S-ON
If you're S-ON it eliminates the possibility of you having a custom bootloader, and the only possibility now is that the RUU was corrupted or you used the wrong RUU for your device. Therefore, for this process you need a goldcard.
[STEP1]- Create the goldcard from the tutorial
[STEP1]- Use the WWE RUU

what should i do?
EITHER
#If you have your phone on contract with a carrier e.g. You got the phone from Vodafone, then go to shipped-roms.com and download the RUU for your carrier.
OR
If you bought the phone unbranded from a store e.g. Amazon.com, then just flash the WWE RUU.
OR
If you're lazy and have balls of steel, go to my guide and download the 2.3 RUU (Find it in resources) and run that.
THEN
Turn the phone on, plug it in via USB to your computer, find the RUU.exe you downloaded, run it on your computer, wait. Do not for christ sakes unplug it when it's updating or you'll brick your phone.

damn, well thanks anyway i'll keep trying with 2.3 RUU : (
i fixed it !!
i just put it in the fridge for 20 minutes because it was too hot (maybe for running to many RUU's) then i took it out, tried again with 2.3 RUU and now im using it !!
thanks for the help
EDIT: no i'm stuck in bootloop -_-, tried going to recovery and formatting everything (as bortak guide says) but when i go to recovery bootloop apears, it seems that i dont have a recovery, any ideas?
EDIT2: WTF i just put it on the fridge again for 10 minutes and worked again, could the problem be the overheating?
It looks like mother board issue

Yeah I realized that, but acording to the information the problem depends on the mobo which must be PVT1, and i have PVT3 so maybe the problem should not be as bad as is in PVT1.
Am I wrong?
PVT1 was bad with mobo... I did not see many problems with pvt3, let it settle and test it for a couple days then you will see... You can try stability test app from market to stress phone out

Stability test... is running your phone to max. load to test if everything working fine... if you got overheating issue etc... Best thing will be underclock and undervolt to reduce heat produced by mobo and cpu/gpu

I've be en cheking and it seems that the phone turns off when battery temperature reach +30°C, so maybe it could be the battery, what do you think?

Well if u go the s-off + rooting road and all goes well...u wont regret it
Just do plenty of reading about it first so u know exactly what u have to do that way it reduces the chances of things going wrong

Wow! I just dropped my Evo from my lap (about2 feet maybe) and the screen shattered! It still works, but obviously I have to get it fixed....I have full insurance.
So my questions are these...
1. Before I take it to Sprint, I have to get it back to stock. Once I run the appropriate RUU, will there be anyway of knowing I had rooted it?
2. Will I get a new phone, or will they try to repair this one?
3. I understand there is $100 deductible, will this be the full 100? Has this happened to anyone else?
I'm in shock right now.....I love my phone =(

Your floor must be made of adamantite....But no, as long as you get it unrooted, showing S-ON in the bootloader, they won't know, and delete all your rooting, rom materials, ect off the phone/sdcard. It'll probably be the full 100$ and they'll probably just hand you a refurbished one. But that sucks man.
Great! the damn RUU wont work! Windows 7 keeps closing it....saying something like, "Close program or Search online for solution"
I downloaded:
RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe
From another link and same thing....
Can I paste it to my phone and run it?
Any suggestions?
Should I put the god damned thing in the microwave then take it in!
I'm so pissed right now!...
Sorry....frustrated.
That would be funny to see it in the microwave. But you ran the RUU correctly, with phone in fastboot, connect to pc, when it shows fastboot usb then run the RUU? Also has installed then uninstalled HTC sync?
with phone in fastboot, connect to pc, when it shows fastboot usb then run the RUU
Worked...I was able to run the RUU and apperently my phone is back to stock.
However.....
showing S-ON in the bootloader, they won't know
It says:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF

Yes, they did. They will most likely make him do an Assurion claim and pay the $100 deductible. I guess it was costing Sprint too much money to fix the screens so they went back to the policy of physical damage being an insurance claim instead of a warranty repair.
i recommend to just take it to the store and they put a new screen with no charge because i get a refurbish from the insurance's and it was with marks round the camera and i take my wifes phone and they don't charge me nothing and the phone was roted and they just fix it with any question i just get stock with my refurbish old phone and i never can have the same battery life like the one i get like in 2 months ago

Ok. I hate to ask, dkdude, but I'm a bit scared.....
First, is this the link to s-on tool?
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever
Second, which pc36img.zip do I use? Or are the all the same?
I was under the impression that there are several different EVO software's out there. That is why I had to download a specific RUU to run?
Anyway, if that is not the case, can you please link exactly what I need to download? and perhaps exact directions on what I have to do?
Appreciate all you guys responding....
I'm still frustrated and pissed =)
the s-on tool is somewhere in there. its in the faq section i think. make sure to flash it before ruu-ing.
the pc36img.zip you will want to flash is the 3.70 stock version. you can find it here.

The new official rule is any crack, in any screen, on any phone, that is larger than one inch is sent to Assurion for a physical damage claim.

I tried to go to stock rom by puting PB99IMG.zip in sd card.. it read nad gave me cid incorrect.
now i tried making gold card but i dont knw if my phone is branded or not..
and cant make a goldcard.. is there anyway .. to get of of this situation.
Please please needed help
Many Thanks
What is your carrier? You just need to find a stock rom that matches your phone.
Oh man.. this is the issue.. I dont know anything about that.. is there any other way??? I remember 1 thing when my phone was in working stage.. i had exilier app.. well.. i have read there GSM somewhere.. and even the person i got it from told me its not for any carrier.. it is unlocked...
Thanks for you concern
Try and download some roms from here that match your radio. 5.11.05.27. Enter fastboot on your phone and then run the ruu on your pc.
http://ship.ibeta.org/shipped/Bravo/
You can try a Htc WWE rom first and then for example the Vodafone rom. If you get a cid error, you should try the next one. There should be one that matches your phone
Ahhh.... .. well.. i guess u r ri8... thats the only way .. left.. i hope that work .. Thanks man
God.. this is killing me.... when I run the RUU file.. it is giving me error n close.. but when i go to TEMP folder and run setup file from there.. than it run but.. giving me ERROR 107 USB Connection . .but I can see my phone under Android Phone as Android Bootloader Interface . . .I think i Lost my Phone.... Please help Guyz.. very much appriciated.
Fewwwww... At last I have done it....Things I have done.. it might help someone.
Well after trying all the RUU i wasn’t able to update... as my phone is not booting and not going to recovery.. i can not create goldcard from Gooldcard Tool....coz it’s not connection to ADB......and then I read somewhere..
That the goldcard is not concern with the mobile or region.. it is just concern with the memory card...
So i took my memory card out and put into my friend android mobile..
I went to android market.. search for an app called... Goldcard helper.
And bang... it gave me.. the reverse CID code.. which I used to create my goldcard...
And then i put memory card back to my dead phone and update with the official RUU.. and now my Desire is ON..
Ya I was new to android few days back.. but now after this error.. hack I can join Google HQ for android development. ;-)
Thanks Guyz

I am struck with the same problem but i am completely new to the world of androids.
I got few questions please answer these
1. I don't have a second android mobile with me right now (none of friends either) so is there any way to get the cid code?
2. and main question is can u please guide me through how to update with the official RUU, if you can give me a step by step guide it will be great, if not possible please mention any url where i can get those instructions.
Thanks in advance mate.
Oh boy i came a long way cross in these two days,
actually i got my desire as a gift from my friend who bought it from UK, so i don't have the warranty, but i took it to htc care here in hyderabad and they told me that the issue was with the motherboard and it needs to be replaced and will cost me 75% of the mobile cost, then i took it to a hardware expert he also thought that it was mobo problem but later told me that he can't find any problem with it.
Then i found this post here and i was excited to say at least then learnt about gold cards, RUUs flashing them and everything and tried as was told in the other forums but for no luck.
only hope now is that i didn't tried it yet with the sd card it came with i will do that and post the result
meanwhile if anybody's got any solution for this problem please share with me.
My problem is exactly the same one which was mentioned in the first post.

You need to boot into android in order to create the goldcard. You said that you were not branded, then you can try these steps.
Download the latest ruu.
Then use EddyOS his instructions about extracting the .zip file from the .exe you just downloaded.
Quote:
You can extract the ROM.zip from any RUU to install via ZIP
Start the RUU and once at the first main screen click Start>Run and type
%temp%
now, find the newest folder and in there will be a ZIP file called Rom - copy this to your desktop and rename it PB99IMG. (Don't extract the file) Now copy this to your SD card and start the phone in HBOOT (turn it on whilst holding volume down). It will find the file and start the update. Just follow the instructions...
Do all this while not plugged into your computer. Not sure if it will work, but it's worth a shot.

just go to this website

and follow.. from step 7. without puting tht 00 and all.. coz u already have reverse CID with 00 ..
If you done this.. then u r done.. just download any RUU with 5.11.05.27
and update..
hope you getting my point

if your problem is making a gold card, try this software:
http://android.modaco.com/content/software/308798/pc-application-goldcardtool/
follow post #16 because its good advice...put your original htc desire sd card into your dell and install goldcard helper, this software can read the CID of your micro sd card.
if the CID the software gives you is reversed skip to step 7 in the unlockr tutorial and fill out the details.
once you have received your gold card open goldcard tool (downloaded earlier), load your memory card and the goldcard.img then click 'patch mmc'
once this is done put the sd into your desire and youhave a gold card.

hi jhonybravo, i've followed that same thread and followed all those steps
only thing is i've tried that with the memory which came along with desire.
that's my last hope.
thanks for bearing with me buddy
appreciate your feedback..
Hi,
I know there are a lot of other Threads about Bricked Phones but I swear, I've tried everything.
My Phone is S-Off and I had the CM7 Rom on my device.
For a Friend, who wants to buy my phone, I tried the "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release"
and know i got the black htc screen with the 4 exclamation marks in each corner.
My Phone was original from o2 so I tried the o2 Ruu but that didn't work either.
Also My Device is with the SLCD-Screen.
I also have a Goldcard but the Goldcard seems not very helpful to me.
When I try to flash a Rom with Ruu it tells me the Error 110 on the PC and on my phone appears that

Can Somebody help me?
I tried everything for 2 days know but nothing worked.
Jesus Feckin Christ!
I can either answer this like I do every single day of my life, or I can tell you to use search....
Hmmmm. What to do?
Maybe we can play a little game? Yes thats it.
Clue 1. Alpharev / Revolutionary hboots have write protection.......
OMG Thank you so so much for this brilliant idea.
What do you think have I done the last 2 days?
2 Days of writing this post?
I've tried everything which I could FIND by using Search but nothing helped.
When you can help me, thank you.
Please don't waste my time with upolished posts.
I can help you. I know the answer. I post the answer every day. Did clue 1 not help?
Give a man a fish and he can feed himself for a day. Give a man a logical and methodical approach to resolving problems and he can fix his desire for life.
Now play along
I'm sorry for taking it out on you, but this really is asked EVERY day and its so obvious why it doesnt work...
Command back.
Ok, its early in the morning for me so sorry.
I'm not so experienced like you with the whole development-stuff.
When I change something on my device I read something in threads and try it step by step but i don't really understand what I'm doing like most people.
I understand its annoying to answer the same problems so often but i would appreciate it if you could help me one more time.
Aww you're being so nice. I wanted to give you another clue, but ok...
You have the CM7 R2 hboot. This is too small for a sense rom, the /system partition will not accomodate the /system of a sense rom. Which is why you see the [fail]
Because the hboot is write protected, the RUU couldn't over write it with the stock hboot first.
What you need to do is download the downgrade.img from alpharev and fastboot flash it as a hboot.
Then you can simply run the RUU again.
Thank you so much.
one last question. Do i have to put the downgrade.img on my sd card and start normal or how can i flash is a hboot?
follow the red link in my signature for my guides. There is an adb and fastboot faq. Ignore the adb part as its irrelevant.
This will tell you how to use fastboot. Most people tend to go for using the windows application that is linked in there.
One of those déjà vu threads.
Is the bravo_downgrade.img only 512kb small?
i tried it with the android flasher.
When i plug my phone off the usb its shows my device is know s-on (so good for that).
But the Ruu.exe don't work.
Still stuck on the exclamationmark screen.
Now I still got a Goldcard. To use it, do i have to put the goldcard only in my device and run the ruu.exe again or do I have to do something different?
I got the failure 131 in the Ruu Update-Window
Does anybody know what else i can do?
You just put the goldcard in and RUU. Or use the 2.3.3 from the HTCdev.com as it doesn't need a goldcard
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
How can i use the 2.3.3 from htcdev.com
Should I run the Unlock Bootloader?
What does I have to do?
You have to fastboot flash the downgrade.img and in fastboot still, run RUU
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Has Somebody the Link for the right RUU?
I've treid everything i could find but non of them worked.
I bought my desire in Germany with an O2-Contract. Originally is was a froyo rom.
Still hanging on the exclamation mark screen.
After i plug the usb off it shows:
Braveo PVt4 Ship S-On
HBoot-0.93.001
Micro-051d
Touch Panel-Synt0101
Radio-5-11-05-27

RUU
does this mean the falsh of the downgrad.img didn't work?
Well the fact that you're S-ON would in fact suggest that it has worked (kinda a d'uuh moment there).. tried different RUU? tried 2.3.3 RUU?
all the advice that one can give to you has already been given. put it into practise.
try different RUU to see which fits to your phone

Nevertheless, I totally agree with bortak.

hi I tried to install IceColdSandwich-1.2.0 Rom on my DHD but after i did it my device stuck on htc logo and never boot the problem is i am new in this stuff and i can't get my device back to life i 'v downloaded the ice cream sandwich using
clock work mode and my Hboot screen shows:
****UNLOCKED*****
ACE PVT S-on RL
Hboot -2.00.0029
MICROP-0438
Radio-26.14.04.28_M

and i don't know what Ruu to install
please help and thx
Your phone isn't rooted. How did you manage to flash recovery onto it in first place?
Search for advanced ace hack kit on xda. Read a LOT about how to use it and once ready, let the kit do its thing. After that you'll be S OFF and able to flash any custom ROM.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD with Beats Audio using XDA App
He unlocked it using the official HTC dev tool. It allows you to flash a custom recovery.
This is an obligatory to the op. Please research before you go and do stuff to your phone. I just don't get how someone will take a risk on there phones.
The reason it didn't boot is because you have to flash the boot image seperately. One simply can't just flash a rom, in cwr and call it a day if you did it using HTC tool.
What you need to do is. Boot back.into hboot select fastboot.
Take the boot image from your rom and place in your folder where fastboot and adb are located.
Then run the command
Fastboot flash boot boot.Img
Fastboot reboot
Its not working

It is ONE click Root, S-Off & SIM unlock kit.
Read carefully, go step-by-step and than you'll be ready to go.

thanks but i only can access to Hboot menu and i can enter the clock work mode but the AAHK doesn't workout with me
Run a fitting RUU, relock your Bootloader and use AAHK afterwards.
(if you would have taken some time to get into this stuff, you wouldn't be messed up right now "Official HTC Unlock" is not that brilliant compared to AAHK ).
You say you don't know which RUU to use.
Where did you buy your phone? Was/Is it branded?

ok i will thank you but do you know error "155" and how to solve it and if Ruu works with s-on or not and thx again
When do you get this 155-error?
If using a fitting RUU, it will always work afaik But I'm pretty sure.

I didn't really know what you meant by afaik
I tried alot of RUU but they all keeps popup with error 155 and i don't know how to fix it and i don't know how to fix this problem but i really need to work it out and thx for all of you
"As far as I know"
Did you try flashing it in fastboot mode?
Get your device into bootloader and choose fastboot. Try to run the RUU again.

Ok, another idea:
You have that stock RUU fitting your phone?
Open explorer here: C:\Users\"YOUR USERNAME"\Appdata\Local\Temp\
Then Run the RUU, it will extract the files to some folder in here, you will see it pop up when opening the RUU (or you run it and simply use search).
Inside there'll be a "rom.zip".

Rename it to PD98IMG.zip, push it to your SD card (in root, not into a folder) and boot your phone into bootloader.
It should check the file and then you have to select "yes" to flash it. Should be fine after it.
DN41
thx I tried to do this before but it keeps tell wrong Image
So you're a hundred percent sure, that you've got a fitting image? Cant believe that it would block a fitting image that method.
Which version did you try? Most recent one?
And BTW: would be great it you would tell before what you already tried instead of letting me explain it and then say "oh i already did that"
DN41
EDIT: I guess it doesnt take the Rom because of the high hboot version (yours is somewhere around 2, "normal" ones around 0.84). Maybe it would be the best to contact HTC's Support regarding that you used their official unlock instead of AAHK.

thx again for your help
So the phone is currently rooted and running a GPE rom, would it be ok if i sent it in like that for repair?? or should i return it to stock?
Well i hope you had the logic thought yourself that completely stock is the best. It's about your screen so it shouldn't matter.....but on the other hand, why take the risk ?

hey thanks for the reply man, i read back on the shattered screen thread, a guy mailing it in rooted running a custom rom, please read and tell me what your think, im really considering just doing that.

Just thought I'd share my experience for anyone else wondering. I originally sent my phone in a week ago. Did the express option. After shipping the phone back received an email about two days later with the title" Your HTC quotation is ready". After clicking the link I see a that the quote is for $290, and the reason is illegal software.
Before sending my phone off all I did was a wipe. My phone was sent unlocked and rooted with ARHD 8.0 Rom and TWRP still intact. I called HTC the next day and filed a "quotation dispute ticket". They asked my reason and I said basically the screen was cracked due to physical damage and clearly no software installed on the phone had any impact on that. Got a call last Thursday (July 3rd) from an HTC repair manager. He apologized for the inconvenience and stated that after reviewing the phone he could see that it was unlocked but was still running HTC Sense rom, and was not overclocked or altered in other ways. Due to this they would honor the screen replacement. Got an email this morning saying the phone was sent out next day air, and should receive tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks HTC! I think the main issue they see is people installing GPE based roms or overclocking. It seems pretty standard that any unlocking will automatically red flag the phone and shoot out an automated quotation email for the $290. I think simply opening the dispute has someone take a deeper look into your issue and more times and none HTC will honor the replacement.
Hope this helps!:fingers-crossed:

up to you mate - but why take the risk for a quick return to stock?
you'll see other people in that same thread have had huge problems trying to get repair under warranty.

I want to return it back to stock, but im not 100% on the steps i should take, and I currently dont have a Windows machine to work on, i could borrow one later today.
First remove the tempered flag then return bootloader to LOCKED not relocked and finally run the ruu to get full stock unrooted

Same old same old....now i ask you which ruu !? Do you know if its there. Do you have a 2.22.401 international ruu (if he is on that official main) ? No because its not there. All available ruu's are for sprint/Verizon/tmobile....so stop referring to ruu's in the international forum !

So i should remove the tempered flag then return bootloader to locked, after all that flash one of your nandroid backups? i have an ATT device btw.
Check your software number and cid. That's first to know ! Then compare and check if there is a matching nandroid or ruu (for AT&T) gather your information first. And NEVER relock/lock your bootloader before you know what you are doing. In regarding of restoring a nandroid backup relocking/locking the bootloader is the very LAST step you take in the process.

You can check in the settings menu - about - software the version you are running now. If the 502 is the same you can take any of those 2 with the matching stock recovery and even perform ota again. You can also check in the AT&T threads if there is a ruu available. But without s-off you can't downgrade the hboot. With a nandroid backup you can, because the hboot will be untouched and you "just" run a lower software.

I dont see that, im guessing its because im running GPE, so just picking the correct one will flash back to 100% stock even recovery?
