No Flash - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So what exactly does it mean to me as a consumer not to have Flash on my Android Jelly Bean? I know alot about alot of things but I've never researched what exactly Flash does and How I will miss it.

You won't. With HTML 5.0 being rolled out, my understanding is, it makes flash absolute.

It will make flash obsolete. However for the immediate need of streaming media from the web (not YouTube or the like) you will not be able to view it.
Hopefully they follow suite soon a change their back end for media players.

I'm not too sure about that. Flash is widely used. HTML5 isn't too popular yet.

Kinda what I was afraid of based on what I've been reading. It seems like a big deal for mobile devices to lose Flash.

I read an xda official post on this. And what it seems is that adobe cut off their support to Google after 4.1.1. however in that same news post, they said if you obtain an apk of adobe flash, then it will work on 4.1.1. I haven't tried it. But I don't know why adobe did this.

With the flash apk and xscope browser flash is working flawless on my jelly bean GNex.

Doubtful, considering it relies on Hardware Acceleration to function properly (which anything below ICS lacks). =/
Just be patient and wait until ICS is released for our phones; or give CM9 a whirl in the meantime.
I just read about this. It has a nice sync option using your google account.

yeah I believe that we don't even have a ICS kernel, so even if it did flash the rotation would be wonkey.

Exactly.. mines always on, definitely a key feature, their phones might be similar but the same still stands, without proper sources we can't build OUR kernel, without OUR kernel, their version remains almost as useless as the i9100.

That would require flash to be their number 1 product, which it is not, and considering it their one horse show would be a huge exaggeration as well... And especially not flash on mobile(since apple chose not to support it, most mobile sites already worked around it).
This is just like when they switched over the basic TV signal from Analog to Digital and my old handheld TV stopped working. So if Flash is Analog and HTML5 is Digital and considering almost no sites have Desktop HTML5 support its like not getting a signal once we lose Flash.
Click to collapse
That is a horrible analogy... It would be more like the cable company not changing the signal to digital while samsung sold you a tv only capable of handling the new digital signal.

Adobe tried everything to keep it alive. But Apple just didn't listen. Sometime back the iPhone had outsold Androids. That's when Adobe made the tough decision. Either way, HTML5 is the future.

Google includes a prebuilt version of flash in Chrome for the desktop. They will never include it in the Chrome app for mobile. Flash on mobile is dead starting with JB.

They did leave it out and I'm glad, and it supports html5 not 4, this isn't 1999 anymore, we need to start using html5 and thankfully Google is pushing it. Soon we will see more and more sites make the switch and you won't know the difference. I honestly don't see many sites using flash too much.

I still party like it is.
As long as I can still surf the web like I do on my phone now. I don't care really. Flash is outdated there is no arguing that. Its all about the her experience. If HTML5 Leads to a better experience then I'm all for it.
I rarely use flash. I just update Firefox to 14 which has native flash built in but then I later installed Flash giving 100% access to flash stuff on sites. If its a youtube video embedded i much prefer to get sent to the mobile app.
Smart designers do not incorporate important elements using flash. For the most part that just leaves flash games and non standard video players.
Overall people hardly use Flash... plus I'm betting XDA users will find a way to make it work on JB.

While the early Android phones were just iPhone clones and Apple had a right to be passed, anyone who confuses an iPhone for a Galaxy Nexus is a moron. Software patents need to go, code copyrights are enough. Patenting software is like patenting horror movies.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but I would feel guilty releasing this when I know that the repartition could kill your phone. I know the phone has been out and you guys have had to wait awhile, but you've waited this long, why screw your phone up when legitimate cm is close. With korean 3.4 kernel source, we will be able to have cm done fairly quickly. It's not up yet but will be soon. Also, I have some exciting stuff planned for after cm (sense, miui, and whatever else you guys want).

Hey, xbox, with the source would it be easy to port the Korean version of 4.1 too? I am not knocking CM. I just don't see what you gain.
I only ask because it might be a few months before we get updated from Sprint.
Thanks
