As you know sir Vivek is busy as well sir Maroc but I have an idea but I don't have that much knowledge about porting etc.. So I want some help
As you know sir Vivek got some builds that were booting up he makes it from source. But some users uploaded some patches to make wifi, BT work etc.
I know this idea will be a build not 100% from source but: If we pick a booting build from Vivek and apply or make some patches (like some users already did) Can't we get a more stable built then for daily use ??

if you want a device with absolutely original cyanogenmod support then go on their website and see what is supported and then you can choose better, but I find the mini at least not well.for me this device sux.

Well, I would like a Galaxy S2 but the price x.X because I'm saving money for a new PC I really need a new one my laptop died and now I'm running a 2004 Pentium 4 computer slow !! Otherwise I already bought a Galaxy SII ^^. And about the Mini I saw in some video's on youtube that the screen quality is bad compared to the Y
in video quality there is only 6 ppi difference
pratically its nothing
viveks work doesn't work at all...if you want to start, you can try with the one razor has uploaded or joyos.
gps, wifi, and other stuff can be fixed but the major problem is graphics, we don't have graphics drivers for broadcom, sgy sucks really bad and all dev are tired with this device.
as OP said we can try to make a cm7 for sgy from vivek's source build but it will have the greenish graphics problem afaik

If I'm not mistaken, our port attempt is comes from ace. the graphic driver is working but we still have that greenish colour. based on this fact there's a possibility that we could use the graphic driver from ace's source.
Motafoca and Squadzone Working
yeap ace and some other devices have broadcom board but they also have separate graphics chip like adreno 200 or so, and this is where sgy lacks

the graphic chip might different but as you can see in those port attempt the driver are working on our graphic chip. the dev are complaining that they could find the one for sgy but as I've said they can try to use the one from ace.
This can be a stupid question but why can't they port the graphics driver from stock rom then ?

I think they use to port but now they have started working from source.Though raspberry pi is a different architecture, they are using same gpu,and even broadcom is helping them.Fk them .When something is cheap,,there is always a catch.

Hello, everybody i have swaped the camera modul from HTC DESIRE HD to HTC DESIRE, it fits perfectly in the SOC.
take a look the pictures. So i have not tested this but perhaps shold someone :laugh: i am interested if will work but maybe is no software for this sh..t (sorry 4 my english, sem iz sLOVEnije)
Nice one, creative.. Probably need the drivers and camera-code from hd rom..
Greetz
keep us posted
Did the stock HTC Desire camera drivers recognise the features of the HD camera?
Wie. Youre creazy :banghead:
No no. Realy its Cool. Show us photo if thats work fine.
--------------------------------
Not sure why'd you'd do this - unless the HD was borked perhaps?
If I had both I'd probably just use the DHD
Very good idea! A Desire HD camera module costs 8 pounds if you google for "desire hd camera module".
If I could upgrade my camera in my old desire, I'd be very happy
(BTW replacing the kernel module on /system should not be too hard in any ROM; the rest of the software stack would probably work fine)
Good idea and the camera modules fit but in the photos it dusnt show how it is when its fully asembled?? Maybe another ss with the device is fully asembled

Battery life.
Does it work, man?!
Camera is the one feature that utterly sucks in desire, would really like to see it replaced, if the hardware fits together, would the software recognize it?
You would need to port the desire hd camera drivers from DHD kernel to Bravo kernel before it would even work alot of work for just 3 extra MP not worth it
Good job
Nice, interesting, post any photo with 8MP camera...:fingers-crossed:

No1 will bother with it because it requires porting kernel drivers system changes will have to be made and so on. and tbh the desire WON'T accept the camera module anyway because it was not made for the Desire. Impossibles in the past are easy possibles today, I think that if the module connections are the same, probably there is no limitations to the device accepting it. The only limitation here is probably how the kernel will interface with the camera but we have ported roms from other devices (with other camera models and specs) and our camera works with the modified kernels/drivers. I'm really curious about it, so it would be nice to test it.

Nice joke by Google but if may it is real!! Then Samsung never give us that update!!
& I think kitkat also required 512 mb Rom !! Ok let 400 mb...... Ok low end device..... Lets take 300mb!!
But or phone have only 240 mb Rom !! So its very difficult to get that!! Coz I think Rom can't be increase by partition !! If it happens that every phone gets every update for latest android version.
Lets wait for our galaxy y / duos R.I.P 's day and then buy a high end device!! :'(
if this is not fake..then i am waiting for new update nd so exciated also.

There are written something that " the android 4.4 has Linux kernel 3.8 which support to low memory device below Ram 512".
Pardon me for typo, It's not Samsung Y (GT-S5360) which will get update of KitKat, as it is very low in memory : Just 289 MB.
New Samsung Young (S6312) which is shipped with 4.1.2 stock ROM, will get update of KitKat 4.4 .

Knew it couldn't be our Galaxy Young but the new model (S6310/S6312) that recently came out.
I guess by saying that it will consume less menory google meant that more ram will be available for other apps. And comparing our device in the latest low end devices list we can find that its not comparable. Bitter Truth.

The developers booted 4.2 on htc dream , nothing is impossible , don't compare windows and android , android is open source and highly customizable , we may get the update or no , but we can compile the new CM to our phone (theoreticaly possible) but we lack drivers.

The lack of drivers is due to the fact of the drivers it self being closed source. Eventhough you could get your hands on the drivers and getting 4.x booted up on a Y, it still does not mean that Google will make it run on legacy devices. My analogy was flawless, it was nothing to do with open or closed source, but the fact that trying to install a operating system on a device which clearly lacks the hardware to be able run the operating system. In other words, it is not possible. Sure the CM team or another hacker team might be able to incorporate some of the 4.x functions but it won't be the full 4.x.

Possibilities are:
Low end devices like GT-S5360 will get Android 4.4 KitKat. I heard that Google is working to Android to eliminate OS fragmentation. So if they will be able to make the newer version of Android to be compatible with devices 5 or more years older, then that will help the adoption rate of newer Android versions faster.
We all know that Samsung does not have a good reputation (but not the worst as well) when it comes to giving updates to their devices. Even flagship devices have delays getting Android version updates. To cut it short, even if KitKat will be available for GT-S5360, we have a small chance of getting it from Samsung. We need individual developers to work on it to bring it to GT-S5360. Remember, Galaxy Young is just one in a hundred of low and mid ranged devices released by Samsung. They may not bother to make Android 4.4 available for GT-S5360, but there is still hope. Galaxy Young is only 2 years old. 3 more years before this device reach it's EOL (End Of Life).
Patience is a virtue but don't keep your hopes high. You better accept the fact that this device may never ever ever ever get any android update from Samsung. If they do, then rejoice. If they don't, at least you ain't gonna cry like a baby

Nice explanation sir! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
Hello everyone ;
i just read an article stat that old phones with weak memory 512mg didnt get any new updates but this could be changed with new android !
it says that and i copy from it : ' One important feature will be the ability of low memory models to update to newer builds of Android. Low memory handsets made by Huawei, Samsung and ZTE that have 512MB of RAM inside, are at a major disadvantage to today's mid to high-range models that are packed with 2 to 3GB of the stuff. These low memory models usually are not updated to newer builds of Android. That could change with Android 4.4. '
idk but i guess if they did it it will be such a great news for old beloved old devices like my xperia ray !!:fingers-crossed:

I think 4.4 will just run good on low-end devices and it might be easier to port to those devices. But I'd wager quite a lot that Sony isn't going to bother with our phone anymore, 18 months have passed and they have dozens of other devices to support.
No Qualcomm support - no official 4.4 for our devices, get over it. We can only hope to get KitKat beacuse of Letama or Rayman.

also sony has compltely abandoned these old devices, most of the contracts end next year but sony dont care enough to even look in this direction.

Since Galaxy Nexus even is abandoned, then Why are there rumors in the first place.. Its so confirmed that they themselves have said its OLD and crossed 18 months.. So i guess old in their words mean basic low end budget devices.. Its like in "Pink Panther 2" where the HERO does both Good Cop Bad Cop Routine all by himself.. :silly: And still we gotta accept it..!!! Don't get any hopes up YET guys..
I dont think any old device will get 4.4 unless its a part of some new licence
I guess its good for old devices to run newer android , 4.3 is extremely smooth compared to 4.2 and 4.1 (on xs)
Speaking of which

Not gonna happen guys. Xperia S is pretty much EOL. I will be getting my new phone tomorrow. So I'm ready to leave this place
4.4 Will not be given by sony as the phone is now classed as "discontinued" and is a archived sony phone. I don't know if the end of support for updates has been done yet if not they can update it but very unwilling because they have lots of newer phones.
Most likely a developer will port it over
The only thing that I'm concerned of is, will it run smoother than other ported JB ROMs.

It definitely should as according to google it will run smooth on devices with mere 512mb of RAM.
The major challenges is hacking the code for our soc as it has been discontinued by arm too..

I've lost hope - at the time I bought this phone I could have got a SP for the same price. I regret this phone.
However, I don't really care about android updates now. The 12mp sensor is quite good on this phone.

I hate to say it but yes
There are two developers working on porting z2 firmware to our phone so I'm gonna say no... I didn't lose hope... Plus our phone is doing better than many phones which announced at the same time

Well I've literally tried every single ROM that came by...
Most of them were so good...
But then either developer left the project or got a new phone or just stopped building for this phone... In last 2 years (quite literally the longest time I've kept a phone) I've totally enjoyed using this phone but I think it's time to move on...

Trinity Ultimate Rom? That was a good Rom until he abandoned it and deleted the files of his server.

It´s getting old and it shows now.. Not top quality either, so many annoying little things, so yes!
Didn't lost hope
Still, with Sony JB (rooted), the best phone I ever had.
It's getting old as every phone does, so where's the problem. If you like to have more support on firmware you should have bought a Google phone. Didn't know that, I did at the time a bought my Sony.
I didn't expect more from a 2012 phone.. comparing to other phones released that year our Nozomi devices are quite good, we just didn't receive proper support from neither Qualcomm (abandoned our Scorpion CPUs) and Sony (1 year to upgrade to Jelly Bean with more bugs than anything and stoped support using the lack of drivers excuse).. Today we have the same as almost every mid-range phone, but with a good camera.
720p display, 12.1MPx Camera, 1750mAh Battery, dedicated camera button and the best of sony: we can use ports from newer xperia devices. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 and I can say that our Xperia S is way superior. In the SGS2 Android Development section there are almost no ports from newer Galaxy devices, only AOSP/CM ROMs. The ROMs that claims to have SGS4/SGS5 features are mostly lies and I can confirm that. I flashed some of those ROMs and the features they "ported" are just copies they made themselfs, not the actual port itself. I don't know if they don't port it because Touchwiz is crap or because they can't do it... but after all a SGS2 won't run SGS5 apks, but a Xperia S easily runs Xperia Z2 apks.

can you give me a link for your kernel TX-Core Ultimate Kernel 5.9
If you just buy it recently and with the standar price i bought 2 year ago, then that's a hope to lost
I mean i stick with my Xperia S and still think it one of the best around, and if you buy it couple years ago then why lost hope? Just need a stable rom for calling and play some good game? it's still work perfectly
I's just recently start to using rom cook and the experience is more amazing so why to compare it to the new phone and lost hope ?
Just move on if you want, if you want hard enough you will find a way to get out of the *lost hope* phone :silly:
No I'm not. Try the OpenSEMC-U ROM. It's fast like hell, and stable enough for daily use. But this is the last stable and fast ROM after the offical. Our's phones has got an old SoC (Snapdragon S3). The Qualcomm has stopped developing drivers for this SoC early. I just call this SoC "Blacksheep". It has so much power inside, but without good drivers...

I agree with you T2U is almost dead, even my 4 years old tablet Nexus 7 2012 got a lot of MM ROMs, ports and mods.
I regret buying this phone because of this thing
No Dev's.. As maybe bcoz... this phone isnt popular enough to grab dev's attention..
it is one of the best phone in its timeline.. (i think)
just wondering.. if we.. T2 users, can request.. dev(s) to get us new ROM.. is it possible?

They'll need the phone itself first if they wanna do work.
But then the T2U/C3 series has a lot of messed up or half-done work. Missing camera sensor folders, no QC 2.0, broken GPU governors. It's like they used this model as a test for newer ones.

Slow, still doing work on their stuff. No devs with our phone, no work.
I'm going to move to the Redmi Note 4 soon, Snapdragon 652 at less than the price of the C3 with dev support. Give it up lol
