[Q] No proper sound after headphone disconect - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi,
after Im using the headphones on the Nexus (they works great)
when i disconnect them, the phone still thinks that they are connected!
I found a group that talks about it on google's goups, but the only offer there is a fix app from the Play store that disables the Service of the headphones
When i use an air-spray on the headphone's Jack its returns to the normal state (no headphone connected state)

Had the same problem while the app will fix the problem it still is a hardware issue and can be fixed. I have the sprint version and they replaced with no problem.

The only problem is that the international warranty don't apply here and I'm not willing to send it to hongkong where i bought it.
Looking for other sulotions. Thanks

You can try putting your headphones in and out really fast to see if that will fix it. I used the app till I received my replacement

Another unsatisfied VZW user. You guys have it rough.
Four times? You must break the spell!
If I were you I'd buy the next one thru authorized Verizon's Witch Doctor.
I've been offered the razr Maxx or whatever the highest gig iPhone is from Verizon to fix my issues. I'm very satisfied. I love my gnex I've just had so many issues I was curious if its my magically horrible luck or what.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I just got this gnex this weekend and have not had any problems. I upgraded from a Bionic. I'm just going through these forums to see what kind of problems to lookout for. I hope your luck gets better.

Thanks man. I'm glad to see the charging issue doesn't seem widespread.

I'm on my 3rd Nexus as well. First one the DAC half burnt out so I wasn't getting any audio through the earpiece and mic stopped working. Second one had faulty charging. Would charge it full and after in plugging it would still think it was charging and the phone would wake the screen by itself every so often causing huge battery drain.
The one I have now has a small problem but its tolerable. The speaker doesn't turn off immediately. There about a second or two of air and then when it does turn off it make a small pop sound.

My VZW Gnex has been fine. Every so often mine will drop a data connection, but so does every other LTE device. It's by no means wide spread.
I've been very pleased with mine so far. I'm glad to hear that Verizon is doing a good job of giving replacements to people with issues.
I have had charging issues where it thinks it is connected to charger, and keeped turning on the screen when idle. I also have problem with my headphone plug, where it sometimes thinks I have connected headphones which leads to no sound in the earspeaker and microphone turned off.
In addition I now have problems with sound only coming from one of the headphones when connected.
All this on the same phone, never returned it. Samsung QA really sucks...
Yea my charging issue is its just not charging 100% of the time. I have to do the BS bending the cord to the perfect spot

Guess I've been lucky.
I'm thinking pure coincidence unless VZW phones are made with different hardware and by someone else.
No hardware problems for me.

Clearly hardware issue if you've tried multiple SIMs.
Mine doesn't work. I was playing about 2 hours, locked it, went to see a friend, and when I took the mobile again, it was on "Google" logo, and never again passed from there. No Roms, no root, now I'm waiting Vodafone brings me a new one (Only 1 week old)
Well so much for great customer support. I called to get the phone sent and then they told me I could choose to receive a brand new phone in store. One guy flat out lied to me and told me that no stores within 50 miles had the phone then they had me on the phone for six hours before someone says we can only send a refurb so take it or dont. Horrible service yesterday so beyond less than pleased.

HTC One X wifi hotspot problem.

Ok guys, here's a strange one for you. I have no problem connecting my phone via wifi to a router, it stays connected and doesn't lose signal strength like many people have been having problems with. However, when I turn the wifi hotspot feature on, on my One X, the other device can connect to it and use it no problem but the issue I have is that the phone keeps randomly turning the wifi hotspot completely off and I have to keep turning it back on again, this keeps randomly happening, bit of a nuisance when you're using it to connect your Xbox 360 to Xbox Live lol. Could anyone help me out with this please? Thanks for any info guys.

I had this issue until I restarted my phone. After that it was working properly.
But you probably tried that?

I know this thread is a little old but I've experienced this problem too.
My first question would be is there a case on your phone? If so, what type is it? What brand? Is it thick? Tight?
I own the nilkin case the white thick one and it's also a little tight.
When I noticed that my bluetooth headset got crappy connection after the case I removed it but i found that my phone has one of those so called antenna defects (if you obstruct the top part of the phone with your hand either from the front or the back the connection would fail. At first I had the phone sent to the store. They claim they fixed the firmware for the issue. Sure enough the bluetooth and the antenna seemed fixed but the hotspot still kept acting up.
Finally, I removed the case and to my surprise the hotspot stopped getting deactivated by itself. This model is known for its poor contact with its antennas (like the asus transformer, i've been told) but affects a limited number of owners.
Let me know if this simple fix worked for you guys.

Audio Issue

So, due to some screw ups on AT&T's part, I managed to upgrade to an S3 from a Skyrocket for free... and I love it. However, I seem to have an issue and I am not sure if I need to return the phone or not.
Whenever I play music I have copied from my PC to the SDCard, I hear clicks and pops constantly. Too narrow down what the issue might be I have done the following:
- Played the music through the speaker, clicks and pops present.
- Played the music over bluetooth pairing to my car stereo, clicks and pops present.
- Played the music over an audio cable plugged into AUX input on my car stereo, clicks and pops present.
- Played the music through the included eaarbuds, clicks and pops present, BUT only in the left earbud.
- Played the music with google play app, and the included music player, clicks and pops present.
The music doesn't have this issue on my PC, and the music is stored on the same external SDCard that was in my Skyrocket. The Skyrocket had no issues at all. Obviously the problem isn't with the headphone jack, since it happens over bluetooth as well. Also, It seems odd to me that it would be only the left earbud.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Anyone have any suggestions/ideas?
Thanks for any help in advance!
Sounds like a hardware malfunction. I'd take it to a local COR store and exchange it, shouldn't be an issue

+1, but you might want to try a factory reset just for kicks and may be reflash stock firmware? maybe OTA updates?
Also [FIX] Pops and crackles in headphone output.
There is an ota out for a sound fix but I didn't have that issue with mine before hand. To be safe, switch it out.

I would go exchange it personally. If you just got it, it won't be a problem. Which color did you choose?

I went with the white. I like it a little better than the blue (no idea why) and the red wasn't available yet.
Exchanging will be a little more of a hassle than just going to a store since I got it shipped to me and dealt exclusively with them over the phone. I think (I could be wrong) that means I will have to do the exchange process over the phone as well.
Thanks everyone for the responses so far, really appreciate the input.
Ok, another test.
I downloaded intune and tried out a few music stations, no clicks and pops at all...
Maybe I should reformat my SDCard and try starting from scratch.

It would be a bit of a hassle, but luckily they send the phone first then when you have your new one you can send the old one back, makes it bearable!

If it was purchased from AT&T directly you can exchange at a corporate store with no problems at all. Saves the hassle of shipping and no restocking fee since it's defective.

Yep. Stopped at the store today, no worries if I need to trade it in. However, I want to try a new SDCard first. I formated the old one last night and copied music back onto it. It had the same problem, BUT different songs had the clicks and pops. That sounds an awful lot like an SDCard going bad to me. I picked up a new one and I am copying music onto it now. We shall see what happens.
Any luck with new SDcard?
I've had same issue with mine from Telus since the day I got it. Playing music from Play Music and samsung player both clicked and popped, but youtube was fine.
I tried a "soft boot" (power off, battery out) as Samsung suggested then a factory reset and the problem is still there.
It seems like a software issue, but if others haven't had the problem with same software, could a batch have slightly different hardware that is conflicting?
I also have this problem. Unfortunately, I got my phone off Craigslist. However, in my case, Poweramp does not show any of these problems through the headphones or the speaker. I'm not sure why this is but they have a trial if you want to try it out.

I tried that as well and it was still there. The only place I didn't hear it was Youtube.
After doing a soft reset followed by a hard reset as suggested from Samsung. I got fed up and returned it to Futureshop for another one that I tested first to see that it didn't have this issue.
Must be a bad batch of them.
Similar issues here. Charging and using Aux causing a whining, popping, and cracking noise. When you unplug the charger the noise goes away.
Hope they sort this out soon. Really don't wanna have to exchange if I don't have to.
Never had this issue on either of my past iPhones.
Did you reformat the SD card when you moved it from the Skyrocket to the GS3. This can sometimes cause issues.

[NOT solved] Aokp JB thinks is charging, but it's NOT

My phone (GSM galaxy nexus on aokp JB build 1) was fine till I got a message from GOOGLE MANAGER that I got an update (aokp JB build 22).
I updated and got a Phantom charging problem.
Fix #1: tried fixing permissions (rom manager and CWM)
Fix#2
Wiped thru CWM, and reinstalled the rom and gapps (07/26)
Fix#3:
Tried other gapps (inverted)
No help at all. Can anyone please help. The phone keeps on thinking it's being charged (and waking for no reason). Battery life has gone down the drain.
PS, I had issues with Google home, and the camera before. They are fixed now
EDIT: the problem was not caused by dirt in the port. It now chosen to refuse charging, sometimes. I think the port has shorted

Clean charging port.
Thanks for answering my question. I've cleaned the hell out of the port, and it's kinda odd seeing as this started with installing the rom (without connecting the phone)

Well the problem is in the charging port and not in the rom...I can assure you of that much.
It's hardware related.
Install something else if you're doubtful.
Thanks for the assurance.
I'm open to all ideas, whether on how to clean the port, or another course of action

Had the same problem and samsung service replaced the charging port.
So clean it. If it doesnt help - bring it to your warranty service.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I truly thank you guys for your replies. The charge port seemed clean, and the issue only started after a rom install, but in the end, IT WAS FROM A DIRTY PORT
I got a needle (don't know what size, but it was 3/10 ml) And cleaned my "clean" port. That fixed it.

Its a pretty-known problem. The USB port got broken. So, here is the only one solution: nearest service center. Its a hardware problem. If you still not sure about it - try to reflash to another custom and check. I'm 100% sure, the problem will exists.
Not the hardware

Just installed aokp for the first time and ran into this issue. I noticed it when I inserted my phone into my desktop dock with the pogo pins so I know with100% certainty, its not the usb port. Happens when I plug it into the usb port also so my guess is it is the rom because it was working fine with the vicious jelly bean rom. Just my input.
You got it right. It got fixed with an update in AOKP

HTC one x headphone jack issue

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on an issue with the headphone jack I've started having. The HTC headphones supplied have stopped being recognised. They work in other devices just not in the HTC one x. Now if plug a different type of headphones into the phone they work and are recognised. This problem only started about a month ago before that everything was ok. I'm guessing its a fault with the phone but just wondering if anyone else has this issue.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I'm having the same issue albeit a little differently. My personal earbuds get unrecognized frequently after plugging for a little while. It happens even if I leave the jack stationary and not touching the phone at all and after 2-3 songs it will stop recognizing my earbuds.
Tried on 2 earbuds same result. Wanted to send in for repairs but have no idea what to tell HTC. Cos it happens randomly.

I had this problem mine used to disconnect and connect randomly i used a app called Sound About by David Woods from market the override the detection of headphones and this worked great. In the end my phone had signal problems so was replaced. Give it ago if you dont want to send phone off.
Thanks a lot for your help. The app seems work.

I had the same issue a few months ago.
After some time i did send it in (htc picked it up thenext day) and they replaced the headset connector.
Since then no problems anymore.
You can also go to Htc certified repair center for this replacement.
