[All Carriers] Speeding up your galaxy S III - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

So I found this thread in the International section and its a neat little tweak. Should definitely give a try. Phone feels much snappier!

I don't know. I'm getting ~175Mflops on multi-thread Linpack scores, and no lag anywhere.
How much snappier does the thing need to be?? Seriously?
Edit: I tried the tweaks suggested in said thread, and yea, there's a slight (SLIGHT) increase in transition speed, but seriously if you blink you'll miss it. It's really that nominal.

Umm I dont know , I could definitely see a lag when I was returning to my home screen or while pulling up the Recent Apps List. This tweak fixed that.
P.S. I am on STOCK ROM btw, so I dunno if this issue crops up in any of the rooted devices/CUSTOM ROMS.

What to use[KERNEL]for myns rom w/collins tweak?

I was told on the guide that it works best with nohavs kernel but im using the 4.2.1 by netarchy cfs,yet it gets to 70% in an hour with light usage.
And im a pretty heavy user.
I know he posted the recommended kernels that work on the rom but I need to know what works best with the tweak for the optimal battery life and smooth and quick. Because the kernel im on now is not smooth nor quick. A bit laggy actually.
Please im in need of help, don't flame or just leave.
(I know this will be moved but i need your guys help)
What's your opinion?

Thank you.

Hey bud, instead of posting about this in THREE different places stick to the Q&A section OR the Myn rom post! Im not going to be a total @$$ hole about this, but wait for it someone will be. It gets obnoxious reading your exact same post in three places. Thanks and have a nice day.

You should really utilize XDA's search feature more! Instead of using the battery tweak, you should use something a little simpler for battery savings like setCPU or CPU tuner, both of which can be found on the market. Just having a profile set for screen off makes a huge difference, assuming you allow your screen to sleep. In the end, a little bit of reading and personal experimentation goes a long way in becoming more competant and knowledgeable about your device.

Why is SenseUI slow/laggy?

Why would Sprint market a phone with SenseUI when it's slow slow and laggy? I'm referring specifically to the home screen transitions. It's noticeably slower and not as smooth as Launcher Pro or ADW.
Is there anything that can be done about this? I like SenseUI, but ugh!
I otherwise LOVE this phone.
Use a tweak ROM like MikFroyo 4.5, ****s crazy fast.

+1, although I put ADW on top and it's fan-freakin-tastic
Thanks for the suggestion! I really like SenseUI, but yeah... the stock is slow as hell. I notice things other things that seem slower than they should be for the hardware this phone has.
Then again... I'm used to running an overclocked Nexus One....
Thanks again.
I'll check out out tonight.

I worked on the nexus, vibrant and epic. Those phones have an ext4 partition. that pretty much fixes all lag. humming bird processors are like amd processors and snapdragon is like intel. you will never get that performance or PIZAZZ out of the evo. Blame it on the masonic influence but i think your desire to switch to the evo was pure marketing.
Ohh and the video is no where near 720p. I think the evo gets 25fps. No matter what app is designed to tell you false readings, your phone will never perform like the nexus. IN MY OPINION. I have all three up and going right now. Not only is the vibrant hd video camcorder 50000000000000000000000 times better, faster and defined but i am actually capturing cleaner smoother video on the samsung moment as we speak. I have all of the firmware and apk files from all phones but i know nothing of porting firmware. The harware on the evo quotes its own ability to handle such performance. I find it weird that it does not. Also most people will not respond to questions that challenge the capabilities of the evo. They are too busy trying to avoid the proof. which is clear as day

[Q] Disappointed with perf of Synergy Kingdom ROM port, where do I go now?

Hello,
Yet another "which rom?" thread, but I'm hoping people can either concur or deny for all the magic reportedly gained by Synergy's "God Mode," performance is still not that great.
I was using netarchy's BurntDroid for about 10 months, and figured I'd hit up this god mode to get even more performance out of the system. However, after flashing, not only was there no gain, but responsiveness of Rosie as well as all of the apps is much worse. Yes, the ROM looks great, this is quite obvious; but with the performance this poor, I just can't stay with it.
Now, I'm wondering, to do with the God Mode magic, how do I know it's there? How do I verify that the partitions are designed as explained? I guess, I'm so disappointed that I'm skeptical of myself... am I doing it wrong?
Other than that, the old generic question, which ROM looks pretty nice and has the best performance?
Thanks,
Matt

I've tried both Synergy w/godmode and without, and my phone performs better without. I use the GoldenMonkey 1.1 kernel, and have 0 complaints.
Really depends on what you want for features and style.
A lot of the ROMs are pretty similar, but some allow for more customization of things like the Rosie Launcher and notifications.
Personally, I've had a lot better performance and luck with Myn's Synergy ROM over Virus' Synergy Kingdom. I loaded up Synergy Kingdom and it was just laggy and slow for like a day; Myn's is pretty slick and I haven't had any issues with it.
I also like the MikG ROM.
Those are the main ones I've tried and recommend. Although right now I'm having data issues, and I don't know if it's the ROM or my phone or Sprint or what.
I have tried Synergy, MikG, Kings Shooter and Kings Alliance. I am currently running Alliance as it seems to have better response times for me, at least so far...just flashed it yesterday. Biggest thing I have found is trial and error.

Thanks guys!
I just ran V6 Supercharger and it really improved performance. I'll see how it is after running the system without reboot 10+ hours though; and how terribly it lags my BlastMonkeys when I go in and out of coverage areas (subway).
I'm running netarchy's toastmod kernel, so I'll install golden monkey... why not!
Anyway, appreciate the ROM suggestions... I'll take a look at them and see which is best for performance with some style.
I'm coming from the htc Inspire to the evo and most of this roms are ported from there and they don't work that great on the evo and all of inspire roms has working 4g even cm and miui I cant say the same for the evo. Probably stock 233 works better lol.

Hey branded try caulkin is the **** man!!

AXI0M/AOKP CROSSBREED is by far the smoothest rom I've flashed

I haven't seen any posts about DroidTheory's new Axi0m/AOKP kang.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20018-axi0m-crossbreed-aokp-404-kanghybrid-362012/
Its marvelous. I have flashed many, many roms on my LTE Gnex and this one is BY FAR the smoothest and fastest available. Everything is so quick and snappy. In my opinion it rivals the CM9 nightly in terms of speed.
The newest version, updated yesterday, tries to completely integrate 4.0.4 with the most recent AOKP. Some things don't work, like market restore, but it's definitely worth taking a look.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, this rom uses franco's kernel.
Okay...

Also (if I have this straight) quick and snappy?!
Synonyms are great, huh?
Placebos are great too

Which makes it a hackjob at best. There is no 4.0.4 source, so I am thinking he probably used dex2jar and tried adding features from it. That will not make a rom faster by the way
Never underestimate the power of placebo. If it feels faster, its due to the kernel. Everyone always says it is not a placebo, but the Beats port is a perfect example. Measured responses show zero change, yet people swear by it according to their feelings.
I am not saying not to try it, I am saying if you think its faster, its the kernel or placebo.

Then why have other developers started using Axi0ms "Th3ory Go Faster Script (Speed, Fluidity, Battery Life, RAM Management)"
Surely rom developers know a placebo from the real deal.
We aren't using it so...'other developers' is pretty subjective.
Do you really believe that one single guy knows the secrets to making Android go fast and Google does not?
Thats the problem with placebos. The more people believe in them, the more conviction everyone has that it is real.
Look how far nuking batterystats went in terms of placebo. We heard about it for years, everyone believed it worked, and most took it as gospel until recently.
How many devs start their posts with deodexed and zipaligned for performance? Neither affect performance.
How about those that have a zipalign script every boot? Zipalign only works once.
How about the build.prop tweak of maxevents = 240 for window manager? Do you really think that setting it to 240 increases the framerate by even 1 frame per second?
Many, many placebos out there.

Have you even TRIED the rom? I would bet you have not. Why are you arguing semantics with me? You will not get me to change my mind. THIS ROM IS FASTER THAN AOKP B27.
Also, the battery life is great. Far better than stock AOKP B27. I get 10% less battery drain overnight than I did with just AOKP B27.
This is a good rom, it is faster than AOKP B27, comes with a great kernel, etc. What's your deal?
LOL...
Blind as can be. You are so tied up in your own little world, that you didn't hear a word I said. I am sure the rom is nice, but show some measurable numbers before saying its faster than...anything.
I have been around the block a few times to know when a placebo is in effect. I have even run some blind tests with kernels. I literally had a test group say they felt a larger performance difference from kernel A to kernel B. Like 30% said kernel A was better.
They were both the same exact kernel, no changes between them, both compiled within minutes of each other. Imagine their surprise when I gave them the results and explained both kernels were identical.
I am not asking you or telling you to change anything, but unless you can provide measurable results, your opinion is just that. If you like the rom, I am happy for you. Enjoy it.

this script you describe here is 100% nonsense (RAM Management?) and no developer who knows "placebo from the real deal" would use a hacky script from some WinZip Wizard

I am sure the dev can bring it over if he so wishes. Why are you taking this so personally?
Not a fair argument adrynalyne.
You know me. I never play fair.
AOKP and BAMF are smoother in my experience. And the screen tweaks in Axiom caused horrible purple tinges for me.
I was an AOKP faithful, but Axiom crossbread snatched me

Lag lag lag

I came from the insufferable Note 2. But at least there's no lag on THAT phone.
With this phone, both stock Rom and cm10.2, there is lag.
I've tried changing the processor to performance. No difference.
In fact, I've tried several different things that had absolutely no effect.
Any advice other than trying a thousand different things until I " get it right" ?
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.
You should do more research before opening all these pointless threads of yours ... I have absolutely no lag whatsoever with my e980. It runs like a friggin note 2 killer champ.... Do more research man!

Why do you feel the need to disclaim that you didn't mean to "like" the post? Is it a mortal sin to ever say anything bad about android products and services?
Today, I went back to stock (4.1.2) and the speed was back to normal. For example, I played this game called Rope Escape. It is fluid once more.
When I was on CM 10.2, there was noticeable stutter in the game.
Now I've put SlimKat 4.4.2 on my device and it seems to be doing much better as well. We'll just have to see.
The thing with this android experience is that at first you get all excited thinking you're gonna have so much better battery life or whatever....and everything is great for a day.... then..meet the new boss, same as the old boss.....
