There's a group of user that can't install in any described way the CWM Recovery.
My question is: is there any way to root the phone without CWM ?
And.. Is there any way to install a Custom ROM via Fastboot or any other method (without CWM?)
Thanks! :good:

I think that no CWM recovery will work on my Wildfire S because I'v read that for lasts devices there's an updated video driver that cause error recovery's boot.

I've tried every method described on the index and in other forums.
The conclusion, as i wrote before, is that we have something different about our video part that blocks the booting of the custom recovery.
Thanks for the link, I'll try :good:

You need to unlock from htcdev first then use weaksauce.

Weak sauce is for temp root with out unlocking or flashing super su binaries. I didn't want to unlock and only s-off but now i'm unable to. You dont need htcdev for weak sauce but it only works on the Verizon m8.

Correct. Here is exactly what I did in order. Unlocked the bootloader first via HTC Dev. Installed custom recovery and perm root via the HTC Toolkit. Then followed instructions on the Firewater link. Have S-Off, TWRP and Root now.

Did you lose the preload apps from /data/preload ?
I want to get a backup of those before I HTC Dev unlock if possible. I'm looking at the libs in system to see if I can find another one that would work for weaksauce. (I.E. it is just renamed and has the same exports)

If it's empty you lost them. I don't know their names, because without root, I can't get a directory listing.

Can't find anything that has an export for: "CopyFileCtl" which means no weaksauce on this phone. It looks like HTC Dev Unlock works fine, and so does the firewater s-off but you can't do it without flashing a recovery yet.

Can you confirm if /data/preload is empty after the htc unlock?
Barking up the wrong tree with the library. The same vulnerability exists (from what I have seen) but needs to be exploited in a different route than how the current version of weaksauce is doing it. I didn't build it for compatibility, i built it for easy of testing, as I do not have the device myself.
Dump system, upload it somewhere for me, no promises as I normally don't like to do roots for unlockable phones, but I am interested in finishing the exploit (the one I released is not "finished", as I didn't have the device when I wrote it, just the firmware).

Hello,
I'm currently using ARHD 10.2 and while installing it I've selected harman/kordon sound mod, however I think that boomsound was better for me,
So is there any way to revert back to boomsound without installing fresh ROM and while being S-on (can't change that)?
Reflash the rom without wipe but unselect the mod from the aroma.
s-on can be changed to s-off any day ....just use sunshine

I know it can be done using sunshine, but I'll probably change this phone soon, so it would be a waste of money.
I know I can reflash the rom, but I would need to remove all that bloatware once again, install all mods, change dpi and a lot of stuff, that's why I would like to change audio only.

Q&A for [RECOVERY][Hima] TWRP touch recovery
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [RECOVERY][Hima] TWRP touch recovery. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Please Help!
I followed all instructions to the tee; however, after I mounted the system and installed the SuperSu zip when I went to reboot it says no OS installed. I tried restoring from nandroid backup, but I get the same message, and my phone won't boot all the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of TWRP are you using? The "No OS installed" message is expected on that initial reboot.

TWRP-Recovery-2.8.6.0-Hima-CPTB.img is the one I am using. After the 4th attempt it finally booted all the way. Should I keep this recovery, or should I install the non-Beta version? I am rooted now and everything working properly.

So just a quick question.... During my rooting steps, I never did backup my stock system...I back up everything after I rooted..as there anyway to go back and start over? Or do I have to wait until a RUU comes out?<br/>

No way to start over. RUU or someone else's stock backup is the only option if you ever want to OTA.
Cool! Thanks!!
So...is it worth asking, does anyone with a un-touch stock backup they could upload for sprint???

I'm stuck in the same boat, you can either flash a custom rom, or if you want to remain stock you will have to restore to stock and update or return to stock and use magisk method. I'm lazy to return to stock
