You're S-On, bootloader locked, and rooted? Unlock your bootloader and fastboot flash a recovery. Root alone won't let you flash ROMs.

Google for clockworkmod. It should be the top result. Find the one for DHD. My finding it for you will take as much effort as your finding it yourself. This is a forum where you are expected to search and read for yourself; no one will hold your hand.
hi bananagranola ive done all that when i install roms it just keeps going back to htc white logo screen i installed this recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-ace-modaco-r2.img and then a rom
If you are not S-Off you need to fastboot flash the ROM zip's boot.img.

thank you mate you are diamond
If it helps boot into hboot then fastboot
Make sure you have the drivers installed
Connect phone and make sure it says fastboot usb
from the directory that contains adb, fastboot etc copy the recovery.img to it and run a cmd prompt
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
Reboot phone into recovery and you should have cwm or 4ext whatever recovery.img you used.
If you are s-on and want to use custom roms you'll have to unlock boot with htdev and manually fastboot flash the roms boot.img after installing the rom with the recovery you're using.

My friend has just unlocked his bootloader using HTC Dev, this has left it S-ON, so he installed cwm, made a nandroid, then began flashing rom's, he flashed the boot.img separate via fastboot due to the s-on, yet aosp rom's just get stuck on the boot animation, and any sense rom, (including the backup) just boot straight to recovery :/ He's asked me for help but I'm at a loss to explain this :S
we have tried reflashing an RUU but it just complained about it being the wrong version even though there is no other version it could be
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Relock the bootloader, then root using the ace advanced kit. You will may find a link to it in xda or if you search for glevitan. The hack kit was removed from xda.

you have to flash the boot.img in fastboot commands if you have unlocked the bootloader with HTCDEV. Do that, and the you will have a working phone.
HTCDEV is useless, I would suggest that u relock the bootloader and then use the Hack Kit....:good:

We cannot get the phone to boot into a rom, therefore the hack kit is useless, it requires the phone to boot, and we've relocked and everything, it just refuses to boot any roms (yes we have been flashing the boot.img's via fastboot

His advice was to use the hack kit, which we cannot do without a booting OS, which we currently do not have, which is the reason I posted here.

From what I've gathered, he's in a bootloop, unlocked with HTCDEV and has tried to flash the backed up boot.img via fastboot.
In this specific situation how is the hack kit any use to him if he can't get past the splash screen?
Perhaps double check the locations and files you're pushing/flashing and "fastboot erase cache" before and after.
I'm sure you've probably tried this already but it's the only other things I can think of causing the loop.

Ok, in order to flash a RUU you will have to relock your bootloader. The main version error is due to the unlocked bootloader.
If you still have CWM, before relocking the bootloader u can try to flash a custom rom and then flash the boot.img in fastboot (but doing a wipe first) If that is not working, then you gotta flash a RUU but wil only work if you relock the bootloader....:good:

I hope that this post is in the correct forum section - apologies if not and apologies if there is already a thread on this subject (I did try searching but nothing that provided a link to a RUU).
Here's what I've done:
Flashed a custom ROM to my UK O2 HTC One X
Then tried to restore it to stock without taking a Clockwork recovery backup (deleted all caches and storage in the process)
Tried to flash with stock RUU found online (1.26.206.2) but RUU software throws an error as the exisiting f/w is 1.29.206.11 and this is what it is expecting
I can access the HOX through fastboot to lock and unlock the device but I cannot see the "SD card" to copy over a custom ROM to at least get some life into the thing (it just sits at the white HTC loading screen until the battery dies).
Ideally I want to return the thing to stock (if anyone has a O2 UK 1.29.206.11 RUU) but failing that is there anyway to get a custom ROM on there (for installation with CWM) without my PC (Windows 7 or Mac available) seeing the HOX storage?
Thanks for reading and any help you can pass on.

DO you mean extracting the 2 img files from the RUU zip and running from fastboot command prompt? If so, the second img file returns a [0000006] error.

Ok this is bad this RUU is not full must be 500-600 Mb= Surch from google to download the RUU 2.17.206.2 for HTC one X and install this in Android RUU files store is not the full. The case is you have 1.29.206.11 witch is newer vrom 1.26.206.2 and if you try to install it you will receive error wrong RUU.
EDIT: I think you will not find this RUU surch here in xda for nandroid backup for 1.29.206.11 and restor it and dont forget to restor the stock recovery too.

I've got the RUU you suggested from HERE
Now to apply this RUU all I need to do is run the file (exe) and follow the bouncing ball?
Then once flashed (back to stock), to install a custom recovery (so I can do a nandroid) is unlock the bootloader, install the recovery, and take the nandroid backup. To get the OTA Update(s), I'll need to relock the bootloader, do the automated system updater, redo nandroid, then onto a custom recovery once HBOOT has been updated via the OTA process?
EDIT: Take a nandroid backup first of course

NO You can't receive the OTA via custom recovery you need ctock recovery and stock rom unrooted
1) Lock your bootloader
2) Run the RUU
3) Apllay all update to 4.x.206.x 4.2.2 JB
4) Unlock your Bootloader
5) Install Philz custom recovery
6) Do a Nandroid Backup on 4.2.2.JB . Save on secure plase it is better to have 2 copies on nandroid on different place
7) If you wont Install custom rom or root the stock it is your decision and don't forget to flash the boot.img if you install custom rom

Alright so thus far i have
unlocked
rooted
installed twrp and then cwm recovery because i the tutorial called for twrp and i wanted to install with cwm
then here is where i had issues, i installed an Endeavor rom on my Evita device, it was an honest mistake
because its my friends phone and i did not know enough about it.
Now where i am at is i have tried different roms to try to fix it
then factory reset
the device has no rom from my understanding, gets stuck on boot but i can get into fastboot and adb push
files to the device with no real issue.

I guess you had re-locked back the device?
You need unlock it yet again to flash custom things.
Curiousity drove me for the question, how you enede up with correct recovery and wrong custom ROM. Don't mess up evita and edeavoru again, it is dangerous.. Remember go back to X+ forum.

Hello everybody,
I tried to install jellytime on my Desire HD, so i used Easy Ace Root Tool.
I used fastboot command to flash the boot.img to the phone and since then, the only menu available is the one of the bootloader.
As far as i tried the ruu packages fail to restore things.
Is there a way (preferably a guide) to return my phone to stock ?
Loading to fastboot now shows:

RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed.exe
And try to run it with phone in fastboot.
If that doesn't work try with some RUU that has 3.13.xxx.x main version (i.e. RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.13.707.4_R_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_234022_signed.exe)
both result in error...
The second says ID error

I found the rom.zip from the second file, renamed it to PD98IMG.zip and inserted it to my sd, but it say CID error.
I saw that everyone says about a goldcard but i don't seem to get it. The goldcard generator i downloaded say they could not locate the CID. Can i download a CID image?
Where should i put it, if i find one?
Thanks!

Try the AAHK2 Script. Make sure you follow all the instructions before using the script.. It will automatically do things for you and just follow the on screen instructions... At the end you will have your Stock Rom perfectly running... :good:
Delete your imei #
Get nloooo to delete it from the quote as well.

Do not use the AAHK2 if you are trying to return to stock for warranty purposes, thou I highly doubt that you still have warranty on this device .
In order to bypass the CID error you need to use a goldcard. Otherwise, you will need the exact ruu for your device.

After trying the 4.3 beta versions, i tried again to install the original firmware.
As before, the ruu setup did not work. It should, since my cid is HTC__001, and i was trying with every WWE version available.
Anyway, during setup, i found in the temp folder the rom.zip, and within it the necessary boot.img, system.img and recovery.img.
I flashed them through cmd using fastboot.
Everything worked out, now i am back to stock, but i guess that my phone is something like Frankenstein, using the radio and libraries from the last jellytime image i installed...
It works, but i don't recommend it. I think that i finally got lucky, and didn't brick my Desire HD.
Thanks for all your help and interest.

i think you misunderstood him mate, he flashrd only specific img files from ruu not the whole thing. in this case, radio doesnt get flashed, but that shouldnt be to big of a problem.
to op: custom roms dont contain radios. so radio that is on your device is the same as before you flashed jellytime

Well, RILs are not compatible then, and many AOSP partitions can not work fine with Sense Roms. If he did that then his cell might explode....
forgot about rils and didnt know about partitions.
but expoding cells are not to be taken lightly, especially when put in trouser pocket
I have an HTC Desire HD.
I unlocked it
s-off
rooted
flashed with cwm recovery
installed from ZIP file on SDCARD
rebooted
stuck on HTC logo regardless of what I attempt.
I have no idea where to go from here.
Any ideas?
Thanks
did you made full wipe?
What ROM?....which version of cwm? These are important factors
ClockworkMod Recovery v 5.8.1.5
I have tried different ROMs, all end up with the same scenario
cm-10.1-20130301-unofficial -ace
cm-JellyTime_R17.zip
I hope this answer helps you help me
Can you access boot loader? If so , go to it and post results of "fastboot getvar all". Maybe running an ruu will get u back on track.
Yest, bootloader is accessible and I attempted an RUU and ended up with the same result.
I will post the results of getvar all when I get home, stuck in traffic now
Thanks

Is this were it stops?
No one has any idea to what it could be, no need for an absolute solution, a mere possible or a reflection as to what I could have done wrong would be appreciated.
LOL
What can i say to you?
As you stated on very first post of yours where you mentioned that your device is S-OFF? then why "INFOsecurity: on" ??
Simply flash any custom rom then extract boot.img from that custom rom .zip file and flash it through fastboot using command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Afterwards it should boot normally. Recovery has no issue nor given rom as you've mentioned on your post. Just requires boot.img to be flashed as your device is S-ON! not S-OFF.
I read a little sarcasm in that LOL
Thanks for the valuable info, I will attempt that as soon as I get home.
I will give feedback as to how successful my attempt has been.
I have attempted the proposed solution and I got the following error:
failed (remote: signature verify fail)
I read that could have to do with the fact that my bootloader is locked again. I did run a while back fastbood oem lock.
oem unlock returns an error.
So I attempted with the htcdev unlock code.bin again and unlocked it.
I ran the boot.img as instructed again and this time it was a success although it gave me a scare with the 4 reboots it performed
Thanks for the help, the tip from dr.patron99 was very helpful.
