Is there a seperate WM6 VOIP cab available somewhere? I don't see the suggested files, so I assume that I don't have it on my WWE WM6 rom.

Well, as you may have noticed I've found those threads, but I saw that the most of the thread is regarding HERMES.
I was wondering if anyone with an Artemis has been able to turn on VOIP (native voip)
I did manage to install the package as mentioned in the threads above, as well as put in the right config files. Also, the "Internet Calling: Available" today plugin is correctly displayed. However, I cannot switch dial pads and I don't get the correct status (connected).
Same problem here
Setup was done with Sip Config Tool 2.0.1
The plugin is configured : "Always, if available"
When connected by wlan or activesync the plugin displays : "Kein Empfang"
Disconnected from network displays : "Available"
Hopefully someone can help me
Guys I've got it working just fine on an xda orbit. There does seem to be a little bug though and that is when it's says "Searching" and "Available" on the today screen. Available actually means searching and searching means available
When searching is displayed, click on it in the today screen and you might notice a slight change in the signal which means it has switched to voip rather than gsm. Go to the phone screen and you'll see that the network has changed to your voip provider and any call you make will be routed through them.
I have downloaded sjphone yesterday and configured it to use my sip voip provider and it works brilliantly. The sound quality in sjphone is absolutely brilliant compared to the native voip, you should try it.
Finally it's working...
I tried to deinstall the plugin and after prompting an error it worked
The homescreen plug signals "searching" but as you said before it means "availabe". There are still a couple of things:
1) no incomming calls... i can't find the stun settings
2) +4930xxxxxx format doesn't work, i've to type 030xxxx
3) doesn't work after standby
Which version of sjphone are you using? There seems to be nothing available for wm 6
Hi BlueD,
I'm glad it's working for you. I tested incoming calls and that worked nicely as well without configuring any stun. The voip I used were sipgate and callcentric.
There's a post somewhere on one of the big voip threads and the guys managed to customize the dialing plans so that you can dial without using the international format. Do a quick search on voip dialing plan and you should find it somewhere.
Well obviously it doesn't cause the wifi disconnects, hence making it only useful for dialing out rather than receiving calls, except ofcourse if you want to leave the device on all the time, but that's not a very feasible solution.
The sjphone I downloaded was the one for v.1.60.303c Pocket PC 2003SE, it works nicely with excellent call quality. I also think you don't really need native voip capabilities to run that, which makes me think we could have had this on WM5 hmmm...
OK.. just fyi - i got a little bit more success in using the native VOIP solution. I had to flash from the WWE 6 to the BnB 2 ROM, then install the VOIP.cab and SipConfigTool. Now i can receive calls, but cannot place any... not sure why. Also, when i receive a call the sound is CRAP.. probably some codec issue here.

Yep I did. I got this confirmed by testing it with a softphone on my PC, which works great (same voip provider etc).
All,
I just upgraded to a new phone and WM6 and have the issue that when people try to call me, the mobile is aperently not on and they get my voice mail. This while my phone is on.
I even tested it myself with the phone lying next to me, and on, and I got the voice mail. strange thing is I can call out perfectly, so it apperently doesn't have anything to do with the strength of the connection.
Also I tested my sim in a different phone (samsung, no windows mobile) and there I can reach it perfectly. chenged back to the p3300, and agian voice mail.....
Anybody have this as well? and know how to solve it or at least what to trouble shoot?
Patrick
I am running the leatest Artemis Touch 2.1 WM6 WWE ROM, full version of meschele.
It sounds like all your call are setted to forward to voicemail.
You better try to go to the phone settings/options goto tab "Services" and there "Get Settings" of the "Call forward" option and take a look.

Well, actually, it doesn't happen always. I do sometimes get a call on the mobile. I did check and call forwarding is not set standard to the voicemail, only when the phone can not be reached or when it is off.
Anything else?

The reason for this thread is to help people get Skype working to its fullest extent and resolve some of the issues. The ultimate objective is to allow those with Skype subscriptions to get unlimited anytime calling across North America if they pay the $2.95 / month for the Skype plan and have unlimited data...
Download Skype 3.0 for Windows Phones here:
http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windowsmobile/
It installs fine and theoretically works great, however, there are a number of issues:
1. Skype automatically routes all audio to the speakerphone.
To route the audio to the earpieces, install audioRoute from Teksoft:
http://teksoftco.com/storage/download.php?product=audioroute_ppc
This product is discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=495166
It essentially installs an icon in your taskbar that loads when the phone starts up. Once you open Skype, you click the icon, select the first icon, which is the earpiece, and then all audio will get routed to the earpiece when using Skype.
To route the audio to a Bluetooth headset, then install A2DP toggle from Teksoft:
http://teksoftco.com/storage/download.php?product=a2dptoggle
This program should theoretically allow you to select the Bluetooth headset when Skype is loaded. It should theoretically be able to be loaded concurrently with audioRoute. I have not tested it fully.
2. Skype will not work unless connected to a wifi connection
I had tested Skype and thought it worked flawlessly until someone with an iPhone mentioned that he had to install some sort of program to "trick" Skype into thinking it was connected to a Wifi. I believe that this is an issue with the way Microsoft has designed Windows Mobile, but is probably intential to prevent competition for telecommunication company voice packages. This issue supposedly does not exist with Windows Mobile clients.
Just ensure that ActivSync/Wifi/Mobile is enabled under the Connection settings.
3. Skype Mobile does not support video calling
I'm not sure if this is a software issue or just something that can be hacked. I see no reason why this functionality would be disabled in the Mobile version of Skype... any insight would be appreciated.
Would love it if anyone else is experiencing problem 2 as well... I want to find out if it's isolated to my handset... or even to just my carrier.

No problem here on a Vodafone TP2. Skype uses the 3G connection fine.
You know that htere's a setting that tells Skype what connection(s) to use? It defaults to "Use ActiveSync/Wifi" but can be changed to "Use ActiveSync/Wifi/Mobile"
It was working for me I think
see the message below
It was working for me I think
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question, but I have made calls through Skype on my TyTN II using the Australian Three 3G network. Called my wife on her mobile in Shanghai with no problems. Well, the connection was pretty horrible (I think it's a bit hard work for both the phone and the network) but it connected fine for as long as I wanted.
As tjobbins said, in the Connection Method settings, I can "Use ActiveSync/WiFi" or "Use ActiveSync/WiFi/Mobile"... so if I'm overseas, I leave it on the first one; in Australia on the second one.

Interesting... I think my settings might have changed because I tested it again just now and it worked!
Thanks all!
I'm interested in how this works. I own the Titan at the moment and Skype only works over Wifi. Do you know if Skype plans on fixing the problem with calls only being heard from speaker phone? Any update on video calling?
off-topic question here, does anyone know if the titan operates on 3G? (i have sprint)

We can only hope. Skype have their forums and I saw a number of posts complaining about those missing features. I guess we should add our voices, though I would expect it will take a while for it to be fixed; the current version for Windows Mobile, Skype 3, was released fairly recently.
One alternative to look at is Fring. It supports better audio routing, i.e. calls are not only on speakerphone - they can come through the normal phone earpiece, or a bluetooth headset. Don't think it does video. As well as Skype, it also supports MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, AIM and others, so it's a good all-in-one client.
However on the TP2 Fring does currently have one quite annoying issue - it doesn't seem to work on Wifi. It's fine on mobile/3G connections, but on Wifi it won't list access points or connect. This is reported on their forums but no sign of a fix yet. Actually I did once get it connect to WiFi, but I don't really know how and haven't been able to repeat it.
Oh I just remembered the other huge problem with Skype for Windows Mobile - it doesn't list your phone contacts!
Bloody useless when you want to make a Skype Out call, and you end up having to go into the contact record, copy their number, and then paste it into Skype. Really daft.
Fring does list your contacts, and you can use it for Skype Out as well as Fring's own paid-for outbound dialling system.
I have another problem: NO notifications! So i don't know if someone chats or phone me! It's useless in that way!

Thanks for the suggestion. I want to make sure that I'm using only data-only when making calls, since I have unlimited data... and limited daytime voice minutes.
I installed fring, and it doesn't show the TP2 as a supported device. When I launched it, it kept asking me to find a WLAN... except nothing shows up on the list! Wifi is enabled AND data is enabled, and it keeps showing Not Available...
Has it worked on your TP2?

Nope. See my post before the one you quoted! It doesn't work on WiFi on the TP2 at the moment - and also on some other WM devices I think.
Works great on 3G and ActiveSync, just doesn't work on WiFi.
Except.. once for me it did. It suddenly connected and I don't know how or why. Haven't managed to repeat it yet though. But maybe there's a workaround lying in there waiting to be (re) discovered

No no - I had wifi disabled and just tried to use regular data connection... but it couldn't find the connection for some reason.
Hate to bump an old thread... but I finally got Fring working on my TP2 (latest version), but SkypeOut calls don't actually direct to the Earpiece... I don't hear anything. Loudspeaker works fine.
Hi guys, I have a strange problem.
Sometimes when I try to call someone, the phone cuts off the connection right before it should vibrate to signal that the phone was answered. This means I can hear the other side picking the phone up, but I hear like "H" (sharp, short) when they try to say "hello". No matter whether I have phone by my ear or laying on the table, sometimes it cuts off, other times it doesn't. When I make the call again, it works.
This started to happening to me since I've updated my sw version to 1.21, when it was 1.15, it worked like a charm. For the last 4 days I tried to make 3 calls, every one of them was cut out and worked on the second try.
Anyone has the same problem/knows the solution?
Thank you very much, It's annoying as hell since every call costs me twice
EDIT: I'm using stock ROM, updated with OTA, no root

Sorry for my English, I'm Czech.
Really? No one?
desire drops calls after a few seconds
Hi!
I've the same problem, since today - very annoying. All start with a call from a friend and after I said "hello" the call ends, but network connection was fine (4 bars). After that I tried to call him back 10 times, every time the same thing - call drops after 1-3 seconds.
A Reboot solved the problem for one time, next call same issue. Tried my sim in the HTC Wildfire of my colleague - same network, everything is fine.
Now I started to uninstall all Taskkiller and other apps i recently added - no change. After 30 min try and error I realised that if I turn of the "Mobile Internet" and therefore the 3g connection, it works better.
anyone have a clue what this could cause?
Joint the club.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712030
Mine does exactly the same thing... first of all I thought it was the phone... returned it... new phone, different sim.... same problem.
Geeba have you tried to turn off "mobile internet"?
After my problems yesterday I turned it off and since that no call was dropped!!
Maybe its some sort of concurrent use of 3g Network and the data threads kill the call ... actually I'm no expert in Mobile Networks.
I'm looking forward to Froyo and hope to get rid of the probs.
Minos - yes I have turned off the 3g - but I then have internet connection problems... pretty pointless having a smart phone that has no internet access..
But yes it does help... the Desire I think should be able to monitor the two signals and switch between them accordingly .... but it doesn't. my Mrs has the Hero... it doesn't suffer this problem so personally I think its a problem with the desire.... I'm going to wait till Froyo then if its no better there will be a nice unbranded black Desire gracing ebay!
had the same issue for a few days then i uninstalled juice defender and i havnt had a single dropped call after
I have had the same issue. And then I have read somewhere here what to do.
You must first enter the phone's debug menu: *#*#4636#*#*
Then Choose "Phone Info", scroll down to" Set preferred network type" and set this to GSM auto (PRL). For me it solved all the call drop problem. As you are on different network maybe some other setting will work for you but it might worth to take a try with it.
I am not exactly sure what this sets. One thing is sure I still have 3G and HSUPA connection - and all type of connection works like charm. So nothing changed just no more call drops since then.
benoke: Thanks for your idea, actually my Desire is now beying hospitalized as it had dust under the screen, anyway I reported dropping calls as an issue too while returning in warranty so we'll see what happens
i sent a support question to htc and got that answer:
"Thank you for contacting HTC. In regards to your question, I can help you with that. It does indeed sound like a hardware fault, I would be grateful if you would call our tech-suooprt team and let our agents arrange the return / repair of this device for you. If you could just call 0845 890 0079, we can arrange the collection. I trust that this resolves your query. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if required."
But I don't think its an HW issue.
@benoke: the GSM auto setting worked - four 1h now.
Minos: it is good to hear that it might work for you too. I have recommended it to some of my friends and they all say it works for them.. so it really seems like solution...
Try the new version 5.09x radio in the android development in desire forum to see if that miight help
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Haven't found a way to solve this issue yet. They told me at the service station that this is unrepairable issue occuring only with some SIM cards and that they would give me a refund.
I'm buying HTC Desire HD when it is available...
Hello everybody,
i have some Problems with my Galaxy Nexus GSM and Voice over IP. When i use Stock-ROM it works Perfectly. But every Custom-ROM have problems with it. When i get a call i can't hear the opposite. But he could hear me perfectly.
I use the voip support into the phone app from ICS. But also other apps don't work 'sipgate, sipdroid'
I except problems with my firewall because on stock it is working and on pc, too.
Now my question is, anybody else got problems like this?

I've had success with the integrated SIP client, but it has too many quirks and Verizon's network periodically blocks SIP by interfering with the Authorization headers (they strip them).
The problem is that it seems the Android SIP client interop testing was done against an Asterisk system and is very half-baked. It's like they got it working with one IP-PBX in the lab and figured it was good enough for wide use.
Regardless, that's not your question...
One-way audio is typically a firewall or NAT issue of some sort. What VoIP provider are you using? Is this your own IP-PBX system you're running at home? I do VoIP professionally so I can help.
I'm using sipgate it is an free provider here in Germany. If this is an Firewall/NAT problem my question is why it works with stock rom and pc and not with custom-Rom? It is confusing.
Im realy no expert in voip, my scheme is to have an landline number into my phone when i am at home. So i could receive calls on an landline. Because there are flatrates for landline but not for mobile here. The VoIP only must work over WLAN not with 3g.
thanks for the trouble
regards
I wish I could help more... I know these phones are finicky at times and do odd behavior. My wife's phone recently started to forget that it has an earpiece and microphone. Then, out of nowhere, it remembered that it did, but forgot it can vibrate. All of this survived multiple re-flashes, wipes, different ROMs... This phone is borderline terrible.
Are the ROMs you are working with all AOSP? 4.0.4? What version is the stock ROM? As a US user on a CDMA network, my ROM choices a very limited.
If you're comfortable with Wireshark, a perfect way to test thing would be packet captures. Compare the SIP headers between a working ROM and a failing ROM. If you find a real problem, you could get credit for a fix.
