I just got off the phone with Verizon today and I'm getting my fourth gnex is anyone else having issues this abundantly? First it was two phones due to faulty screens then one dropped data every thirty seconds. Now I have a faulty charging port.

Another unsatisfied VZW user. You guys have it rough.
Four times? You must break the spell!
If I were you I'd buy the next one thru authorized Verizon's Witch Doctor.
I've been offered the razr Maxx or whatever the highest gig iPhone is from Verizon to fix my issues. I'm very satisfied. I love my gnex I've just had so many issues I was curious if its my magically horrible luck or what.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I just got this gnex this weekend and have not had any problems. I upgraded from a Bionic. I'm just going through these forums to see what kind of problems to lookout for. I hope your luck gets better.

Thanks man. I'm glad to see the charging issue doesn't seem widespread.

I'm on my 3rd Nexus as well. First one the DAC half burnt out so I wasn't getting any audio through the earpiece and mic stopped working. Second one had faulty charging. Would charge it full and after in plugging it would still think it was charging and the phone would wake the screen by itself every so often causing huge battery drain.
The one I have now has a small problem but its tolerable. The speaker doesn't turn off immediately. There about a second or two of air and then when it does turn off it make a small pop sound.

My VZW Gnex has been fine. Every so often mine will drop a data connection, but so does every other LTE device. It's by no means wide spread.
I've been very pleased with mine so far. I'm glad to hear that Verizon is doing a good job of giving replacements to people with issues.
I have had charging issues where it thinks it is connected to charger, and keeped turning on the screen when idle. I also have problem with my headphone plug, where it sometimes thinks I have connected headphones which leads to no sound in the earspeaker and microphone turned off.
In addition I now have problems with sound only coming from one of the headphones when connected.
All this on the same phone, never returned it. Samsung QA really sucks...
Yea my charging issue is its just not charging 100% of the time. I have to do the BS bending the cord to the perfect spot

Guess I've been lucky.
I'm thinking pure coincidence unless VZW phones are made with different hardware and by someone else.
No hardware problems for me.

Clearly hardware issue if you've tried multiple SIMs.
Mine doesn't work. I was playing about 2 hours, locked it, went to see a friend, and when I took the mobile again, it was on "Google" logo, and never again passed from there. No Roms, no root, now I'm waiting Vodafone brings me a new one (Only 1 week old)
Well so much for great customer support. I called to get the phone sent and then they told me I could choose to receive a brand new phone in store. One guy flat out lied to me and told me that no stores within 50 miles had the phone then they had me on the phone for six hours before someone says we can only send a refurb so take it or dont. Horrible service yesterday so beyond less than pleased.

Got my first CDMA Nexus on the day released. Was running IMOSEYON's Kernel at 1.42ghz and phone suddenly rebooted. Nothing I did from that point on would write to memory. Tried 2 or 3 ways to restore factory image but it didn't clear sdcard (as it's supposed to). Tried to relock bootloader using fastboot and it would say it did so but was unlocked again upon a reboot. Finally returned it under insurance. Had to pay deductible since it was permenantely rooted even though I think there was an electrical problem in the memory write circuit.
Got new phone and all was well until I dropped the thing last weekend on tile and cracked the screen (first time in 4 years of smart phones). Everything still worked, but returned it under insurance after restoring factory images (successfully). Another $100 bucks down the drain.
Got new phone. Set everything up and it started random reboots - particularly when charging. Reloaded CMR recovery that had worked so well. Still randomly rebooting.
Insurance is sending me my 4th phone in a month and a half (free this time). I broke one, but two out of three appear to have been duds. Quality control issues???
Anybody else having this kinda problem? I've used (rooted and rom'ed) an HTC Incredible, Droid Charge, Asus Transformer and Kindle Fire with no (permanent) problems. This is, frankly, disappointing.
HAve you tried using your phone stock without messing around with ROMS or bootloaders and custom kernels?
The majority of problems I've had with these types of devices have been with non-stock units...
It's probably because you are over clocking. Charging and using the phone with an overclocked processor generates a lot of heat. The phone will reboot on its own to save it from frying.
Scan the forums, other than your cracked screen you are describing known or soon to be known issues with the SGN.
I'm also on my fourth SGN. First had a line under the screen that looked like a crack. The next two had the lock up reboot issue and the one I'm on now isn't showing all the virtual SD space that all the others I received had, it's two gigs short.
It appears that quality control at Samsung is not as comprehensive as it should be.

If you want to complain on the phone then you should have stock room, if not you should complain in the rom thread. It sounds as if you have not had problems with the phone itself(on any of the phones), it sounds as if you have tampered with it. If so you shouldn't complain about the phone.

I'm also on my second defective Galaxy Nexus in a week. The first had horrible banding even at full brightness and a glitchy accelerometer or compass. You could open Google Sky Map and sit the phone on a table and watch it jump around the night sky. The new one has a creaky case, a green cluster of dead pixels in the center of the screen, and all of the greys are royal purple. Not cool. Samsung needs to work on their quality control.
If my third is a bum unit, I'm going either Razr MAXX or D4.

The phone would become unresponsive and reboot itself. Sometimes it would say the headset was connected and I would lose the microphone and speakers which was terrible when I was on a call because the other party couldn't hear me any more and I couldn't hear them. It was terrible. Sometimes it would force reboot multiple times in the course of a few minutes. I even tried just running plain stock but it made no difference.

I just bought a Nexus yesterday form somewhere else for $100 more. But is a legit seller, super fast shipping, and I'm impatient so that 3 week wait would almost be worth $100.
Either way, if this deal works out good for you. I was just paranoid and actually paid a bit more to buy from a reputable seller and have peace of mind.

I saw numerous recent reports from new egg stating that their "new phone" came with the seals broken, Chinese business cards loaded inside, finger prints, and reports of device tampering (setup program didn't launch, went straight to home screen)
Often on sites such as this, they sell at low prices because they acquire a large stock of cheap devices from an over seas distributor, and having some of the phones having been tampered with would lower the price for them significantly.
Let's hope the sale is legit, and maybe just an overstock of silver/white phones......

Boot into the bootloader by holding down both volume up and down and power.
Scroll to recovery using the volume keys and select recovery.
When you see the android laying on his back press volume up and power. You might have to do it a few times. Eventually, it will show a menu.
Then clear user data and reboot.
Let me know if that works. You will lose your data but your phone will be functional again.
If that doesn't work we can try another method.

I'm going to try to do this tonight most likely when I get home.
I'm hoping there is a way to access the internal memory without booting the device. Someone recommended adp connecting via the computer, and somehow accessing the internal flash memory.
I'm going to copy/paste a well written explanation that details what I've done, researched, ect. In case anyone else finds this thread and hopefully they'll find it useful..
I'm experiencing a similar issue with my international version unlocked gsm galaxy nexus. My device is still on the stock ROM, not rooted, and no modifications. It had been updated to the latest version of Android available for this device via an ota update. My carrier is Tmobile USA.
I got it a few weeks ago from daily steals.com unsubsidized, and had been experiencing intermittent and random restarts of the device. This started about four days after getting the device, and would happen 3-4 times a week, sometimes multiple times per hour.
I researched online and found that random restarts were a common issue with galaxy nexus devices, especially gsm versions, and that at the time there were no known solutions to fix this issue besides factory resetting. Some users claimed after a hard reset, the device continued to randomly reboot. Others noticed the reboot issue stop upon the reset, but only to manifest itself again over time.
After about a week or two of this intermittent reboot issue, the phone seemed to have stopped restarting, or at least if it was, I wasn't noticing it (i.e. It was in my pocket, or I was sleeping).
Now, after it performing perfectly (as far as I know) for about a week, I thought it might have been a fluke, and that uninstalling some programs and updating others solved the issue, and it was just a software conflict.
Unfortunately for me, I was wrong. This afternoon after unplugging my phone from the wall and turning it on, it begun to boot loop. The previous night, I had let the device's battery completely drain to the point where the phone shut off.
Now it's not even staying on for more than 10 seconds at a time before restarting. If I can manage to click into an app before it restarts, it loads up fine, then it freezes, and I hear a Pop sound from the device and it restarts.
I haven't tried hard resetting the device yet, as I'm hoping there's a way to recover some of my data on the device first.
I did however somehow manage to boot it into safe mode once accidentally, which didn't do much as it still rebooted within ten seconds.
Some possible explanations that I've read across the internet include
1) general Android OS error
2) issue with wifi being turned on
3) possible issue with corrupted Sim card?
I've managed to turn off wifi in the few seconds the device was last on, but it still rebooted.
I removed my Sim card entirely and tried to boot as well, to no avail.
I've contacted Samsung USA, but they don't provide support for my device because it's the international version. They gave me a phone number for the UK Samsung support office, but I cannot dial it, as I believe it might be restricted on my phone plan, and I need to get a calling card.
I sent daily steals an email regarding this issue, but I'm not really expecting much from them.
Have many other people experienced the boot loop issue? I've seen a few incidents so far. Is it software? Hardware related?
Evidently people with custom roms are experiencing this issue as well, meaning it's a hardware issue, a software issue that certain roms share the same code, or a driver issue.
What's sad it's that my HD2 with Android hacked onto it still works fine, even after going through the washing machine full cycle while on with a fully charged battery...
Any thoughts/advice?
Thanks in advance for responding.

Ordered a GN from dailysteals on the 21st. It arrived at my door 8 days later. No issues with the brand new phone.
Ordered mine with the most recent sale. Received in about a week with the factory seal almost broken, but it was hanging on by just a little bit. The unit is brand new and no problems. Only thing was the adapter that dailysteals included for the charger did not fit the Samsung Euro wall charger. Luckily had another one.
Battery life has been fantastic so far. I took it out of the package turned it on and the battery lasted over 12 hours without a charge!
It is not a jakju unfortunately and I don't want to mess around with it. The Google Play store website shows it as a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Nexus too.
I bought my nexus when they had it on March 1st and I have no complaints. The phone came brand new in the box with the factory seal and has worked just fine since the day I got it. Even though I paid a little more then it is in I'm very happy with the purchase.

Hi all, I recently purchased a nexus to replace my ailing evo 4g today from sprint and it came with a little surprise. The phone is horrible at picking up touch inputs, literally to the point the phone is unusable, like when you physically press the key "n" onscreen and "m" and a backspace is the result; and this happened literally out of the box. If i hadn't bought the last galaxy nexus of all the sprint stores in reach, i would have of course gotten another phone; however when the sprint rep checked to see when the next batch of them come in, there's supposedly a halt on shipments itself of the phone to sprint for unspecified reasons. I really really need some help on this one as im truly contemplating returning the phone and leaving sprint altogether. Browsing the web, I found this (http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/18431-tuning-driver-to-deal-with-unresponsive-touchscreen/) link in which someone tuned the input drivers for more responsiveness on the nexus s. My question is can this work on the nexus? If not, what needs to be done so i can finally enjoy my nexus!??

No can do for the moment, nearest sprint store with a nexus is too far away. I tried using the kernel fixes I mentioned in the op but ended up not getting any good results at all with the added bonus of having my phone stuck with a stock image which for some reason looks for a sim card and doesn't connect at all?? im shocked at how difficult this is turning out..
I am having the same issue as you, also my phone sometimes just stops responding to touch completely! All the power buttons work so it isn't a software issue, but the screen just doesnt respond to touch input. My question is, what do I do in order to return it and get a replacement?
Do i relock the bootloader and flash back the custom rom??
Im a bit of an Android noob and not sure how to return it compeltely to stock. I am running Francos kernal with a deodexed stock rom and unlocked bootloader.

This isn't my issue unfortunately My screen becomes unresponsive altogether, and nothing apart from a battery pull fixes it. So I called Amazon and am getting a replacement.
Just gonna make sure I got all my data and hopefully this is just a one off
Otherwise I think I will have to go with another device, even though I do love the Nexus
Ps. It could even be a faulty touchscreen driver

I've had my phone for about a week or so and since that time I've had it randomly shutdown during phonecalls while plugged into my charger in the truck. I think it did this while playing music through Google Play as well as talking to my wife, but it keeps happening. The phone is NOT rooted and I suppose it could be an app I have installed, but it's frustrating trying to figure out which one if that's the case.
I haven't confirmed it, but it *appears* to be only happening while either A) connected to BT or B) plugged into my charger in the truck (which I used previously for my Atrix) or C) maybe it's while both are connected? I haven't noticed it happening other than when it's plugged in and using BT. Also, forgot to mention it shows me a picture of the battery when it drops (whether it's full or half full or whatnot) and I can hold in the power button and it comes back up.
I scoured Google and saw several posts about this issue, but none of them provided too much information. Anyone else have this happen yet? Should I contact ATT and get it exchanged? Any help is appreciated.
If you've only had it for a week, I'd take it back to an AT&T store for an exchange. My first GS3 was stock and had issues out of the box with random shutdowns and reboots. Took it back and asked for a new sim card also just to be sure. The replacement has been rock solid, so the first one was just a dud. The AT&T store I took the first one back to was very helpful and made the swap with no hassle.

So some of them are just random duds? Well that's good to know I guess. Hopefully they'll be willing to exchange it at their store. Is there any other possibility anyone can think of or should I just swap it?

My first one was shipped from AT&T wireless. Took it to an official AT&T wireless store (not just one of the authorized dealers) and it was swapped quickly with few questions asked. Lots of these were made in a short period of time to meet demand, so some made it through half baked. New one has zero issues.

My first one did that and i found that it always did it to me and i tried to replicate it and found that if left in heat it random reboots everytime.
Ive always left ever phone ive owned in my truck while playing bball and this is the only one that does this.

Hello, my Verizon One won't seem to charge. The other day I woke up, used my phone till it was at about 85%, then topped it off back to 100% before I left as I was going to be on the road most of the day. When I took it off the charger I noticed it was a bit warm, not excessively so but noticeable. A couple of minutes later (it had been off the charger) I noticed it was getting hotter. I restarted it hoping for the problem to sort itself out. Maybe 30 minutes later the battery had dipped to 25% and the phone was very warm. I started to get worried and turned it off. Hoping that would at least postpone the problem I put it aside and didn't mess with it. About another half hour later I picked up the phone to see if it had cooled off, only to find that it was even hotter! I got very worried and actually had to hold an ice cube to the back of the phone because I'd heard of bad things happening to overheating phones. That seemed to solve the problem and the battery seemed to have finally run out because it didn't heat up anymore. I got home and tried to charge it to no avail. The thing seems to be completely dead. I was running CM 11 but I hadn't messed with any processor settings. I thought it would be a software issue because of the beta version of CM but idk after it continued to overheat after it was shut down. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, if I should just send it to HTC support let me know. I've been reluctant to contact them since the phone is rooted and all...
I have heard to place the phone under a light with the charging cord hooked up. I know it sounds weird but people says it works. I have heard nothing but horror stories about cm11 and refuse to run that Rom. From issues that you describe to it breaking the lte radio and having to flash an ruu to get it working again. There are so many other Roms that are real good.

Before all this CM11 worked great. No lag and everything seemed to work fine minus a couple occasional glitches. Could it be the ROM as it continued to heat when turned off?

There's no harm in calling Verizon tech support, telling them your problem and asking for a replacement device. The worst they can say is no. But then you'd have other options. I don't see them telling you no. I had an issue with a phone a got off Craigslist and they replaced it. I didn't tell them I wasn't the original owner but it was only a few months old and shouldn't matter anyway. They didn't even ask tho.

The exact same thing happened to me about a month ago and I have been terrified to send it in to HTC or use my Squaretrade replacement program for fear they would figure out it was rooted and send me back my broken device with a voided warranty.
Finally I took it into verizon yesterday and they are now sending me a new one in the mail.
I have to send them my broken one after I receive the new one and I'm afraid they might detect its rooted and charge me the $600 for the new device they sent me.
Anyone gone through something similar?

I bought my HTS One from Viva Mobil too, and it clearly was shipped by Verizon.
Three weeks ago, it stopped booting or charging. I walked into a local VZW store and they couldn't wake it either, so they couldn't see I had rooted the phone. They ordered a warranty replacement for me.
I doubt that they're going to bother to see what ROM is on the returned unit..

Three weeks ago, it stopped booting or charging. I walked into a local VZW store and they couldn't wake it either, so they couldn't see I had rooted the phone. They ordered a warranty replacement for me.
I doubt that they're going to bother to see what ROM is on the returned unit..

Just got back from the VZW store, they took it but said "if any software manipulation was detected" I would be charged $300 for the refurb phone. Better than $600 but I'm kinda worried.
I believe this is associated with running a non sense based rom on the phone. There was another guy who had his phone overheat and speakers blown when he was running AOSP, and I know the overheating thing happened to multiple people. I feel like for some reason it's too risky to run AOSP because of these horror stories so if I want an AOSP feel I'll just run a GPE rom with xposed to tweak it how I like. Never had bad luck since, and I predict I won't have any in the future since these roms are made for our hardware by HTC themselves.
