[Q] Themeing Question - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was messing around with some of the icons and stuff in the framework-res.apk and I changed the status_bar_background.png, but its not showing up as the background of the status bar.
I'm running CM9 Beta4-Pre5.
Do I need to do something more than just replace the picture? It worked for just replacing the USB and USB connected pictures.
Thanks
Corey

If I remember correctly it only changes to that PNG during its animation. Like when installing an app it does an animation.

[Q] Where can I find the USB notification Icon?

I'm looking to give the white USB notification Icon a little color but I can't seem to find it. I've looked in com.htc.resources.apk and framework-res.apk under drawable-hdpi. I can see most notification Icons but not USB.
Anyone out there?
I think its in the framework-res.apk. look in the \res\drawable-hdpi folder

In a Sense ROM the USB icon is in the PCSCII.apk, its not in the framework. On a AOSP ROM its in the framework-res.apk.

I'm having trouble finding another one. Where might I find notification icons for Successful/Unsuccessful Installs?

[Q] USB system icon theming help

Hey guys i've ran into a problem that maybe one of you experienced themers can help with. I am running Lou's Redemptive rEVOlutionn rom and decided the status bar and icons were too stock looking so I decided to replace them with another one. Well I went into framework-res and com.htc.resources and replaced everything I wanted to change then rebooted, after rebooting my phone everything was what I wanted it to be but when I plugged my phone back into my computer and the usb icon came up it was the same icon as before. I went back into framework-res and double checked to make sure I replaced the usb icon and yet assured I did. So I am at a loss here, i've been searching for other places where the icon would be and haven't found it anywhere besides the framework-res apk. Can anyone help me out?

UOT Kitchen

Hello people. I'm seeing alot of battery mod threads but if you want a little more customisation head over to the UOT kitchen and bake your own framework/system ui.
I did it yesterday and it worked perfectly. You just need clockwork recovery and your away.
Link : http://uot.dakra.lt/
Be sure to head over to this thread and hit thanks. Mendozinas put in alot of work :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
I'm just putting this out there for people new to android or that don't know about the kitchen.
Its a great tool!
Enjoy!
Great heads up, i see ti now works with stock ROM's as well, wish they would add the CRT effect though.
this is a good website but unfortunately all that it changes for me is the battery icon and nothing else on status bar or notification area, i am confused whats up with it, its not just this its every theme i try to install does the same
well, the main prob with kitchen and our phones (S series and S2 too) is Touchwizz.
modifications via kitchen only affect framework-res.apk ;touchwizz needs modifications on twframework too.
knowing this, you can still use kitchen for :
-battery icons.
-notification icons
-glowing (at least for sliders bars and a part of the pop-up windows IF they aren't managed by twframework ).
haven't tried mods on status bars yet with my S2 but they were ok with my old galaxy S so it's probably the same.
P.S :
as always with themes, don't forget to wipe cache and dalvik cache after applying it viaCWM
hope it helps
Can someone provide me framework-res.apk and systemui.apk from stock KE7? Thanks.
How to submit it? I selected what I needed, uploaded framework-res.apk and systemui.apk but when I click Submit button nothing happens!
OK, I figured it out. But I can't select 'Transparent Status Bar' only, I don't want any modifications on status bar but just to make it Transparent! Maybe it's not allowed!

Can you choose status bar then not put a tick in the box for icons?
That should work.

It's working now
Well the Transparent Bar is not working for me. Just for me I just selected only Transparent Bar and nothing else, but it's the same damn black status bar in the end
Try with ADW launcher for the transparent statusbar and disable wallpaper hack
Hey all,
Just having an issue with UOT kitchen ever since I flashed to Lite'ning ROM 1.4 on KF1. Getting SHTF errors every time I try to cook files now, anyone else having this issue?
I created my first theme and it worked, however i lost the screen capture feature, does anyone know why?
Hi mendozinas,
Because i have changed my phone to GS S2(i9100) and would you please tell me this version UOT Kitchen whether support GS S2(i9100) + SpeedMod SGS2 [K1-T31 CWM4 CIFS ROOT] ?
Thanks!
I've cooked my battery icon for xxkg1 2.3.3 but i'm asking if is it possible to use the "SCB with %" (Version C, New charger for example) and hybrid charge animation.

Hi all, hope your well.
Thank you directing us to the kithen. I have tried to use but seem to have an issue. When I select a mod, and click generate preview, it doesnt do it. It tries to generate it but then just times out. Anyone else had/having the same issue? Am I missing something or could it just be my internet?
Everything else works fine on my internet.
Thanks in advance guys!!
EDIT: Sorted. It just started to work.

Connectivity icons

Hi guys.
I was just wondering about something. After flashing gummy 0.8.2 rom on my gnex, the internett connectivity icons in the status bar(mobile data+wifi) won't change color from grey to blue. Connectivity seems to be just fine.
Any ideas?
Thx
That's just the way the Nexus is for some reason. You can change the icons in SystemUI.apk so that they are blue when connected.

If you'd like I can walk you through changing out the icons. I'm running gummy as well and I did this about 2 weeks ago. lol. I used an app called ninjamorph from the market. Lets you navigate like a file explorer to swap out the images in any apk you'd like and even backs up the original if anything goes wrong or you decide to go back to the original. I set mine up so they're always blue when connected since I noticed that the radio fully connects fairly quick I didn't see a reason to have them grey first.
But is this rom spesific? Everything was normal when i used cm9 and modaco. Anyone else get this with gummy rom?

Assuming that the icons are properly displaying, it means that one or more of your Google services aren't fully synced. Grey means you're not fully connected to Google. Check things like background sync and Google talk.

It's a known issue on gummy. Everything connects fine.
Thank you guys, and as much as i appreciate the offer, a guide won't be necsesary.

NinjaMorph Help

Hi everyone. I would just like some help on using NinjaMorph. I wanted to mess around with the status bar icons and change the colors of icons but it didnt work. I started a new project, and went to "SystemUI.apk/Res/Drawable-hdpi" and i changed the color of the "4G" icon to purple just to see what would happen. I saved it and everything but it didnt change colors. I tried it with a few other status bar icons to no avail. I also tried rebooting. Also, im running the ICS 4.0.3 leak. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: Does anyone know how to change the signal icon to have 6 bars instead of 5 on the ICS leak? And does anyone know how to completely get rid of the clock from the status bar? Annnnddd does anyone know how to add the bar at the bottom of the screen that allows you to multitask, go back, and go home? Cause i see the icons in "SystemUI.apk/Res/Drawable-hdpi" but i want to actually have a working bottom bar there. Thanks to anyone who helps my little crisis here. Lol

I tried changing the no signal icon in both framework Res and system UI..hmm also I noticed in system UI.apk that there was a 6 bar signal strength icon thing. How can I activate that so I have 6 bars instead of 5?
