Hello, i been reading alot these couples of days but iam having an issue with my phone, i order from ebay a extended battery, ( got it 2 dasy ago), after that is when the problems come from, i also install the MIUI Rom, to my phone but was not getting me to the main page of the phone, i just got to restart the phone everytime, now running ( Phantom's Blazer Rom ) , the phone is jsut charginwhile not connected to the charger, i have to take the battery out and plug it back so it can work that with the factory battery, while wiht the extended battery it just turn on but stay there at the screen with the battery light up and then turn of and goes back to the same screen,....... I clean the usb port, and jsut work for a bit, like 3 minutes, but then come to the same thing, could it be the port? .......... i also install via Odin(EG30).... thnak you ..... please help me if you can thank you......
From my experience at work, when this happens it's usually corrosion on the charging port, causing a conductive path between two pins on the charger.

OK sorry for misunderstanding friend, sounds to me like yes something is possibly causing your connections in your USB port connector to touch, I would take the phone to a retailer and have them check it out, sprint is usually pretty cool, they clean my phone for free every time I take it in, it may be as simple as that

I had this very problem myself. Its definitely the usb port going out. I called sprint ahead of time and made the complaint, then went to the sprint store and used my.insurance. They tested the phone and had a new phone to me within 2 days.

Believe me, I tried to search for answers but can't seem to find one.
Is it supposed to be supposed to be normal for the lighting bolt to appear while the phone is plugged in despite being fully charged?
I don't seem to remember this on the Nexus S when I had still had it on ICS.
Hardware problem.

Not to be rude or something... But the phone's barely two months old.
Almost 650USD (in my country) for less-than-decent hardware that doesn't update past 4.0.2 even today seems unjustifiable.
Sure it updates past 4.0.2. Wait and see this will be the first phone on jellybean too!!!

tried to conect to pc, the device is not recognized..
cant power on with the charger plugged in..tried another charger, no success
meanwhile i'm trying to put the battery on an external charger to see if its an issue with the battery itself..
i'm starting to think that my nexus is dead..
please if someone cound help me, it would be much appreciated. thx in advance!!!
sorry for my broken english, i'm from brazil
So it doesn't vibrate or anything? You can't get into bootloader? No Odin?
If no, then try OMAP flashing. I never did it, so I don't quite know about it, but apparently this saved some good amount of people with the hard bricking.

So the strangest thing happened. i left the battery in the external charger for a full day..when a took it off and put it in the phone, pressed the pwr button with no sucess...nothing again...tried a couple of times..and yet nothing
five minutes later ,on a last ditch effort, pushed the pwer button once more and..FINALLY ! the thing wakes up..booted normaly, like nothing happened.
today when the battery runs out again(on about 2 %) i turned it off and connected the usb cable to charge in my work's pc..now again the same thing happens, phone is dead again. tried with 2 different cables..battery is already in the external charger, gonna try again tomorrow..
starting to think the problem is in the usb connector or the battery itself..but at least my biggest fear(fried phone) seems less likely

Hey E4GT peeps;
So listen to this quick little story, and then let me know if I'm correct in my assumption:
I used to have JellyBean on my phone, not CM10, but Sbrissen's amazing ROM... well I decided to go back to stock everything and upgrade to ICS that way/etc... don't ask me why 'cause I don't know yet. lol. Well I did it, and I believe I used the One-Touch-Stock option to do it all. Well I went back to stock, everything was kind of weird... Android system felt laggy, and crashed, I was on ICS at that point btw, it was Stock FF18 I believe. Well anyways, I tried to do a few things, and suddenly things got worse... my battery stopped charging up completely... I would get the "Voltage too high" bs @ around 23% battery life. Well suddenly tonight the phone just shut off... and won't charge anymore. It won't turn on, and when I plug it into my PC or the wall charger, it still does nothing. All I get is a soft blinking blue light... not a solid red light (aka charging light)... well I tried to just let it sit on the charger for a few hours, and I left it off the charger for a few hours and still no success.
So I'm wondering... Do you think this is a Brick?
Do this you should be good.

Yes, I pulled battery, tried to boot in both recovery/download mode... Right now I can't even get it to turn on. Occasionally I get the blue light that flashes every like 4 seconds. Phone doesn't show up in Odin at all.
Are you sure your battery is good? Because nothing that you've posted that you did should have resulted in a brick... I'm not very familiar with the "voltage too high" issue, I know there are threads about it though, you may want to take a look at the solutions offered there as your issue seems to be much more related to power than any traditional cause of a brick...

That's actually something I thought might be the issue. I'm going to the Sprint Store in like 5-6 hours and we'll see what the real issue is. I only jhope for a brick so that way they can replace my device, since I've dropped this one a few too many times and you can see the wear and tear.

My guess is either bootloader or something physically wrong with the phone. Anything happen to it lately - get wet, dropped, etc?
Flashing blue is the battery. I've had this happen 3 times now.
Yeah solid blue is the brick. Blinking blue is likely the battery

Thanks for the responses, it's currently sitting at the Sprint Store for repairs... I'm actually going to leave to go get it in like 40 minutes... If it's the battery, that's fine, cause they can easily get it working fast, which is good, because I need the phone for business/work.
Hate to sound negative, but mine was doing pretty much the same thing and it was definitely bricked. I took it to the sprint store and the tech scratched his head and said he's never seen one not be able to get into download mode. He then replaced the screen. Obviously didn't help. Mine had a solid blue light for a while, then as the battery wore down, the blue light flashed, but very very dim. I was hoping it was the battery too, but the rep at the front counter switched the battery for me before it even went to the tech. Anyway, good luck! Hopefully you're situation turn out better than mine!
mine did the same thing while I was on vacation so I wasn't flashing it was the charging port. Try bending the little port down a little

So I am back from the Sprint Store (and feeding my son), and basically it was the charging port... they said it has corrosion on it... from moisture... and I had to file a claim through asurion. How lame. The guy at the store was pretty dumb as he had no clue what was really wrong with it and couldn't even explain basic things... none the less, the tech guy assured me it was just the charging port itself, one of the prongs on it were damaged beyond repair, but since it was 'corrosion' they can't do anything about it. I need to shell out $100 to get a new one sent now.
Woot. At least I will be able to take better care of my replacement and not get it roughed up like this one, haha.

That's why I don't brick phones. The only time I go see Sprint is when something physical happens, even then, they don't fix it.

That's funny... When I actually did brick my phone the sprint tech said exactly the same thing. It's funny because I also left the store while they were going to do the repair. I was also told to pay $100 dollars because of "corrosion" on the board where the charging port is.... coincidence? Did you happen to go to the store in Mesa, AZ near Fiesta mall?
I don't see how "corrosion" on the USB port is preventing a charge, a good cleaning should fix that, I mean its not like a whole pin would have spontaneously rusted off. I also would suggest taking it to another store

Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?
On another note, is it possible to erase ALL my info remotely while my phone is in this state?
I'm concerned about my privacy and wanted to make sure all sensitive material is wiped before I send it off to get swapped out.

Did you flash a ROM/kernel for a different phone?
If it says something like qhusb when you plug it into the computer, you probably can't wipe any of your info off of it.
Take the battery out for a few minutes then put it back and try turning it on.

Just another quick question,
If they cant fix the hardware, do they just smash the motherboard/phone?
Because in my case its probably a bad motherboard or some other hardware component

No they use pieces for another "refurbish" phone believe it or not, 9 times out of 10 theres nothing they can't fix, unless u really damage the hardware, it's very hard to kill the motherboard with software, u may render it unusable, but with there system it's just a matter of connecting it, wiping everything and flashing a stock img back on the device, in effect - new screen, new img., new plastic= "refurbished" phone lol

No they use pieces for another "refurbish" phone believe it or not, 9 times out of 10 theres nothing they can't fix, unless u really damage the hardware, it's very hard to kill the motherboard with software, u may render it unusable, but with there system it's just a matter of connecting it, wiping everything and flashing a stock img back on the device, in effect - new screen, new img., new plastic= "refurbished" phone lol

hahaha thats hilarious.
It so funny because I can actually imagine them doing so. hahaha
Again, thanks for the info
It's funny because it's true lol all these"refurbished" phones are just ppls old broken bricked devices if u ever do send a phone back here's a little funny, take a red pen and inside the battery compartment make a small dot or something that only u know is there, that way when u get it back u can laugh, because 99.9% of the time it's a completely different device lol

Hey guys,
Looks like I have a very unique problem here with my Galaxy S4, M919. I've had the phone for about 2 months and it's worked flawlessly until yesterday. It just randomly stopped charging!
I've replaced the charging port already and also re-flashed ROM (aokp_jfltetmo_kitkat_nightly_2014-03-27).
I am unable to charge the phone, however it syncs perfectly with my PC. I've searched all day yesterday and all morning today for anyone with a similar problem but have yet to find anything.
You guys are my best and only hope now.
Please..anyone. I really need your help! I can't afford to purchase a new device.
If you require more information, let me know.
Thanks in advance for your time and help!
EDIT
I just ordered a Qi Wireless Charger from eBay. I'm hoping it'll allow me to charge the phone since it completely bypassed the charging port and is located on the mobo itself. Will update once it arrives and I test it out.
Still looking for answers to this problem though. So if anyone has any thoughts on what may have happened (and its solution), it would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT 2
Just received the Qi Wireless Charger.. It does not work either =(
I will be flashing back to stock again and try to charge the phone while it is off. This is the last thing I can try now. If it still doesn't work, I will be parting out my phone.
LCD $180
MoBo $120
Remaining parts can be discussed
Just message if interested!

Have you attempted to flash another ROM and see if the problem persists? Another kernel? I suggest trying another kernel first, then another ROM. Also, I have to ask just to cover all bases, have you tried multiple ports on your PC? The device won't charge at all or just while connected to PC?

Hey. Thanks for the reply.
I've already tried flashing a new kernel as well as ROM. I've tried all 4 ports on my PC. I forgot to mention that it also does not charge through any wall adapters. Any charging method that involves using a Micro USB cable does not work. The only response I can get is data sync when attached to my PC.

Hmm that is very strange. That's highly unfortunate and I'm sad to say this is definitely beyond my level of expertise at this point haha. I'd do some more looking around via Google but I really don't know what to tell you friend

If you are with T-Mobile, I sure hope you have insurance or JUMP. As a T-Mobile employee, I can vouch that this problem is considered a hardware defect and would fall under an insurance plan. The only thing is though, you'd you have to return to full uprooted stock as an employee in your store will have to perform a physical and software diagnosis. Physical is easy as long as the phone has no cracked screen, no water damage and is YOUR phone. Software, they will plug it into our diagnosis tool where we'd be able to see if you've installed ROMs and such, which would void your warranty.

That sucks lol. Thanks for trying though. I'm scared to say it but.. I don't think Google can even help me at this point :crying:

Yeah. I've gone to stock..still doesn't charge. Re-rooted and flashed aokp again and same thing.
I honestly have no idea what could cause this. I've never..and i really mean never dropped my phone, nor had any sort of shock or damage to it. No liquid/moisture anywhere around it. No dust. It doesn't make sense for it to be something physical.. it's still being picked up by my computer. I'm still able to flash and transfer files to/from the phone. It just is not charging.

Well, it's most likely a malfunction then my friend. A customer came into my store just the other day with his S5 he just purchased three days prior. The device was stuck on that S-View screen even when the S-View case was not covering the screen and even completely detached. We tried everything you can at a T-Mobile store. Even factory reset. Still, the problem persisted. It happens friend, hope you have insurance or JUMP

I don't have insurance..I'm going to wait to try out the wireless charger and take it from there. I might sell the phone to someone with the wireless charger. Will have to just wait and see lol.
Really appreciate your time and help!

Are you still having this issue?
I am having the same issue, but this only happens when installing a rom. You cannot just reflash the stock rom. If you still have to phone, I can give you a link on what to down load to set your phone back to defaults. Once you set it back to defaults you should be fine.
My issue:
I installed any custom rom and this Tmobile Phone will not charge at all!!!!
Complete set back to Tmobile Defaults charges perfectly.
I will try flashing a custom Kernel with battery management to see if this help.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up selling the phone to someone for a cheaper price. I tried to ODIN back to stock, however it didn't work. I'd still like to know why it would stop charging if a custom ROM was installed though.
Best of luck with your phone :good:

I found my issue, it first came by my root method. I was using a method that wasn't designed for my model. Then the issue was recovery, again wrong type for model. Finally I got everything to work and I lost lte. to fix that I just added the LTE profile and it works.
