Adobe dropping flash mobile..unstable on jellybean.. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

http://www.slashgear.com/adobe-no-j...-player-pulled-altogether-august-15-29236404/ ok so i I'm already on jellybean and what does this mean for future devices? I like flash!

So far it works well on JB, but yeah, that's really sad news.

Every heard of pepper plugin ... Google is working on integrating flash within the chrome browser ...
I hope they pull it off .

I actually use flash quite a bit, abc.com etc. my computer always freezes and just overall sucks for streaming. I don't watch TV except for 3 shows so gonna suck when no more flash. so far haven't had any problems with flash on jellybean but it's early yet.

I know when Adobe first announced they were discontinuing support for Flash an article said something about enabling OEMs to support their own proprietary version of Flash or something like that.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I didn't install Flash since I got the Nexus in December and haven't run into anything that needs it. I was worried when Adobe said that last time, now I'm not sure that I'll even miss it.

This is stupid in a terrible way (or vice versa). If flash is adobe's one horse show, why would they discontinue it? It's not like they have an upcoming release that would compete with their #1 product

That would require flash to be their number 1 product, which it is not, and considering it their one horse show would be a huge exaggeration as well... And especially not flash on mobile(since apple chose not to support it, most mobile sites already worked around it).
This is just like when they switched over the basic TV signal from Analog to Digital and my old handheld TV stopped working. So if Flash is Analog and HTML5 is Digital and considering almost no sites have Desktop HTML5 support its like not getting a signal once we lose Flash.
Click to collapse
That is a horrible analogy... It would be more like the cable company not changing the signal to digital while samsung sold you a tv only capable of handling the new digital signal.

Adobe tried everything to keep it alive. But Apple just didn't listen. Sometime back the iPhone had outsold Androids. That's when Adobe made the tough decision. Either way, HTML5 is the future.

Google includes a prebuilt version of flash in Chrome for the desktop. They will never include it in the Chrome app for mobile. Flash on mobile is dead starting with JB.

Doubtful, considering it relies on Hardware Acceleration to function properly (which anything below ICS lacks). =/
Just be patient and wait until ICS is released for our phones; or give CM9 a whirl in the meantime.

They showed an alpha/beta of the android version at SXSW this year. Normally a company wouldn't do something like that at one of the major events that caters to the demographic instagram is aimed towards... so it's more then likely coming out fairly soon.

Honestly, I think that whenever instagram does come out for android, it's gonna be too little too late. We have quite a number of really good options already available.
Granted....there aren't that many that have the name and notoriety...but yeah.
I'm just waiting for the API's to be released to Google+, then I think we'll see some really cool photo sharing apps.
I was thinking it would be too little too late as well.. but honestly its the existing android apps now that will see a drop in usage as long as instagram delivers with the quality filters. As much as I feel scorned by instagram for blatantly ignoring android for so long I can't help but get excites.to have access to their already huge social network of users - as alot of my friends have iphones

I still party like it is.
As long as I can still surf the web like I do on my phone now. I don't care really. Flash is outdated there is no arguing that. Its all about the her experience. If HTML5 Leads to a better experience then I'm all for it.
I rarely use flash. I just update Firefox to 14 which has native flash built in but then I later installed Flash giving 100% access to flash stuff on sites. If its a youtube video embedded i much prefer to get sent to the mobile app.
Smart designers do not incorporate important elements using flash. For the most part that just leaves flash games and non standard video players.
Overall people hardly use Flash... plus I'm betting XDA users will find a way to make it work on JB.

While the early Android phones were just iPhone clones and Apple had a right to be passed, anyone who confuses an iPhone for a Galaxy Nexus is a moron. Software patents need to go, code copyrights are enough. Patenting software is like patenting horror movies.

Bounty for WebOs multitasking ported to the Galaxy s3

I am offering a $100 bounty if a developer can incorporate WebOs multitasking into a SGS3 rom. Please join in and maybe a developer will take the challenge.
For those not familiar with WebOs, it offers true multitasking and is amazing. To see what I'm talking about, watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ30i-SqcGY&feature=youtube_gdata_player
WebOs has been ported to the Galaxy Nexus and has recently gone open source. This feature would make the sgs3 the greatest device in the world.
Again, you don't have to offer $100, but join in. I've always found that if the money is right, things get done.
Sent from my Jelly Bombed SGS3
Edit: There is a mod in root wiki that gives us webos like multitasking! It only works on AOKP though. It shouldn't be hard to port to TW or AOSP. The page has developer source codes and a road map to porting it. Come on developers, jump on this. Otherwise, I'll have to start pm'ing developers.. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/14167-mo...orizontal-app-switcher-011412build-17-update/
