i guess i can call this a guide for anyone it helps. Just thought id put this out if atleast anyone didnt know they might find it helpful. install launcher pro as home app, u don't have to delete twiz. once ur on ur lpro home screen just long press then choose shortcuts, then choose activities, u will now see alot of apps that where really not usable unless u knew all the dialer codes and there's even a few that arent dialer codes, choose yours and then ull have a shortcut to some deeper s2 options. i even found the internal 0 trigger counter last night by accident and it still stated zero..sweet. hope this helps anyone and if everybody already knew this then excuse my post, i was just wanting to contribute to the forum some how. later, veritasequita

No problems it does help, these types of post remind people with LP or if people just got LP and are new to the functions it can access these hidden settings.
I like LP as you stated, been using it on my Epic and now on my EpicTouch.
Is it possible for me to customize my launcher however I want and place the apk into a rom or theme and once flashed and installed my launcher would already be exactly as I always had it?
I'm not trying to back it up and restore it. What I'm really trying to do is get go launcher the way I customize and set all my widgets, apps, and short cuts into a .zip and once its flashed and the app installs it autimatically comes the way I already had it with no need to restore any kind of data.

I doubt it... that requires backing up the desktop configuration. Also... go launcher is CIQ renamed YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
No. That info is stored in the data partition, not with the app.

or you could make a backup of it in titanium and restore it every time.
EDIT: ignore this. I just read the op thoroughly

I understand what you're saying, as I do a similar thing with my roms. What I do is simply copy in the data with the launcher apk. However, widgets never restore properly. One could modify a launcher to change the defaults, but I couldn't tell you where to begin.

Ya I kind of figured it would be possible since different launchers have a different "stock" setting that they set the home screen so I wanted to see if it was possible to edit that "stock" into whatever I want. But it may be a little bit too much to do. I may think about it later, but not for now. Thanks though.

What's CIQ? Is that like an ATRAC? I think I heard about that in a museum.
Such old news. Only a few months ago but yet it seems to have faded completely.
We should go back to using those KnowCIQ banners. To prevent that kind of thing in the future. Though I don't really care.
So.... The Chinese have all my top secret data?
So, suprising no one has tried to remove it, rewrite one without it, or just blatantly expose the code. Probably could make some headlines considering how widely used GoLauncher is. I hear and see people talk about it but I've only seen references. (the again, never really researched it other than Google.... <- - - THE WORLDS LARGEST CIQ?)

Can I ask why not? I get not wanting to go as far as custom roms, but with adblockers and access to the system and data partitions, you can do quite a bit without having to go for a full rom.
Well I'm just comfortable with touchwiz and honestly the last phone I had I thought I knew what doing and bricked. So I lost the courage just getting into all this so I'm a newbie...
:'( but I see all the customizations and would love to have them so I just wanted to take the easy way out and get some apks that would work with my stock...
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium HD app
Best way to customize your unrooted phone is probaly thru your launcher of choice... there are some that can be customized more than others, basically what your looking for is different themes/icons which you can find for free or buy in the play store.

What I really want is a black screen planner or a blacked out Facebook, Twitter, transparent multiview a different lockscreen clock... I'm guessing everything I want in going to have to root my phone for huh?

Actually those can probaly be found doing searches thru xda,or google for sure.

I had found some but most of them said must root... And the ones that didn't I was afraid to install because I wasn't sure... I'll keep looking though... I thought maybe someone would have a link or something here...

Have to agree with lickarock. There's still quite a lot you can do without going all out like full ROMs. If you simply root your phone and load SuperSU (SuperUser), you can load something like ES File Explorer and do simple installs of apk files through there. You really don't have to worry about bricking your phone in that situation.
While I do load different roms on my N2, like you, I just wanted to get blacked out apps also. I'm running blacked out Gmail and Facebook currently, which I loaded through ESFE. Just make sure you uninstall the original apps then install the apks through ESFE and reboot. Everythings running smooth on my phone.
I've had a few scares loading different ROMs where my phone wouldn't boot up and I thought I maybe bricked my phone.......luckily I got it back up and running. Battery pulls suck.......lol
Just be sure to read through all the posts that you find which interest you. Typically, people post issues they are having and possible fixes. If you want to run different roms or something later, just be sure your phone is running the correct specs for it, ie....your baseband version is MA7 vs MC2, not all roms are compatible with multiple versions.
Okay I think I will go that route... ? Say I root it, and 4.2 finally makes its way ota will it still hit my phone or will I have to unrooted in order to get it?

What spary said! You're really better off just waiting for one of the devs to roll the updates out.
Again....read the threads all the way through and if you still have questions, do a SEARCH and see if you can find your answers.......if you can't find after searches, don't be afraid to ask ?s.

If you want a brick-proof(ish) method to get a Root, just Odin a full rooted restore to your phone. Such as this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241136. Its about as mindless and safe as you can get.

If you choose not to root, there are still several ways to have a highly customized phone.
Personally, I am a fan of rooting. I have rooted every android phone I have had except my Note 2. Long story short, I bought my Note 2 through my business and cannot afford to run into any headaches that can sometimes pop up even to the most experienced flasher. I will say the Note 2 is also the first android phone that I haven't felt the need to root for increased performance. CPU, RAM, Battery life, this phone has all three for days.
I created a thread dedicated to creating a custom look without root. And in many ways this is the most custom phone I've ever had.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274378
It's a work in progress and I am adding more and more stuff all the time.

For a blacked out messaging app you might check out Go SMS Pro. There are downloadable themes and you can make your own.

so ive been tinkering and messing around with my s4 and I must say,I absolutely love this phone! I couldnt ask for anything more. However, there is a slight tiny little detail that ive noticed that I wish samsung would fix/improve or perhaps maybe an app developer could modify, and that is the "gallery app"
I dunno why this hasnt been done before. I would have figured someone out there would have done this by now, I know it can be done. Its just the matter of doing it (im sure its hard work though), and im no developer or modder. Trust me if I was one, i would have done this by now.
Anyway, back to the gallery app, and I absolutely love it. I love the fact that you can edit/crop, add effects, filters, draw, etc. without having to download any additional 3rd party apps. You can do everything all within the gallery app. BUT, you cant add "text/captions" to any of the photos??? That is my only complaint however, I wouldnt say complaint... I look at it more as a tiny hiccup.
It doesnt really bother me, but I really do wish that you could have the ability to add text/captions to pictures. So now, I have a seperate photo editing app, just for adding captions. I do all my editing and filtering on my gallery app then I gotta open the other app just to add text/captions... *sigh*
Im kinda hoping that maybe an app developer or modder see's this post and gets the bright idea to incorporate and add that feature inside the gallery app... haha
Thats just my two cents, thanks for reading

I I decided to do a little messing around on my phone today. The lack of Swype features on the stock keyboard irritated me. Lol So I was messing with build prop.
First you must be rooted, second get a Build Prop editor, or something like ROM Toolbox, third be sure to make a back up in case you mess something up.
Open your build prop and look for these lines: ime_trace_apply and ime_trace_menu. Tap one to open it up and you'll see Property Value:false and Default Value:false. Click the selection box under Default Value and change it to true. Save and go back into the build prop.
Do the same thing for the next line. So now both of your items (ime_trace_apply and ime_trace_menu) will read True. Be sure to save Build Prop and reboot. Once you do that, try to use the keyboard.
You should see a quick pop up explaining what Trace Input is. If you don't, then check in your setting and make sure you have it checked. That's all there is to it. I'm so much happier with the stock keyboard now.
*Try not to screw up any settings please!*
FYI - I am not responsible for you messing with your Build Prop, screwing up your device, bricking it or Grumpy Cat coming to your front door, to call you a failure.
***Edit - in the example provided, ROM Toolbox Lite was used. ***

1. Because I like it.
2. Because it has a dedicated Number Row.
3. Because it has built in Emoji's.
Swiftkey is supposed to get #2 and #3 soon, until then...see #1 - #3.

This is very cool! Why would they hide this feature?
I also like the dedicated number row... Only complaint is that the space bar is too narrow (I also have that complaint for the swype keyboard).
I've been using Kii - space bar is wider, and it also allows you to backspace after autocorrect to revert to the original word (if you don't want it uncorrected). But I'd switch to stock full time if only the space bar were wider.

I'm looking for the value for the brightness slider in the notification drop down, it might be in the frameworks it self. Actually if you play with the xposed modules it will bring it back but the minute you slide it, it will crash the system UI

I had this problem too. I ended up using the GravityBar module in Xposed, which happens to have the feature to slide your finger across the statusbar itself to change brightness (under Statusbar tweaks, at the bottom). Works perfectly, no crashes. Not sure if everyone will find this to be an acceptable alternative, though.
Weird cause Swipe was enabled by default on the Verizon model. I actually had to go in and turn it off in the settings.
So funny how the G2 does all these great things yet every version this, this, and that disabled. It would be cool to find a rom that has everything enabled to let US pick and choose what features we want to use.
It's like the AT&T version doesn't have launcher themes. I'm not sure if they even have Keyboard, SMS, or launcher themes. Those are pretty buried too.

Yes it does. I've group messaged several times.
Except I use Hangouts now for primary messaging... although I found the stock SMS app more feature rich (and has the popup sms). Hangouts just has the AOSP feel to it, plus it keeps my actual hangout chats in one place = 1 less icon on the desktop.
The LG Stock Roms are pretty feature thick, its just hit and miss what each variant has enabled. AT&T disables the Launcher Themes?! Some disable Group Messaging?! Some have a QuickApp Stock Browser that is windowable (Verizon doesn't have this)?!!!! Some have FM Radios?!
Just gimme everything please!
