I used Voodoo OTA a few times on 4.2 but evidently it no longer works on 4.3/4.4.
Did some searches and couldn't find anything so figured i'd ask and see if anyone knows of a way, either through a on device app, toolkit, or anything to do a temp unroot.
It's not something i need often, but flixster and all my ultraviolet copies won't play if rooted.
Did you find anything useful ?

If you have the xposed framework installed you can use this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2574647
It has been reported working with flixster.
I guess an alternative could be to use multirom, and just keep an unrooted ROM in it, then you can just reboot into the unrooted ROM when necessary. That seems kind excessive tho lol.
Good luck, I hate that some developers Intentionality make there apps incompatible with rooted devices.

Hi guys. I have just gotten this headphone but I can't install android app because it says it is not compatible with my phone. I have sent an e-mail to Jays and they said, because of the Samsung and Sprint restriction these kind of apps cannot be installed Galaxy S Epic Touch 4G. They recommend to root and install new rom.
My question is, is there any way to install this app to my phone without root and without installing new rom?
Thank you.

maybe this might help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20033923&postcount=86
edit. im rooted so im not sure if it will work. just extract the .apk from the rar and put it on your sdcard and install from there. might work. let me know if it does.
there are great guides and videos here to help you root and pick a great rom if you want to. (i would suggest it because my favorite feature is being able to long-press the volume buttons while the phone is asleep to skip to the next/previous track) i use the Blazer ROM.
second edit: ugh, it might not work unless you are rooted because you may have to flash the 'Headset Fix ZIP' first. sorry bout that. i have totally different headphones with three buttons and this app AND the 'Fix' made my buttons work with my audio.
QbKing77 has posted great videos on how to root and rom in here and on youtube. i would do some researching.. i can never go back to an unrooted phone. there is just more freedom to do what you want with a rooted device.

Thank you for your answer. As you guess, I have installed but it didn't work. Probably I am gonna try to root it. I am just wonderin one thing. After I root my phone, am I able to get official update from Sprint?

you can update the profile and prl but i dont think firmware could be updated. if it is, you may lose root with their update so i would just stick with the rom specific update. the latest ROMs are based on el29 firmware which is sprints latest anyway and their next update will be 4.0 ice cream sandwich which the devs are already working on. plus the updates made by these devs are WAY better than what sprint does. these guys work out more bugs and add way more options and allow our phones to do way more..or you could stay stock if you really want to
its so worth it to root. took me like 10 mins. (i have rooted and rom'd other android phones in the past so it was very easy but if you watch a a couple of those How-To vids and read a little bit in the how to threads, you'll be fine.)
i hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your all help. I have rooted and I did Headset Fix. Now my headphone works perfectly.
Today I updated my galaxy to version 4.3 and I hate it. I was using planet to surf the web on my laptop and the update has somehow stopped pdanet from working. I looked around to try to find how to uninstall the update. I did not really find anything except these custom Rom things. I am willing to put a custom rom on my phone I just want to be able to use pdanet again. I looked for a guide to do this but did not find anything, I'm sure there is one though. If someone could point me in to the direction of a guide that will help me I would be greatly appreciative as long as it is on more basic terms I can understand. I just want to be able to use pdanet again to play games and surf the internet. Thank you

If you accepted the 4.3 OTA, there is no way to go back to MD4 at this time. The update has installed the Knox bootloader. You will brick the phone if you try to go back to MD4. Until the devs find a way around this, you're stuck on 4.3
OK guys, Firstly apologies if I'm duplicating any threads, I haven't been on for some time so a little out of touch and also logged in on a mobile device... I'm looking to either unroot my phone, hide root or work around for apps. I've searched high and low and can't find a working method thus far.. I've always rooted my devices but it seems there are more and more apps unable to work on rooted devices. I've tried apps like hide my root etc and tried disabling SU in the app menu with no avail, I need more so Barclays banking but also sky go app working. I work as a response driver and can have periods at work with no events so rely on sky go to keep my brain at least semi functional. I completely forgot these wouldn't work on my phone after I rooted it yesterday. Can anyone offer a solution to get these apps to work either via somehow cloaking root, installing older APK or anything I'm open to all suggestions whether it's something direct with handset or via ADB... Or alternatively advise the easiest way to remove root. Bootloader unlocked via HTC Dev, PhilZ touch ClockworkMod Recovery, S-off via firewater. May also be worth mentioning I'm in UK
Your help is greatly appreciated

There is currently no way to get Sky Go working on a rooted phone. It's the one of the reasons why I don't root any more

I had this problem but with barclays, didnt realise sky go wouldnt work. You have to flash a unrooted recovery through TWRP.
EDIT: Try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Look for your software number in the about section at the bottom of settings, mine was something like 1.54.401.5. Im on o2 so i used the o2 one, so download depending on your carrier. Also the number doesn't have to be 100% the same, as long as the first 3 numbers match you're laughing. make sure you download an unrooted one though (pretty sure they all are) put it onto your sd card wipe the phone then install the unrooted rom. Make sure it goes in sdcard/twrp/backups/(modelnumber)
if youve made any other backups with twrp they'll be in there so you know you're in the right place.
Hope this helps. I soft bricked mine so this is how i got out of it.
I've never used the apps you mention but I've had success getting no-root apps running with exposed and root cloak.
Hi there,
A while back I updated my already rooted Z1C to the newest firmware 14.6.A.1..236 via PC Companion. I thought it was just a minor update so I did not think of losing my root access
As far as I know all I can do now in order to get back my lovely root privileges is by going back to Kitkat, install Dualboot Recovery, put my pre rooted Android on my phone and flash it.
So here is my question:
Is there any fancy way of doing this more directly? I would much prefer not having to fiddling around with backups, which may or may not restore all my data...
I would also be interested in why I can't just flash the flashable.zip directly onto my phone using Flashtool or similar. As an IT student I would really like to learn this kind of stuff
Thanks in advance!

You can get root with KingRoot app and then you can change it to SuperSu with this guide:
Code:
www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html
(I know that the guide is somewhere in XDA, but can't find it.) I have tested the procedure and for me it worked.

Thanks for your fast reply. However, after googling the App while the download was still going I found several articles which found the App not trustworthy. Trying to download the App from their site directly even gave my a very clear warning. So I'd rather use something else :/
I think the best reasons against the App can be found here:
https://www.quora.com/Is-KingRoot-the-one-tap-Chinese-rooting-app-legit-and-safe
If, however, a more experienced and credible user (sorry foguh, this is nothing personal ) can recommend the App as well, I might give it a shot...

There are 381 pages about KingRoot, I am not entirely sure is it only about people begging for specific root methods, but I believe there could be some convincing posts about it. And I don't trust KingRoot that much myself, that is why I included the post how to replace KingRoot with SuperSu.
Nothing taken personally though, just trying to provide solution for you, which worked for me
I am still unsure of the App but as it seems to be the easiest option I installed it and rooted my phone with it.
Everything went quite smoothly. One thing I really didn't like however is the required internet connection during rooting. Normally this tells me immediately that its fetching some malware and I get my hands off...
Of course I also immediately replaced their App with SuperSU but I am still worried it might placed more on my phone than it claims.... Let's hope for the best
Anyhow, thanks a lot to you foguh! It's really nice to get so quick and helpful responses and I appreciate the effort
Have a nice day/evening/morning/night/...

Glad I could help!
As far as I am aware, the internet connection during rooting process is for fetching the correct root method for the phone (and that damn Purify app.)
But if you are worried that there could be some other leftovers, you can monitor the network traffic of your phone to be 100% sure. And of course go through the files manually. (Personally, I haven't bothered to do it, I trust people too much)
The easiest way to say "Thanks!" is to hit the button below!
Hi all
Hope this is the correct area...
My hubby bought me a S20 plus for my birthday through a local dealer.
I noticed a few issues like not being able to use biometrics or install certain apps.
I've since found out the phone has been rooted.
I've tried to do a factory reset, but this hasn't helped.
I've downloaded root checker and it confirms the phone is rooted. I've downloaded SuperSU yet is won't work as ver 2.82 claims it's for an older Version of Android.
I've downloaded solid explorer to delete the root access files such as Busybox and SU however I cannot find these files in the system folder or the system/bin folder.
Can anyone advise on how I can unroot my phone? I am unable to install certain needed apps due to this.
Phone details below. Sorry am unable to upload pics.
UI Version = 1
Android Version = 10
Let me know if other info is needed.
I've even tried calling the Samsung Center and they are unable to assist...
Thanks all
Lee

You will need to get hold of the stock firmware from somewhere like Sammobile and flash back to stock using ODIN. There's tons of guides knocking about on here for the step by step. The damage is done though as far as any Knox related features go, it's like a fuse that blows when you root and you can never fix that.
Having said that, biometrics should have never been affected by rooting so that's a bit unusual. Flash stock and set up from scratch then go from there, could be faulty also
Thanks for the guidance Dave. I'll search the forums for the steps.
For clarity, when I say biometrics didn't work, it works allow me to record etc, but when I tried to enable it, like on my banking app, it wouldn't allow me. This is how I eventually figured out my phone was rooted. While I know the benefits of being rooted, a normal everyday user like myself, certainly won't benefit from it.
I've had a Samsung my entire life, and always saw the secured by knox logo... When you say damage has been done, does this mean that all my security in the device, such as my banking details etc, may be compromised?
Jees. I hope not. As this would really freak me out...
Ok so Finding the firmware wasn't to difficult. Sanmobile quite easy to navigate.
Just a query please... My phone base band version lists g985fxxu1atb2 however the closest I could find to this is G985FXXU1ATBM
Is this ok or does it have to be the exact same description?
Shoo. Lol. Really hope I'm going to be able to get this right **insert nervous smile emoticon here**

The last letters are the region/operator of the Rom. Not necessarily has to be the exact description, the really important are the first that indicate model number.
Ok. So have downloaded Odin and am busy downloading the flash firmware.
May I please be so bold as to ask someone on here to please share a link tot he step by step guide that I will need to follow in order to flash my phone back to the original boot thingie :silly::silly::silly:
I have tried to search but seem to only come up with a nexus thread with no mention of Odin.
~Sorry to ask, but little overwhelmed LOL and want to make sure I do this properly and not screw up my phone.
REAL noob here, so apologies if I come across lazy and getting others to do the work, but am really grateful for the help.
Maybe I'm searching incorrectly???
I found this somehow....
Is this it?

Can you unlock your phone with biometrics? Im guessing only the banking apps don't work because it's rooted. If i remember correctly most banking apps and maybe Google pay(not sure about that) stop working after rooting because the phone is "compromised" and it's not safe. You have to hide your root status from these apps and they will work properly then. Maybe someone else can help you with that because i do not remember how to do it.
Hi Marto
Yes, biometrics does work, although not really good. But that's probably due to the hectic screen protector.
Correctly so, it's mostly the banking / payment apps that won't work, and I can't check or download any software updates... Although I belive this can also be done manually....
But wow, there's an app that hides the root status? That might be a whole lot easier than re flashing. Truthfully I'm Sh!tting myself at the thought of attempting this ????

if the phone was bought as new, go back to the dealer and demand a new one that is not rooted.
could also be that your husband rooted the phone and installed software that keep tabs on what you do.
