Thnx for your advice , don't think i can sell my sgw for a price of which i can buy an sgs+ though. I should've bought an sgs+ instead of and sgw...
The SGW is my first android device, so i didn't have any experience which made me not able to choose the right phone -.-
well, since our phone was supposed to have light sensor, but it doesn't cause the hardware piece is not the correct one
is it possible to change(solder) the correct one, and the light sensor functionality will be working?!

It's not a light sensor, it's a proximity sensor, it supposed to turn off the screen when you put the phone on your ear.
i know, but if you look closely you got 2 holes, it should be the light sensor and the proximity sensor, but the hardware inside is a sharp piece, but only proximity sensor, if you look in older roms, there is an option to enable light sensor, and the drivers are to inside. In the manual there is writen/draw that this model have light sensor.
I think it Almost impossible to replace some parts of your sgw with another, hoping you can upgrade it. As in your example, replace your stocked touchscreen with amoled.. Waw, i don't know where you got this idea from man
But standard touchscreen and amoled both are so different level in technology. So there's no chance they have same pins, or same voltage, and so on.
But if you do that replacement to replace some broken part of sgw, not for upgrade, that's possible. Because you certainly use the same model of electronic parts.

This hardware mod is not exactly matching the SGW nor a phone, but also works with any phone and the SGW as well.
That´s the only mod that works if you are planning to replace your 3,7" LCD display against a 42" Samsung TV display or upgrade your proximity sensor with a light sensor. And btw, the proximity sensor has an emitter and a reciver. That´s why there are two holes. So to add a light sensor you need a diamont drill as well to make a additional hole in your front glas.
So you advice to replace proximity sensor with light sensor which can burn
Great.
Thus, what do you change 3.7" with super big screen for???
And then, dig a hole with diamond drill?!

You obviously didn´t get it, though your eplanation about the differences between a simple LCD display against a amoled display above are correct.
The hammer is the hardware mod and the laserpointer an placeholder for the phone. The same with the 42" TV screen and diamont drill for the hole. All meant ironic.
The proximity sensor has been discussed way back at the beginning of the SGW forum, so no way to replace it or to mod it. Beside this even if you find one that would fit into the SGW, there is still no hardware on the PCB to support it. And without hardware support there is also no sense to add it into the software. The early ROM indeed offered such an otpion but simply because Samsung forgot to remove it from the basic Gingerbread ROM that was used for this phone.
So the whole discussion about such hardware mods is senseless.
The phone is a costruction "as is", so if you need something different, you should think about it before buying it. The only hardware mod you can do is to sell it and to buy one that has the features you want to have.

My T-mobile G2 has an intact exterior glass. However, the display underneath is not working properly. The screen responds to touch commands, but the display does not display anything properly. There's a crack in the display underneath (not on the glass). I have no doubt it was because I have dropped the phone face down before, coupled with pressure from being stored in my pockets.
Does anybody know how to fix this? i.e. what parts do I need?
If the glass front of screen is still intact and you are still able to use the touchscreen, it sound like the only part you would need to replace is the actual LCD.

How could it be any other answer? Your screen is CRACKED.
I guess I'm baffled by how the LCD can be damaged but the glass isn't.
So how can I fix this?
Can I just swap out the LCD for one from ebay?
thanks. will keep an eye out for your photos
Hi guys,
Little sad story here.
After not even 10 days of life my Galaxy Note 2 fell from my bedside table face down onto tiled floor and smashed the front glass! (my cat did that, I know it's was on purpose, that's why I now have a cat fur bedside mat).
I'm ordering a new front screen glass as the display and everything still works fine.
Only thing, which is weird, running a system test it shows the proximity sensor stuck to far. I did notice that during calls the screen would not switch off. Before the crash the proximity sensor worked fine.
What do you think the reason might be? I am attaching a picture of the phone. Do you guys think the cracks on top of the two sensors near the front camera might "confuse" the proximity sensor?
Thanks for any idea you may have...
Also, I will update you on the front screen replacement and its results.. Fingers crossed...
Cheers!

First off, feel very sad for you pal.
I'm quite sure that the proximity sensor is damaged from the fall, so you might have to ask your SC to check it once when you'll go to replace the front glass.
Besides, another shatter story, shows this device's build quality is sub par. No device should break, let alone shatter, from a fall like that, one or two dents would be more than enough. What was the Gorilla doing when it hit the surface anyway?
Swyped from my GT-N7100
looking at the picture hurts my heart!
but yeah like jujuburi said, the fall might have dislodged or damaged the proximity sensor. It could also be the crack over the sensor, because the glass is no longer aligned, it could possibly be confusing the device but rather unlikely.
Its obvious that the crack in front of the proximity sensor is messing with it. Under direct sunlight you should be able to look at the proximity sensor and see if its not aligned otherwise its just the crack.

It will be the crack for sure... It will affect the light getting to the sensor

Second left from the front facing camera .
R: Crash, smash!!
Thank you all for your input.
I have noticed that the proximity sensor still works, as it is sufficient to put the phone near a really bright light to get the screen to turn on again. It's just a bit fidgety to do that and end the conversations...
Still waiting for the new glass to arrive from Hong Kong, we'll see what happens next...
Regarding the fall, the phone was connected to the charger and was facing down on the bedside table as the LED stays on after finishing charging and that morning it was annoying me enough...
The bedside table is about 60 to 70cm tall and the floor is made of old terracotta tiles, very hard and uneven: I guess one of the tiles corners must have contributed to the damage.
I agree that the Gorilla glass should be a bit more resistant but just a few days before the smash, a friend dropped it while he grabbed it and it literally flew across the room and hit a hard floor and it was perfectly fine afterwards, not even a scratch!
Mystery...
Will update you all when u get the new glass.
Anyone has some good tips about how to replace it? I have seen some YouTube videos about it and, although time consuming, it seems possible...
Only thing I don't understand clearly, will the screen glue back on afterwards? Or is there anything I need to know about it?
Thanks!
G

Mine dropped from two feet and hairline cracked across the whole screen. I bought the full assembly LCD/digitizer. Did the repair per LE55ONS Youtube video. AOK now. afterwards, I tried to pry apart the digitizer glass. In my Note II it is bonded with transparent gum covering the entire LCD. No way to replace only the digitizer on my version of the Note II (I317)
Mine cost $USD 250
Your crack is right over the sensor, so I would expect the sensor itself is fine.
The digitizer glass is the Achilles heel of the device. The rest of it seems normally robust.
I think the glass is so big that it can crack from a twist as well as a drop.
And the glass is very scratch resistant, but very thin and brittle.

Sorry to hear that...
I got it from eBay from China for the equivalent of about 40USD...
Here's a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Screen-...182&pid=100011&prg=1095&rk=1&sd=181060192621&
managed to replace the glass and working well now. Only problem is that in the process of detaching the broken glass I messed up the adhesive around the back and menu buttons so I need to get new one too. The new screen sits raised because of the extra thickness of the messed adhesive so touch responsiveness is not great but will be fixed as soon as the new adhesive arrives.
Also, here's how it looks after the big job..

Well, hey man, kudos to you...
First thing I do when I get a touchscreen device is place a screen protector on it; and I regard that as a pretty major hassle as far as annoying hassles go. Yet you seem to have done a near flawless job with something as crucial as replacing the screen itself; I'm impressed. Hope you get that last little fixed as well, mate.
(On a side note, even with the screen protector I managed to screw up and there's a tiny air bubble just between the home button and the screen itself... So it's invisible when the phone's in use but just annoying enough to notice when the screen is off and the contrast between the black screen and the grey bubble is more obvious).
i really sorry to hear that. hope you can manage your behavior to a better one.

Or simply your proximity connector is loose inside your phone after the cat crash. If you are going to replace the screen yourself, make sure you check all the connectors inside your phone.
From my own opinion, the sensor not damaged but just the crack just across the sensor, just change the glass and our will be fixed, but as what i know, it's not a easy job to change the glass, as it glued together with the display, hope you will manage to change the glass if success, please share us your experience here

Gorilla Glass isn't shatter or crack resistant, it's designed to be scratch resistant. It's hardness actually makes it more prone to cracking.
Hi everyone!
All of a sudden my phone camera (Arc S) is showing a dead pixel (I guess), I don't know how it got there. It's just there in every photo now, especially in the ones taken in dark. I somehow suspect my bag, had put it in the cushioned laptop compartment and had lots of heavy books in the other compartments. But I'm not so sure... I've even tried reverting back from JB (Super Jelly Bean) to ICS, change roms and everything but it still says there... :/
What could I do about it? How do I fix it, it's really annoying! I use my phone to take the most photos....
That's really weird o.o I don't think it's the actual screen's problem (that's to do with pixels) because otherwise it wouldn't show up in screenshots as it's just a hardware issue. I'm thinking it's something to do with your camera. Does that white dot appear in the same position in every picture?

Yes, that white dot appears in every other picture and the exact same position. :/ I guess it's got something to do with the cmos sensor.. I don't think it could be a dust speckle cause it's really tiny, I mean aren't these sensors suppose to be perfectly sealed? They aren't dslr where one changes the lens.

I guess I'll take a trip to the service center in the coming days. There had been scratches on the lens for a long time already, but somehow it never ended up like this. (not that I cannot distinguish between new and old ones )

Hi everybody I have a question regarding a screen problem I have.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post I accidentally spilt a lot of pure alcohol(the kind you use to disinfect a wound or something) on my HOX.
After a while the phone screen showed some strange grey shape on the lower right part of the screen and a bright white long shape looking like water jumping from a fountain on the left side starting from the bottom of the screen extending to almost the middle of the screen. After turning it off for 8-10 hours they grey shape dissapeared and the white remains and it doesnt look like it will ever go.
Strangely enough the HOX has no problem everything is working but I noticed that some apps are working somehow over the white shape covering it and some others like facebook seem to be under it making it visible.
I made some screen shots to show you the problem but stangely enough this white shape is not shown at all in the screen shots!!!!
Can anyone tell me where this thing might be?
LCD? Digitizer? elsewhere?
HTC funny enough suggested a factory reset to solve this and if that doesnt work(like there is a chance that it will...) to just send it to service.
I plan to play dumb to service hopping to fix this under my warranty as the phone has absolutely no scratch or anything anywhere as I never even dropped it once.
Do you think they can somehow find out what happened of maybe they will fix it under warranty?
Thanks a lot for your time reading this and I d love to have your opinions

Looks like overheating damage by a component beneath the screen, possibly something reacting to/affected by the alcohol.

When you say beneath the screen do you mean beneath the LCD as well or just beneath the glass?
I am just thinking that if its beneath the LCD it would probably not show plus the phone would have some kind of functional problem(it works just fine) wouldnt it?
Beneath the screen assembly. It looks like (possibly) some component or board has caused damage to or affected the digitizer, as your actual display seems ok.

So the service corrective action will be a screen assembly replacement or you think that something more will be needed?
Also if the digitizer was damaged wouldnt the phone use be affected?Cause the device has not been affected in anyway.
Everything works like it used to before this damage.
Send it of for repair, youll have to pay of course, how much tdo you like your phone?, that's the question.

I like my HOX very much otherwise why would I pay 428 euro to buy it?
Of course what makes the HOX stand out of the samrtphone crowd is the amazing display so of course I want it fixed.
I will try to cheat saying I know nothing about it(the phone doesnt even has a scratch) hoping waranty to cover this but if this doesnt work I ll have to pay 196 euro for screen replacement.
Although appart from that mark nothing else is affected I am worried that perhaps a screen replacement might not be enough if the digitizer is affected by something beneath it.
Do you think that a screen replacement will be enough to solve this problem?
HTC will give you the digitizer and LCD, especially if you end up paying, which will then get you a new bezel and unibody all still tapped up in protective coat, I've had it done for my phone, 160gbp.I even think you get the Onex+ version screen, gorilla glass 2.Could be wrong

To solve this problem, you have to be on miui stock Rom, but i prefer to use MIUI 6 by syhost as all the menu are in English while they are in chinese on Stock Rom.. Here are the steps-
1. Dial *#*#6484#*#* or *#*#64663#*#*
2. Choose Option no. 8 (this is proximity sensor calibration)
3. Hold your phone upright- you will see, the numeric no of 0.00 then, cover the sensor area with your hand and take away until you see the numeric no. changed to 5.02 something like that..
4. If the no has changed, that means your problem has been solved.
5. Exit...
6. Enjoy and feel like you got a new phone...
