I have seen someone ask this before and I can't seem to find it. Nor do I recall seeing an answer to the question.
Basically I'd like to know if theres a possible way of extending my custom "PowerOn.ogg" to play for more than 9 seconds instead of it just cutting off at that point?
>Thanks in advance

Hello, I have been able to change on every other ROM i have used, but unable to here. Tried pushing using adb, tried using root explorer, and as of just now, I have reloaded the rom with the new bootanimation in it. Sad to say, I looked at the one that was preloaded in the rom, and that isnt even the bootanimation that shows. Ughhh, just getting frustrated, hope someone else knows. And yes, I even tried renaming it sanim.zip.

Boot animations are handled differently on ICS. Instead of bootanimation.zip it uses another format (I tried to look it up but I'm currently running AOKP which uses another format). I myself haven't seen any way to change it yet.
Sorry!

Yeah, I figured that much out. I was hoping I was wrong in my searches, but handled by a .qmg file. I just don't know how to edit to point in the right direction or even know how to read one yet. I was hoping someone out there could point me in the right direction. I have found a forum which explains how it is handled, just doesnt tell me how to read/edit the file. Still searching......

Okay, so an update is required here. Aftery research, all things point to samsung changing to bootani.qmg during froyo rollout. I can find several other threads with .qmg files in them for boot, but nothing with custom boots due to the .qmg software being too mich $$$$. Will keep this ipdated as much as I can. Seems that there is a hex editor that can read them??? But I am at work, so cant try until tonight.
EDIT: This software appears to be unobtainable. You can look at the .qmg file via hex editor, but after reading all day long, these types of files are a waste of time to try and change, and have been a dead topic here on xda for quite some time. It boils down to the kernel whether it will support a different boot animation or not. So.... Now you know how much a dev has to work in order to make us all happy, because believe me, kernels are not easy, nor creating a custom rom in order to match and flow smoothly with it.
MOD: Close this thread if deemed necessary, was just hoping for a good answer, finally found it myself...

I really don't even know how to search for this because the only device I know of that I could compare the functionality I want is the iPod Touch. I moved to Verizon a while back and got the Galaxy Nexus. What I would like to do with my Epic is remove all of the phone functions and leave it as a WiFi capable device similar to the iPod Touch so that my son can use it to watch videos and play games. I keep airplane mode turned on, but I keep getting some notification about voicemail not working and I would prefer it to not be able to accidentally dial 911 since Sprint is required to allow that call if the phone tries to send it.
Are there any ROM's that do this, or is it easy to remove the necessary files? I currently have ACE2.0 flashed, and I love it, but I will switch if I need to.
Didn't someone just post this exact same thing? Delete dialeractivity.apk and there will be no dialer.

Sorry, I didn't see any threads that I thought were the same question. Does that take care of the voicemail notification too?
I found this when looking for something similar for a used Fascinate.
I haven't tried it yet, but intend to when I get some time in a couple weeks...
Looking at the package it deletes several apks and installs a "radiooptions" binary that gets run via script at boot-up.

I just have a couple of dumb questions.
Do the motions being active consume battery?
Do I have to engage anything before tapping my screen to send a file to another phone? (or is having that check box enabled1 enough?) also is the Galaxys3 the only phone compatible with that feature?
The commercial where the guy just swoops a document from his phone to the tv... What's the process for that and I imagine it only works with certain tvs after an annoying registration /setup process.
Are they working on improving svoice or is that not a huge priority
Is there a voice dialer like on froyo that doesn't require the internet to do phone functions? I don't like relying on 3g.
I'm sure I'll think of more, but I apologize if this is in the wrong thread. Please just let me know and I'll copy paste to the right one.

You have to turn on NFC and s beam then go to gallery or something to the file you want then put the phone back to back and then then phone will say touch screen to beam
You can get Google now with the offline pack. Its in the themed and app section
We don't really know what Samsung's priority are. With Google now out we can only hope Samsung trys to stepup their game

Oh ok thanks. And 1 was actually about whether or not the motions being in burnt up battery life. I'd still love to know.

Yes motions can cause battery drain.

As can be seen with the attached image, there are specific textual emoticons needed to trigger the graphic ones. I would like to know how to change what ones trigger them. I never use this it is always shortened to I and the same goes for others.
Any devs know what I am looking for? And if not any up for the challenge?

Pls help. my multi window is not working.
i was not able to enable or even disabled it.
im in s3-i9300 JB4.2.2(rooted)
Hi. Wrong forum completely. Look for the qna of the i9300. First conduct a good search. If you do so I guarantee you'll find your answer faster than asking someone. If you don't find an answer and have not been able to get clues to figure it out, post a thread as you did here stating your problem, steps you've done to solve it. Things you've done to your phone. Etc etc.
P.s. try holding the back button?

Is op trying to use multi window functionality on a aosp ROM? If so, that is unfortunate as it is a touchwiz feature that is not included in aosp ROMs.
