Hi, I have trouble with loading site elements from media.xda-developers.com, all other part of the website loaded ok, but the css and buttons is from that server not loading at all, it stripped all the style off and I can not use the desktop site now.
I'm from vietnam, using 3 difference ISPs, both phone and laptop, still can not load (using xda app right now)
If anyone have same problem or know what happened, please respond.
Thanks.
I think we have the same issue. The desktop site is not working for me at all. I am also in Vietnam for work. I tired using my VPN service with a California IP thinking it might be the stupid censors or whatever but it still won't load for me.
“Bye book!"
Me too,
Im Vietnamese, living in Hanoi. Have just tried with more than 2 ISP here.
The Portal works well. But the forums, it doesn't display CSS and images.
Now, using the Opera Turbo ( a kind of proxy services provided by Opera ), it works well.
Please review our case. Thanks and best regards.

I'm currently using Ultrasurf to load media from xda, work great so far, too lazy to setup a squid proxy just for this temporary (hope so).
And, dont have to worry about those ip information, not like anyone will hack me for my hard drive full of .psd files
We can work with this.

I need to present a Winmobile Twitter client, and have stumbled over PockeTwit http://code.google.com/p/pocketwit/.
But how does one control it on the HD? There is no menu on the twits screen. FYI I read that with 5-minute updates set it generates around 5MB of mobile traffic per day.
Recommendations for any other client?
Update: Ah, I got it - the twits list needs to be finger dragged to left or right, and reveals the menu items. Of course, its a touch device

Hey mate, not sure if this is the sort of thing you are looking for, i use it, let me know if its of any help.

twitter
Hello. I searched for a good twitter client for a while now but not found a client that runs smoothly. pocketwit works best of them I found, but im not satisfied with it. Is there anyone who found something better?
I used to use Pockettwit - loved the interface, found it a joy to use - but bloated
I use cetwit
Code:
http://www.kosertech.com/blog/?p=346
Works well on the HD, set the dpi to 67 under themes/notifications and activate avatars!

I use cetwit to. but its not so fingerfriendly....
having issues with Cetwit - have moved along to 'tiny twitter'
pocketwit seems like the best twitter of all on windows mobile right now. i tried tinytwitter but it doesn't update properly
Pockettwit is great. A flip to the left and you have lots of menu, a flip to the right, even more options. Great for twittering, and the bugs are being worked out as we speak.
New addition, now in Beta (free during beta):

using twikini also, seems solid and finger friendly
tried twickini - not impressed - even in small font the text for each twitter goes off screen so you have to choose that specific twitter to read the full text.
Also, fastest update setting is every 5mins, which doesnt feel anything like quick enough.
on the plus side, it loads quickly and doesnt appear to use much memory. i'll be sticking with pockettwit though.
List keeps growing, here's a nice home plugin for WM: TwitToday - twit directly from your home screen or Secondtoday (if you use no other GUI).
http://dalelane.co.uk/page.php?id=1047
+1 to Twikini. Just does what it says in the tin ! Perfect for me
and another for twikini. written in c it seems much more responsive and an update is out in the next couple of days.
Wow. Listen. I have bought a brand new HTC Touch HD, which I'm starting to like.... But 2 major problems:
1) ActiveSync suddenly wasn't working anymore.
2) I couldn't open my attachments when receiving e-mails.
3) Twikini wasn't updating properly anmore.
Alright, point 3 is an easy fix:
After uninstalling Twikini, point 1 and 2 are both resolved!
How sick is that? Wow. Hate Twikini from now on (it was the latest version). Alright, i know what Beta means, but hey, don't mess with my other applications!
Did you try a hard reset before start using the device?
Twikini runs well on my numerous times flashed TouchHD and Treo Pro.
Giving feedback to developer would give better results rather than just hate an application while the problem lays probably somewhere else
pocket twit
i go with pocketwit as twikini doesn't have a search feature. Also you have to pay for twikini yes i know its dirt cheap, but they aint having my cc details.
However since flashing the latest energy 6.5 rom pocke twit will not work. Anybody know any solutions?
Twikini as well for me.
PocketTwit is ok but a bit heavy in terms of footprint. TinyTwitter is good but it doesn't close the process when the app is closed which is painful. Bit annoying..twikini is my shout!
Twikini....
Hi guys,
Ive been using Twikini for a while now, and have tried others.
I highly recomend this app, and is very easy to use.
I'm having trouble connecting to the forums at home. I have determined that it's my modern or ISP that is having problems but others on the same ISP can access the site just fine. I deleted the cookies, reset the modem, restart the computer but nothing works.

yeah, forum sometimes is down or unreachable from some places.
Nope I don't use any blocking software. I can access the forums right now on my phone using 3G but I can't on any computer at home.

When you can't access the Forums, can you try and run a traceroute (tracert on windows) to forum.xda-developers.com? and then please post the results here.
Heres a quickie tutorial for Windows users:

I take it you can access it sometimes since your able to make this post? You can save the text in a file and then post it here or PM me when you can. Thanks!
Edit: Or maybe your posting through your wireless carrier? If thats the case, kindly save the text from the traceroute on your computer and put it on your phone. Copy and paste that into the XDA App and post it. Hope that helps.
I'm posting via 3g and not wifi. How can I copy and paste the trace route?
Basically it times out...
Sent from my Samsung i896 using XDA App
How about using the camera on your phone to take a picture of the DOS prompt showing the traceroute?
You can also just copy and paste the traceroute to www.pastebin.com (on your computer) and then post the link to it from your phone.
Ah I didn't know you can take pictures and then upload them using the app. I'll do that when I get home and then post it as a new post.

Thanks for providing that. Unfortunately it does look like the problem is at your ISP. Your packets (data) don't get anywhere close to XDA Forum servers and immediately stops at your ISP (and before they even leave the ISP).
The Forums are Portal are hosted on separate networks which does explain why your able to use the Portal. Unfortunately theres nothing we can really do on our end, I will contact our network provider and have them make sure it is not anything on their end, however it is very very unlikely; please PM me with your home IP address and I'll have them take a look.

Accessing XDA-Forums atm on my laptop via tethering, which is the same network as my ISP (both Rogers). I seriously got no idea what's going on.
I have yet to get a reply from the ticket I opened with Rogers technical support, but chances are they'll say it's not their problem just like the last time I had a problem.

Basically from our side, we are able to send packets (data) to the Rogers network without any issue but it does appear the packet gets lost once its inside Rogers' network. Please let us know if you hear back from Rogers, we're definitely interested in knowing if this affects other Rogers users. Thanks again!
I haven't heard from Rogers yet, but I was out the whole day.
Anyways I AM BACK! Nothing's changed too.

We’ve all seen old videos of people hacking various devices so they could use them in ways never meant to be used. While I can’t teach you how to wire your PS2 controller to drive your car, I can tell you that using your Wiimote to play Yongzh’s famous emulators. And believe it or not it’s incredibly simple. So, you’ve gotten Yongzh’s famous emulators for free and you want to really game. You have a phone without a physical keyboard and you’re sick of just playing RPGs. The virtual keyboard just doesn’t do Super Mario 64 justice, does it? Well, welcome in Bluez IME: The tool that’ll redo how you play emulators on your phone.
Step 1: Download Bluez IME from the Market. Sadly, the app only is confirmed to work with the following devices:
* HTC Desire 2.2
* HTC Desire 2.3.1 Oxygen
* HTC Evo
* HTC HD
* Samsung Captivate
* Samsung Galaxy S
If you don’t have one of those devices, try it out anyway. It may work. If not, email the dev and see if you can convince him to support your device.
Step 2: Go into your settings menu, select language and keyboard, and activate Bluez IME.
Step 3: Go into Bluez IME settings and activate Bluetooth. In the Select device driver menu, select Wiimote. Click Select Device and press scan. While it is scanning hit the sync button on your Wiimote (that red button right next to the batteries)
Step 4: Use the Select IME command in the settings to select Bluez as your keyboard. You may need to redo the syncing in step 3.
At this point, your phone should send you a message saying that a device as been connected. If not, redo step 3 and make sure all of the settings are correct.
You’ve got it connected now, you’re almost there!
Step 5: Go into your favorite emulator, and go to menu>settings>other settings. Make sure “Use input method” is checked. You can now go into your Input Settings and map the keys anyway you want! Enjoy your playing!
I don't even own a wii but if someone confirms this works I'm buying a wiimote

Didn't work for me. I tried every option w/ gameboid.
Btw I tried a wiimote. It found the wiimote, connected to it, but then gave me a connection refused error. this app is definitely the closest to using a wiimote on galaxy s.

Man I wish we could use ps3 controllers... now that would be bomb.
cd's or tapes?
This didn't work on the EVO either until CM6... so maybe when we see CM7? Someone could give the current build a try. Worth a shot.
Definitely watching to see how this goes. Anyone emailed the dev who has downloaded this?

http://code.google.com/p/android-bluez-ime/issues/detail?id=7
from what I understand it's a kernel thing..
does this mean it can be fixed with a custom kernel?
if so, would it work with a custom kernel on a TouchWiz or Sense ROM?
Comment 46 by project member [email protected], Jun 6, 2011
Yes, that is my understanding, a custom ROM will enable L2CAP and thus this. As I understand it, Sense and TouchWiz are "just" homescreens + some bundled apps. But since HTC/Samsung own these, it may be hard to get/make a custom ROM with Sense/TouchWiz.
Comment 47 by [email protected], Jun 10 (3 days ago)
I'll get specifics for you later on, but from when I tested it, the official Classics Controller did not function. Oddly enough, a PS2>Classics Controller adapter I have that fails to register on another Wiimote IME did take button inputs, but the wrong physical buttons were pressing the wrong virtual buttons. I'll get a more exact mapping typed up to specify.
Comment 48 by project member [email protected], Jun 12 (2 days ago)
@ChicoK: Could you post me a Logcat showing what happens when you connect the classic controller? Are you using the MotionPlus plugin?
Comment 51 by [email protected], Yesterday (27 hours ago)
Works fine for me exept one big bug. When you try to change mapping for Left thumbstick left (nunchuck) it automatically changes the mapping for Button A (remote) thus making either button or thumbstick unusable. I dont think this even requires a wiimote to test, so should not probably be a problem to fix
P.S. Both buttons do actually work, they only map as one.
Comment 52 by [email protected], Yesterday (26 hours ago)
Looking at the source. They definately have the same id.
svn/trunk/BluezIME/src/com/hexad/bluezime/WiimoteReader.java
Line 67 "KeyEvent.KEYCODE_A, //Byte 1, bit 3"
and
Line 121 along with line 147 "KeyEvent.KEYCODE_A, //Classic, Left stick left"
Comment 53 by project member [email protected], Today (16 hours ago)
Oops, there are too many keys
Attached is a debug version which has the left-thumbstick-left reassigned to Q.
I will put it on Market shortly.

Also, here's an update on the app:
I will not have a chance to work on this again for a few more days. As it stands now, a user can search forums, select a forum, view individual forums (like subforums) within a forum, and view topics within each forum. Forums stats are also viewable, and the app saves a history on which forums you have gone to.
While it may not seem like a lot, these functions, combined with designing the UI, also combined with figuring out how the Tapatalk service works and building a base to connect to various parts really has taken a lot of time. While it can get very frusterating at times, I am still working hard on it and hope to release a beta in the next couple of weeks. I'm very sorry it's so far away, I just underestimated the difficulty of dealing with the Tapatalk service.
To developers: The Tapatalk API uses XML-RPC, which in my opinion, is ridiculous. A lot of things are base64 encoded and I read that XML-RPC is 4x heavier than XML, let alone JSON. Also, with XML-RPC, the response model cannot be serialized very easily. I've developed a system to do so but takes a lot of work to do for each new data type.
Basically, the Tapatalk API is more complex and harder to work with (at least to me) than anything else I've developed an app for, including Box.net, Pastebin.com, sports scores apps, RSS feeds, Edmunds.com, and AudioGalaxy.com.
Thanks to everyone who signed up, even though it may end up being a few weeks in advance.
have sent you PM.

Thanks for signing up, you're now a beta tester.
New Demo Video Available
I know, it isn't the prettiest, or fastest, but I've been working hard and it's time for me to show you a video of ForumTalk in action.
A few things to point out:
I am not really asking for feedback based on this video yet
The choppiness is because of the emulator, it runs much better on my Lumia 900
I know XDA-Developers is in my recent forums list 4 times...
The UI needs work
This is only to show you what you signed up to test
I know it needs a lot of work - it's not even close to beta quality yet
Find the video here: http://youtu.be/fAUwTK00DEI
Thank you.
Seems far more responsive than BEP, so kudos there
I'm still waiting for the beta link to be active, can't wait though!
Hello XDA, forgive me if I posted this thread in a wrong section. I didnt see any similar threads regarding my problem or a Help and Troubleshooting section. So Ive got this teeny tiny problem, hopefully its okay.
Im not so new here, but lately, started like 2 weeks ago(?), the XDA forum site (http://forum.xda-developers.com/) on my PC, my phone, my tablet, looks like this.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
##################################################################################################
Im sure its not my browser(tried IE and Firefox), nor my internet(tried 3 dif places/isp). Tried clearing cache, no luck. I can hardly read well from the threads. Or is XDA forum having problems and/or maintenance or something?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Forum site problem
Try to refresh.
And this doesn't happen to me.
Sorry for my bad English.
Sent from my Nexus 4.
Try changing the site theme at the very bottom left of the page. I doubt it will help but it will at least narrow down the problem.

Wow, that worked great. Im not sure why it was set to XDA 2013 beta. Using XDA 2010 now. Whew. :victory:
Anyway thanks for the reply people.
P.S. you could delete this thread unless its for future reference :highfive:

Glad that worked, but not sure what the issue was. Many people (myself included) use the 2013 theme and it works fine. Any suggestion I have is blown out of the water by the fact you've seen the same issue on multiple browsers and PCs.
Anyway, it's worth leaving in case anyone stumbles across this with the same issue

Hmm.. choices were XDA Classic, 2010, 2013 Beta, 2013 Beta 1024... Just for extra info, the bold one is the broken one. lol. Using 2013-1024 now. Anyway thanks again. :highfive:
This is related to our CDN. I've purged the cache there, can anyone let me know if this now works for them? I've been hearing about occasional problems over the last few days from the Philippines and now China, so it seems to be focused on their edge(s) in Asia.
If it isn't working for you, they could really use the HTTP Response headers from the request. The url to check on is: http://cdn.media.xda-developers.com/clientscript/2013.min.js
I've been having the same problem for the past few days. Also from the Philippines and switching to the XDA 2013 Beta - 1024 theme has also fixed it for me. I'm not sure what to do with the link for getting the HTTP response header though.
Same problem here. The problems started some time last year. I filed a bugzilla bug for this, but no one is actively investigating it. The problem then went away in January (if I remember correctly) and reocurred yesterday. Selecting XDA 2013 - 1024 fixes it. A copy of the content of the site the .js-link produces is on pastebin (expires in one month).
Please look into this - it's annoying the crap out of me! :silly:
I started seeing this same issue today. it only seems to happen with the 2013 beta theme, I switched to the 2013 beta 1024 theme and it works just fine.
I'm located in the UK if that's of any help..
Same problem here; the 'XDA 2013 Beta' theme appears to be broken but switching to 'XDA 2013 Beta -1024' fixes it.
I'm in the UK if it's relevant, maybe a CDN issue?
Same problem here in germany with 2013 beta.
same here. Italy. it has been looking weird for a few days. on 1024 beta now.
Same problem in Germany from my University's connection regardless of browser used. App and other themes work fine.
Can someone troubleshoot this error by looking at the source of the html and checking to see if they can load the CSS file from their location? This looks like it is a CSS problem, but for the few people I have checked with they said they were able to view the CSS. It seems like some sort of issue with our CDN provider but they said they can't see any problems.

Using Chrome (the browser I've been using to access XDA forums for months), I see my request for http://cdn.media.xda-developers.com/css/2013.min.css is answered with a 304 (not modified) status code and 0 bytes of content are returned. If I clear my cache and repeat, I get a 200 (OK) response but still 0 bytes of content are returned.
Same results with wget.
The IE specific CSS file http://cdn.media.xda-developers.com/css/2013/ie.css works fine. Like the main CSS file, it's answered with a 304 status (when cached by my browser) and 200 status after clearing my cache, but the CSS content is returned successfully.
The CDN server cdn.media.xda-developers.com resolves to 68.232.35.229 for me here (UK broadband connection). Maybe that specific mirror has a 0 bytes file?

Similar result here: http://cdn.media.xda-developers.com/css/2013.min.css resolves for me but is empty. http://cdn.media.xda-developers.com/css/2013.1024.min.css resolves and is fine. The same is true for http://cdn.media.xda-developers.com/css/2013/ie.css (resolves, seems OK).

+1, from Germany
Hi, good with all themes except "2013 beta".
2013 beta 1024 is ok.
