Sony Live View available for $19.99 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Here is the ebay link to Sony live-view:
If you dont know what live-view is about here is a neat little promo video from Sony.
Developers have created other plugins for this device as well. The plugins include: Alarm clock, gmail, dialer, phonebook, Calling, etc...
Let me know what you guys think..

I got one for around the same price 1/2 year ago, it's slow so I stopped using it, they have released the second generation one now.

Poor reviews.

where is the review.

I would recommend that you just save your 20 dollars and wait till the new E-Pebble watch is released in the market. You can pre-order the watch right now as i have. I have a live view and it is extremely poor with ice cream sandwich. No plug-ins work at the moment. The only good use i can see with this is to connect it to your phone at the time of a test and send yourself all the answers to the test and you'll be able to view the answers on the little liveview.

the best it can do for me is control your music player whiles using my expensive headphones connected to the phone, other features are slow, and takes time connecting.

Everywhere if you use Google.

I ordered one. Should be here next week. Just wanted to try it out.
i was wondering if the firmware is hackable? does it run some version of android or a custom firmware?

I also just bought one because it's cheap. I searched online for ways to make it work with ICS and I found this. I didn't write this howto, just passing it along.
1) Install ADW Launcher
2) Open ADW Launcher, longpress on the homescreen and create a "Custom Shortcut"
3) when selecting the shortcut target select "Activity"
4) Search the Plugin within the list and select the "****Preference" subnode
5) Press OK
6) Click on the new shortcut so that the preferences of the plugin will open
7) check the "Enabled" checkbox of the plugin
8) you are done the plugin should work now... but you need to restart LiveView-App to see them!
9) revert back to your launcher of choice.
Also install liveviewcharm app from the market, and that will solve the connection issues.

So I also got this watch, but there is one thing that really annoys me, the watch never reconnects by him self, the phone always asks to confirm the bluetooh passkey, can I overtake this issues ?
Thanks

I just wanted to say that I bought one figuring "for $20, how bad could it be?". The answer is, REALLY bad. The fact that someone ever thought this was a commercially sellable product is absurd. It's borderline unusably bad at the things it's supposed to do, and sure, there's a bit of third party development going on for it, but what I really wasn't prepared for is how cheap and shoddy the thing is. It's just not worth owning at any price point. Save your $20 and buy yourself some beers or something. You'll thank me later.

Can any one confirm if this still works on Galaxy Nexus with newest Android 4.2.1 its available on my country wanted to try this out just for as usual "Clock" and also music control capabilities. I'm on tight budget so I cant afford Sony Smart Watch (love its water proof thingy) so I may as well try this out.

Can confirm it's working like a champ on stock Sammy Note 2.
Looks like price is down to $18. Someone reported finding it for $15.
If you see it that low, could you let us know?

Is it just me or does it appear to be RIDICULOUSLY expensive?
Nice device though!
I agree but that site "expansys" from what i read in the Samsung Tab price posts jacks the prices up anyways. Lets hope its cheaper.
Ive noticed these things have insanely inflated prices any time a cell radio in is in the spec listing. I have no intentions of buying one for that purpose.. that is a bit stupid. Wifi would be just fine.. specially considering my dinc can supply it's 3g service without any extra monthly fees
Though it's awesome they rooted it already.
it'll be rooted and sim unlocked in no time because it uses all the same from Galaxy S

Its not just that. Anywhere that is currently listing a sale price is utterly guessing. They genuinely have no information to work with. And then expansys are adding 200 on top of total guesswork.
Also, rootedness = awesomeness Can't wait to get this thing running. We might even get Cyanogen for it. That'd give it some real chops. Full bluetooth support + sixaxis controller/wiimote + SNES Emulator + 7inch screen/HDMI + 7 hours of battery = ultimate in traveling awesome. All of the gaming stuff gets better hooked up to one of these. ScummVM, emulators, tower defense, even suduko and mahjong is cooler.
My real dream tho... BT mouse and someone to port C&C . Thats one hell of a train ride *drools*

Someone elsewhere in these forums posted a link to someone who had managed to get quadrant scores, and it would indeed seem to be plagued by the same kind of problems as the stock SGS, primarily because they haven't changed a whole lot. Luckilly since it is so similar to SGS, it strikes me that the current lag fixes might not even need to be changed for the SGS, aside from initially needing a manual update.zip route until someone makes a specific one-click app, since I imagine the Tab will have different usb drivers.
Still, anything you can do to make the SGS rock harder, you can near certainly do to the Tab. Just have to wait for the units to show up and the chefs to get to work.
Wait so am i mistaken that they are removing just voice dialing.. meaning like.. "call mike jones" and it auto calls.. or are they removing the actual PHONE capibility in the tab? If they do that Im not gettign it, i was all hyped that I could have a tablet that was sweet and have a phone, no need for both I tell you that.

Are you buying one? If yes could you share the points that you think matters for you to own one?
Thanks
I'm definitely considering buying one, or at least asking for it for Xmas if I don't get around to buying it. I've kind of been wanting to get a watch anyways and this brilliant little device would be a nice watch and great for seeing what messages friends are sending to me while I'm working. I'm also an accessory whore so theres that as well. Why buy a fancy watch when I can get something that connects right to my phone and does much more than tell me the time
If it isn't astronomically priced I would consider getting one. Sony made an older bluetooth watch that is still available on ebay for a fairly high amount though.
I amuse myself with the thought of kids in school being able to check their text messages / social networks from their watch. I would have.

I'm actually thinking of buying this one too. regarding battery life, right now I have my x10 connected to my mbw-150 and IS800 and so far my phone lasts a day, granted I only wear them when I go out which is like 6 or 7 hours a day.
6 hours are the normal battery time for the liveview device!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
6 hours battery life is putting it a little low. Got mine since Friday 19th and have been using it since.
The battery holds for about 14 hours with on and off (regular) usage.
But as with all new devices, you'll probably drain that thing dry in about 5-6 hours, since you will be fumbling it all the time.
But as time goes and you'll use it normally, you should see a days worth of usage from the thing.
What concerns me, personally is the stability of the Software.
I don't know, how much is the apps fault (fixable), or that of the device (I've read no mention of it being update-able).
I already wrote SE for a statement on the matter.
As it is now, the device regularly quits working.
It wont go further then showing you the watch (time and date).
Nothing else.
After turning it off and on again, it automatically connects again and works though (taking about 10 seconds and two button presses).
With that behavior it's quite unreliable for notifications (it's main purpose).
I hope, SE can somehow fix that.
Got mine from ldlc.com
work nice.
But I'm a little bit disapointed with my mw600 now. I don't understand why the LiveView can display my contact name and my music title and the mw600 not ....
Dear All Thanks for the application
can anybody post the other 7 applications for live view since i dont have the android market in my x10 mini pro

Can anybody please provide the updated version of liveview.apk?

Not really the point of the app. I know some people try to turn off data when the screen's off, and other such nonsense, but the app is made for much more than that. Think of it like automation software. You can have it turn your volume off or low when you're at work/school, start Pandora when it pairs with your car's Bluetooth, whatever you can think of. This is one of those fundamental apps that every rooted android user should have IMHO.
P.S. it's also my opinion that ever android user should be rooted, every smartphone user should have Android for their OS, and that everyone should own a smartphone
For me it says 2.86$ , if i try to buy it the total price is 3.02$ , what type of crap is that?
same here...so weird
is it diff country diff pricing?
damn OP beat me to it lol saw the news on android police xDD
anyways its $1.99 here NY (USA)
Just purchased, thanks a lot... Came out to $1.99 for me as well

I too bought it through PayPal a couple of years ago. Just bought it again as I like to have all my apps tied to the Play Store
$1.99 / €1.99 / £1.99
I've just checked dollars, euros and pounds (by spoofing locations) and it seems to be 1.99 of whichever currency from where I am (Ireland)
Bought in euros as it was easiest - not worth the saving to fanny about paying in dollars!
I bought AutomateIt pro a while back and regretted not having bought Tasker for some reason in the days following. I can't remember exactly why, but I bought Tasker this morning when I saw this sale - I'm sure I'll remember what it was I couldn't do with AutomateIt!
Tasker seems to have a new Holo UI which appears a bit more user friendly - will have a good play with it over the weekend
1,99€ for me... Well worth the price.
i paid full price for this and its worth it ten hundred times over, so at $1.99, this is a steal.
Tempting. While I don't use it it would be nice to automate my wifi for work and home.
Thanks for the heads up.
Bet he's been selling a lot due to the great xda TV videos.
I've been using llama on my Nexus devices (4, 7, 10) for a while and it is free.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kebab.Llama&hl=en
But Tasker for $1.99 is a good deal and it doesn't get discounted very often. Now if only Titanium Backup would on sale at that price I'll be all over it!
mine still $2.86
got it yesterday (just because $1.99 is still much better than ~$6.xx)
i have no use for it right now, but figured it was worth the purchase
Can someone explain me the following:
Why with this profile:
Cell Near
+
Time from X to Y ===> Wifi On (Set On in task)
+
Wifi Not Connected
My wifi keep toggling on and off constantly.
It is the only one active profile I have. So, it should search if i'm near a cell, check time and if wifi is not already turned on then turn it On. It shouldn't switch it off as i DON'T HAVE Exit task which would do it.
There is a profile setting which restores previous state
Another question - is there any way of setting priorities for "checks"? For example, some of them may require sensors to be used (which is power consuming) while others can just check variables in the memory (less consuming). So,if it is an AND condition of few checks then by ordering them in a right sequence I can make profile less power consuming. For example, why to check the second condition in AND statement if the first one is already false.
Order of checks doesn't matter

Maybe because the phone changes between different cells even if you don't move.
You have to add more cells to a location.

Jawbone UP or other????

Ive been looking for a good workout app + workout monitor. Jawbone seems to be pretty cool but ive checked all my local stores and no one sells it. Anyone use this personally or any other measuring device that syncs with your phone? Suggestions? Reviews?
Thanks!
I got a new one off CL for <$100. I like it. They sell them at Apple stores of all places and this guy worked there so was just making a little extra money on the side with his discount.
There aren't a whole lot of choices out there for Android users in this area. I think the Fidbit is the only other option. The Fidbit uses bluetooth to sync which a lot of people seem to like but I think it's a negative as you are forced to use unnecessary battery power from your phone. The upside is you can sync to your laptop or computer. The UP syncs with your phone via the headphone jack.
You've probably read about all the features so I won't list them again. It is not a heart beat monitor; it uses motionX technology, 3-axis accelerometer I believe, to monitor your "steps". It's best to wear on your non-dominant arm so you don't register as many fake steps. I really like the sleep mode as it tells you how long it took you to fall asleep, how many hours of light sleep, deep sleep, how many times you woke up, and it has a vibrating smart alarm that will wake you up at your alarm time +/- a certain number of minutes you set so it can try to wake you up during light sleep instead of deep sleep.
The app is well made and looks good with many graphing options to see trends in your steps, calorie intake, mood, sleep, etc. It also allows you to add your food for the day and add nutritional information if you can't find your food in their database. However, after using the myfitnesspal app for quite a while I find it is easier to use, better laid out, and has a much bigger database of foods, mostly because so many users have uploaded nutritional information for so many different foods. I find myself still using myfitnesspal instead of the built in UP food logging, but maybe I'm resisting change and haven't given it a fair chance.
The battery really does last a long time, 8-10 days per charge.
I'm happy with it, will continue to use it and hope they will improve their food logging database. I'm not sure I'd pay $130+ tax for it but maybe I'm cheap. Take a look on your local CL.

Bought mine off CL for $65 (REALLY good deal). Liking it so far. Went for the UP because it tracks sleep as well as steps, eating, mood, etc. And the android app was a must. Had this for a week and a half and am really liking the data provided.
Now my UP band is telling me it's time to MOVE again; gotta go. Good luck!
Just bought mines from best buy today. I had some stuff that I needed to return so I figured I would just exchange the stuff for the UP. I was really considering the fitbit flex but best buy was out of stock everywhere in my area so I figured I would try the UP and exchange for the flex later on once they are in stock and if I'm not happy with the UP. I'm really looking to be more conscious of my physical activities that's why I decided to go with one of these bands.

I've seen several posts saying the same thing in the UP forums. For me, with a used band, it's been working flawlessly for over two months.
Based on what I've read, I would try to buy from an Authorized retailer, or Jawbone itself. It appears as though they will immediately exchange any defective band if you do so. HTH
I am searching Jawbone site and it said that it is compatible with SELECT phones only. Not sure what makes it so, but I have a Galaxy Note and since the Jawbone Up does not have Bluetooth (Galaxy Note only have Bluetooth 3.0, not 4.0), what is it that will make this thing NOT working for other phone like the Galaxy Note?

It syncs through the audio jack, not Bluetooth. There are some older phones that it won't sync with for some reason and at one point it was having trouble with the HTC One - but I think that was fixed in an update. I would download the app and have it on my phone when I went shopping - that way you could test to make sure it would sync before you plopped down your hard-earned cash.
Also, FWIW, I found the app and sideloaded it onto my Galaxy Tab 8.9. (Google Play said it wasn't compatible.) Works okay, but some of the graphics are a little off.
I have a Bodymedia Link that works great. It syncs via Bluetooth and you can upload the data via your phone to their website. Mine was $99 and came with a six month subscription to the website. (The subscription thing kept me away from this device, but depending on where you buy it (like Costco), you can get up to a year's subscription free.)
Here's a link to their site, but I purchased my BM via eBay:
http://www.bodymedia.com
I also have a FitBit and the numbers seem pretty consistent between the two - but I prefer the BodyMedia. I think Jawbone recently purchased BodyMedia.
Here's a recent comparison article on activity trackers:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2404445,00.asp
LG is supposed to come out with a pretty impressive tracker. Waiting to hear if it tracks sleep as well.

Does the N1 have sleep/wake functionality?

I've just received my new N1 (with Play Store pre-installed!) and have also pre-bought a couple of cases from ebay which both state they are smart cases which have sleep/wake functionality. The problem is that neither cases works having no effect on the tablet at all.
So I'm wondering if the tablet itself actually has this functionality. If it doesn't it will be a real deal breaker for me. I am not going back to endlessly clicking to sleep a tablet, especially the amount of times I use it every day.
I can, in fact, answer my own question here and for anyone else wondering as I've sent out a few emails and have now got the responses.
I can confirm that the N1 DOES NOT have sleep/wake functionality! Astonishing that such a basic rudimentary feature wasn't installed on this tablet. I can also conform that it will not make an audible sound when plugged in to charge to confirm charging is activated/on, you know, like every other contemporary phone or tablet!
If you couple this with the lack SD Card expandability and their idiotic marketing/sales program for this tablet you can only say that Nokia have scored one massive own-goal.
It's so disappointing for a tablet which showed plenty of promise. The only option now looks to wait for Asus Zenpad 8 S with 4gb storage. Now THIS is what Nokia should have been making.
Double tap screen can wakeup.
I believe that it should came native with Android M. So hopefully it will get it.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy the n1 that it came with the play store?
Looking for one...

Bought one of these.... http://www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/nokia-n1-32gb-wifi-silver-en-2.html It comes pre-installed with all standard Google apps inc. Play Store. No need to root etc.
The feature may come native within Android M but if the device doesn't have the requisite hardware (magnet) then surely it just won't work. Such a massive oversight by Nokia.
I must pick up my tablet twenty times a day for both work and social and tbh I'm not going to start endlessly doubling tapping, it's so 2010. I've got used to the 'instant on' experience having owned numerous Samsung phones and tabs and also the MiPad so I'm not going back. I'll wager the Asus ZePad will come with it installed.

I purchased the tablet and I confirm it has the double tap functionality.
Amazing tablet by the way!
