Sorry didnot get u.

Without s off you can't write boot partition and for changing roms that is required. That's just how it is.

But man i am telli.g u i did it with venom 3.7

Probably didn't need to change the boot.img for that. I bet when you install CM10.1 like that now you end up in a bootloop !

If you're using a sense Rom, the stock boot.img will make it boot though you wouldn't get any of the tweaks.

I know its like TT said, a boot.img can not be flashed from inside the running OS or via an app on the phone .... It must be done in fastboot. Its impossible unless you have s-off.
Like i stated, try another rom completely different and you will see it does not work.

That rom is for PrimoC is your phone the CDMA version or the PrimoU (GSM)?
If yours is a primoU then you cannot use the C's ROMS on your phone (will do exactly the same things you write down here). Try this instead. It is the same ROM just for GSM.
his is cdma

route A
have you got the custom kernel installed (titanium) if so remove it, as it's not compatible with CDMA phones, and flash the stock boot.img for the VM\CDMA phone...then reinstall a rom..
Route B
there could be something up with the custom rom so try this one out, http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...e-V-Stock-ROM-Deodex-Odex&p=236726#post236726

[How to] Boot ALL Jellybean sense roms on cid unsupported devices

General Information
Since everything here is on fire because of the sense jellybean leaked firmware and many are crying that they do not have the appropriate CID to flash the new firmware, and some also replied to my post they are not able to boot with that UNOFFICAL and BETA METHOD i decided to write this short guide.
At first, i do not think that the rom flashed with this method is working as a daily for you, more a preview for when the devs found a way to bring the update also to carrier branded phones.
Things that are reported to work with trips 3.4.11 kernel but not with his 3.1.10 kernel are:
- Usb storage ( )
Things that will not work are:
- Sound
- Youtube App
- Wifi Dropouts, not for me but another person mentioned it
This method does not update your hboot. So you´re safe to go back. And one more time, this is just meant as a preview for now, so dont expect the full jellybean experience. be lucky that we have trip and can at least boot this
So here will be the general instructions for all jellybean sense roms.
1. Download your favourite jellybean sense rom and put it on your sdcard
A few of them:
ARHD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603 (not available for now)
IC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588669
Maximus: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601543
Ordroid: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836919
2. Download trips kernel from here: http://tripndroid.bindroidroms.com/TripNDroid_RVISED_3.4.11-002.zip put one copy on your phones sdcard and one on your pc
3. Repack trips boot.img found in the previously downloaded .zip with the ramdisk from the kernel which is included in your rom that you downloaded in the first step using this nice little tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815607
Put the repacked boot.img in your fastboot folder
4. Boot your phone into fastboot mode and flash the repacked boot.img you downloaded using following commands
------> fastboot flash boot boot.img
------> fastboot erase cache
5. after this boot into custom recovery and perform a full wipe (including system, data, cache, dalvik)
6. flash your rom (just in case: tick none of the options in aroma)
7. flash modules from trips kernel which you placed in step 2 on your sdcard
8. boot into your jellybean preview.
Credits to shnizlon for the rom, to TripNRaVeR for his 3.1.10 kernel that offers this possibility , finally to chrisoverson for online repacker
I´m not responsible for anything you do to your phone!

Hi a few people have confirmed that it works, but there are some bugs as stated in the op, so you can give it a try to see what all the fuss is about and so that you don't have to feel totally left out, but currently it can't really be used as a daily driver

Already try it one the day 2.0.0 out.. but the most i hate is no in call sound.
about sd bug, I think it is because of vold.fstab, as the sd mount is different as ICS, that why it not detected in JB.
I tried this last night, and YES it does work.
However it's pretty unusable and i ended up flashing back to viperX. Still it was nice to sample Jelly Bean.
I'm on T-MOB005 UK

Every JB sense rom boot using trip kernel, just repack it and flash.. Already try all JB ROM, but no fun for me, as it is too buggy for unsupported CID.
@OP : Why don't you change the thread to "how to flash Sense JB on unsupported CID device" as it could boot all JB Sense ROM.

i did it exactly as i described in the op yesterday in the evening and there were the bugs i explained above
your hboot is not upgraded while youre doing this procedure so you can easily flash back
and i also mentioned it´s most likely only for preview!
I try it my cid is t-mob101 and it work Sense jelly bean is nice but i have the Radio Bug..it works only if the screen is on...when it is locked and i turn it on i have Signal Bars but in lockscreen it shows no signal...it is Bad...but the hole rom is nice ..i hope someone fix the bugs

it could but the boot.img i provided is only for ordroid. i don´t think it will boot with insertcoin or arhd as they made custom ramdisk modifications. But you´re right, basically if you repack trips kernel with the jb sense roms kernel ramdisk it will boot i think

[Q] Please Help! Trouble with updating to Jellybean

Hello this is my first post and I come to request some help.
I have a htc one v and was trying to update to jelly bean through steps from Android Authorty's guide
After completing this set of instructions I booted up my phone and sadly all I got was a htc screen with the red writing which then turned black and nothing happened after that.
Im pretty worried right now, I dont have much knowledge about androids and I have but a clue as to what I have just done.
Is it permanently damaged? How do i fix this or atlest restore it to the factory state.
Please help!

Hey i just tried to do this and got error while making backup image of /system
OK so i figured out that i am truly a noob.
I was attempting to install the CDMA version when i needed GSM.
Proud of myself for solving this i went to install the gsm version but sadly now i only get the htc screen with red writing.
It dosent change from there.
Have i done permanent damage because i installed the CDMA version!?
now im getting something really weird my phone goes to the htc screen with red writing then shuts off by itself and then turns on again by itself in a endless cycle of this red writing htc screen.

Alright... let's get your phone fixed!
I assume you have:
1. Unlocked bootloader
2. Installed a recovery
3. Installed a custom CDMA ROM
4. Then installed a GSM ROM
5. Now phone keeps rebooting?
Is that correct?

Device not booting after first ROM flash

Hi guys, I am very new to this community and this is my first post. So this is what happened:
I had my One X for about 4 months now, and I was starting to want something new so I rooted it and unlocked the bootloader everything went just fine. So I realized root isn't the only big thing you can do to tweak your device so I wanted to flash a custom ROM. I wanted to customize it so I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611349 to customize CMOD 10 based on Jelly Bean and flash it to my device. So I finished my custom ROM and wanted to flash it to my device. So I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 (post 2 only (of course)).
At first when I tried to flash my custom ROM I didn't make any backup because I had Titanium backup and I thought that it does the same thing as recovery backup (now I know it doesn't) so I don't have the stock ROM on backup. I was disappointed that the device won't boot, it only shows the boot screen "HTC quietly brilliant". And then I saw boot.img I didn't knew what to do with it so I read about it and found out that I need to flash the boot.img before I flash the ROM. So I deleted everything again and done it all over again, but I flashed boot.img that came with the CM 10 first and then flashed the ROM itself. I've done everything correctly and my device still won't boot. It's over 20 minutes and still showing the "HTC quietly brilliant" like before the boot.img.
What should I do and very much thanks for the helpers I don't want to lose my device. :crying:
EDIT: I forgot to mention that this is my first android device.

Okay matey, here's your problem:
You need a special boot.img for your newer hboot version. Check post # 9308 in CM10 thread for link.
Unfortunately GPS doesn't work with this boot.img.

Probably something went wrong when you customized it. What exactly did you do? Why not just download it as it is?
And when you talked about github.... you mean you built it from source?

I did built it form source. I got in a folder 3 files: 2 folders: system and META-INF 3rd file is boot.img.
I probably don't know what to put in update.zip (what folders) would you tell me?
I customized some colors, battery skin on the status bar and fonts. I also customized build.prop and added adrenaline script so I got another folder named "data".
could you tell me how to pack it all to update.zip? I guess my problem is that.
P.S. I also sign it after packing it to update.zip with auto-signer using java.
THX in advance!
Here's one idea: Download the pre built zip of the rom and use it as a template. Replace all the folders inside with your own, custom ones.

I tried it this is the result... Don't you have an experience with ROM building?
Not sure if you understood correctly.
I meant you should dl the rom from get.cm and then replace the files with the ones you built and modified.
If this is exactly what you did, then I'm out of ideas.
I, in fact, haven't built a rom from source in my life.

I haven't built it from source. I downloaded the base CM10 mod and edited it's files and compressed and flashed to my device. But I am checking another option.
Why not flash the rom as it is and put your own stuff to system afterwards with adb or an file explorer ?

[Q] Will I get official OTA update if I unlock the bootloader ?

Hi everyone .
I'm new to xda.
I have 1 question..
Will I get the official OTA updates from htc if I unlock the bootloader ?
Yes ! As long as you don't remove system apps (edit the stock rom) !
You can update with these criteria
Stock rom (with or without root)
Stock kernel
Stock recovery
Unlocked bootloader

Are you sure about that? I can't see how Play can be deleted without at least root. If it is deleted then a factory reset might fix it but be sure to backup important data such add pictures and music first.

Check the status in the notification drawer"n when I slide down the drawer there is nothing downloading! ..

Yes rooting is fine, what you need to do before installing an OTA update is re-lock your bootloader. This is because the OTA update will try to install through CWM or whatever other recovery you have flashed.

Read the above ^^
A custom recovery will never install a HTC official update, not even when you relock the bootloader !

I suppose most people with root phone will have a custom recovery. So the first step would be flash back the "Stock recovery", then only can update.

Sorry...... I'm bad
I think of my own self only. In my case, I only rooted but without custom rom.
So I only need to flash back the stock recovery.

By entering the bootloader and then to recovery, if you see a sign with triangle and a phone icon you have stock. If it enters directly you can see its custom.
Not by checking the software on the phone. If its a custom rom it can be anything !
