I hope that this post is in the correct forum section - apologies if not and apologies if there is already a thread on this subject (I did try searching but nothing that provided a link to a RUU).
Here's what I've done:
Flashed a custom ROM to my UK O2 HTC One X
Then tried to restore it to stock without taking a Clockwork recovery backup (deleted all caches and storage in the process)
Tried to flash with stock RUU found online (1.26.206.2) but RUU software throws an error as the exisiting f/w is 1.29.206.11 and this is what it is expecting
I can access the HOX through fastboot to lock and unlock the device but I cannot see the "SD card" to copy over a custom ROM to at least get some life into the thing (it just sits at the white HTC loading screen until the battery dies).
Ideally I want to return the thing to stock (if anyone has a O2 UK 1.29.206.11 RUU) but failing that is there anyway to get a custom ROM on there (for installation with CWM) without my PC (Windows 7 or Mac available) seeing the HOX storage?
Thanks for reading and any help you can pass on.

if you can get into to CWM there is an option to mount sd in there somewhere, if you can't get into it maybe try re-flashing it

DO you mean extracting the 2 img files from the RUU zip and running from fastboot command prompt? If so, the second img file returns a [0000006] error.

Ok this is bad this RUU is not full must be 500-600 Mb= Surch from google to download the RUU 2.17.206.2 for HTC one X and install this in Android RUU files store is not the full. The case is you have 1.29.206.11 witch is newer vrom 1.26.206.2 and if you try to install it you will receive error wrong RUU.
EDIT: I think you will not find this RUU surch here in xda for nandroid backup for 1.29.206.11 and restor it and dont forget to restor the stock recovery too.

I've got the RUU you suggested from HERE
Now to apply this RUU all I need to do is run the file (exe) and follow the bouncing ball?
Then once flashed (back to stock), to install a custom recovery (so I can do a nandroid) is unlock the bootloader, install the recovery, and take the nandroid backup. To get the OTA Update(s), I'll need to relock the bootloader, do the automated system updater, redo nandroid, then onto a custom recovery once HBOOT has been updated via the OTA process?
EDIT: Take a nandroid backup first of course

NO You can't receive the OTA via custom recovery you need ctock recovery and stock rom unrooted
1) Lock your bootloader
2) Run the RUU
3) Apllay all update to 4.x.206.x 4.2.2 JB
4) Unlock your Bootloader
5) Install Philz custom recovery
6) Do a Nandroid Backup on 4.2.2.JB . Save on secure plase it is better to have 2 copies on nandroid on different place
7) If you wont Install custom rom or root the stock it is your decision and don't forget to flash the boot.img if you install custom rom

You're S-On, bootloader locked, and rooted? Unlock your bootloader and fastboot flash a recovery. Root alone won't let you flash ROMs.

Google for clockworkmod. It should be the top result. Find the one for DHD. My finding it for you will take as much effort as your finding it yourself. This is a forum where you are expected to search and read for yourself; no one will hold your hand.
hi bananagranola ive done all that when i install roms it just keeps going back to htc white logo screen i installed this recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-ace-modaco-r2.img and then a rom
If you are not S-Off you need to fastboot flash the ROM zip's boot.img.

thank you mate you are diamond
If it helps boot into hboot then fastboot
Make sure you have the drivers installed
Connect phone and make sure it says fastboot usb
from the directory that contains adb, fastboot etc copy the recovery.img to it and run a cmd prompt
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
Reboot phone into recovery and you should have cwm or 4ext whatever recovery.img you used.
If you are s-on and want to use custom roms you'll have to unlock boot with htdev and manually fastboot flash the roms boot.img after installing the rom with the recovery you're using.

next flash the boot.img from the rom zip via fastboot. and then do "fastboot erase cache".

Hey there,
Lately i have been trying to flash a Cyanogenmod 11.1 (unofficial rom), but as you read this on XDA you already now it failed.
I have an HTC Desire HD, and have CWM installed, But am not rooted since it was unrooted when CWM was installed. When i tried to flash the rom i first did the usual stuff (wiping data, dalvik and battery stats). and after that i tried to flash it, but the installation aborted because of error 1(not sure if it was 1 or 7).
From that point i cant do anything with my phone except going into the HBoot menu, and going into recovery.
When i just power up the phone i shows the HTC booting logo, and after that it automatically goes to CWM.
In the Hboot menu it shows me:
**** UNLOCKED ****
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0029
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.14.52.27
eMMC-boot
Dec 22 2011, 14:28:19
And i can select Fastboot, recovery, factory reset, simlock or image crc.
I tried flashing some other roms, but all of them failed. I also tried a few different RUU's but these also failed..
Hope someone can help

Thank you very very much. it's starting the boot from the jelly rom!
Your best bet is to flash an old recovery..cwm 2.3- then flash cm 7. Getting to cm 7 can help pc see the phone

gapps?
can i just flash gapps over all the other installations
Fastboot Flash

Hey there,
Lately i have been trying to flash a Cyanogenmod 11.1 (unofficial rom), but as you read this on XDA you already now it failed.

If you are still having this problem, i recommend installing a rom from cwm and then (since you're s-on) going to your computer, opening the rom zip, taking out the boot .img, then going into bootloader on your phone going down to fastboot then plug it in to your computer and fastboot flash the boot.img. fastboot tutorials are all over youtube.

I write here because i can't write to he's thread.
I installed the 6.0 rom for my HTC One M8 from graffixnyc, but has not sound and it write's driver error, unknown problem. What's the problem?
I have S-on, custom recovery (twrp) and unlock bootloader. Plus the Hboot write's wrong image error.
I can't convert the cid to GOOGL_001, i have T-MOB101. That's the problem?
Thanks for the help!
Sorry for my bad English, I'm Hungarian!
Old firmware probably, you likely need to go back to stock and wait for all ota updates . BTW, this should be in q and a not general

I can't back to stock because, not have original rom, firmware and ruu for this M8. It's a DE phone supposedly, but i can use it from Hungary with my Hungary sim card.
I wanna try to upgrade once and the phone bricked and i install twrp and a stock rooted rom from android revolution hd.
You'll probably run into problems if your firmware is out of date. S off may get you out of a hole

By DE you mean Developer's Edition? But your top post says T-MOB101.
If you don't know what your version is, you'll never get an RUU to work.
You can restore to stock nandroid from the collection posted on these threads, but again you need to know your correct CID version.
Do fastboot getvar all, and post the output (be sure to delete IMEI and serial numbers, as these are personal info) and we may be able to determine your actual CID version.

Thanks! I thought that might be the case, but it was ambiguous. That's why its best for folks to be specific and detailed when asking for help!
To OP, still need getvar output to properly identify the right stock nandroid.

Agreed ... a typo is corrected - should read T-MOB101

I clearly posted previously (Post #5 above) to delete your IMEI and serial numbers from getvar output. These are personal data what should never be posted online. Please delete these numbers for your own protection.

The above info indicates that firmware shouldn't be an issue.
Did you do a full wipe (data, cache, Dalvik) when installing the GPE ROM?

It sounds like you are trying to do 2 different things:
- Flash the ROM zip in TWRP
- Flash the RUU (s-off required)
Which is it? You need to make up your mind, and understand the difference between the 2.

I make a full wipe before install the rom ( i make a full wipe before install any rom ). I installed the rom, make the setup steps ( login, etc ) and I can't hear any sound. I make a reboot and I looked the driver error.

Did you read the ROM thread to see if others had this issue?

"Wrong image" means you are trying to run an RUU that doesn't match your CID. You need s-off to change CID.

Try downloading the ROM zip to eliminate the possibility that it was corrupted during download.
Did you cancel the option in TWRP to root the ROM, as directed in the ROM thread?

Which is expected, and clearly indicated in the ROM instructions.
But it sounds like at least on the latest flash attempts, you properly cancelled the root option.
I don't seen much reason for the bugs you are experiencing. Did you try to download the ROM again as previously suggested?

I downloaded two times. Once my computer and second time to my girlfriend laptop ( that was three days ago ) and doesn't work, the zip was not corrupted.
