So around 2 weeks ago I was using my G2 at a McDonald's and all of a sudden it turned off . . . Long Story short, it's stuck on the HTC screen. I can access Bootloader but doing recovery or factory reset does not do anything. I cannot access adb but I can use fastboot

I also tried flashing several PC10IMG.zip files to no avail as each would end up with a "MAIN VERSION IS OLDER" error. I also made a GoldCard but have no idea how to properly apply it to the situation. Please I have spent 3 days working on this, I need help.
posting in more than one spot won't get you any more help, next time root your phone right away and many of these types of issues are easily fixed
you are unrooted and s-on so most things won't work
retry the goldcard and then follow the downgrade procedure found in setherios guide or the xda wiki on the vision
truthfully you may not have much of a chance here but if you want some real time help just log onto freenode and you'll know if you have a brick or not in no time
good luck!

It can allow you to downgrade to an exploitable hboot, thus is the first step in getting S-Off.

I just purchased a HTC DESIRE HD from Telus. All attempts to root the device have failed even with the Visionary tool. I noticed that it has a fairly new HBOOT 0.85. I'm wondering if this has new security that prevents the device from being rooted. Has anyone had any luck?
Thanks
Did you make a gold card? if so, retry again and on a different micro sd card.
also make sure you do a full format on the memory card, not a quick one.
make sure your phone is in disk mode when making the gold card.
which guide are you following?
Visionary
I'm following the guide here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
The temp root does not work it starts and then screen just stays black. There's no mention of a gold card in this one...can you recommend a better guide to follow?
Thanks
Here is the thread for Telus Desire HD

So you clicked on the downgrade thread and followed everything to the "T"? If you follow his guide, you will root!

Ive done my spoon feeding for the day
I can confirm it works
I have a telus Desire HD HBOOT-0.85.2007, rooted, s-off, simunlocked that I've owned for exactly one week. It took me way longer then the estimated time and I ran into a ton of issues. I ending up spending countless hours reading threads till my eyes felt like they were bleeding. In the end though I'm fully rooted and learning more daily. XDA's forums are very extensive its all about finding good ways to sift through them (god bless the search tool). Hopefully through a couple more months of extensive reading/experimenting I'll be able to remove my noob crown.

I had to do it the long way, and could not skip the part he tagged as redundant. Also when I was done all worked great but I ended up with a better signal by flashing the TELUS radio found on this site.
Im new at this, so forgive me if this sounds like a dumb question..but is this really what you have to do to unlock the sim card?
Because thats I'll i really want to do. Is there another guide just for that? or pretty much you have to turn off the S-radio and follow the long and hard way?
Please follow the post i made above. Take your time and go slow. One step at a time.

Most of them won't notice, I sent my 1st rooted, s-off DHD back in, but I'm American, and AT&T doesn't know anything about development. but the ACE hack tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259821) can easily reset your DHD to stock, just press "o" ... simple eh?
If I helped you, please hit thanks!

Click on the filefactory link in the first post. These are the newest available RUU.
From your location tag, since ur from UK, the RUU roms available from the link above are only for Three_UK, TMobile_UK and Orange_UK.
As a reminder rooting and downgrading after the repairs from these RUU will require a goldcard, the warranty repair center will upgrade your rom anyway to the newest version anyways as per their procedure.
The ACE Hack tool return to stock above only works for for AT&T, Telus and WWE CID HTC__001.
Forgot to mention my dhd is unbranded I've read the advanced kit but its quite hard to understand :/ can anyone help me with a breakdown of what I'm supposed to do?? The user above who said just press 'o' what does that mean?

Hello, Having this WFS clogged with factory apps that leaves me with about 15MB of space is really annoying. I have tried multiple approaches to gain some control, but nothing has worked. Going to HTCDEV to unlock the boot-loader left me with a 130 error code, so I updated my drivers, sync and even installed the SDK and JDK files. Nope. Apparently my 2.3.4 version won't let me do any of it. I cannot even get to the flashing recovery step. Rooting and/or unlocking sounds nice, but I can't seem to even start either process. Can anyone give me some pointers in what to do to delete some of these factory apps? I have absolutely no control over my phone TIA.

I second that. There's a sticky with almost every important thread for the wfs linked at the top of the page. Recoveries/guides/kernels..... Something like that.

I think you should probably go to www.htcdev.com and use there unlock method. For what you want, its what you should do. I just reccomend this because soff can cause noobs problems, especially when SuperCID'd .... But i digress. htcdev allows for kernels roms recoveries and root

All the ways in xda? Don't use visionary, don't use htc offial hboot unlock. Follow wiki to downgrade and obtain root. Where is your problem, what have you done so far

The wiki method works. Should it not, you're doing something wrong, try searching info about your issue, or join #g2root @ freenode irc.
And while you're at it, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA

You need to be a *lot* more specific about what you're doing and exactly what is working, or we can't help you.
Use the method explained in the XDA Wiki. Read it carefully first and ask questions if you're not clear on something. If you get stuck, then post up exactly what you're trying and what messages/behaviour you're seeing.

hey guys
okay for starters, I have looked almost everywhere for a solution and tried a lot of different things/files.
So my phone is the T-mobile HTC G2, It is un-rooted, S-ON, and I should be on the latest update of 2.3.4
I have never rooted it the whole time I had my phone (1 year+) and recently the phone froze, so I took out the battery, put it back in and powered it on. Resulted me in a boot loop. I cant get past my "Tmobile G2" screen.
When I go into HBOOT this is what it says:

I have tried factory reset, cache clear, factory clear. Nothing works.
I have tried flashing stock or custom stable ROMS to see if it would get me out, but the stocks give me an error basically telling me my phone is already on the latest version And for custom roms, I get a "signature verification error"
I have tried some PC10IMG's but none of them actually go through and update my phone.
I honestly have no idea what to do, I just need a working phone, please help? :crying:

Well if you would go to the chanel you would know it isnt closed and you would get with your problem
Being you dont have root, you have a locked bootloader and you have tried the basics there isnt much that can be done here.
If you want to try some more, then go to the irc chat, if then well....
