Help! No signal/data after restoring stock backup (Sprint) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Here is what I did:
1. flashed CWM
2. backed up the factory stock ROM
3. Flashed Phantom's ROM
4. Booted back to CWM and restored stock ROM
No signa/data now. It's like I have no radio.
flashed the LG2 modem and still no signal/radio
Back to CMW. Flashed a stock/deodexed/rooted ROM = no signal/data
What could be the problem? Help!

Did you happen to lose your IMEI?

Ahve you look at setting and try to update prl and profile, also check in settings, about device and status to check for IMEI

I do have the IMEI. It's a 15 digit number.
I just flashed the factory restore ROM with ODIN and still no data/signal

Need assistance to help a friend...

A buddy of mine trashed his SGS3 and got it stuck in a boot loop.
He was also handicapped by being on a MAC
As he was able to get into both download mode and recovery, (CWM 5.5.0.x) I assured him he could recover his phone..
Got him to dl loaded the following ROM, and got it copied to his external SD card:
[ROM] Deodexed + Completely debloated T999UVLEM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752327

Then booted into recovery, did a factory reset, installed the ROM, (twice) then did a fix permissions
His SGS3 will now boot up to the desktop, and shows the phone signal
The remaining issue is he does not have data working, and there also seems to be an issue with the "home" button.
If this was my Sprint SGS3, I would be thinking there is a SW issue with the modem drivers or some such, but I am unsure how to check/verify this on the t-mobile version, and was looking for tips on what to load, and/or what to check to resolve the lack of data signal on his SGS3.
Phone info:

Does he still have his IMEI? Might either need to inject the IMEI back in, or if it's still intact, you might just want to try and Odin back to stock and start from scratch.

Does he still have it? easiest way to check is *#06# on dialer
Also is there a possibility it might be blacklisted ?

I'd think flashing a stock Rom for the exact model number should do the trick.

So there is no programming? Like PRL, or anything else?
PRL is the preferred roaming list. I'm pretty sure if you flash EL29 One Click Odin it should restore the phone to its Sprint like ways.

Find EL29 One Click from Sfhub and apply it. Then do ##786# and perform a factory reset from here as this will clear the NVRAM data. This should clear the NVRAM data and force a hands-free activation on Sprint during the next boot and solve the problem.

Everything in the ROM will be reset, but not the alternative carrier flash. I know because I'm flashed to cricket and used an Odin one-click to root with no adverse affects to my flash.
Other tools are needed to flash back to Sprint that i know of, but I'm not familiar with them, sorry. But...
If the phone was flashed to a Mexican carrier because it has a bad ESN with Esprint , then you're out of luck there. If the ESN is good, then check the link i found below. It's from Cricketusers but should apply to your current carrier (I'm saying SHOULD... Just trying to help and point the way).

I think its a sprint issue. A lot of times when I flash a new ROM it will do that before data has a solid connection you can try the sprint diagnostics app. All credits go to big rush dog and team eos. I'll post a link for you as soon as I upload it to my drop box. Please visit the team eos thread in the spring gnex forums and thank big rush dog.
Edit: here's your link. Just flash it in recovery, and it will install the app.

I have the same problem as well...Nuthin wrong with the phone at all...When I reboot I just cancel out and let it reboot...I can update the PRL tho just not Profile...I read that not being to update profile would have an effect on LTE...But we just got LTE where Im at and Im smokin in the mid to high 20's Mbps...so I can see that not updating the Profile had no effect at all...Im doin the new JB Domination Rom 10.2 today...And Im gonna Reodin today just for the Hell of it and do a clean Wipe for the new Rom and see what happens... Ill try to update Profile while at stock before Root and see what happens...But the way Ive been runnin now it dosen't phase me at all...So if it goes back to the way it was...Its really no problem...And like somebody said it could be on Sprints end as well...But theres no way I would return the Phone to the store...

Factory reset leaves info? Fix?

Hey I'm trying to sell my S3 and after a factory reset and wiping everything in TWRP my name, email address and phone number is still under About device/Status. How do you remove this info? I really don't feel comfortable selling it to a stranger with all that info remaining is there a better wiping method? I'm not finding this anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Is it a hassle to obtain your msl? When I had an HTC evo lte it was as simple as running an app with root permissions.

Edit : the only is on MB1 and per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t= I need to downgrade and flash an LJ7 ROM which will let me get the code via terminal. So after I obtain my MSL I just go in the settings and delete my info right?

You are correct about the downgrade to get the MSL. There is a root app but it stopped working a while ago. I know that under the ##rtn# screen there is an option to Reset the activation data but I am not positive that will clear the phone number.

I've found this http://www.android.gs/downgrade-sprint-galaxy-s3-jelly-bean-stock-rom/ and it says to use ClockworkMOD recovery but im currently on TWRP. I've done this before to sell my Sprint S3 and can confirm that the dialer method does not work when rooted. In oder to do what you're requesting you'll need to transfer your account to another device. After doing this, the best way to clear out your info on the S3 and sell it is to
1) download the app "Get My MSL". It will most likely give you an error when tapping the "Get My MSL" option in the app at first.
2) open dialer and enter ##DATA#
3) When prompted to enter MSL code just choose any single digit number and enter it 6 times
4) once the popup message appears go immediately back into the "Get My MSL" app and select the option again and it will give you your MSL code. Make sure to save the code somewhere safe.
5) Now that you have your code, ODIN your phone back to complete 100% stock with the LJ7 stock tar file.
6) Once done, skip through the setup wizard upon first boot up and go straight into your dialer and enter ##786#
7) select "Reset" then enter MSL and hit "OK" .
8) select "OK" again on the "Reset to manufacture defaught" popup. It will reboot your phone.
9) Let it do it's thing in stock recovery and once booted up cancel the hands free activation and everything should be cleared out in "About Phone" in settings.

The build number for the firmware (aka modem/radio) is separate from the build number of the rom itself. Go into the dev section and search for a the LJ7 modem and flash that

Follow the procedure above actually to the dot. Why? because If you try doing this while being rooted I GAURANTEE you will have problems and will wind up coming back here asking for help again but this time with another issue. To save you the trouble I highly recommend following the steps above. ODIN back to complete 100% stock LJ7. I've heard of some people not having much success trying this on MB1 but I haven't tried it myself as I am no longer with Sprint but I still support the forums. The last I have tried it on was on LJ7 and I along with many others have had success on that build so LJ7 would be your best bet. Modem and build are separate but flashing a tar file through ODIN will update everything, including the modem back to LJ7. If you wanna sell the phone rooted on the latest firmware then again follow the steps and after you've gotten through the last step, make sure to be connected to wifi so you may receive the MB1 update and then FINALLY root it. It may sound like a lot to do but it's really not.. so long as you know exactly what you're doing. Following this procedure is not only your safest way in selling a phone but it's also the BEST way to fully clear your ESN! (even after deactivation) Like I said I did this and my buyer was 100% satisfied.
Good luck!

not difficult at all. You can unroot back to any of the stock firmwares that have been released on the Sprint S3. The problem is that many of the links here are broken and I'm trying to prevent you from unrooting all the way back to an ICS stock firmware requiring you to accept 1 too many OTAs. So Like I said I recommend LJ7 but I just realized I actually did wind up deleting the LJ7 file on my pc when I switched to T-Mobile. My apologies but I did manage to find one of my subscribed threads that will return you back to stock MB1 without a pc. They are flashable zips, just like flashing any ROM, and the op says the MB1 issues have been fixed. Again, I wasn't able to test this out but it's intended to do the same work as ODIN so it's worth a shot and a much easier approach. Report back with your results and good luck!

They are flashable zips, just like flashing any ROM, and the op says the MB1 issues have been fixed. Again, I wasn't able to test this out but it's intended to do the same work as ODIN so it's worth a shot and a much easier approach. Report back with your results and good luck!

not difficult at all. You can unroot back to any of the stock firmwares that have been released on the Sprint S3. The problem is that many of the links here are broken and I'm trying to prevent you from unrooting all the way back to an ICS stock firmware requiring you to accept 1 too many OTAs. Ok so with my current state I'm on a LJ7 ROM and flashed the LJ7 modem, after I get my MSL number I should flash the Stock MB1 ROM method you just posted then continue with resetting back to manufacture settings in ##DATA# and I should be gold correct? I thank you once again for your help!

First of all, in this case don't worry about flashing any modems. Also, ##DATA# is what you'll need in the beginning to obtain your MSL. ##RTN# or ##786# is what you'll be entering at the end to return to manufacture default. To keep it simple for you, just follow the same step by step procedure I posted in the previous page BUT once you get to step 5, replace that with the MB1 post above and once done proceed to step 6 and so on. As long as you follow my instructions correctly you should have no issues.

[Q] No mobile network on sprint note2 after flashing

Hi, newbie here. I bought a brand new Samsung galaxy note 2 from sprint and I jail broke it using the ordin tool kit. Well, according to root checker it was successful. but here is where I am having problems. I flashed about 3 different ROMS to it but I cannot get any mobile network on phone. There is an X over the signal strength on phone screen. When you go to settings , then status it says:Network unknown, Mobile network type unknown, Service state out of service, My phone number unknown , Mobile network state disconnected, MIN unknown, PRL unknown, MEID unknown, IMEI unknown, ICCID unknown. The internet works only via wifi. I called sprint to verify that that my services are still current and i even got the MSL # from them. Any ideas on how to solve this problem is greatly appreciated.
Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Model# SPH-L900
Android Version 4.1.2
Base band version UNKNOWN
Kernel version 3.0.36Perseus-alpha
Build number Goodness Noteworthy v1.0.6
I had the same problem. It did it for me by updating/reflashing the latest modem

You should find the latest modem versions here. Even if you had them, reinstall.
It should fix your issue

I have the same issue and have tried using the latest modem but it still happens. I also have the same issue when restoring nands from cwm and twrp. Going to try a couple of the older modems and hopefully one of them will work.
What I did I installed the modem again and the kernel. I had started a thread in which I helped myself lol. But it's either the kernel or the modem. After that I never again had an issue.
The reason I eliminated the kernel is that pretty much every ROM has its own kernel.
But then again im no expert. Just a guy who got the same problem resolved in the same device

Try the Sprint activation command. ##SCRTN# it works for me.
Stepped down to ljc modem and now my flashed cricket settings stick. No matter how I flashed mc2 modem (recovery or Odin) nothing stayed after flashing, restoring, or factory reset. Also my signal was stronger with the older modem.

I've been having an issue where I'm not receiving any phone calls, I tried this code and it didn't help. I've tried different types of codes and even called Sprint but nothing has changed. Still not receiving phone calls.
Anyone have any other dialer codes that I can try that may help? No problem sending or receiving texts, no issues making calls.
I've tried a few different roms, clean wipes, restores of nandroids, mc2 and ma7 modems. Right now, I'm on Synergy. Updated prl and profile as well.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Lets get some more info
1. You are using a sprint note 2?
2. Are you on sprint service or flashed to another?
3. What version were you on before the issue started and/or before you started flashing roms 4.1.1, 4.1.2, or 4.3?
4. Have you flashed any roms through odin?

Well my first suggestion would be to flash a stock mk4 (4.3) rom via odin. I will edit this in a moment with a link.

I just tried that but still has the red x
Guys you have to do a manual provisioning of the phone. Since your phone has no valid entries you will not get a signal or be able to provision via data connection. I can't recall the hash code to get into manual provisioning but that's exactly what you have to do in this case. It's best just to call Sprint tech support and they can step you through it as well as give you the correct parameters, min, etc. Been there done that.
Handsfree sprint activation is ##72786#
Hoping this helps

I would have suggested Hands Free Activation but it won't work because the phone can't connect to service in its current state. Manual provisioning is the only way to get the phone back in service. Call Sprint tech support because they can give you the correct numbers and other entries that must be correct in order for the phone to connect to any service.
