so ive been tinkering and messing around with my s4 and I must say,I absolutely love this phone! I couldnt ask for anything more. However, there is a slight tiny little detail that ive noticed that I wish samsung would fix/improve or perhaps maybe an app developer could modify, and that is the "gallery app"
I dunno why this hasnt been done before. I would have figured someone out there would have done this by now, I know it can be done. Its just the matter of doing it (im sure its hard work though), and im no developer or modder. Trust me if I was one, i would have done this by now.
Anyway, back to the gallery app, and I absolutely love it. I love the fact that you can edit/crop, add effects, filters, draw, etc. without having to download any additional 3rd party apps. You can do everything all within the gallery app. BUT, you cant add "text/captions" to any of the photos??? That is my only complaint however, I wouldnt say complaint... I look at it more as a tiny hiccup.
It doesnt really bother me, but I really do wish that you could have the ability to add text/captions to pictures. So now, I have a seperate photo editing app, just for adding captions. I do all my editing and filtering on my gallery app then I gotta open the other app just to add text/captions... *sigh*
Im kinda hoping that maybe an app developer or modder see's this post and gets the bright idea to incorporate and add that feature inside the gallery app... haha
Thats just my two cents, thanks for reading

Why not do everything with one app. I have 4 different photo editing apps on my phone I use different ones for different things.

Well... that would be awesome too... sucks that we gotta use download multiple apps jus to edit one picture

I don't know if anyone is working on that Hulu app but it kinda really sucks that it can't zoom automatically. So I made a Hulu application but with zoom functionality and a sort of lights out functionality.
any suggestions as to other things I can add to it?
EDIT: It is not finished, but some asked to see it so you can install it and try it out. It has some bugs atm but if you want to see where I am kind of going with it push it to your phone. Also note that this has the same limitations as the other Hulu application you need to have that custom edited flash install.
Start a video, then press the menu button and hit the Zoom button.
You'll probably notice that the background looks strange I was in the process of restyling it.
NOTE You need the modified flash file, you can get it from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752582
Can I be a tester?

Contains a modified flash file. So uninstall your flash, and then install that one.
problem i'm getting with hulu and other flash stuff is the sound is slowed way down
There's a fix for that. Look in themes and apps for stagefright fix. I let it play like that to scare the **** out of my son with my demon phone lol.

This app does not seem to work as good as the other one floating around. The video seems to stutter and stop a lot and I get the "the video is not optimized for mobile" which I dont get any of that on the other version. Also the video, when zoomed to fit the screen, is jerky where with the other app, its is 100% smooth.... Also at one point, the video pixelated and then the program shut off and i was back at the sense screen.....
as far as Zoom, on the other APP, I just use the pinch zoom and get it to fit the EVO screen as best I can...
New home shell app available on market
Type in search bar mx home. It will populate with 2 versions download the one that's ces2011.
I can't find anything with what you gave to search.
Care to share a video our something?
I looked at it but I didn't download it. Looks interesting. Anyone actually try it?
I tried it. With out the full version, it is too difficult to say if it will be any good.

Search for MXHome, one word. As for the actual mod, I agree with raylusk. Though I can say from the limited amount I saw, I hated it. I'll take another look when someone takes the plunge and buys it but until then I won't lose any sleep thinking about how it might work. I despise the single clock screen with set icons.
Tried it. Aside from the 3D clock, the app list is a bit more structured. If you tap the app icon or slide up from the bottom, it brings up an app list that can be sorted by name, date or category. It looks okay, but it seems pretty limited especially when compared to a shell like LauncherPro.
Tried it. Imo they are trying too hard. Its neat but over the top bloatware.

Ever since I got my phone, I started getting spam such as "you've won a $500 card to Best Buy, just answer a few questions" daily. These appears in my drop down list and not SMS/messaging.
What can I do?
Its called air push. There is a permanent opt out apparently in the market, but it has mixed results. For me it doesn't work for my brown it does
Not my brown, my bro damn auto correct
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Kkg is correct. Not sire if it comes included in the phone but from my experiences it happens after you install certain apps that include it.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
actually there is a newer SPAM bot system than air push, just last week i installed a new game and it came loaded with it, good thing is, all i had to do was uninstall that game to remove it
annoying as hell, sorry forgot the name of that game, it was some shoot them up game, just don't remember the tittle
just today i found yet another one, this one was caught by the antivirus software when i tried to install a fake temple run
Run the airpush detector and download an antivirus app. Its probably one of your apps. What did you download as soon as you got the phone? Was there something free or did you get one online with your cpu and install with the cord? You can fix this easily. If it really is something that came with your phone rooting and flashing should get the job done. I have gotten 2 weird messages but they originated from tmobile. Some attempt at raising revenues.

there is a app that will tell you what app is causing it airpush detector i think is what its called
I have gotten that spam crap when i open my browser
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I would definitely check through your apps and delete the ones that look "shady" to you. I can usually tell if a app looks shady or not just by the app itself, but it is sometimes hard to distinguish. Also, running a anti-virus app mentioned by the posts above me will help in flushing out suspicious looking apps.
Its an app. It happened to me with free mp3 downloads app lol

Some GOSMS themes now come with this. Sad ****ers have got to go.
If you install Lookout's Push Ad Detector and run it you'll know which apps you have installed have these ads. It'll also direct you to the way to opt-out if you can or you can uninstall the app.
Link to app --> https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.addetector
the opt out never works, is best to just uninstall the App/Game and give them bad reviews
The application stated above works great! I had been getting the green plus signs in my status bar that say I won something or free best buy gift cards etc... I found out that it was caused by Go sms themes, like the black& white theme and purple theme specifically. I hated getting these adds. It made me feel like my phone was unsafe. Do virus apps really do much, or do they just take up room? Thanks for the application and any more info! David

there is a fake ICS them for Go Launcher EX that also comes pre-loaded with SPAM bot
Thanks, it found MySettings. We will see in a day or so what happens.
just long press home key right after you the get AD. The offending app will be there. Uninstall

I thought this would be very useful for those of us who install apps with suggestive names, maybe even good for tricking friends saying you downloaded the new angry birds game before it even came out. Lol XD I do understand there is a reason there is a password lock for keeping people out your phones, but unfortunately there are those who demand access such as kids, siblings, parents, significant others.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Ummm I think you'd have to decompile the apk and edit it somewhere. If you want a quick fix you could just change the name with the launcher but if you want a long term then edit the apk.
