[NOT solved] Aokp JB thinks is charging, but it's NOT - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

My phone (GSM galaxy nexus on aokp JB build 1) was fine till I got a message from GOOGLE MANAGER that I got an update (aokp JB build 22).
I updated and got a Phantom charging problem.
Fix #1: tried fixing permissions (rom manager and CWM)
Fix#2
Wiped thru CWM, and reinstalled the rom and gapps (07/26)
Fix#3:
Tried other gapps (inverted)
No help at all. Can anyone please help. The phone keeps on thinking it's being charged (and waking for no reason). Battery life has gone down the drain.
PS, I had issues with Google home, and the camera before. They are fixed now
EDIT: the problem was not caused by dirt in the port. It now chosen to refuse charging, sometimes. I think the port has shorted

Clean charging port.

Thanks for answering my question. I've cleaned the hell out of the port, and it's kinda odd seeing as this started with installing the rom (without connecting the phone)

Well the problem is in the charging port and not in the rom...I can assure you of that much.
It's hardware related.
Install something else if you're doubtful.

Thanks for the assurance.
I'm open to all ideas, whether on how to clean the port, or another course of action

Had the same problem and samsung service replaced the charging port.
So clean it. If it doesnt help - bring it to your warranty service.

I truly thank you guys for your replies. The charge port seemed clean, and the issue only started after a rom install, but in the end, IT WAS FROM A DIRTY PORT
I got a needle (don't know what size, but it was 3/10 ml) And cleaned my "clean" port. That fixed it.

Nope
It still suffers from the problem, now it sometimes refuses to charge

Just get a external battery charger and extra charger and Ignore the notification, or get a new one by complaining to some company lol

Its a pretty-known problem. The USB port got broken. So, here is the only one solution: nearest service center. Its a hardware problem. If you still not sure about it - try to reflash to another custom and check. I'm 100% sure, the problem will exists.

Not the hardware

Just installed aokp for the first time and ran into this issue. I noticed it when I inserted my phone into my desktop dock with the pogo pins so I know with100% certainty, its not the usb port. Happens when I plug it into the usb port also so my guess is it is the rom because it was working fine with the vicious jelly bean rom. Just my input.

You got it right. It got fixed with an update in AOKP

GSM GN 4.1 jelly bean "Not Charging"

I have had my galaxy nexus for about 5 months now and today while trying to charge my phone i noticed that it was not charging while being plugged in. Now i did notice that when i powered it off it was charging showing the battery icon with the bolt. Tried factory reset but didnt work, tried changing the battery and that didnt work, and tried the stock cable with the wall adapter that was in the box because its the international version. I have no custom rom just the stock with root access. No clue what to do, anyone out there have this problem on jelly bean?
Encountered this problem on JB too. Factory reset, unroot and back to stock 4.0.4 didn't work. My GN is now with Samsung and their fixing my USB port. Try to have it checked with your carrier.

I don't think it has anything to do with my carrier. Sounds like a driver issue but don't know how to approach it

Problem with charging or hardware. Help?

Hi,
I don't actually know if this is ROM related or kernel related or something just wrong with my phone. My phone keeps 'randomly charging' even when the charger isn't plugged in. The status bar icon changes to the lightning one and it says it's charging on the lock screen.
Sometimes the charger doesn't seem to charge the phone till I reboot (It works perfectly with my Nexus 7 and Tab 2).
I'm running the latest CM10 20120930 with Franco kernel (only because I had the problem with the stock kernel and wanted to try another). And yes, I did wipe everything before updating.
If anyone can help, please do. It's really annoying since the screen turns on every time the phone decides to 'wirelessly charge' and runs down my battery.
Thanks for any advice, tips, etc.

There are a lot of topics about this. It's a hardware problem.
I have the same problem, so I bought this USB port replacement http://www.ebay.com/itm/310412314270 and I'm waiting it to arrive so I can change mine... If it works, I'll post it in the General section of this forum.
If your phone is still under warranty, use it, and don't let samsung tell you that is not a manufacturing problem, because it is, there are thousands of people whit the same problem.
Sorry for my bad english.
I've been using the phone since January so I doubt they're gonna listen. Anyways if you're gonna replace the whole port could you make a how-to so anybody who has the same problem could fix it themselves?

as soon as I replace the port, if it works, I'll post a video and some explanation on how to do it.
Had this problem , sent it back to Samsung and they replaced it and sent it back with a broken screen. Poor customer service but they fixed. As people have stated its the USB port , replace it or send it back under warranty

[Q] Dafuq's going on with my battery?

Hey Guys, i got my Nexus here in my hand. I love that phone but mine has a really annoying "bug": If i charge it, it charges normally, everythings fine. But if i unplug it, it says for about 5 minutes that its charging. Okay then, but later, the charging symbol starts to "flash". So it lights up the locked screen and sucks my battery down. I had that issue with all ROMs i ever had on my phone. (Srock 4.0.4, Stock 4.1.2, Parandroid, MIUI, CM10.1).
So im out of ideas. Can someone help pls?
Greets!
BTW, excuse me for my bad english please ;P
Was this issue happening since the time you bought your phone or only recently? Which kernel are you running?
If this is an issue with all Roms I'd pop in a buddies battery if available. If you don't see the problem go away it's got to be a hardware problem = insurance claim if you've got insurance...

[Q] USB Problem

Hello Everyone, I'm using Galaxy Nexus GSM Version and I was using Purity Rom for a while, yesterday everything was working fine but today there occurred a problem.
1. I Can't connect my phone to my PC via usb.
It just charges it and Windows (windows xp) says it can't recognize the device. Then the screen starts flickering when i connect it.
I tried many different ports and wires, nothing happened.
2. While using my charger, it charges my phone only when its switched off, doesn't charge when the phone is booted up.
This whole problem occurred twice many many weeks ago and got solved automatically, this time its not helping.
So I wanted to ask you experts what to do? This time it's taking too long, i flashed AK Kernel too, flashed PA (these things were luckily there in my sd card)
I can't use net too due some network failure here, please help me.
Thanks a lot in Advance.

but i will try this, actually I've reinstalled the drivers and all such stuffs, still no progress, so its just a dust issue right?

it might be dust or not.
if not, Look inside the USB port and you will see a "tab" there. Lever this up gently (after removing the battery) towards the centre of the port.
P.S. read this thread

WHOA!
I did that and it worked! I gently scrated the pins of the battery and the corners of the usb pins. Currently its showing connection icons but can't access the files via PC, but still, its charging from every port plus my charger is working!

[Q] M919 Only Sync's To PC, But Doesn't Charge???

Hey guys,
Looks like I have a very unique problem here with my Galaxy S4, M919. I've had the phone for about 2 months and it's worked flawlessly until yesterday. It just randomly stopped charging!
I've replaced the charging port already and also re-flashed ROM (aokp_jfltetmo_kitkat_nightly_2014-03-27).
I am unable to charge the phone, however it syncs perfectly with my PC. I've searched all day yesterday and all morning today for anyone with a similar problem but have yet to find anything.
You guys are my best and only hope now.
Please..anyone. I really need your help! I can't afford to purchase a new device.
If you require more information, let me know.
Thanks in advance for your time and help!
EDIT
I just ordered a Qi Wireless Charger from eBay. I'm hoping it'll allow me to charge the phone since it completely bypassed the charging port and is located on the mobo itself. Will update once it arrives and I test it out.
Still looking for answers to this problem though. So if anyone has any thoughts on what may have happened (and its solution), it would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT 2
Just received the Qi Wireless Charger.. It does not work either =(
I will be flashing back to stock again and try to charge the phone while it is off. This is the last thing I can try now. If it still doesn't work, I will be parting out my phone.
LCD $180
MoBo $120
Remaining parts can be discussed
Just message if interested!

Have you attempted to flash another ROM and see if the problem persists? Another kernel? I suggest trying another kernel first, then another ROM. Also, I have to ask just to cover all bases, have you tried multiple ports on your PC? The device won't charge at all or just while connected to PC?

Hey. Thanks for the reply.
I've already tried flashing a new kernel as well as ROM. I've tried all 4 ports on my PC. I forgot to mention that it also does not charge through any wall adapters. Any charging method that involves using a Micro USB cable does not work. The only response I can get is data sync when attached to my PC.

If you are with T-Mobile, I sure hope you have insurance or JUMP. As a T-Mobile employee, I can vouch that this problem is considered a hardware defect and would fall under an insurance plan. The only thing is though, you'd you have to return to full uprooted stock as an employee in your store will have to perform a physical and software diagnosis. Physical is easy as long as the phone has no cracked screen, no water damage and is YOUR phone. Software, they will plug it into our diagnosis tool where we'd be able to see if you've installed ROMs and such, which would void your warranty.

Yeah. I've gone to stock..still doesn't charge. Re-rooted and flashed aokp again and same thing.
I honestly have no idea what could cause this. I've never..and i really mean never dropped my phone, nor had any sort of shock or damage to it. No liquid/moisture anywhere around it. No dust. It doesn't make sense for it to be something physical.. it's still being picked up by my computer. I'm still able to flash and transfer files to/from the phone. It just is not charging.

Well, it's most likely a malfunction then my friend. A customer came into my store just the other day with his S5 he just purchased three days prior. The device was stuck on that S-View screen even when the S-View case was not covering the screen and even completely detached. We tried everything you can at a T-Mobile store. Even factory reset. Still, the problem persisted. It happens friend, hope you have insurance or JUMP

Are you still having this issue?
I am having the same issue, but this only happens when installing a rom. You cannot just reflash the stock rom. If you still have to phone, I can give you a link on what to down load to set your phone back to defaults. Once you set it back to defaults you should be fine.
My issue:
I installed any custom rom and this Tmobile Phone will not charge at all!!!!
Complete set back to Tmobile Defaults charges perfectly.
I will try flashing a custom Kernel with battery management to see if this help.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up selling the phone to someone for a cheaper price. I tried to ODIN back to stock, however it didn't work. I'd still like to know why it would stop charging if a custom ROM was installed though.

I found my issue, it first came by my root method. I was using a method that wasn't designed for my model. Then the issue was recovery, again wrong type for model. Finally I got everything to work and I lost lte. to fix that I just added the LTE profile and it works.
