[Q] Rogers Lumia 900 for use with Fido - Nokia Lumia 900

I did hit the search button with no definitive answers.
Does the Lumia 900, bought from a Rogers reseller, then unlocked, then used with a Fido Micro-Sim (already working in a Lumia 800) will have Tethering active (or or can be activated) without additional fees (other than paying for a real data plan, which I already have) ?
Fido does not have any LTE activated, am I right? Don't really care, just to clarify.
Can the Rogers-specific apps be uninstalled?
Is the Nokia Network Setup app available and installable (was installable before on my 800, but now says unavailable for my device in the marketplace, but still works on the phone)?
Phone will have Rogers logo on startup and Rogers colors (Red) instead of the Nokia blue? And since there's no generic Rom's (yet), it is not possible (yet) for North America to unbrand it?
On the same subject, would it be possible to flash the rom with a generic one from the RM-823 list, without 'deactivating' the North American bands (and not 'activating' the european bands)?
Are there manual Cab updates for the 900? I have unbranded phones since 2004 and don't want to be dependent on the original carrier for those important updates that may not be considered important for Rogers.
A few questions, but I don't want to buy a $525+ tax device that will not be as likable as my factory unlocked/unbranded Lumia 800.

Not sure I can answer everything but Fido does not have LTE. In fact I don't even think they have 4G. I'm not sure if tethering works or not. Yes the Rogers apps can be removed easily. Yes Rogers logo will be on bootup. Not sure if you can flash unbranded rom yet since we've seen no luck with AT&T model either. Nokia apps will be available for it as per whatever is in the Nokia section of the Marketplace. No their arent any cab updates. There was the last update which was available for all phones to force the missing keyboard update and could be installed by cab files but that's all I've seen since.

Some of my questions were answered in my research.
Thethering is a gray zone. No definitive answers.
Fido = 4G max. No LTE (yet). It may be announced as a back to school promotion a Fido rep told me. But would require a new SIM card which support LTE?
Uninstall Rogers crap = yes.
Nokia Network Setup app, still not available (as per Marketplace) on my 800, which seems to a North-American 'problem' (there's a topic on Nokia suppot on this). This needs to be confirmed or infirmed by someone who can install or update with a North-American Sim.
Branding may be removable if flashed with a generic rom from Europe, if the radio part is not affected by a flash (as with the 800).
Cabs have been seen, so manual updates = yes.

My experiences on Fido with Lumia 900
Hi,
I would love to hear other peoples experiences with the Lumia on Fido. I am going to mention mine below and would love to hear if any others have experienced the same.
First I would like to say I really enjoy the Lumia 900 although I do have some qwirks that I will mention.
As mentioned previously you can remove the Rogers apps since they don't work. The rogers branding does show up on start up which doesn't bother me that much.
What does bother me is that the phone seems to be slower loading data then Samsung Focus I previously used when on the cellular data. When on Wifi the phone is blazing fast.
I did reset the phone with the Fido sim in it as I initially didn't have it in on setup but it still seems slow when browsing in the browser or even in the market places.
On that note my experience is that this phone switches bands quite frequently in places none of my phones have ever done so. For example the Lumia in Toronto near the airport will drop to Edge and I don't remember ever seeing my focus drop to edge near the airport. The lumia in fact will drop to G here in Nova Scotia where I am temporarily working where I never had an issue on my Focus.
This can cause using the data functions on the phone to be frustrating at times. I would love to hear if anyone else has experienced this.
Thank you and please feel free to ask specific questions about using with Fido.
Thank you.

[Q] do I need to flash my radio to use TP2 abroad?

Hi there,
I'm totally confused as to what I need to do to get my Touch Pro 2 (currently activated on Boost CDMA) to work abroad, specifically Canada.
It is flashed with Energy ROM, Reference version.
Do I need to do a Radio flash? Do I need to tweak some settings? Both? Neither?
I'm going to be in Canada for 3 weeks and plan to use either Rogers or Fido's GSM Pay as You Go (already have the SIM cards), or Telus's CDMA Pay as You Go.
I've read the FAQs and generally understand that this is possible -- just not clear the route.
Thanks,
Simmy
The biggest problem with Canada is our carriers don't want people coming in and using their networks without paying for it, and that usually means your first born here.
The hardware problem is, the TP2 will not work on the frequencies in Canada that Telus has used for the HSPA / 4G network. And using the current CDMA network is not possible either because Telus and Bell will not allow you to put branded phones from other companies on the old network and CDMA systems don't use SIM cards. So if your planning on bringing the TP2 up here I think you may be out of luck.
I took the TP2 to Ireland and was able to use the frequencies there on the O2 network, but to do that I had to unlock the phone and as i have the "world edition" with the SIM card slot once unlocked it worked over there no issue, and returned working over here with no SIM card in it. But again this is a frequency issue and telus tells us it won't work.
Now if when you get here, and you plug a sim card in and it does work, please share, because it means we can manually add frequencies and hook to both the old and new network. And some of us with the original unlimited data contracts (no 10 gig cap) would be really happy to know this.
As for Rogers, i can't tell you. I don't know if they have ever had the TP2 and have no clue what frequency they are using for their phones, though i'm sure it's similar.
Flashing the radio does nothing to add radios or affect your ability to connect to the network while abroad. Its usually just done to improve reception and/or battery life.
You will need your phone SIM unlocked. Then, as the post above suggests, either putting in the SIM works, or it doesn't.
Thanks to both of you for your reply.
So the TP2 won't work on any Canadian CDMA networks, but since it also has GSM, if I stick a Rogers or Fido SIM card in it, it *may* work. In fact, I believe it *should* work. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
And thanks for answering my question re: radio ROMs, Redpoint -- that's what I thought, but was still confused about.
So, with respect to unlocking, is the Olipro page that charges 11 pounds / 14 euros / $20 my best/cheapest option? (unfortunately, i can't link to it here because I'm a new member)
Thank muchly,
Simmy
The device should have no trouble connecting to a normal GSM network in Canada. The Canadian GSM networks use the GSM-1900 and GSM-850 bands. The CDMA Rhodiums use a quad band frequency that spans all of 850/900/1800/1900 MHz channels. You should have no problems in Canada. Enjoy your trip.
You do not need to flash a new radio to have it work in Canada.

Rogers Nokia Lumia 900

The people that pre-ordered from Rogers would be receiving units by now. Anything unique besides the branding ? Are features same? And what are the frequenecies listed on the side of the box? (pics please)
Anything else different or unique from what has been written about the AT&T model, please post here.
Picked up the Lumia 900 from my local Rogers store yesterday as soon as I got the call.
As you mentioned, the box is slightly different than what I've seen from the AT&T unboxing videos.
The unit itself thankfully has no Rogers branding whatsoever on it, so the Nokia logo is nicely centered unlike the AT&T version.
Another thing of note I guess is that the rogers version comes with a nokia in-ear headset (albeit cheap-looking).
Everything else is pretty much the same as the ATT (except no "Do not TXT and Drive" warning adhesive on device, just clear plastic ).
Sorry for no pics but I can list the frequencies for you that is on side of box:
Nokia 900.1 RM -808 ROGCA Black
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 WCDMA/HSPA 850/900/1700/1900/2100
Hope that helps!

Pics of the HSPA Bands? I wonder if the ATT version just has the 900/1700 bands disabled through firmware

HELLO !!! Those specs are very nice !! If those bands are true
WCDMA/HSPA 850/900/1700/1900/2100, then if unlocked should work quite nicely with Mobilicity. T-Mobile people in the USA will want to take note !
I'll have to see if Rogers store has got any to sell. I'm not a Rogers customer and could not do a pre-order.
you guys could go to the website lol.
heres a pic, sorry for my awesome circle

There IS a Rogers boot logo when you start up the phone unfortunately. Rogers also preinstalled a few apps but like all WPs, these are removable.
(Got mine yesterday as well)
Love to see a pic of the front. These are unlocked?

Well in typical fashion what is stated on the website and what is on the side of the box don't match ! This is why I ask the question because websites are hand typed by humans and they get it wrong. Especially at Rogers ! When I bought my Lumia 710 there, the specs on the website had no mention of 1700/2100 bands, yet the box had it listed. I unlocked my 710 and works like a charm on Mobilicity.
The box for the Lumia 900 is exactly what the 710 has, and there is no mention of LTE bands on the box at all. So more investigation is needed. But this is very encouraging to see.
I have verified at a WirelessWave kiosk (they had stock), and called a few Rogers store, and found a 1 store with stock. I would have bought it at WirelessWave but they would only sell off contract with a protection plan. The protection plan was another $100. No thanks!
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 WCDMA/HSPA 850/900/1700/1900/2100
On my way out the door in 10 minutes. Need to do some more reading first.
If these are unlockable and have unrestricted tethering I think we have a real winner on our hands for using with T-Mobile.
What is the tethering situation?
It has potential. Here is a picture from the unit that I just bought. No pre-order, no waiting, just called around to see who had stock. Rogers store just south of me had them. I asked if they would sell off contract and they said sure. Went to store, no muss no fuss, checked the spec before making purchase, and here is the picture!
Will try to unlock now. I suspect that might take a day or two by the sounds of things.
Okay... paid for unlock code.. 35 minutes later... it arrived !
Now the snag... seems I'm not getting any reception. Wireless (WiFi) works, but no cell reception or carrier name coming up.
Checking in Nokia Apps, there is no Network Setup App on the phone or appearing to be available in the Market Place. Uh-oh....
Anyone got any suggestions?
Well...
I'm also with Mobilicity and I've been waiting on a confirmation that the phone has the AWS Band 4 frequency (1700). I'm afraid to say that the Lumia 900 clearly doesn't have the necessary bands even though the box says it does. I got my hopes up too, but it seems pretty definitive here. If you unlocked it and popped in the Sim card you should get phone reception no problem, you would only need the network app to configure the Data, but phone should definitely show bars within a min or so.
This blows big time. I say return it now that you've confirmed it doesn't have the frequency. But, complain big time to Nokia, because this is not right! Absolutely ridiculous that the box lists the frequency!
Hmm... in Settings>system>cellular right now. Punched in the APN. It does find Bell, Telus and CDN Roaming. No matter what Mobilicity or Wind is not there. Not giving up on this yet....
but,
that's the settings for data. If the phone had the 1700 frequency it would work on it's own, at least the phone. You'd be able to make and receive calls. Every phone I ever used, once you pop in the SIM card, if it has the frequency it will work at least to make calls. I don't see what can be done. The settings on the phone are limited, even IF it has the frequency and it's been disabled or something, nothing we can do, we can't enable it
I'm bummed about this too. I have the Lumia 710 on Mobilicity and was hoping this bad boy would work.
Try restarting the phone, pulling out the battery for 30 sec, and doing a hard reset....although I don't think it would do much. Let me know.
---------- Post added at 04:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:31 AM ----------
oops, forgot battery can't be pulled.
Yes... it could be Rogers has some kind of other lock on it ? When WiFi is tunred on I can surf no issue. I went to the Market Place and the Network Setup App is not there. Could be Rogers has a profile setup on the phone and that cannot be changed?
I have a Lumia 710 as well and that is on Mobilicity with no issue other than standard unlock. I think the bands are right on the box (I took a pic and posted) but seems there is some other kind of lock.
PS: the 900 is a completely sealed phone... cannot pull battery. Will try a factory reset though.

According to Nokia, the Lumia 710 doesn't even HAVE the 1700MHz frequency. So how does it work exactly?
Update: Ok, so the US page has WCDMA Band IV which is 1700 for the Lumia 710. The Lumia 900 has LTE Band 4 which is 1700. Does Wind/Mobilicity support LTE?

I've been using the Nokia Lumia 710 from Rogers for well over a month now on Mobilicity. Was hoping the Lumia 900 would work is same fashion. I'm close but I think Rogers has got it locked down more than standard lock.
okay.. here is the picture again of the label that is on the box for the Rogers Nokia Lumia 900. It clearly reads:
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 WCDMA/HSPA 850/900/1700/1900/2100

Rogers Nokia Lumia 900 on Mobilicity and WIND

Starting this thread to help document the specific findings and phone behaviour along with network quirks.
So we have a base line I am on Mobilicity with their $55 unlimited everything (calls, texts, data) plan which I went for the 50% off promo and it's $27.50 a month. I just picked up the Rogers Nokia Lumia 900 last night (already have the Lumia 710 from Rogers) and was lucky enough to pay for an unlock code and receive it in 35 minutes last night as well.
Other details are that I seem to be picking up CDN Roaming as a network and the other networks diplayed are Bell and Telus (no Rogers showing network). It could be showing CDN Roaming since it a Rogers phone unlocked, but my 710 does show Mobilicity. The 900 is lacking the Nokia Network Setup app and it's no longer downloadable from the Market Place. My 710 did have the app preinstalled.
I was having some significant issues with the phone last night. Not sure if it was me, the phone or the network. I did bring it to work and had a chance to show a co-worker the phone after 5PM. I told him what was going on. He says pop in the SIM and lets' see. Well... I now get CDN Roaming all the time and had to turn on roaming to get it to that state. Bars are anywhere from 2 to 4. Also trying to make an actual call, the bars will disappear and a small "do not enter" symbol is over the greyed out bars, but the call is still connected !! I will check my Mobilicity account to see if the phone is actually roaming, or the phone is just telling me it's roaming but its actually not.
Data does work as I tried basic web surfing on the browser, but it seems quite slow. Not sure if there's any tweaking I can do. So it does work but in a quirky way. I will now continue to fiddle with it to see what I can do for improvements.
Any comments or suggestions, please write them here.....
also I'm adding a pic of the phone label to show the bands that are listed from the factory. Not sure how I can confirm if these frequency bands are correct or not.
okay, definately there is no way of connecting from home location. I either get "no service" or "Emergency Only" displayed on the phone. I also checked on the calls I was able to make earlier today with a co-worker and they were billed as roaming calls. Not looking to promising that this phone will work. Will give it another half hour but the fact that the 4 calls I made today were billed as roaming calls, is putting a damper on things.
Did you end up calling Nokia?
That would be the only real way to find out if Band 4 (1700/2100) is capable of non-LTE connection.
Also, the Nokia Network Setup app only adjusts SMS, voicemail, and data settings. I don't think it would help in this situation.
No... didn't want to call Nokia until I could confirm performance. It's definately not working correctly at home location. My Lumia 710 works perfectly. I wonder if it could be the same issue of connections that the AT&T units have? Seems AT&T and Rogers are giving account holders $100 for the trouble.
I think I am just going to return it unless somone in the forum wants to buy it from me ? I will throw in the unlock for free ! Although it seems it would only work for Bell and Telus.

It should work on the sub-operators like Fido, Koodo, etc, too.
despite what the label on the box reads, here is the official Nokia Canada website....

The 1700/2100 are definately LTE.

I've contacted Nokia via both email and twitter asking if LTE Band 4 is backwards compatible with W-CDMA. We shall see...
Hey bud i just got one too in black. Tried it out on wind mobile. Exact same problem. Luckily Bell/Chatr/Fido work.
I heard about this baseband modification thing. I really like this phone and hope i can get it to work on Wind. I just upgraded from the HD7... well i still use it cause wind wont work on this.
I just got off the phone with Nokia and they told me that the Lumia 900 does indeed support Band 4 with WCDMA.
So either the lady I talked to was wrong, or there is something else going on here.
All I know is it was not working for me.
And trust me I've have plenty of cell phones and smart phones over the years. I suffered enough with a Rogers Samsung Focus on FIDO long enough that iIwasn't putting up with any kind of non-compatibility. So yes the label says one thing and that's why I bought it, but I have to go with the specs listed on the Nokia Canada website this time around.
BTW... sold the phone on Kijiji within 4 hours !
have you try to turn off both 2G(GSM) and LTE, leave only the 3G WCDMA and see if you can manual scan out wind/mobility/tmobile on it?
And also this might be the Micro SIm issue, since offically Mobility and Wind don't have a Micro Sim, and the mini Sim cutting might not work, > just saw another post from t-mobile threadmentioned the Sim card cutter not work s on Lumia 900.
Thinking of this phone too, using N8 with both rogers and Wind works on, so really wish it supports Wind too.

I sold the phone long ago so can't test anything else. Maybe once Rogers releases the update and if somone want to unlock their phone, I am willing to test with my SIM card. Yes it was a regular sim cut down to microSIM (works in my lumia 710).
This ad seems to suggest the 900 works on Mobilicity !?
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-...-Mobilicity-Phones-SPECIAL-W0QQAdIdZ372455155
I've send them an email but I doubt they will respond.
Is there anyone out there with an unlocked Rogers Nokia Lumia that has been updated willing to let me test my Mobilicity SIM card ? Or alternatively, I'm willing to pay for an unlock code if I can do some testing with your phone. The unlock code should be $9 or less anyway. If you are in Markham/Richmond Hill area (north of Toronto) and willing to try, let me know.
I don't have Wind/Mobilicity line, but I noticed when I search for available networks on my Lumia 900 (which btw I am using on a TELUS line), neither Wind nor Mobilicity show up as available network. All it shows is Bell, Telus and Rogers.
Mobilicity on unlocked 900 - a work in progress
Hello good folks.
I've been reading XDA for awhile but stayed quiet in the background until I have something good to share.
Quick background: I've mod iphone 2G, 3G, Andriod Galaxy Nexus S, and worked on WP7 and WP 7.5 on the Lumia 800, 900 and HTC HD7. I have active Bell, Rogers and Mobilicity lines for testing.
I went through hell and back to try to get the 900 to work on Mobilicity and still with no success, yet.
Here's the snippet:
I cut my Mobilicity normal SIM chip with razor sharp hair shear to the micro sim chip size. I made sure the SIM chip board marking lined up with another Micro-sim I had;
Popped in the now downsized Mobilicity SIM into the Rogers Lumia 900;
It recognizes it as an active chip and displays the locked phone message;
I went to cellunlocker dot net to purchase the unlock code for $16;
Voila, phone is now unlocked;
Inserted in the mobilicity chip and it doesn't pick up the network automatically;
Tried switching network setting to AUTO\ 4G, reboot then 3G, reboot then Edge... nothing worked. Then tried the same series of testing with Network Selection for each network type;
Punched in dial code to access the field test area ##3282# ;
In 3G WDCMA, it shows "RRCStatus Disconnected" even though it picks up all the other settings in the WCDMA field. Crap!
Went to Mobilicity to get an official Micro-SIM designed for their 710, just in case the cutting affected the chip. No success;
Had them activate their micro sim chip. No success;
I called up Nokia support and they couldn'tr troubleshoot it. They also tried the explanation that if I unlocked the phone that they would not TS it but I said I am working for Mr Ballmer and was doing test case studies with this phone and needed it to work in unlock mode. I also indirecty worked for Rogers too on a different technology, so I could easily contacted who I needed to inside Rogers for the unlock code if need be (I would need a name though).
So the conversation continued and they directed me to go to the Nokia service center in Newmarket Ontario;
Hopped into the car and drove while I still had the official active micro-sim from mobilicity and checking it during the drive to see if it picks up any signal.
Passing north of Toronto into the Aurora area, I noticed the phone automatically picked up the CDN Roaming labelled network! I tried dialing out, failed.
I arrived at the service center, called Flextronic (213 Harry Walkers Parkway South, Newmarket, Ontario);
Long story short, the engineer did not know how to work on or troubleshoot the Nokia 900 yet. He said usually Nokia would send down their own engineer to train Flextronic on how to TS and code configure the 900. They currently only knew the 710. I asked if anything he knew from the 710 could help configure the 900 RRCStatus from disconnected to connected, says no.
Drove back south to Toronto and once I entered TO, I lost the CDN Roaming connection and it could no longer pick up any network.
Side Note:
Once the 900 was code unlocked, I was able to plug in my Bell micro-sim and it worked.
I pluged in my Rogers micro-sim and it worked too for obvious reason.
I wished we weren't stuck with the Rogers version of the OSPL. It annoys me to even see the Rogers logo when it boots up. My 800 is direct from Nokia marketing so it's never been locked and doesn't have any carrier mucking with the OS or the OSPL. Unfortunately it doesn't support the Band IV, 1700 wave.
Cheers and hope this saves you time from trying out the steps above.
Great summary !
Yes I too got CDN Roaming in the 404/Major Mackenzie area and actually was able to make calls (had money in the "my wallet" account). It actually charged out as roaming as funds were less in the account when I checked it from home.
Luckily I had limited the calls so I was down about 60 cents.
Rogers probably had the phone programed much like AT&T did so you can't use it on AWS networks. Kind of cuts the competition in half so to speak.
Wish there was a Microsoft store in Canada like they have in the USA, but not sure if the phones would be totally wide open for all networks.
Should be interesting to see what happens during Microsoft's World Partner Conference this coming July in Toronto. I understand there is about 15,000 people from around the world attending. My suspicions are Windows 8 will be launched and there will be more phones and tablets introduced that will run the platform. Should be a spectacle to see. About 7 weeks to go. Can't wait !

This model simply does not have HSPA band IV (AWS 1700/2100). The EMEA model lacks LTE, but has pentaband HSPA. You can't use the Rogers or AT&T model (which has the same hardware) on AWS only providers like Mobilicity or WIND.
let's hope a true AWS 1700/2100 model becomes available soon.
This might get slightly off topic but there is a BIG announcement coming from Microsoft on Monday. Likely it's for Microsoft Tablet, but who knows maybe it's more phones in preparation for new OS ?

have you try to turn off both 2G(GSM) and LTE, leave only the 3G WCDMA and see if you can manual scan out wind/mobility/tmobile on it?
And also this might be the Micro SIm issue, since offically Mobility and Wind don't have a Micro Sim, and the mini Sim cutting might not work, > just saw another post from t-mobile threadmentioned the Sim card cutter not work s on Lumia 900.
Thinking of this phone too, using N8 with both rogers and Wind works on, so really wish it supports Wind too.

I had my SIM card (Rogers) from my Galaxy Note cut yesterday and it DOES work in my Nokia Lumia 900 with no issues.
Just wanted to advise...

White Docomo Gnex from newegg on Tmo 3g/4g?

I've read on the tmobile forums that people have had problems using international versions of the gnex on tmobile's 3g/4g. I guess some of the models are only quadband and that the us model is pentaband? I wanted to get the white one. smGGsm(dot)com says the one they are selling doesn't work with tmo 3g.
I've been looking to order a white one from newegg. From what I understand newegg imports the Docomo model, which is from hong kong I believe.
quoted from newegg -"GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
UMTS 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 MHz"
Judging by that it should work, since tmo 3/4g is 1700/2100, am I right?
All of the GSM models are pentaband and will work on T-Mobile fully (yes 1700/2100mhz)
Docomo is a Japanese carrier. They're imported from Japan and SIM unlocked then resold.
I personally wouldn't recommend a Docomo model unless you're getting a fantastic deal. You don't get a warranty with these models and many people have been having problems with the SIM unlock not sticking when resetting and flashing ROMs on the device. The GNex is available from the Play Store perfect and unlocked for $350, why risk it with anyone else and not even get a warranty? If you must have a white one, you can buy the white housing and swap it yourself.
Well, my plan was to get it and just flash the yakju firmware on it so I can get the updates from google and then leave it pretty much stock. Are people having issues with the sim unlock when doing this?
Few shortcomings

I bought the Docomo few weeks before Google started to sell it directly at Play. No problems except mine came with the generic IMEI. I made the mistake of trying Google Wallet before properly changing back to unique IMEI & now I'm "banned" from using Google Wallet on my GNex.
"4G" works just fine on T-Mobile, but I agree with the other poster that I would definitely go direct from Google if I were you. I just didn't have that option when I purchased mine...
Otherwise, a fantastic purchase. I upgraded from N1 and no regrets..I am annoyed by the GPS problem that is plaguing people (including me) for the last several days.

is the GPS problem specific to the Docomo phone?

[Q] Has anyone flash Rogers 7.8 rom to AT&T

I have an AT&T Lumia 900 and I noticed that it has only English and Espanol language. I noticed that Rogers' 7.8 Rom is 60MB larger and I guess it will come with Chinese language too.
I wonder if I can flash Rogers' ROM to AT&T Lumia 900? Has anyone try this option?
Flash Rogers' Lumia 900 (RM-808) 2175.2301.9779.12222 (059P7D1) ROM to AT&T Lumia 900 (RM-808) 2175.2301.8779.12223 (059M7R3)

Not sure if this is going to be helpful, but I have an unlocked Lumia 900, which came from Rogers. I updated it on january to 7.8 with zune when Microsoft released the update, but I was annoyed by the fact that internet sharing still didn't work (it was not working on 7.5). After learning that the issue was because a restriction Rogers puts in place, I read that some were having success flashing the TELCEL MX variant ROM with Nokia Care suite to the Rogers Lumia. I tried to do that, but the Nokia Care Suite refused to flash that ROM, since the product code of my phone (Rogers cyan Lumia 900) didn't match the product code of the ROM I was trying to flash. But then I downgraded the phone to 7.5 again using Nokia Care Suite (the corresponding Rogers cyan 7.5 ROM), and while being on 7.5, Nokia Care Suite happily flashed the phone with the TELCEL MX ROM. Then I upgraded to 7.8 with zune. Now Internet Sharing works (and as an added bonus, the phone is unbranded).
Long story short: If you have already upgraded to 7.8 (which I assume you have), then downgrade to your corresponding 7.5 ROM, and then try flashing with Nokia Care Suite the ROM of your preference (as long as the ROM you chose belongs to the same product, RM-808 ROM to a RM-808 phone, or RM-823 to a RM-823 phone). I personally recommend the TELCEL MX LTE variant (for a RM-808 phone), since internet sharing works, and it has the language you are looking for.
Nice find. Unfortunately this works only on the Rogers devices... AT&T version doesn't.
Connection sharing working on ATT branded

Not sure about the language packs but my ATT branded but unlocked lumia 900 has internet connection sharing working using TMobile sim. I used it for months as my only home internet since Brooklyn NY was on 1900MHZ. I'll need to try if it still works using net 10 ATT sim
Good to know

I thought the AT&T Lumia 900s could only get 2G connections. Very interesting.
Is it possible to extract the language from this Telcel mx Rom ? And send it with cap Sender to att Rom ?
