So, you dropped your phone from some height, and now it doesn't go into landscape anymore?
do you mean your phone won't physically open, or it won't tilt to landscape when you change the orientation of the phone?
If its the latter, sounds like you busted your accelerometer.

Yeah I was talking bout the screen orientation but when I reboot my phone it works fine and after a while it doesn't, so I don't think the accelerometer is broken

Not sure if this will help, but I have heard of cases where it's an app that's causing the system to stop responding to the accelerometer. I have a friend who owns a Samsung Galaxy S who had his accelerometer stop working, only to find it working after uninstalling a bunch of apps.
So you might want to consider that it wasn't necessarily the drop that caused it.

Anyway to disable autorotate for homescreens only and not everything else?

I think Cyan's Rom allows that. Not sure otherwise. Do you use Spare Parts? It might have that option too.

hmmm wierd i dont see anything that only turns off homescreen auto rotate either, either you can turn if off completely or you can't kinda sucks, gets kinda annoying to wait for it to go back to portrait everytime you take it out of the pocket.

Sorry just re-read my post, didn't mention what setting you had to calibrate.
In the Display settings under G-Sensor calibration. Make sure you place it on a flat surface.
i have tried it now but what is it to do with the screen sensor?
i havr just checked if it helps and it didnt :-(

One thing I have always wanted to know.... just hot good is the Proximity Sensor on the device? i mean could you make a app that uses the sensor to locate large items in a room and distance to them or is it just a really naff sensor?

Anyone tried to see if the incoming / outgoing call screen can be landscape as well as the normal portrait.
Always bugged me in the car that it wont go landscape on my Desire.

Thanks for letting me know.
That'll be my first app request sorted then.

It may well be built in but not enabled without the dock. There are contacts on the right side which tell the device which mode to go into so if the phone is placed in an official car dock (with the contacts) then it may go into a landscape mode thats not otherwise available.
Of course the docks arent available yet so theres no way of testing the theory lol.
Mark.
MY phone has done this twice now. The screen with flip itself and look like I'm looking at the phone in a mirror. The buttons, words, icons are all mirrored but I still have to tap in the normal spot to get them to work.
I have to pull the battery to get it fixed. Anyone else have this happen?

I've had it happen once as well, don't know what caused it.
Some rom devs have identified the issue is with the screen orientation transition effects.

This worked for me. No one has provided any feedback as to whether it working for them or not.

It is the ICS rotation animation causing it. Sometimes you can reproduce it if you lock the screen in landscape mode I believe

I've had this happen to me a couple of times.
I never had to pull the battery to fix it though... All I had to do was turn the phone to a different orientation, and then turn it back.
Whenever I had that issue I just tilted my phone sideways and it fixed it. Did you try putting it in landscape mode after the issue?

I tried everything, it would even rotate mirrored. If it happens again, I'll try stuff

When it happens to mine I just unlock it and turn it to the side then back up, goes back to normal after.
Originally I was only able to get out of it by pulling the battery. If you use a lock pattern it doesn't respond correctly to touch inputs.
I went to take a screen shot of the screen while it was upside down/mirrored, and when it shot it the screen went back to normal. I was able to unlock the phone. Seems like an easy enough workaround till the problem is resolved.
So I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. Recently I had some water damage on my phone so I swapped out the mainboard and some other parts with an old GS3 that I broke trying to replace the screen. Everything was workin' great except for the accelerometer - when I rotate to the left, the screen orients as if I went to the right, and vice versa. Up and down orientation works just fine.
I've tried calibration, different applications, and re-flashing the ROM I'm on. What else can I do?
Sounds like maybe it's in backwords?

What would be backwards? All the screws are in place, it's impossible that the mobo is turned around.
