lol! so true.. and there are multiple ways to flash and not every rom requires to b flashed the same as other roms.. some recommend cslks format all and some have the wipes built into rom that wipe when u flash.. then theres aosp that requires you to also flash a gapps.. and you can flash from any rom ics or gb.. just mobile odin to el26cwm to flash away or use one of the newer safer ics recoveries or pc odin.. or the easiest way is to tell the noobs to read the install instructions for the rom they want to install

Sorry if this offends you OP but this thread takes away from XDA quality.
With a little research, reading the threads, and not blindly flashing, people will learn. We all did.
Oh, and there are stickies, wiki, etc already.

Locking this down as there are already wikis and stickies for this and it has become nothing more than a troll fest in here

How would I flash a Kernal? I Want to flash Faux kernal with beastmod5
Sorry for the noob Question..
If you already have Beastmod installed (or any other custom ROM):
0. Download Faux' kernel and put it on your phone somewhere.
1. From the ROM, hold power and wait for the power-menu. Select reboot to recovery. Basically get into Clockwork recovery. Doesn't matter how.
2. Select "Install zip from sdcard"
3. Locate the kernel file
4. Select OK and wait for it to flash.
5. Reboot. It may take longer than usual for the first boot.
Don't forget to wipe Delvick and Cache before installing a new kernal..

+1 wipe cache and dalvik!!!!
Before I installed Darkside I rooted original 2.3.6 and backed it up with Rom Manager. My question is this right now I am trying to get to that original ROM I backed up and there is no problem with that other than I did flashed my modem as instructed in Darkside info. Now do I just restore from recovery menu or I need to restore + flash modem that I had before (btw what modem was there to begin with I do not know) And second thing about Darkside. Right now I see Darkside and Darkside evolution 2 so .... is it same thing ? Cause I was with Beta 2 ..then 3 then all sudden I see beta 4 yet it's Darkside ... not Darkside evolution 2 ... and on top of that I see 3 different modems to choose from ..... getting a bit confusing for me ....
All I want is my backup of rooted original with original modem on my device for a day or so ....then I'll go back to Darkside craziness I just want to test if my games will play better and battery life will do the same.
If my post a little crazy sorry I just all confused now.
P.S.
Is there a way to get original rom that I have backed up to look like ICS ..with Apex may be ? And I just love lock screen from Passion ICS ... how do I make one for my Galaxy S II T989 ?
Thank you guys !
First off, there's a q+a section, so post your questions there from now on.
I restore backups with different modems all the time; just make sure you are reformatting every time you flash a new rom. run this zip before you flash or restore
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477955
Questions go in the Q&A section
Oh snap ! was totally sure I am posting in it ! Thank you for your answer !
One more thing if possible. I am with ATT is there a modem that will work "better" with ATT or they are all the same ...and if they are why there is more than one instead just collectively agreed on one to use.
And any info on that ICS lock screen from Passion ICS anyone ? ( how to get one with T989)
After you flash the Super Wipe, Flash Kernel Cleanser, then flash the ROM.

After you have all the files you need on your SD Card...
1. Reboot to recovery.
2. Do a NAND BACKUP.
3. Flash Super Wipe.
4. Flash Kernel cleanser.
5. Flash Radio if needed.
6. Flash ROM.
7. Reboot.
Some ROMS needs to reboot again after 10 mins so read carefully.

Yes you Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Dalvik-Cache..
Restoring a Nandroid Backup
Step 1. Boot up to Recovery with VolumeUp+Power.
Step 2. Select Wipe then Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Dalvik-Cache.
Step 3. Press the VolumeDown button on the side of your phone to go to the first menu.
Step 4. Select Backup/Restore
Step 5. Select Nand Restore
How do I flash an ics rom on my gingerbread rooted t989???? We never I flash aokp it boot loops! I been out of the loop a while can someone please help me???
Each ICS rom in the development section typically provides flashing instructions specific to the rom. I suggest you find the rom you want to flash and follow instructions in the OP. Keep in mind since you are currently running GB and wish to upgrade to ICS, you will need to flash an IGS radio. General flash instructions are usually as follows:
1. Factory Reset / Wipe Data or flash Darkside Superwipe
2. Flash Radio
3. Flash Rom
4. Reboot
5. Let rom settle for 5-10 mins, Reboot again
6. Enjoy. If you get a boot loop at this point or phone freezes at this point, flash Darkside Cache Wipe (which wipes cache, dalvik cache, and fixes permissions)
There's no special stuff I have to do before is it just like flashing a gb rom???
Same process, nothing special.

A quick question when going from a custom ROM to another ROM do you do a "Wipe data/factory reset" & "Wipe cache partition" before flashing the kernel then flashing the ROM or do you do the exact same process as flashing a custom ROM and kernel from stock?
well i did not understand your questiion fuully. however, let me explain the process to you.
!) download the rom and paste it into your sd card.
2)now, flash the appropriate kernel provided with the rom.
3)now the custom kernel will have cwm recovery installed in it bydefault
4)u need to enter cwm recovery using the voloume keys while the phone is booting
5)once entered, u need to 'wipe data/factory reset' and then, 'wipe catch partition', and then 'wipe dalvic cache'
6)now go to'install zip from recovery'
7)choose your rom and install it.
note: however, i suggest you to make a nandroid backup of your current rom so that incase if anything goes wrong, you can always restore your phone.
I just figured out my own question

What you do is read every word of the installation instructions of whatever it is you're trying to install.
This is the first time i flash my phone to move to the darkside.
T989 running ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.1.5 , Flashed with DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4 / CM10 Stable. After complete the flash and stuck on the CM splash screen.
After read the CM10 Thread, that mentioned i should not use the dakrside wipe.
1 - I can boot into CWM mode
2 - Cache and dalvik cache cannot wipe Any suggest that i should proceed next or thats bricked????
3 - If restore, the USB keep prompt error
Thanks

Your phones fine
If you can get into recovery. wipe data, wipe factory reset, wipe dalvik wipe cache. Flash cm10. Flash gapps. Reboot.
If you can't wipe anything in recovery and it freezes up. Your recovery is broken and you have to reflash it via Odin. Then go back and do what I said above
NEVER USE DARKSIDE SCRIPTS WITH CWM 6.XXXXXX OR TWRP 2.2.XXXXXXX OR 2.3XXXXX

I don't know what your saying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcffczu-0qA&feature=youtube_gdata_player. Watch this video. Download the files specified but the only files you will actually need are the Odin app and "Hercules.tar.cwm file. The only steps youd actually need to follow start at 3:50 and end at 6:27. This method will reinstall cwm version 5.0.xxxxx. As usual hold up down power to get into recovery mode. Use dark side super wipe and reinstall ROM and gapps then dark side cache wipe. since it IS the older cwm version 5.0.xxxx you do need the scripts. Once everything looks good and you decide to upgrade your recovery DONT use the scripts anymore. The newer recoveries do the work for the scripts
Edit:
Unlike the video explains you want to enter download mode before connecting your phone to Odin. I think to get into download mode you hold volume up / down then plug USB from pc into phone.. All at the same time
