Hey. Does anyone knows how to disable the sensor that turn off the display during calls? What is it called in hardware disabler app?
BTW. I'm not asking about the light sensor....
Thanks

You mean you want to disable the proximity sensor which turns off the display while holding it near your ear? although I can't really figure out why you want to do that, because it has nothing to do with you, but anyway you have to edit your init scripts and prevent the drivers being loaded.

So, you dropped your phone from some height, and now it doesn't go into landscape anymore?
do you mean your phone won't physically open, or it won't tilt to landscape when you change the orientation of the phone?
If its the latter, sounds like you busted your accelerometer.

Yeah I was talking bout the screen orientation but when I reboot my phone it works fine and after a while it doesn't, so I don't think the accelerometer is broken

Not sure if this will help, but I have heard of cases where it's an app that's causing the system to stop responding to the accelerometer. I have a friend who owns a Samsung Galaxy S who had his accelerometer stop working, only to find it working after uninstalling a bunch of apps.
So you might want to consider that it wasn't necessarily the drop that caused it.
Some dev knows if it is possible??
Thanks in advance for the answers

If you mean from the completely off state (powered down) then no. These phones don't keep running. The only phones I know of that can do that are blackberries.
If that's not what you meant then please give more info.

Symbian phones also do that...but, i'm thinking that if the Desire HD at power-off is in an "ibernate status" maybe there could be a possibility...

Auto Power on Android when the charger is Connected
Does it have anythin to do with the phone's Kernel or Is it the bootloader?! i'm a bit confused, IS it all about the hardware ?!!.. i'm after this for quite a while and haven't reach a solution !!..
Would anybody help ?!

The thread objects ask about power ON not off.... I think will be a good thing to make itself on..
Inviato dal mio Desire HD usando Tapatalk
I can remember where I saw the damn video, but someone turned the phone on and off simply by swiping the hand over the top of the display (where proximity sensor is.) I think it's just screen on and off and not the phone it self, since it is close to impossible to pull that off.
Auto power on: I think it is possible
Symbian phones can Auto POWER ON when you set an alarm and the alarm goes off. Currently, i see no such feature in android.
However, it is interesting to know that you can actually REBOOT/ RESTART your android phone using custom build roms. I have personally tried kyrillos 9.5 which has this feature.
It means that there is a batch of instructions which instruct the phone to reboot/ restart after it has switched off. I think these instructions should be closely looked at and exploited.
Another take on this is - may be the command only logs you out from the system and logs in without actually switching off the phone completely. but i think this should not be the case since android actually boots up after taking a lot of time to load on rebooting.
Whats your opinion guys?
I don't know. As far as I was aware, once the phone is off it's off.

Sorry just re-read my post, didn't mention what setting you had to calibrate.
In the Display settings under G-Sensor calibration. Make sure you place it on a flat surface.
i have tried it now but what is it to do with the screen sensor?
i havr just checked if it helps and it didnt :-(

Hey guys.
Does anyone know whether it's possible to switch off the "flip-to-mute-call" feature? I suspect this feature to be the reason why my dialer drains my battery after making a call!
Maybe there is a config file where i can disable this feature? Couldn't find it in the settings...
Thx

You can, from Settings / Sound Settings. Original ROM Sense UI.

No i can't there a few things there which i can disable but not the flip to mute call feature
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
No, flip to mute feature cannot be disabled; you have to choose one of two options. This has been causing me to miss important calls even when the phone is not "flipped" by me and it's exasperating - to say the least. How stupid of them to assume everybody would want this?

You have not added anything new to the discussion.
No offense, but you are spamming thread.
Does anyone know of an app that will say the time out loud when you press the power button to turn wake the device???
e.g. so when your in the lockscreen mode.
You could probably get tasker to do it. Good luck though.

you can try svoice by saying hi galaxy and ask it what time in your location

I'm sure you can do this with driving mode on (which I previously had set up on 4.1) however I checked again and I can't find the option to read out the time.
Hey, guys
Thanks for your idea, I will try to implement it in my named Cover Algorithm.

Thanks for the replies...
Still no luck though..
I've had a look at Tasker but unless people could be kind and guide me through how to achieve this, i am fairly certain it won't allow me to..
I have however found an app that speaks out loud the time pretty quickly and clearly (Say Time), but automating it to say it when i wake my device (if on loud) is proving more difficult than first anticipated :crying:
Don't worry mate.
I will surely add it in my app in upcoming days.

Hi,
Thanks... I did see your comment "I will try to implement it in my named Cover Algorithm" but i had no idea what you meant..
What app is this???
Please ignore my previous comment.... I have just checked out your apps on the playstore... makes sense now..haha
When do you think you could implement this idea?
Also, would it be possible for this to say the time out loud ONLY IF device is NOT on silent?
Thank you

Thanks for trying out my app.
It will just some time to implement because I am currently working on help & paid version of Cover Algorithm.
Yep, it will be possible to say time when device awakes only if device not in Silent.
Please consider rating the app if you like
