My T-mobile G2 has an intact exterior glass. However, the display underneath is not working properly. The screen responds to touch commands, but the display does not display anything properly. There's a crack in the display underneath (not on the glass). I have no doubt it was because I have dropped the phone face down before, coupled with pressure from being stored in my pockets.
Does anybody know how to fix this? i.e. what parts do I need?
If the glass front of screen is still intact and you are still able to use the touchscreen, it sound like the only part you would need to replace is the actual LCD.

How could it be any other answer? Your screen is CRACKED.
I guess I'm baffled by how the LCD can be damaged but the glass isn't.
So how can I fix this?
Can I just swap out the LCD for one from ebay?
thanks. will keep an eye out for your photos

Hey People,
I had recently brought htc touch hd and simply loved it but i had been putting the same in my pocket without the cover leading to many scratches on the top touch screen. I am looking for a replacement but i really dont know, do i need to change the housing or is it the digitizer or the face plate..i am confused..
With my limited searching skills, if i look for housing, it shows the external body but not sure if its includes the top glass that is scratched. If i look for digitizer, it is the complete touch screen mechanism..does this need to be changed or their is the top glass/film which comes on top of this.. or is it called faceplate.. it would be real helpful if some can give me the link to this top glass/cover or film whatever it is called..
P.S :- My touch screen works absolutely fine and so is the display.

Have you searched on ebay, i always get all my PDA parts there...
As above
i know where to get them but i don't which part is it? Digitizer or Faceplate or Housing?
Hi,
I broke my screen glass and the touch-screen (digitizer?) works just fine, as well as the LCD panel.
I would like to (try to) replace the glass, but I am in a kind of the same dilema as you.
I think the digitizer is touch-receiver + GLASS (not just the thin film).
Can you (or anyone else) confirm this?
Thanks,
cheers,
Nenad

The part you want is the digitizer, that the part you touch with your stylus, the lcd screen sits underneath this, they are glued together and are hard to seperate, buying just the digitizer can lead to many problems, its better to buy an lcd screen and digitizer allready together then just replace the whole thing
I've searched and I can't find anyone else that has the same screen issue as me (they may have but without a picture I can't be certain).
Anyway, I was pulling stuff out of my gym locker yesterday and something knocked my Evo out. Of course it fell flat on the bench, thus causing the screen to become damaged. However, my "cracked" screen doesn't look like any of the other cracked screens I've seen online. My front piece of glass (the part your finger actually touches) remains intact and in great condition (I know I can still unlock the screen because I can feel the haptic feedback of the capacitive buttons), but it's like the screen behind it is what's actually damaged.
Is that correct? And what part would I need to order to replace it. Thanks
I believe that its the lcd
yep thats the lcd itself
Yep, sounds like your digitizer is ok, but your lcd is borked.
Thanks everyone. Will probably be picking up an EVO 3D, then selling my OG after I fix it.
Hello, so here is my problem:
I have cracked my cornin gorilla glass , which i droped from from less then 1meter... such a nonsence since my last phone galaxy s was droped a dozen times and not a single crack, but that is not the point.
So now i have cracked glass, but digitizer touch, and lcd works fine, i have ordered a replacement glass. Only one thing bothers me, now in those places where crack had appeared there are yellow dots , not very bright and in other collors like black red you cant see them, only in white blue and yellow.
I know that these dots came from a presure, so my question is will they disapear if i will remove the cracked screen as it can keep the presure on them, and should i do it urgent or i can wait for my replacement and then remove it ? becouse basicaly i need the phone to use it, but if in case it will damage my phone to the stage when those dots will not disapear i will not risk it.
What suggestion can you tell me ?
Kind regards
You'll be lucky to separate the glass from the LCD, I'm afraid.

Well this did not answear my question
Ok, I'll try again. Removing the cracked glass is likely to destroy your LCD.

well the question was about the yellow dots, how to remove the glass i watched on youtube and it is easy, just need to give some heat to make glue more flexible and it will easily pop off.

You can't replace the front glass alone without destroying the LCD. Yellow spots will be the least of your worries believe me. Do let us know how you get on.

well i will get my glass in 2 weeks, so will write you of my progress later, but i would like to know will those spots dissapear if everything will go well, or should i order a new lcd... the dots are not so big but still.
About a year ago I dropped my Dell streak from around 30cm. Because of the way it landed this cracked the gorilla glass.
So I ordered just the glass part, as like yourself the rest worked fine.
I stripped it down and took the screen out then set about separating the glass from the screen. I also did as you have and watched various YouTube vids to assist this.
Let me tell you, from my experience it was 2 hours down the pan. I did get the glass off, after much pulling, tugging, wiggling, heating and cooling. Only to find in the process that the actual screen underneath had ended up only fit for the bin. So I had to order the full assembly instead, this was fitted no problem.
Just my opinion though, if you want to tackle it go ahead, its your phone.
As for the yellow dots, can't help you on that I'm afraid.

Hi everybody I have a question regarding a screen problem I have.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post I accidentally spilt a lot of pure alcohol(the kind you use to disinfect a wound or something) on my HOX.
After a while the phone screen showed some strange grey shape on the lower right part of the screen and a bright white long shape looking like water jumping from a fountain on the left side starting from the bottom of the screen extending to almost the middle of the screen. After turning it off for 8-10 hours they grey shape dissapeared and the white remains and it doesnt look like it will ever go.
Strangely enough the HOX has no problem everything is working but I noticed that some apps are working somehow over the white shape covering it and some others like facebook seem to be under it making it visible.
I made some screen shots to show you the problem but stangely enough this white shape is not shown at all in the screen shots!!!!
Can anyone tell me where this thing might be?
LCD? Digitizer? elsewhere?
HTC funny enough suggested a factory reset to solve this and if that doesnt work(like there is a chance that it will...) to just send it to service.
I plan to play dumb to service hopping to fix this under my warranty as the phone has absolutely no scratch or anything anywhere as I never even dropped it once.
Do you think they can somehow find out what happened of maybe they will fix it under warranty?
Thanks a lot for your time reading this and I d love to have your opinions
Any photo?
Perhaps some alcohol got stuck between the lcd and glass...

Looks like overheating damage by a component beneath the screen, possibly something reacting to/affected by the alcohol.

When you say beneath the screen do you mean beneath the LCD as well or just beneath the glass?
I am just thinking that if its beneath the LCD it would probably not show plus the phone would have some kind of functional problem(it works just fine) wouldnt it?
Beneath the screen assembly. It looks like (possibly) some component or board has caused damage to or affected the digitizer, as your actual display seems ok.

So the service corrective action will be a screen assembly replacement or you think that something more will be needed?
Also if the digitizer was damaged wouldnt the phone use be affected?Cause the device has not been affected in anyway.
Everything works like it used to before this damage.
Send it of for repair, youll have to pay of course, how much tdo you like your phone?, that's the question.

I like my HOX very much otherwise why would I pay 428 euro to buy it?
Of course what makes the HOX stand out of the samrtphone crowd is the amazing display so of course I want it fixed.
I will try to cheat saying I know nothing about it(the phone doesnt even has a scratch) hoping waranty to cover this but if this doesnt work I ll have to pay 196 euro for screen replacement.
Although appart from that mark nothing else is affected I am worried that perhaps a screen replacement might not be enough if the digitizer is affected by something beneath it.
Do you think that a screen replacement will be enough to solve this problem?
HTC will give you the digitizer and LCD, especially if you end up paying, which will then get you a new bezel and unibody all still tapped up in protective coat, I've had it done for my phone, 160gbp.I even think you get the Onex+ version screen, gorilla glass 2.Could be wrong

Hello Guys.
I dropped my phone today and when I lifted it up my screen was blue/black. I pulled the battery out and turned it on. Most of the screen is black and can't see anything. There are strips of blue pixels here and there.
What exactly is broken and what do i need to replace. I obviously need to replace the Glass frame/screen, LCD ... do I need to replace the digitizer as well?
If anyone knows about this please help me out.

Is better change the complete set to avoid dust under the digitizer.

As long as I know any T999 i535 I747 will be compatible except I9300. I dont know why but some T999 users havd problems.
Is a good deal indeed. But If you can find some with frame includes will ve a very sweet deal.

I know sound expensive but you only will have to change the mainboard and components very easy without any need of stick or glue to install it on the frame.

Yeah I heard it should work and is cross compatible. But my question is if on that eBay link.. Are they selling everything I need to fix my problem or do I need to buy something else? I
It says: 1. Front Glass Touch Screen Digitizer Panel + LCD Display Screen pre-assembled without frame
That's all I need ?
Thanks

Yes, the only concern I have is the glue used to join the frame with the screen, if isn't professional installed this will be falling soon or getting dust an sand under the screen. Thats why I recommend the entire frame and screen set...

Unfortunately I don't have that money right now so I will settle with the cheaper method. I will try and see how it goes.
Thank you for your help.
