Hi all,
I upgraded my T989 to stock ICS and I just don't like it. How can I go from a stock ICS for T989 to Juggarnaut 5.0? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322642)

The keypad is really laggy for me. I've tried the Samsung one, Go, and Swift key. It is just horrible. Is there a way this can be fixed on ICS? Should I try an ICS custom ROM?

Do I took from ICS with the following procedure?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311194&page=85
If you want to do it in CWM or TWRP recovery:
1. Do a full wipe. (Darkside full wipe is the easiest otherwise, do a factory reset)
2. Install GB compatible radio from Mr. X's radio thread. (Even though, the new TLLE4 telus radio for example, will still work.)
3. Install Juggernaut 5.0
4. Reboot and wait.
flash superwipe then the rom.

Hello All,
im running a 2.3.6 rom , but i would like to run an ics rom. my question is, do i have to go back to stock and update or can i just flash the ics rom? any help would be great, thanks.
you can flash an ICS ROM. Just make sure you first flash a compatible modem, and do a complete wipe using darkside wipe and darkside cache wipe. Dont restore data either.

I just rooted my S3 a few minutes ago, and I'm really new to all of this. I'd really like to not brick my phone so I'm going to play it safe.
As far as ROM's go, if you install a custom ROM how do you go back to stock? Also, if you want to install a new ROM and you have a custom one installed, what do you do to insure that you won't install the ROM over the one you have?
What do kernels do? And how do you install/flash them?

Between his videos and thorough reading, I was able to pick up rooting and flashing back on my Samsung Epic 4G.

Use qbkings videos
But to go back to stock you would flash a backup you made before every Rom flash and to keep things nice and clean you always clear data and cache

Alright, so in order to restore stock I'd have to backup my phone in CWM, then restore it later for stock?

Does it need to be restored to stock in order for the 4.1.1 update to install correctly?

Yes... But there are going to be like 5 or 6 custom roms that are all going to be JB based, most will have even more features than "stock"... So, I suggest and invite you into the development threads...

If you wanted stock jelly bean when it comes out, yes you'll need stock recovery to install a ota update. But if you decide to run a custom rom, then the developer should update it to 4.1.1 soon after the official ota comes out.
Or the developer may update their rom to a leaked version of 4.1.1.
Either way there is always a way to get back to stock outta the box via Odin and go about updating the long way, unless you hard brick your phone.

If you want stock jb when It comes out you can just flash a Rom that is stock jellybean or a super customized version either way

If I wanna upgrade to the official JB and my S3 is rooted with custom rom, is it safe to upgrade to official jb via Kies? Or should I go back to stock ics before upgrading?

If you want to go from a custom ROM to stock JB, Kies won't do it. You will need to flash via Odin. You will loose root and your custom recovery.

Link please ? Do that Odin program and how to flash JB on it
If you're going to have to use odin anyway, you should consider installing mrRobinson's root-injected stock jellybean rom. Then you won't have to worry about rooting it. Worked awesome on my stock rooted ICS with stock recovery. Also worked awesome on my son's stock rooted ICS with CWM. Here's the link. Everything you need to know is in the first post.

Do I need to get rid of my custom rom if I wanna upgrade? If I don't, will it brick it?

Hey guys, im rooted on stock jb for tmobile with stock recovery. I wanna get custom recovery and flash back to ics and use a custom rom like wicked v7.
To do this do I just download goo manager, install its recovery, wipe then flash? Or do I have to change the firmware etc?
Sorry, I usually search for my solutions but im read mixed stuff on reverting and I really dont wanna brick this thing. I even kinda forgot how to do all this since I havent touched my old sensation in months.
Thanks guys.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Yup.
If you're rooted, 1. download goo manager 2. install openrecovery script 3. flash ROM of choice. You may need to wipe cache and data if you get a bunch of FC's since you're going back to ICS from JB. Don't forget to do a nandroid (step 2.5).
Already on Frosty ics, but thanks guyss

What I would first do is Odin the ics so you have all drivers installed properly then root and flash rom of choice
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I agree with Crisisx1. I know you said you're already running Frosty (I'm a Wicked guy myself) but if you notice any anomalous behavior, I'd definitely Odin to stock ICS and then go through the proper flashing process. This will ensure all of your partitions/drivers are properly set up. GL man.
So far so good, if any weird things happen ill deff odin back, thanks again guys.

I am currently on aopk right now and I am planning on flashing something else. The question is.. Do I have to put my phone back to stock to flash a new rom? What's the easiest way to flash a new rom while currently running a custom Rom?

Compete a full wipe and install the same way you did your current custom ROM. No need to return to stock.

Unless your going from an AOSP or AOKP or CM10 rom to a stock based rom such as Ultimatum that are on different versions of JB (4.2 to 4.1.1). You would most likely soft brick if you did not go back to stock first.
Other than that it is not necessary.

Actually it won't, you just have to do a factory reset to wipe data, then flash away. No need to flash back to stock.
