There's a group of user that can't install in any described way the CWM Recovery.
My question is: is there any way to root the phone without CWM ?
And.. Is there any way to install a Custom ROM via Fastboot or any other method (without CWM?)
Thanks! :good:

I think that no CWM recovery will work on my Wildfire S because I'v read that for lasts devices there's an updated video driver that cause error recovery's boot.

I've tried every method described on the index and in other forums.
The conclusion, as i wrote before, is that we have something different about our video part that blocks the booting of the custom recovery.
Thanks for the link, I'll try :good:

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446593&page=6 here you will find the stock recovery file. You flash it the same way you flashed the custom recovery.

yes you do though feel free to drop the reboot time to 60 seconds for recovery and 120 seconds for a rom flash

Only if you flash with ODIN.....
If adb, using "dd" command, not necessary.

Of course it can be used, but with care!!!
I agree....
there should always be a warning
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dd_(Unix)
It is jokingly said that dd stands for "disk destroyer", "data destroyer", "death and destruction", or "delete data", since when used for low-level operations on hard disks, a small mistake, such as reversing the if and of (input and output) parameters, could result in the loss of some or all data on a disk.

We already had one poor guy "brick" with "dd" misuse:

Sorry ,
but why would one want to remove
CWM ? Is there some issue with the software or is it a warrenty thing?
Apart from personal gusto, of course.

Without s off you can't write boot partition and for changing roms that is required. That's just how it is.

Probably didn't need to change the boot.img for that. I bet when you install CM10.1 like that now you end up in a bootloop !

If you're using a sense Rom, the stock boot.img will make it boot though you wouldn't get any of the tweaks.

I know its like TT said, a boot.img can not be flashed from inside the running OS or via an app on the phone .... It must be done in fastboot. Its impossible unless you have s-off.
Like i stated, try another rom completely different and you will see it does not work.

you want the *.tar file
so you can use Odin to flash the recovery
