[Q] HoX won't boot, won't charge, won't anything? - HTC One X

Hi guys,
A friend of mine bought his HTC One X a couple of months ago and hasn't done anything to it, it's completely stock.
A couple of nights ago he said he was in the browser, all of a sudden the phone rebooted, loaded back up to the homescreen and then powered off.
Since then he hasn't been able to get it to boot or charge, and has now given it to me to try and fix.
It's been on charge overnight for around 9 hours and there is still no response in terms of leds flashing ect.
I've had a search and the issue has been seen before but not often.
Is there anything you would suggest trying? What would HTC do if this device was sent back, ie is there a 'download mode' for the One X or something similar, that HTC would force the device to boot into?
Thanks!

Should be under warranty if it rooted shouldn't it?

Absolutely right! However HTC have told him it'll take 3+ weeks to get back to him and he's wanting me to try and fix it without going through them..

Bump - Any suggestions?

Have you tried reading this : Wiki
Or maybe this : Disaster recovery
I'm not sure if they'll be useful in your case but you never now.

Anything you will do requires the phone to be unlocked with a custom recovery installed. This procedure is irreversible since the current LOCKED status will change at best to RELOCKED which will cause you a lot of headache later with HTC support. My advice send it to support without touching it.

[Q] Insurance for battery?

okay so my g2 is rooted and lately it has been dying and if i plug it in, it does'nt turn on the orange light blinks a few times and then...blinks orange and green, i left it on there for a while and then turned it on after unplugging it and it just keeps dying but this morning i woke up and it wouldn't even turn on. I've heard that this means its overheating, and i just wanted to know if my tmobile insurance covers a battery replacement.
You have to call the HTC Accessory line which is: 1-888-871-3305... just dont mention that your device is rooted and they will replace it, usually with free shipping
Thanks, but i went to tmobile and they took one out of another phone and the lady plugged it in and said it did the same thing.. we ordered a new one with the warranty still going until October. When I got home I plugged in the phone again and it worked.... i'm thinking about just returning this phone and using the new one but i'm not sure how (and if) i can unroot this thing and get it back to complete stock could you help me out?
yea I can help you.... can I ask did you do the gfree method or the older method (putting files on sdcard and typing in commands in Terminal)....
Yes I used visionary and typed commands with the terminal, I have s-off also

how long does it take before your battery dies.... if it stays a decent amount of time I would do this.... (make sure to fully charge between each step and if you need help with any step just ask)
1) Flash this Rom inside of clockwork recovery http://www.4shared.com/file/XlIDy7SV/ota_odex_V11.html
(charge)
2)flash the original recovery image http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834545&highlight=recovery
(past 2 steps were just incase phone dies out in next step
(charge)
3)now do the instructions on this site.. (And Make Sure you Charge as much as possible before flashing PC10IMG.zip)
then you would be unrooted....
Oh with the new battery the phone is fine now I just wanted a brand new g2 before my warranty ended
Besides it was already ordered before we found out that my phone would work properly with the new battery so why go through the trouble of canceling it.

Battery warrenty
If you got your phone less then ninety days ago the battery is still under a warranty. You need to call T-Mobile and tell them that your phone is randomly rebooting and when they ask you if you have another battery to try tell them you don't. You can also just say that the battery dies very quickly, or that the battery will not charge when you have the phone on the charger but it charges when you plug it in via USB. All of those complaints will lead to a free battery replacement.
Source: I used to work for T-Mobile customer service. (For three years until I went back to school last year)
Thanks but now I'm returning the old phone because we already ordered a new one under warranty so I need to figure out how to get back to stock

[Q] HOX self shuts down

Hi all, i'm having a big issue on one x with original 4.0.4 rom. The phone just keep shutting down while gaming taking photos, now also while updating apps. I thought that some app could cause this so i did an hard reset, and right after the initial set up, when i started updating the applications, it shutted down. I'm really worried, what is happening? could it be an hardware problem? Should i bring it back (it has warranty, i'm on stock rom)?
I noticed some log files in the memory, but after the hard reset it doesn't create them when it shuts down, while it did it before. any way to activate the log creation?
nobody can help me? today i tested it a while and it happened again 2 times, but this time whlie browsing (i use quick ics browser) and not while gaming. the second time when i rebooted it the battery indicator had a "!" on it, and it's not the first time, and it didn't recognize my sim.
Means that your phone is overheating, the battery being at or above 48c.
If you don't want to go down the modding route, then I suggest taking it back to the shop for a replacement.

Does your three soft buttons blink randomly? If so go to the service centre asap.
My cell overheated and burnt out.
It would not charge nor start. My cell to sometimes restarted itself automatically.
Do you keep many apps open in the background?
I had mine replaced and now its all smooth

it doesn't feel too hot, sometimes it's just cold and buttons don't blink. it simply show for a while "android system" (in italian) if i remember well and it shuts down normally with the htc logo. the strange thing is that thing with the battery and sim indicator. however i'll surely bring it back to the shop, i paid it 629 euros, i won't take it if it will shut down randomly. do they give you another one or i have to wait htc to repair it? :S i don't want to wait months.....
sorry for the double post, but now i'm sure that i will have to send it to htc so the question is another. Does someone have experience with htc reparations? how long will it take them to fix it and send it back to me?
My One X suffered from bad screen fitment out of the box (creaking, screen moving up and down inside the casing...) and I unlocked/rommed it before I noticed the flaws.
I relocked the bootloader, installed the 2.17 RUU, and sent the phone back to Germany (as it was bought in Ger and I live in Croatia) to get it repaired, they accepted it and repaired, it's on its way home now, should be here tomorrow, took 3 weeks to repair.
Positive experience for me.

Service is hit and miss from what I see on forums but I might also note that more people complain than praise.
I believe that with shipping and things its about 2 - 3 weeks in total for a repair.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
it's very much 3 weeks without my phone, but it's less then other brands... i really hope that one day they will use apples policy for this. it's the only thing that i like of it. if the phone isn't working you get another one immediately, then they can give yours to someone else, but it's not possible that i pay 630 euros and i have to send it to repair, wouldn't be the same for htc if they gave me another one, maybie a repaired one immediately? they can use mine later for some one else...

Even I had the same problem but I ready for modding,
Can you tell me what should i need to do for getting out such problem?
today i used it with apex launcher and it didn't shut down, even after 30 minutes of gta3 and 30 of dead trigger and some browsing- facebook ecc... now i'll try a day with sense but my question is: is there any way to flash the original rom from 0 ? doesn't factory reset delete just user file? maybie something else is corrupted. Can i flash the stock 4.0.4 without unlocking bootloaders or soing anything that voids my warranty? I'd like to try before changing it... THANK YOU
and today too it never rebooted with sense.... i don't know what to do. when the update to jellybeans will be available, there will be a way to flash it from zero with a ruu witout unlocking anything or void the warranty?
ok i asked to htc for the nearest point to repair my HOX and saturday i'll keep it there. Now it's unusable, it keeps shutting down.

HTC Home Button Malfunction

Hey yall, my new HTC One X's home buttons on the bottom won't work at all. Any Ideas about troubleshooting this?
Do a factory reset, if that doesn't fix it, the buttons are busted and not user-repairable.
Return the handset for warranty.

thanks man. I can't get it to work. Im just gonna go by an AT&T store i guess.
I'm having the same trouble now, too. It's been about 11 months since I got the phone, but I have unlocked my bootloader, and also dropped it and cracked the screen (although that was four months ago and this just started happening). Any suggestions, or am I out of luck?

Chances are slim... but why not stop by and claim warranty? No harm in trying...
However, always be on the stock ROM while giving your HOX for warranty...

Nexus 7 wont turn on (Help desperately needed!!!)

Well im in a bit of a predicament, my Tab died while my cousin was using it and now ive put it on charge for 30 mins and it wont get past the flashing x boot screen googled it and noticed someone else has the same issue, is it common? any help?
You should be able to download and reflash the rom if needed but not sure if you have too.
What was your friend doing to it? Was he trying to unlock and root, etc?
Will it sync to your PC?

Last night I had a similar issue, it won't pass the initial Google logo.
I just held the power button down for a while, and it turned off, then I powered it on again and everything was fine.
It happened after I tried a bunch of apps and decided to restart it.

My won't get past the flashing x at all, rebooted several times, charged it, everything but it won't turn on

I am guessing it's related to the letting the battery run out of juice.
Charging a completely dead lithium battery may take much longer time. For several times I have to plugin and wait half hour to several hours before the battery even start charging, of course those were on other devices, but I think it should be common among all such batteries. May be the battery hasn't been charged at all.
Since you are still in US, I would suggest take it back for a exchange, whatever the reason, the device should be considered faulty. If you brought it on Amazon then just return and mail it out before you leave.
fixed it by resetting the device in recovery, all works fine now, found a dead pixel now not going to risk returning it now, device is working fine
Seems like it's a 4.3 issue

HTC Replaced Rooted My One X

I recently had the BSoD on my One x (rooted and flashed with custom rom) I could not boot into bootloader, see the screen when turned on etc due to a constant black screen.
I decided, what the hell, lets try for a repair at HTC, the worst that would happen is they would charge me for the repairs.
Well... To cut a long story short (after waiting 3 1/2 weeks for my phone to come back).... HTC sent me a HTC One!
Just wondering if anyone else has had this instance or if it was an error on HTC's behalf?
Thanks for reading!

Nothing really, Just general day to day usage of the phone, maybe an hour of gaming, social networking, Gmails etc.. Stated getting graphical glitches about a week before the phone's screen went completely off, but never thought anything of it.
They probably couldn't fix it and were out of One X's so they just sent what they had.
Or maybe it was just a mistake ( someone forgot to add the "X" on some paper )
i know one guy who lives just 20 km from my home and he said he also has to send the phone in ...got back also one...because his hox had also problems with apx like mine...i have to wait till next week or so...my phone couldn't be fixed too...my whole system/mainboard is ****ed up...i will see if i get a new mainboard or even new hox...or if i have luck the htc one
