The glossy finish is up to the feedback they receive. I can almost guarantee people will say they prefer the matt finish of the 800.

I'm probably one of the only ones, but this sounds like it would be perfect for me... if only it had a portrait QWERTY (slider I assume) keyboard.
Is it too much to ask for someone other than Dell to make one?
The glossy finish might mean a white version like the n9. They just need to include all of the n9 features but with a bigger screen and better camera.
I just upgraded my hd7 to 32gb but would buy this still but would prefer a 64gb version. If they can do it for the n9 they can do it for this one.

Hope this rumor is true. I wanted to purchase Lumia 800, but 3.7" screen seemed too small. 4.3" screen with the same body would be awesome!!
If true its my next device and carrier. In my area Tmobile is junk and att is way better. I prefer the matte finish. From owning the dvp, I have learned that this physical keyboard is useless. Because I early ever use it.

for me it depends..
I use my quantum keyboard all the time, though with a screen that large I could definitely cope without it.
If this comes to Canada it is my next phone for sure.
C'mon TELUS, bring in something worthwhile..
I have a question about these Nokia Lumia devices. Do the Lumia devices offer a LED charge light or LED notification light? I miss this on my DVP and was wondering if it will be on these devices, havent seen any so im suspecting not.
If its true this has LTE - Verizon I'm coming back!!!
Still doesn't sound like enough differentiation. It might stand out design-wise but it sounds hardly worth the wait. Now, if they brought an N8 class camera and Tango brings better camera options: I'd wait in line. For now, the Samsung Focus S brings the same CPU and 4.3" AMOLED+ which is better than March.
AT&T gets the Titan, TMO gets the Radar.
AT&T gets the Nokia 900, TMO gets the Nokia 710.
It appears that my HD7 will continue to soldier on. It dissappoints me after TMO's relationship with mega-screen Windows phones: HD2>HD7>??? Where's the successor?
I actually went and played with a Radar and it was a nice phone. It is simply not worth giving up the extra screen space.

Gonna wait for the WP8 devices. I'm still VERY happy with my original Focus, especially following the Mango update, so I won't waste my upgrade on a "mid generation" device, which is really what every single one of the new WP7.5 models are.
What else could they possibly offer that the lumia 900 can't be upgraded to wp8. Are you telling me it can't be upgraded to wp8
Sent from my Venue Pro using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Perhaps the Nokia Ace will have some NFC features built in. I've been reading that MS have recently clarified that WP7.5 does not have ny NFC capability (regardless of OEMs including the tech in their handsets), but they are working on it for 2012 as requested by Samsung and Nokia.
I'd like to see NFC for features like bump to pair with bluetooth speakers, bump to pair with car kits, and of course for electronic payments.
http://wmpoweruser.com/nokia-lumia-900-black-and-cyan-press-shots-wow/ the phone looks nice.
Pretty amazing they got this level of phone together since this relationship is less than a year old...I can only imagine what they will bring to the table with windows phone 8 when it's released at the end of the year...
I want this device but I want the red one. Im thinking should I wait for Apollo devices or get this. I will be getting another device in 2013 so I think I will get this.
The road is not so easy for these guys......two giants......Google's Android and Apple's iPhone are blocking the road........ http://mirolta.com/2012/01/10/nokia-announces-lumia-900-a-lte-windows-phone-is-coming-to-u-s/
it is quite a device
Has there been any news if this is going to be an international device?
I'm due an upgrade here in the UK soon and this would be my device of choice if possible... I'd feel a little cheated if I only had the 800 option open to me

Nokia has officially announced the Lumia 900, the third handset in its Windows Phone 7-powered series – inhabited by the Lumia 800 and 710. It says the phone is designed specifically for the North American buyer, and is an LTE 4G phone headed exclusively to the US AT&T network. Not much use for us UK folk, then.
That the Lumia 900 is a US-only LTE device makes us sad pandas, but we're sure it won't be too long until an iteration upon this design appears in other areas of Europe, including the UK.
Ah well :/
http://www.nokia.com/us-en/products/phone/lumia900/
I'm looking forward to see this Device
Even in US this would be available only after a few months so I dont think we can expect something in UK for 3 - 4 months.
Think I might have have to go for the 800 after all cant hold out much longer.
Honestly, I'm not too impressed. I was hoping for a larger camera sensor than what's on the Lumia 800, preferably something like the N8. Plus, at least at launch it's limited to 16GB storage.
if you notice the back of the phone is only carl ziess branding. They are really empathizes the camera with this phone by doing that. I have a hunch that this phone will take great pictures.
Is there a point in upgrade to Lumia 900 if you already have a Mango device?

You mean a 2nd gen? All devices have Mango so I'll assume thats what you meant.
Then the answer is no. Wait for Apollo. You will see more from all the OEM's including Nokia, and you'll see dual core, HD screen resolutions ect out later this year.

The Samsung Focus Flash is a 2nd gen device. It's great, but the Lumia 900 has a faster processor, better camera, better screen, faster 4G, and other cool features. On the other hand, if you have a Titan or Focus S, the Lumia's nicer than those, but the difference isn't as big.
BTW, Titan II or Lumia 900? (My vote's for the Lumia)

Well, just rumors of coarse. Nothing official will be said about apollo for months.
Their leaked roadmap shows "superphones" to be released with Apollo. MS_Nerd tweeted that this will include some sort of higher resolution (maybe a factor of 1.5 or 2?). There have been a bunch of other blog posts on it, but of coarse if you are looking for proof there is none.
They also just officially added support for dual core phones a couple months back so you know thats coming.
i think i am going to get the nokia lumia 900 and upgrade to something newer and better next year in 2013.

Excellent. Well maybe I'll just hold off, then. Was toying with getting a 900.
Apollo is rumored to bring support for 720p as well as support for Snapdragon MSM8960 (and apparently ST-Ericsson NovaThor and Samsung Exonys in a later update)
I'm hoping for my dream device: 720p, at least dual core, 1+ gig of RAM, and 32+ gigs of storage. Fingers crossed?
I do have an upgrade in April though, and the 1.4/1.5GHz processors in these 2G phones seem to address most of my performance complaints. Hopefully I can stay strong though.
I'm looking to trade my sidekick 4g on craigslist for a windows phone and I'm wondering what windows phones are on par with this phone

All of them. That sidekick seriously sucks. An old Nokia N-Gage is on par with the sidekick.

If you're sticking with T-Mobile, check out the Nokia Lumia 710.

If your country has Lumia 800, then get the 800 for better display quality.
Otherwise 710

Since you asked for a craigslist trade, and not a contract....
HD2, should be able to trade yours plus some cash for the
Hd2.
Assuming you are staying on Tmobile:
Any of them will be good phones, and all the windows phones will run fast, smooth & stable.
If you want newer hardware you'll want a nokia lumia 710 or htc radar. You can also get the HD7 (NOT HD2). The radar also has a front facing camera.
The HD2 is a windows MOBILE phone, and will only run windows PHONE operating system if you hack it on. The HD7, however, is a 1st generation windows phone that tmobile had for awhile. Just make sure its the tmobile version and not the AT&T version if you get that one (at&t's wont have the 3G bands for tmobile).
Omnia7 - the best camera and screen resolution and light rendering
I would go with the HTC Radar 4G. I like the Lumia 710 but w/o the front facing camera and Skype "coming soon"(forever) I fear it may be missing a possible key feature. I had an ffc on my Android phone before my windows phone and I never used it but I actually use facetime quite a bit on the iPad.

With Lumia 800 Nokia launched the first window supported mobile phone which work on Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango platform
it's all personal preference
There is no such thing as a bad windows phone, when you compare to other windows phones. they all run the exact same operating system (more or less) and have a minimum specification bracket that they must adhere to. so if you want a windows phone, the things to look at are:
1. Screen type (LCD, AMOLD, etc.)
2. Processor speed,
3. Camera quality
4. Screen size
5. Aesthetics
If you want a nice looking screen, perhaps the omnia 7 is best for you. A do-it-all powerhouse? perhaps the HTC TITAN, with its massive processor and huge screen. a nice-looking phone that can hold its own against most other devices on the market? The Lumia is your best bet. if you want a cracking camera, then maybe wait for the HTC TITAN II, with its gargantuan snapper and seperate camera processor. so basically, the phones themselves are more or less the same, in terms of functionality and user experience. its what you want to DO with them, thats what makes the difference.
I just received my HTC Radar three days ago. its really decent 3.8" phone
the build quality is top the display is very crisp and the phone is
really fast.
Samsung Focus or Focus Flash.. Both are exceptional devices.

NOT TRUE.
HTC Titan was released before that.
T-Mobile is the best (for me).
I recommend you to get a HTC Titan
Omg the guy is trying to trade a Sidekick 4g. He will not get a Titan for such a device.
It might be better to just trash the Sidekick and just buy another device.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
The titan will not work on T-mobile's 3G network, however it is rumored that a revised version of the titan and lumia 900 is in the works for T-mob.
Thinking how Nokia is putting it all for WP, i would personally go for Lumia 710.
Like said, there really isn't much of a difference between the second generation devices in a same price range.
So i would go for the one that's most desperate for people to buy the devices. Nokia is sure to keep churning more free apps to it's WP Nokia Collection.
You can't go wrong with the Radar or Lumia 710. I've been using the Radar for the past month and a half and I love it. At first I was put off by the smaller screen size, I came from the Dell Venue Pro, but I've found it be awesome. Since all current Windows Phone's support the same resolution you shouldn't be 'too' bothered by a smaller device. It fits great in my pocket. Network connection is fast with T-Mo's "4G". Right now I'm tethering to my laptop
good, or know someone sade some source more or less certain about whether the current terminal htc, nokia Samung and second generation update to windows phone apollo? or you think that even users of Lumia 800, radar, etc. titan leave us lying?
I got yesterday new info.
The thing is - even Microsoft doesn't yet know or isn't certain about it yet.
They are right now testing, whether the old phones can pull off enough perfomance to drive the new WinRT kernel.
Considering that new phones ship with Tango right now, I'd say that getting Apollo is pretty much guaranteed. There's a slightly possibility that the gen1 phones won't, but I'd be shocked. MS is specifically aiming to *not* fragment Windows Phone the way Android has ended up. Obviously eventually the hardware will be too slow to get reasonable performance out of the next version, but even the release devices will be barely 2 years old when Apollo comes out. The gen2 devices like you ask about will be under a year old in most cases.
Toady, i see this news, i think the HTC just copied the appearance of Nokia Lumia, i don't know why HTC’s Windows Phone 8X do this.
here is the news link: http://www.bgr.com/2012/09/19/htc-windows-phone-8x-8s-release-date-hands-on/
It's really not. Having owned both the phones, I see more in common with the Omnia 7 than I do the Lumia 900.
I think they are very similar as far as build quality but there are a couple or so things i like from the nokia 920; wireless charging , glossy finish, and that pureview camera looks promising.
I have an HTC One XL and a lumia 900 I love both. The lumia 920 is what the 900 should have been and more, the 8x is just a wp8 version of the One X .
While everybody awaits the I5 I keep holding my savings for that L920 on At&t if it makes it to them.

i am agree with you, they are very similar in terms of appearance, and if the HTC had no brand, I think almost all people will mistake it as Nokia 900.
