I have an app called mini diary and i decided to make a daily diary entry on my phone to practoce typing on it.
The problem is that there is a 1000 character limit. This sucks cause well i like writing diary entries the size of small essays so it takes 2-3 entries just to write what i want to.
Can some one modify the app to get rid of the character limit or atleast in crease it to atleast 2500

Have you tried emailing the developer?

I've had hands-on experience on C++, I'm sure Java doesn't differ too much. However, I don't have a laptop snappy enough to handle the android sdk & eclipse software, also, unless decompiling the apk puts it back to full source code, to my knowledge, it isn't as simple as an xml edit, HOWEVER it doesn't make much more difficult either, you just search through the code for the proper class that contains such information in limit, or perhaps another terminology used by its creator/dev and once found, you change its values to meet your needs, and then recompile. This however should be emailed to the dev, and if its something you want to tackle for yourself, (which anyone can for this type of edit)legally speaking, you should contact the dev for permission to make such modifications to his/her app, (unless his work is opensource then you're ok) otherwise, he's protected by any type of reverse engineering, aka decompiling.
I think the dev is sammy

can these be reprogrammed? to do other stuff. or be taken away? etc..
eBen if you could, you would not want to. You need them to do the functions that they are programmed for to take advantage of ICS
In adding the Search softkey to Bugless Beast v4.0.3, I learned how difficult it is to remove them. I wanted the Recent Apps outta there, but simply removing the entry in the XML caused issues. With help over at RootzWiki I was able to swap Recent with Search.
The other issue is when things are added, they stay lit on the lockscreen. I have found the smali code that controls this, but simply don't know enough on what to add to make it work. I did point this out to some devs who are really good with that stuff, so we'll see what happens. But for each thing added, all of these edits need to be made, which is tedious.

There's not many things to complain about and this is a very trivial thing to nit pick, but I hate a feature. I get a lot of mms from my girlfriend as she likes to take pictures, and whenever she sends me an mms with text included, my phone treats it like it's a slide show or a video. It even has a play and pause button on it and there's an indicator showing how much time is left, just like the video player. I can't zoom on the image or move it around at all and I have to save it to be able to zoom or move it. However, when she sends one without text, it's completely normal, meaning I can zoom and what not. Is there a way to fix this or bypass it?

I'm not sure how to edit posts on this app so, sorry for double posting but can some one tell me how to get the cm10 notifications on my stock note 2?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
I honestly don't know the specifics on MMS. But just because some os or apps flatten the text and image to a single screen doesn't necessarily make it the proper way. With the slide show view, I see it as multiple media bits sent in one envelope, so it shows me each bit.
I do recall having annoyances with trying to save, but using Handcent, for instance, that's never been an issue for me.

Hmm, I use Go SMS Pro for all my messaging, it seems to translate a MMS correctly. Are you using the stock messaging app?
Its annoying for me also. Its the stock mms app. It puts pictures in a sideshow.

Yep, stock everything. Which is why I'm trying to get the CM10 notification sounds. I asked the notification sound question a while back and someone said it was as simple and someone taking the sounds out of the package or something. I'm really only concerned about the sounds right now as I really miss them. Lol

I would try another SMS app honestly, I can't stand the stock one.
Hopefully someone can answer my question about CM10 notification sounds.......

Do you mean replacing all system sounds, or just the configurable ones without root? If you mean the latter, it should be easy enough to dl them from the cm git, or dl an image and extract from there. Once you have them, just copy to your sdcard and go crazy.

Just changing the sms tone and ring tone. Could I do all of this from my phone? Could you possibly tell me how sorry I'm a noob. I've downloaded CM10 to my phone and using androzip to search but I can't seem to find where the sounds are located.

In CM10, the sounds are in the OGG format, so they will have that file extension (they work fine in the stock Samsung Note 2 firmware). If you have downloaded the CM10 zip file to your phone and are able to browse through it, just sort by "File extension" and look through the names to find the sounds you want. I am not familiar with androzip, but if you prefer, you can sort the zip contents by "Path" to find CM10 ringtones in \system\media\audio\ringtones and CM10 notification sounds in \system\media\audio\notifications.
Extract the ringtones and notifications you want onto your Note 2 in the "\Ringtones" and "\Notifications" directories (these are in the stock firmware at the root of your phone, no need to create them yourself). More specifically, on my stock, non-rooted phone, the directories are "/storage/sdcard0/Ringtones" and "/storage/sdcard0/Notifications". Once there, they should be available immediately from where you normally set your phone's default sounds (don't quote me on this part ... it may require a reboot once the sounds are in the proper folders, but I don't think I had to).
Hi guys, I just wanna start off by saying I'm not sure if this is the right section, so correct me if I'm wrong. I want a keyboard similar to Google's for nexus devices, noe on the play store, but 5 row. Yes, I mean a number row on the top. Is there an app like this or an apk? If there is, can someone share it? Thanks.

I know there are keyboards in the store that have this. I know PerfectKeyboard does. With it I'm pretty sure you can display it all the time.

The only keyboard that I know of with the number row on top is the note2 keyboard. You can download it (or try nearly every other one) from the ported apps link in my sig. I dont even know of any like that in the play store either.
Ok, sorry, PK doesn't have it as a default option. I was thinking of the arrow keys. However, you can edit the punctuation in the suggestion bar to be numbers instead of punctuation. Only drawback is when you are typing a word it shows suggestions instead. Or you could turn that feature off.

so ive been tinkering and messing around with my s4 and I must say,I absolutely love this phone! I couldnt ask for anything more. However, there is a slight tiny little detail that ive noticed that I wish samsung would fix/improve or perhaps maybe an app developer could modify, and that is the "gallery app"
I dunno why this hasnt been done before. I would have figured someone out there would have done this by now, I know it can be done. Its just the matter of doing it (im sure its hard work though), and im no developer or modder. Trust me if I was one, i would have done this by now.
Anyway, back to the gallery app, and I absolutely love it. I love the fact that you can edit/crop, add effects, filters, draw, etc. without having to download any additional 3rd party apps. You can do everything all within the gallery app. BUT, you cant add "text/captions" to any of the photos??? That is my only complaint however, I wouldnt say complaint... I look at it more as a tiny hiccup.
It doesnt really bother me, but I really do wish that you could have the ability to add text/captions to pictures. So now, I have a seperate photo editing app, just for adding captions. I do all my editing and filtering on my gallery app then I gotta open the other app just to add text/captions... *sigh*
Im kinda hoping that maybe an app developer or modder see's this post and gets the bright idea to incorporate and add that feature inside the gallery app... haha
Thats just my two cents, thanks for reading

Why not do everything with one app. I have 4 different photo editing apps on my phone I use different ones for different things.

Well... that would be awesome too... sucks that we gotta use download multiple apps jus to edit one picture
