Thanks. I'm holding off on flashing another version of MIUI until MIUI ICS comes out
Yeah. I really like miui and I know you were on it for a while but I hate the keyboard lag that occurs frequently. As soon as I get home tomorrow I'm flashing decks 1.3 (gb) which is my go to aosp. I've been itching to see this superhuman battery life on tiamat 3.3.7. I've been on mikg for about 3 weeks and want something new haha
So ill pm you or comment here with the results of your zip
P.s. I'm also looking forward to ics miui

I flashed it to decks 1.3 aosp and it flashed fine and works flawlessly. Also the voicemail notification doesn't stick after listening like others gapps do (thank God). Thanks for the zip

That is excellent. I'm really glad it works

Can you recommend some roms/kernels?

I just ordered this phone, should be getting it sometime next week. BTW Im coming from the MyTouch 4g slide. If you recommend any roms or kernels please post the link. Thanks.

I recommend AOKP or CM9. Both are AOSP based with AOKP being closer to pure Android 4.0. That said, it helps to just try out what is available and see what works for you.
Darkside all the way...the fastest and best battery...I'm using his kernel with stock rom and i get 7100 benchmark

Is stock ROM official ICS update or GB?
I got this phone 2 months and bounced around between Darkside, stock ICS rooted, and AOKP. I've flashed Eugene's streamlined kernel to AOKP. And I think that's where I'm staying. I love the ui changes and inbuilt cpu control. And with Groove IP I can do without native wifi calling. My advice is to try them each for a few days, even ones I didn't mention like cm9, and decide what fits your needs.

AOKP build 40 + Eugene's kernel is working beautifully for me
Thanks guys

I'm still looking for a link to Eugene's kernel... Is there anyone that could post one? Thanks
Eugene's Kernel is here:

I personally run his kernel on CM9 alpha 9. The phone is way too fast.

I'm struggling to figure out how the aokp builds work. I'm on 6/23-03 but in "about this phone " I get "build 39". I'd like to be up to date and can't quite understand it. Do you get it? And where did you find build 40?

id suggest a full wipe and re-flash

That's because 0623-03 IS Build 39, assuming you are referring to Whitehawkx's AOKP. Hercules is officially supported by Team Kang now, so you can get Build 40 from here:

Kernel overclocking
I'm using Darkside TLLE4.V1 and the 3.0.8-perf-T989DTTLE4-CL579656 kernel. Way good. One question though: I come the cpu is not overclockable over 1.5 ? I thought this kernel was open to overclocking, I would like to boost it up to 1.8. Any ideas?
stay away from the Resurrection remix rom flashed it yesterday and it installed but when i rebooted my phone never came back on and it still wont do anything

i was using the darkside evolution 3 v7 and it works perfectly u can only overclock to 1712 i think

it looks like there are a bunch of darkside roms/kernels. which one are you using?
This may have been addressed before but for some reason I can not find an answer. I have tried AOKP and CM9 and I am having problems with the external SD card not being recognized by several apps (beyondpod is the main one). There is a setting for using the external only but then most of my games (EA titles) will not open. Is there anything that can be done? I am currently using Chicago rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602332 and it seems to work correctly but I would like to start using the CM9 nightly builds. Thanks in advance.

the best roms?

There are several great ROMs. Some have customized themes and others are just basic. Read the OP, not all ROMs are flashed the same.

For me either AOKP M6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1753351 or CM9 RC2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621678
Along with the corresponding Venom kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775075
Installed with TWRP 2.2.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768742
has been super rock solid.
thanks all
Cm9 rc2

Another vote for AOKP and the Venom kernel. Smooth, fast, and crazy battery life.

By far the best rom out there for you is the one you flash on your phone and makes you feel like never flashing another rom. Until you get to that rom I suggest you flash them all. Not that many of them so it should take you about a week to figure out what you like.... Happy Flashing
which is the correct way to install without problems CM9 if I want to put the ICS Stock??
Thanks playya

The whole fun about modding your phone is trying all that there is to offer. That's the only way you will find a rom that matches your needs

Depends, if you NEED wifi calling like some of us, you have limited choices.
Maybe a sticky that states the advantages and disadvantages of the popular roms would be helpful.

Wi-Fi Samsung epic 4g touch

I just recently installed android 4.0.4 cyanogen mod 9 on my phone and it runs like a champ except for one thing. i am having a problem with my wi-fi. it will not locate any wifi hot spots, i am a noobie to all of this so if i am in the wrong part of this forum, i apologize now, but any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

try a different aosp kernel.. when im on cm9 i use chris41g's aosp cwm6 kernel and dont have issues.. also can try the twrp kernel
Yes wrong location...but to answer your question, try one of the newer nightly builds. I was on the one from 7/24 and also 7/29 and they worked fine. Also use the chris41g aosp kernel.

Unfortunately I can only post once every 5 mins and I messed up when I posted thread
AT&T SGS 3 running Team baked black bean 5
Any kernel for aosp ROM. Unless your ROM is based off the leak job. But if I checked correctly baked is aosp. So you can flash kt747, faux123 kernel, cm10 kernel and the other one I don't remember.
You will have to try them to see which works better on your phone. Not all phones are the same.

Thank you for posting a reply so fast. I'm really digging this site. I was on an iphone 4 jailbroken before I bought my gf a gs3. once I saw what it could do I got one right away. Now that I'm getting into this rooting thing it's starting to make a whole lot of sense, how it all comes together, everyone working together to figure things out.
Thanks again
Also, if I'm running ktoonsez's d2att jb 10.3.2012c am I already using kt747? Seems like I would be. I only asked about "sammy" kernel because ktoonsez posted about it working better.

"It comes with the stock d2att kernel, I found out earlier while we were getting things debugged that my Sammy one works too and gets better battery life the my AOSP one. Last night, I had it idle with everything on including gps, and lost NOT even 1 % "
