Htc One X Performance - HTC One X

Hi, what u guys (and ladies) think about performance of this phone, I'm not happy at all... I buy hi-end phone with quad core, but for example GTA III seems to be lagging, this game was much more smooth on my Sensation with OC to 1,7. NOVA 3, also is laggy. I'm using viper 1.01 rom with faux kernel, with stock kernel was the same. How are u feelings about this?

Nova is not lagging for me at all. Try the latest kernel of faux(004b6), also use hamdir's gaming guide. About those games being smoother on the sensation, that's sort of to be expected. Those games can't do anything with the tegra 3 because it's not optimized. The developers, especially gameloft, does not care for tegra. They depend on raw power, where as tegra depends on optimization. I'm also using faux kernel with viperrom. Try hamdir's gaming guide, and remember the interactive governor is broken on the latest faux kernel so you should use ondemand.
I think it would've also been more appropriate to post this in the before mentioned gaming thread. You're answer would've been very quickly answered.

I was disappointed with the performance with the One X when I first got it as well. It was getting ****e Quadrant scores. Laggy interface and crap game performance.
I slapped on InsertCoin, flashed Franco's latest kernel, ran V6 supercharger and followed hamdir's gaming guide and it fixed everything. I now get about 800 more points in Quadrant, and games run perfectly smooth.

But it sucks, that we have to read 100 articles, perform some magic, to be able to play hd games when buing quad core phone, wich isn't cheap... I bet on SG III everything working fine

I know, we don't have to do so much just to play games decently. As far as I know, everything is not so smooth sailing for the s3.

this is the problem with u people u buy a device n have the burning sensation that the alternative does better
let me tell u this every trick in the gaming guide I actually learned from the sgs2 forums
I guess they really needed all those governor tweaks too, let me tell u something else
don't ever expect full performance out of ur mashine when all default android CPU governors come so heavily tweaked to save battery
the on-demand default only calls full speed at 90% load, the interactive default only calls it at 97% load that's really conservative, the situation is the same on every other device
I remember I had the same gov issue with my sensation stock (In ARHD mike had them optimized) also had the issue with my DHD
android = non game friendly governors that needs to be tweaked
and finally the Asus prime comes with a performance profiles built-in and this app all it does is load the very same optimized values in my guide and scripts
u don't need to read anything just use my scripts, also the latest ARHD has the on demand optimized out of box if u can't bother
oh and nova 3 as well as most GL games runs smooth as butter on sgs3 because GL optimizes for Mali devices and neglect Tegra, maybe because of some unannounced contract
so go get it be happy

its still a tortoize :'(

hey guys m a noob i have in this roooting process for like just a few months and have changed around dozen roms.i currently on cm7.2 latest verison and my fone crashes around 5-6 times a day.i am using cm7 performance tuning as cpu 729-729(performance) compcache 26% vm heap is 64.in order to speed up the device i have installed sd speed increase on 3072kb but no results.my fone has around 60apps of which 55 are on internal memory while 5 on sd card i used mtd partion and partions were as system 130mb,cache 20mb,and internal 315mb.my fone lags like anything i was using adw launcher the other time but it crashed every 5times
now i am using go launcher and it is atleast not crashing now but it is very using as if i m using 512mhz processor.the games are also very slow ninjump is very annoying on the device.i surfed the internet for qvga temple run but it force closed and so with other games like nfs shift(not responding) and gangstar west cost (unresponsive)
did i rooted it wrong should i root over again?
also i flashed ruu and then also flashed cm7 but still its laging.
using the stock kernel of cm7
please help ASAP
Dissemble your phone ,cut your processor into 4 pieces and you will have a quad core.It will then become super fast like a leopard.
Sent from My Samsung Galaxy S2 running Paranoidandroid Rom.What else if not?=P
This is nothing to do with rooting. You should know that wildfire doesnt have a gpu in it so the games dont run as they are suppose to be running. So overclocking doesnt do any significant good to its performance.
I see that you are running it at 729/729 which according to me is too much because the device heats up quite a lot with these settings and also leading to craches. Try atleast lowering the lower value. I personally use 691/352 with smarassv2 and it doesnt give me much lags with the scripts I use. Mind you I use adw launcher with all the animations enabled.

i know wildfire doesnt comes with a gpu but ninjump should work flawless with overclocked processore my fone doesnt gets heated even on 729 if i use if for more than 6hours in straight and by temple run and gangsta i meant those games were mend to be compatible for a arm v6 processor still they arnt working even if i try everything with chainfire 3d
Yes they are compatible with armv6 processor thats why you are able to run them. But mind you games need graphic processing. Slow processor without gpu (graphic processing unit) can not do all the processing by itself.
Still there are many scripts available here on xda which can improve the performance of our device. You can try those and see if they help you.
:banghead: and then with some rolleyes.
using my thanks as likes
Just because you can't feel the heat doesn't mean it's not there before the phone gives in, every cpu has a different tolerance level.
Drop your cpu speed and it should stop the rebooting, I've heard of people that can't go above 691 before too.
As for the games its been said before many times, no gpu=no good graphical games, this cpu can't handle it. If you want a good phone that can don't buy bottom of range phones that have been out for years.

I have searched a lot but only wat I could do was to increase performance a little and that too unstable if you can be so kind to give me links of the scripts you are talking about I would be thanful to you.also you said games are compatible for arm v6 but temple run v6 verison doesn't opens in my fone it just force closes everytime I try to open it while I have seen many galaxy y users run temple run.I am not complaining about the performance(no gpu) but atleast they run do you have a solution?

First of all read my post correctly, I gave you advice on how to stop the random reboots? How is that not being helpful?
Secondly it doesn't matter if they are compatible with armv6 they use a more advanced graphics engine which will just not work for us. I'm also guessing that a galaxy y has a gpu?? (correct me if I'm wrong).

[Q] Roms and gaming

Hi all!
I wanna ask you something about gaming with this powerful smartphone: all of us are trying many roms, MIUI roms, CM9 roms, Sense-based Roms, Leedroid, ARHD etc with a lot of kernels, EP kernel, Franco Kernel, Bricked Kernel...
Which couple Rom- Kernel is the best for gaming? In all the Sense- based Rom I've seen that Shadowgun v1.1.2 [ tegra3 effects ] have some lags while firing at the enemies... Or fruit ninja lags when I put a finger for cutting fruits...
Can you answer this? Remember, battery life is important, but this Tegra3 is meant for gaming... Go to see what is coming: Renaissance Blood, an example.
Thanks in advance.
I am using ARHD 6.0.0 and with stock rom all games are running perfectly.

Don't think the rom makes a big difference. Saw an article yesterday on the xda portal where a person has a way to optimize the gpu. It was called v6 supercharger.

V6 supercharger doesn't do anything to the graphics processing unit(gpu)... It is a script that changes the oom(out of memory) values and optimizes them for better e.g. Multitasking .. By the way editing oom values is useful only in low ram devices...

Maybe the rom cannot make a lot of difference, but now I'm on Insertcoin and games are not flawless as I was thinking. Before that, I was on Miui release, and seems to be best for gaming. Must try all of that, now try ARHD. Thanks, forumhookerdotcom

I know it doesn't do anything to the gpu, but it allows you to use a higher processing power. It sets the minimum values to 1ghz. Apparently some games which don't optimize tegra 3 is sometimes jumping around with the amount of cpu it uses. For example from 1.2ghz to 600mhz. That is apparently causing the game to lag/stutter. Some games only use 1 - 2 cores.

You're right they do make a difference. I think in General the small/lite roms do work best for games. Will also try ARHD sometime, waiting for latest Leedroid first. Want to upgrade and restore later to Lee's rom.

The phone only uses one or two cores because it only needs one or two cores. What the problem probably is is the switching of CPU frequency slots

yes, lots of people hitting over 7 k
I keep it at 1500 myself, but tried at 1640 with fsync faster, cpu online and force gpu rendering with trinity kernel and stock rom gets you past the 7 k mark, try it
back on topic, seems like batman ran fine not the type of choppiness that was in spiderman, seems like its a game issue.
It's very laggy. Batman runs great but for whatever reason spiderman runs horribly for me.

Smoother maybe. More powerful , how exactly ?
The GPU in the exynos processor has more power than the tegra. As it uses a smaller architecture.

Neither does stating that. Honestly there is no exact proof that either is noticeably faster. Both phones are 1.4/5 GHz quad-core devices. Yes the S3 has more RAM and a faster GPU but 2GB of memory isn't needed for this type of android device and it actually doesn't make it faster. Unlike the S3 gpu the tegra 3 has built in ram for the GPU (S3 uses integrated ram)
. The HOX also has a 5th deep sleep core and if you have seen the sense 4.1 deep sleep you will be amazed.
I could see the HOX have better benchmarks than the S3 but that doesn't mean it's faster or better. The devices are too different yet equal to compare and choose which one is better.

Oh right thank you, I was confused then.
Also to contradict your point all of the problems you mentioned but the multitasking have all been ironed out? So? Yeah bench marks mean quite a lot.
I love my everything about my phone atm haha.

Another thread for HOX vs GS3.....
1st of all, welcome aboard to Android 4.0.4.
Higher benchmark is nice though is not important.

butt isnt the S3 all about benchmarks? the Mali400 is the only reason why the s3 ever gets better benchmarks even though the A9's are clocked slower, quad clocks are the same. The Mali400 is a great gpu but it uses integrated memory and the only reason i would ever say the Tegra 3 is better than the Exynos 4412 is because it has a dedicated GPU and a 5th idle core...... though i can only imagine samsung having a quadcore device with a dedicated gpu and a 5th companion core (nexus device hehehe).
Dont forget to tell that our oc is for daily use, not only to do a great benchmark and then go back to stock kernel.

Nah... GS3 is not just about benchmark. That was GS2. This time, GS3 is about features, nature UX and of course 1st phone designed for human

Yep, and an adv for teens and girls.

So because stock HOX scores higher benchmarks on both Antutu & Quadrant, Samsung users don't like those boasting tools anymore?
If only the HOX had the better screen, design and camera too..... LOL

So a fake chinesse copy of a sg3 is consider as an original Samsung ?
Nice try
Htc One X Venom ViperX Rom + faux123 s kernel + Rezound Mod
Mine got 5912 on stock rom, no tweaks or anything, just root. Havent seen any stock SGS3 reach that score yet. All the HOX needed is proper optimizations for its SoC like samsung has to prove it can match and even beat its flagship in some areas
So, better screen, better camera, beats, better ui (imo) faster updates due to htc's track record vs sammy, more mainstream SoC for better game support and general compatibity for the future due to N7 using the same chip. Do we really have to feel threatened by the SG3? Its a hype machine just like the fruit phone

Overclocking One V

A few questions about overclocking
First, is this even working? I'm using the latest PA ROM.
What are the best possible settings that don't damage the phone?
Sent from my One V using xda premium
Yes overclocking is definitely working. U can notice a sharp difference between lower and higher values...don't overclock above 1.7 GHz it may damage ur phone...

All roms can be over clocked...it depends on the kernel

ohhh i see. so are all kernels that are compatible with the phone compatible with all roms?

You guys.... stop scarying the people already. Overclocking your device will not break it in any case, most likely will shorten YOUR BATTERY LIFE! But that's it! You will not fry your phone, motherboard, display or whatever. I can ramp my phone upto 2ghz and it has nothing... But 1024 mhz or 1200 is enough!
I had OCed hellboy to 2 GHz...it felt stable but the phone crashed every time i opened an app...anyways 1.2 is best works so smoothly...best for everyday use...

When I overclock to 1.5ghz I don't notice any difference at all ...why ?also if I sometimes try 2.0ghz the phone becomes laggy like hell

Difference is there. Just to be sure that your phone works at that range (and its not a rom/kernel problem) - install Perfmon from the market and open the CPU section - It will then show you in real time at what range your CPU works. And if 2.0 gh becomes laggy it is because your cpu can go that high. Some cpu's can and others can't. That's just how they work. My old HTC Hero could go upto 691 from 526 default but other HTC Heroes could go upto 740....
Yo Son, Just OC'ed my V to 1.8GHz, it flys. Kill those animation.
When I oc'ed to 2.0GHz stability test Crashed dawg. Stability test it son!
BTW: When I drop to 1.9Ghz throttling issues Nig. So bench your one V too.
now I'm at 1.8GHz it's stable and no heat issues at all.

May I ask why? Not about AnTuTu.. but Quadrant Standard is great!! Even helps in choosing a better ROM.. a little..:cyclops:
The only use I have for benchmarking apps is to compare changes in roms and kernels on your own phone. If you use the same app to benchmark, you can see the different performance gains and losses in various rom and kernel combinations. i really don't think they do any good comparing performance between different phones, but for checking on your own mods they do come in handy.

Use benchmark to determine throttling
Here are some tips I know which increases the benchmark rating..
Use PERFORMANCE as the Governer after overclocking.. And disable 'Force use of GPU for 2D Drawing' in developer options.

Ya I know that games lag. I just told for the 'Benchmark'.. 'cause I've always noticed my benchmark increasing when I disable it..
Of course I enable after the bemchmark! Wonder why does the benchmark increase...
