ics leak rom (CWM flashable) - LG Nitro HD

I know I'm new here but I just got a nitro HD but the battery life is disappointing me (came from a Vibrant) I'm running CM9 7/8 with the HO!NO! kernel V5 right now. I wanted to try the ICS leak by HO!NO! because some say they have better battery life there but the download link isn't working for me.
Does anyone have a mirror? or tips to get better battery? (without the extended battery, that's my last resort)
Thanks in advance

Battery life has been disappointing me too. I'm using ICS Leak non HO!NO! but hopeless.
Won't stand a day without charing.
I have to carry charger everywhere I go.
Extended Battery is the best idea. But I have to sacrifice my Ballistic Case.
I got an extended battery two days ago from Ebay for $15 but unfortunately I got a defect one. Waiting for a replacement.

Dang that sucks... thanks for the reply man. I have a ballistics case too (came with the phone b/c I bought it off Craigslist), good thing I don't use it.
I guess I'll have to invest in an extended battery then. Might go with the Hyperion one, seems like it has decent reviews

Have you tried running CM9 without HO!NO!'s kernel? Though I appreciate his work, I've been just using the built-in kernel lately (mostly out of laziness) and I don't have any battery life complaints really, although I admit I'm not the most active user.

Oh damn, seriously? I'll give that a try. Thanks for the tip. hope it works =)

Honestly, you should get a second battery and/or external charger. These large, beautiful screens and LTE radios are power hungry. There's not a ROM or kernel for any high-end phone that will go a day with heavy usage. You need cpu spy and better battery stats to weed out wake locks, but even then there's no magic pill. I've found screen on time is the best metric for knowing how long you can last. With this phone it seems to be 3-4 hours. IPhone 4S and Windows aren't much better.

Dang. Sadly youre right. The default kernel seemed to help battery a bit but its not enough. That extended battery isn't a pain right? It makes the phone pretty fat from what I've seen
Thanks for the reality check btw haha

It almost doubles the weight and thickness.

I used SetCPU and set it to not go over 1026mhz. I also turn off GPS when I'm not using it. My battery life has almost tripled.

If you're using CM9, there are a lot of tweaks you can do to help with battery. Take a look at HO!NO!'s Full throttle post as he makes some suggestions. In my experience it's generally been the screen that eats all of my battery. You can tweak the brightness settings to be slightly dimmer to see if that helps.
You could also look into Juice defender. Never used it myself but I've heard people have great success with it

You could also check out this post for Battery life tips for the ICS leak. It looks like underclocking + CPU Sleeper + tweaking screen brightness will help improve your battery the most

In the past few weeks I've ran the ICS Leak, stock CM9 RC1 and CM9 RC2 with Juice Defender. For me, the best battery was the ICS Leak, RC2 w/JD being second best but not as stable. RC1 is essentially an unplugged drain when it comes to preserving battery life. Out of the blue the phone would be hot to the touch and shedding battery, just sitting in my pocket.
I also just got the extended battery, its bigger and heavier but you get used to it pretty fast, I don't mind it at all. In fact, the new back cover is of better quality than the one that came with the phone. It fits better and feels more sturdy. That plus the added weight actually gives it a better feel, for me at least.

thanks for the responses everyone
Nitro battery got better for me after a week or so of usage on the stock (I'm guessing it took some usage for the rom to calibrate the battery readings properly) but I ended up getting the extended battery anyways (hyperion) and I love it
At first it was kind of bulky and big to me, but like some of you say it was easy to get used to. Battery life is amazing now on CM9 RC2. I'm at 1 day and 3 hrs with airplane mode on, wifi on (wifi phone for me), and 2hrs and 32min screen time. Battery is now at 53%

[Q] Multiple subject question regarding battery life

Okay, so the thing is I have an HTC Evo 4G with the following:
- The latest RC of CM7 (not a nightly or anything like that)
- A 3500mAh battery from Sedio
- Whatever default kernel comes with CM7
- A Sedio case made just for the extended battery
I like the Sedio case and everything, but I kind of want to use something else that looks better or feels better. That, and my current Sedio case is quite bulky and I could do with less of that bulk.
But the thing is I love the insane battery life the Sedio battery has given me. The 3500mAh is incredible and I can usually go about 4 days on a single charge and with moderate use. I don't really want to give up good battery life, but I want to get a different case for once that isn't so bulky.
Then I did some reading around and found out I can still get decent battery life after downgrading to a smaller battery if I use Juice Defender and pick the proper kernel. I've fallen back on my Galilio 2000mAh battery so the original snap-on back will fit on it again. I have Juice Defender Ultimate running on it, and the last thing I need now is a kernel.
Now, I'm somebody who hasn't switched around with kernels before, and even after reading the guides on kernels, I still would feel better if I could get opinions from other users regarding them. The guides are useful if only for helping me understand kernel terminology, what kernels are, and what they do, but as to which one is the best, it's not really quite obvious.
So that's why I'm going to ask: I've narrowed my choice down to 2 kernels I'm thinking of trying (I'm afraid of that SBC that supposedly messes up batteries or something): Tiamat and Savaged-Zen with no SBC, but I don't know which one is better for conserving battery since it isn't really that obvious at a glance. Which one is a better choice in your experience for CM7 when it comes to extending battery life as long as possible? In short, yeah, I need help picking since I'm a kernel noob. I would appreciate help or information, thanks in advance.
Truthfully Tiamat and SZ are top notch kernels and will boil down to which one YOUR phone likes. For example, my phone didn't like SZ at all for some reason. Created some real issues.
As far as SBC, there isn't anything to worry about. Tiamat SBC more havs kernel is fantastic and I never had a problem. I was on an AOSP forever until the Synergy RC's came out.
Another thing you might want to look into are the undervolt scripts like ViperMod. I was running the 100mV one with the above and getting ridiculously solid battery life.
I didn't care for JuiceDefender myself, I didn't get anything better with it installed. I also didn't spend the time to tweak it probably how it should have been.

SBC can mess up your battery but I'd guess its a one in three hundred chance. It does give huge battery benefits.
My phone likes savaged zens kernels.
Battery calibration is also very important its a market app. Helps alot
Also. I'd reccomend trying decks 1.2.1 its a perfectly stable 2.3.4 much like cyanogenmod with a few tweaks and mods to optimize it for the evo, also its a bit more of the pure Google experience. The developer is great, and has a 2.3.5 build coming in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the responses.
After thinking about it, I'm thinking of trying Tiamat with SBC at the moment after all. The odds of anything bad happening with SBC seem to be really slim, and even if something bad does happen, I have more than one spare battery to fall back on.
So I'm going to try this one first and use the Battery Calibration app. I'm not sure how much this app will help since I deleted all my battery stats from within CWM after changing batteries yesterday (and to my knowledge, that's all the app really does for you).
Anyway, I'm going to guess I just flash this like any other zip in CWM. Once I finish doing a nand backup, I'll let everyone know how it turned out.

That is all the app does, but it allows you to do it from the os. You can charge your phone to 100% and unplug your phone and calibrate as soon as the green light goes off when you unplug it. So its like perfectly calibrated. I use it every ROM / kernel flash

Well, after using Tiamat for a bit, my battery life appeared insane at first glance, since it took about half an hour to get to 99% battery life.
Then I started using my phone a little with my friend to show him some articles I marked in my RSS reader, and checking my texts/email, and several hours later, I've got about 62% remaining battery after 8 hours on a single charge. Still, I'm not sure if this is really the best I can get.
Also, it probably would have helped to use the calibrator after my battery was full, since I deleted battery stats in CWM only after flashing the kernel.

How do you maintain your battery?

I think this havent been discuss.. my question is: what do you guys do to keep your battery thru the whole day? I have seen people said that they keep their phone alive for at least a 1.5 or 2 days????

No problem for the link. There are many ways to help save battery. I for one turn off GPS, Bluetooth, and mobile data when I'm not using them. I use AOSP Roms mostly because they give me better battery life, I use Incredikernel because it regulates how my battery works more efficiently, and I also have an extended battery. Wiping your battery stats every once in a while can help you prolong your battery life as well.

optimized sense with the stock kernel will warrant some seriously nice battery life. thats how I maintain mine.
Depends on what I do, through a normal day (texting, few short calls, 30 minutes of music streaming, less than 5 minutes of GPS) it'll last ~1.5-2 days with CM7 nightlies and chad's incredikernel - underclocked 128MIN - ~800max
But if I use GPS all day, which I sometimes do- it'll drop 50% after 4-5 hours of use (this means screen-on, GPS running, also uses 3G data for maps) and I'll usually need to plug it in before the day ends.
I have a 1900mAh battery that fits in the stock case, so this isn't what I get on the stock 1300mAh battery.
If you can't last it through the day it usually means that you are a very heavy user (you like browsing the web all the time, streaming music, texting, watching videos) OR you have a setup that likes to eat your battery.
I need two of my 3 batteries to make it through one day. I use juice defender, and when I stream pandora at work I turn it off cause it interferes. I always have a charger handy too

I actually didn't know that the 2150 was smaller than the 3500. That thing is a beast, my friend uses one and his phone is at least twice as thick as mine.
If you are rooted, you can update the radio, I've noticed much better performance out of the updates cause they seem to manage gps and wireless better. The radio update turn off wireless if you are out of range and turn off gps if no app is using it.

yeah but you have to take into account how slim the stock incredible is. Without any case and with only the stock battery it's too thin (for me at least). Hard to hold onto the sides and I accidentally press the volume buttons often. I've also dropped it 3 times with that setup.
With a case it's great and with the 2150 it was great, loved both setups but I'm liking the new style now with the 1900 and case so that's where I'm sticking at.
Does wiping the battery stats help the battery life? Or is it just so the phone better understands how much battery is left?
Stock battery has always worked best for me.. I also have the seido 1750 mah as well as some chinese versions of 1500 mah.. I use them as backups.. I'm currently using miui as my rom and the battery life is great... I usually get about 24hrs before i'm down to 20%. No way I would make the whole day on previous roms..
I take cues from battery university. Basically, don't let the battery go below 20% shallow charge /discharge

why is my battery life so bad

I am running liquid smooth 1.25 right now. That included lean kernal. But my battery life is horrible.
I lose 1-2% a MINUTE running gps navigation. I was on vacation with a friend and we used his razr to navigate around san francisco literally all day and when we got back to the hotel he had over half battery. He is running stock though, should i switch back to stock?
I played gameboid for an hour and lost about 40% battery power.
I have tried hotplugx and interactivex, no help.
Is the battery life for this phone really that bad?
Take note of your screen on time. And have a look at the other 17 threads about battery life. But to answer your question: yes, it is that bad.
I recommend buy the extended battery also running foxhound rom 4.0.3 seems better than liquidsmooth 1.25 also be weary liquidsmooth1.35 my google play wouldnt show all apps available foxhound does not have this flaw mod options clean quick great battery

It's the price you pay for AMOLED screens. Trade it in for a TFT or IPS phone if you want better battery life.
are you running anything else?
are you running anything else in the background? Do you have wifi on? Do you have anything set up for auto updating? Also, were you going in and out of service a lot? I've read many posted about these issues running battery life down. Try checking if your baseband is up to date. I don't know if any of this will help.

3800mah battery cycle?

Hey guys, i got the 3800mah siedio, and its lasting 4hr screen time, but i heard it can take 5-10cycles to get the best usage. I have charged it 5times, but is a cycle like using it all day? I used it only to 50% and then charged it for the last 5days, and still only 4hr screen time. Should i return it and try a hyperion or keep it and keep charging? Is a cycle considered 0-100%? or, not sure what to do. On Bamf JB rom 50Screen, 3g, no wifi, gps, or bt

I have a Hyperion and a qcell 3800. It really depends on the ROM for me... I'm running CM10 nightlies and sometimes I get the same "screen" consumption and my battery is dead in 2-5 hours. When I was on the stock ICS rom it seemed to last a lot longer. Perhaps it is just something that needs to be worked out with these roms?
Could you try running something like go power management to see if it lasts longer?
Just bought a 2000mah Batt OEM
can you post the link for stock ICS rom for galaxy nexus vzw plz
well i got a replacement battery and a nexus replacement, and no improvement. On 3g still only recieving about 4hrs of battery life. I tried stock ics, bamf jb, and liquid smooth ics with franco and trinity kernel, no luck. I am debating of selling the phone, or exchanging the siedio for a hyperion. I really want atleast 5-6 hrs of screen time on it. What is weird is, I was using IM+ and even without it, battery drains the same, but it mostly drains quicker when browsing. I should be able to get 5-6hrs of browsing on 3g i would think. I am wondering if Google is checking for updates, for some reason, it has all my picasa pictures, can i disable all that, so only have gmail? maybe it is download stuff, idk but would stop eventually i would think. Really love the phone, but i got better battery on my 1750mah battery on my droid x, or even on a iphone. BTW, i always keep gps, bt, wifi, and 4g off. and 40% brightness.

[Q] The WORST battery life for 3800 mah battery

i have the extended battery of 3800 mah. but im still having bad battery life. ive tried all the basic things to fix this problem. (sync off, location off, 4g off, etc) i even put on airplane mode but i can only reach up to about 2 hours on screen time. my bro has a note 3 with a 3100mah battery. why can he last the whole day and i cant even last 5 hours on battery? i even tried using titanium backup to remove google now launcher and google search as this also eats up battery. what else options can i use. (i used wakelock detector and app permissions to stop wakes) thanks.

Thanks for the speedy reply! Currently I'm at resurrection remix 5.1.1 (latest) using fancy kernel r50. CPU over clocked at 1.3 (not a big difference) and govoner is ondomandplus. Scheduler is sioplus. And read ahead buffer size 1024. That photo is the amount of time my battery dropped a percent.... Sometimes I catch it slippin. And it drop 2 percent. Then when I lock my screen for about 30minutes it goes up 2%. And yes. I wiped battery stats. But still to no avail. GPU clocked at 512 BTW. I have the multi core power saving on too. Set to 2. I use greenify to sleep apps also. Any ideas?

The thing with extended batteries is very often their actual capacities are far less than what they quoted. I suggest you try getting hold of the official extended battery (I can't remember the actual mAh maybe 2100) as with it my phone could last from 2.5 - 3 hours of on screen time, depending on the ROM and kernel.

Was using CM11 M releases until the theme engine bug introduced in the recent M6 build. So I have been trying out different ROMs and SlimKat has been the most stable. The SlimKat stock kernel is good enough otherwise Fancy Kernel is a stable and better choice.
Here are screenshots of a day of quite heavy usage while connected to the WiFi with the latest stable SlimKat Build 5 with its own kernel, using the Galaxy Nexus official extended battery that is 2000mAh. 2 hours 45 mins with 30% left to go.
By the way I rebooted the phone twice to change the LCD density as shown in the graph.
I manage to get 3 hr sot and 1 day uptime with vanir and its stock kernel. Maybe the gpu @512 mhz and the "power hungry" io scheduler are killing it. Try some tweaking. A diffrent governor and tunables. Try Nephilims settings.

Wow I don't think it's very legit. It could be just above 2000mAh in real life and then couldn't hold as much charge after a while that's why the battery drained so fast. Not to mention the risks of using dodgy batteries [emoji46]
I think I bought mine from a Korean eBay seller for at least $30 or more. The battery is also NFC-enabled and comes with a back that added a bit of thickness so most gel cases could fit.
---------- Post added at 01:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:49 AM ----------
One other thing to note is that even with genuine batteries they will start to lose charge or can't hold charge like it used to after 2-3 years. That's why I think phones with removable batteries are better especially if you plan to use them for up to 5 years. You can just get a new battery after 2-3 years
