I unlocked the bootloader, rooted and installed CWM touch recovery but accidentally hit something on mount and storage section of touch recovery now my computer wont recognize my device. When plugged in it only charges but wont show up my device on computer. Any help? Please?
I've installed the drivers.
EDIT: It doesn't show up pop-up menu icon in status bar when connected via USB.

This.
Also check settings>storage>options and make sure MTP is checked.
I asked for usb fast charge but then I readed that he's only rooted and cwmed.. And stock kernel does not have usb fast charge..
Also he said that he messed up stuff with cwm so i pointed him to wipe..
So yeah if he's on a custom kernel usb fast charge or the MTP option could be the answer

Thank you all for your replies. Fast charge is disabled and MTP is checked but as I said when I connect phone to computer it doesn't give popup in statusbar about USB connection even though phone is charging.
I used GNEX toolkit for unlocking/rooting/installing cwm it was working well before that but when it got completed and I booted up in CWM touch recovery (and now I know where I hit) Mounts and storage>Mount /data that's what I had done then there was FOUND NEW HARDWARE wizard on my computer but I simply cancelled it and got out of recovery. When phone booted up this problem occurred. Can anyone now help me?

USB debugging is disabled too, no luck.
Plus I don't think it is hardware failure/malfunction as it can charge via same port.

try to manually uninstall the windows driver for the nexus and then plug it in
•Try a new Cable
•Try a different PC
•Try a different Port
Sometimes you can have a bad USB, and Windows will charge, but not read.

USB debugging needs to be on, not off
It doesnt sound like you are in Download Mode. Bottom volume + Power.
Also try rebooting PC, someone already mentioned different USB ports, reinstall Odin, etc.

This sounds like your problem. Same thing happened to me first time I tried to root.
No dinging noise and the phone is NOT recognized in device manager. I think i may have a faulty USB port on the phone.

although the op doesn't say I have to ask. what did you flash before trying to unroot. did you put the international ics on there?
I did not put on ICS. I am currently runnning caulkin rom
Hi,
All of a sudden my gio decided not to support USB anymore.
When I connect it, no mass storage thing appears on the phone, and in windows (windows 8 and 7) there are no signs of any device being connected either.
Even ODIN doesn't find it when it's in download mode, although I do have the drivers from sammobile installed.
Except for this the phone is operating normal, and it still charches propperly (which goes through USB too ).
Any ideas? I don't really need the USB connectivity right now, but in case I want to flash back to a stock rom I do need ODIN to work.
Thanks in advance,
Stannieman
Have you covered the basics yet (try another cable, try on another pc etc). Seems to me like a faulty cable or faulty usb port, either on phone side, either on pc side.

My external hdd works with the same cable on the same pc and same usb port. I have tried all ports. Mass storage also doesn't work on a macbook pro, though I don't know for sure if it is supported on OS X but I suppose it should work. Different cable doesn't work either.
It's not the cable and not the pc.
So I think in the luckiest case it's the connector in the phone?
Friday I'll open it, there's some annoying piece of dust on my screen also so I can take that out too + check for the connector.
In this case, yes, you may be right about the phone's port; remember, even if it's somehow flawed, it could still charge - maybe only the data pins are the problem. Hopefully, it will be only some dust blocking the connection, and not something worse...
Good luck!
If the connector is detached from the board then it's also doable (very careful of course), otherwise it won't ever work anymore.
I can't take it to the shop you see, I can't flash a stock rom...

Thanks, but doesn't work.
I've had problems with charging one day, but after an hour of trying (unplugging and replugging) the cable it started charging again. Never had charge problems after that.
Actually, I don't know if data ever worked after that. Now I think about it I never tried data connection since then.
Usually when I flash a new custom rom I always flash the latest stock to have latest baseband and other things that aren't changed by the custom rom install (I like having the newest ). That's the only thing I use usb for (and photo's but not anymore with cm9 without preview).
I think it's the usb connector from the phone.
stannieman go to the shop where you bought it and ask if they can look at it
I returned home yesterday and tried connecting to the desktop. Guess what?... it worked.
I don't understand why, as the hardware of my notebook didn't change and it always worked. I tried windows 8 rp and windows 7 (windows 7 used to work for sure), but nothing on my notebook. On the desktop it works just fine with windows 8 cp.
So I think we can conclude that either it's my notebook + macbooks don't work together with android, or that our desktop has magical powers.

I am not rooted. Have yet to figure it out. I have rooted everything I had but this device. Followed albert wertz method for my last device. It was fine but maybe its a samsung update or a win update; I am not sure what the issue is. I am just trying to transfer files from cell>pc vice versa. Drivers are installed and trying the samsung toolkit too but it apparently thinks that debugging mode isn't checked cause it gets stuck there everytime.

Hope I'm giving the right answer. this is what i found in the C drive under the samsung toolkit folder
Samsung_USB_Driver_1.5.15.0
drivers
I can't post links yet, but do a search on google "samsung l710 drivers" and hit the first link. It should take you to Samsung's website and you can get the drivers there.
Also, check if the device is in the right mode by doing the following:
On the dialer, dial *#7284# (*#PATH#).
Set the UART to PDA.
Click on Qualcomm USB Settings and change it to MTP+ADB.
If it was set to RMNET + DM + MODEM for example, checking the USB Debugging option will not enable debugging.
i cant see my sd card when it is plugged into the pc. it says that it is connected on the phone but nothing happens on the pc. could it be because i have the drivers installed for adb? or some other thing. if you need more info, please ask. id like someone to shed some light on this
Do you have fast charge enabled on your phone's kernel? And are you using a Samsung cable when connecting to a pc? These might be plausible reasons why you don't see your sdcard.

Are the MTP drivers separate from the drivers I would install with the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit for unlocking?
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the samsung drivers at least 4 times, rebooted phone and pc multiple times, tried 3 different PCs and still nothing.
Nothing(other than charging) pops up on the PC's or the phone when I plug it in. I have tried checking USB debugging several times.
Any ideas?
This just started happening to me today as well haha
Can't figure out why either
Did you get the current drivers from Samsung's site?
How about flashing any recent changes on the phones?
Does it indicate anything on the phone?
Any info - no matter how trivial it may seem - would help. Thanks!
I just got it to work by using the OEM usb cable that came with the NOTE 2.
Previously, I had tried 2 different htc cables, an LG cable and a random generic one. Really odd that it was the cable.

It was this way with the E4GT as well. Explanation I was given at the time was that the pin connections are longer on Samsung than most. That's why most cables except Samsung and BB cables fail on data but fine on power.
I've used the same cable the entire time. It's still not recognizing it.

hey guys am new here so sorry for my first post being a problem
ok so im kinda new to the android scene after many years of apple products i can safely say i wont be returning lol very impressed and gutted i didnt switch to android a long time ago...
anyway the problem i have is that after doing a lot of reading and browsing this forum i installed a few different kernels and then started with roms, and now discovered neither Bluetooth or usb works Ive tried many different things including restoring back to stock rom and kernel rebooting several times both PC and phone, ive tried a few other things that seemed to fix for others i installed the drivers at least 9 times now and kies over and over, also tried the galaxy note tool kit but it just wont see the phone it just charges it ive also tried a different cable and the same problem is there... the only option ive not tried is to completely remove root and start again, but the problem i have is that if that doesn't fix it is that i wont be able to root again through odin,
Ive enabled usb debugging etc also nothing im really lost with this now as want to transfer files that's when i realized Bluetooth wont switch on either
i upgraded to 4.1.2 with the omega rom also and still the same now am back to 4.1.1 through a saved restore
so pls any advice or pointers would be amazing

This is correct. I rooted a Note II last night using the white cable. The easiest way is to enable us debugging on the phone and issue the command from your:
adb reboot download
Once it is in download mode you can push your md5 with Odin

Indeed. I did try using a Nexus 7 usb cable and wouldn't recognize my phone but only to charge it not as a usb device. I then plugged another cable that it came with a spare S3 that I have and that worked for me.
i think it shoud be *#7284#
usb/mtp/ptp
I have CM12.1 on SPH-L900, when I go to settings>storage and click USB computer connection, it says USB is disconnected, I don't get the MTP/PTP menu.
I've tried in debug mode, I've tried *#7284#, and many others but none bring up a phone util screen. any help would be, helpful.
I used CWM to install.
edit: so I grabbed every cable I had and one worked, happened to be for a kodiak camera.
