Hi all, im new here, i have just rooted my DHD and tried a few ROMs and liked the Blackout ICS XL the most, the problem is that the music app seems to be laggy, its like this, the music is playing and i lock the screen there is a hiccup, i unlock the screen there is a hiccup in the song a really small one but irritating as hell....
i tried searching for it on the forums and in the main thread and found nothing, is it something wrong with my phone or is this just a bug that is there? i have done a full wipe, with cache and dalvik cache cleaned as well, have not changed anything else really.
Any help much appreciated.
Same thing happened to me. And I moved back to my previous sense 3.5 ROM and problem persists. I didn't have that problem before!! So it would be great if someone could help us!
I have tried lord clockans ice cold sandwich and the music is fine now, do not know why yours isn't

This is my first post here and I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me. I've checked other threads and have not found anything that seems like a solution.
Before rooting my phone, I would get keyboard lag randomly when trying to type an SMS. The lag only occurred with the landscape keyboard and only sometimes. To describe it, I would be hitting the keys, typing fine, and then it suddenly no letters would show up when I hit them. A few seconds later, the letters would all show, with no correction or word suggestion.
About a week ago I rooted my phone and I have been running Virtuous v3.1 with INCredible REVOlution theme and the HTC_IME keyboard. I had the stock kernel running and had the same keyboard lag. I switched to the Virtuous custom Kernel and continued to have the problem. I am currently running Adrynalyne's battery.zip kernel for battery life, but continue to have the lag.
Before it is suggested, I switched back to the stock, touch input keyboard and have the lag there too.
If there are any suggestions as to what I can do, please help
(side note: I tried MIUI for a short time and did not notice keyboard lag there, though I only had it running for a few hours)
no answers here but I've had the same issue with swype on cm6 and desire z port. it'll lag randomly and the trace stops then it'll jump and catch up

I'm using the stock messenger app.
Oh I have no idea I randomly get a lot of lag using handcent but it feels like that's caused by messages getting "stuck" and not fully coming.through

I've tried flashing Cyanogenmod and there was no keyboard lag there either, seems to only happen with any sense based roms. It really sucks because I really like Virtuous but I might have to get used to MIUI or Cyanogenmod just so that I can type my texts without lag...

I'm running the stock sense 2.2 and I don't have any lag at all. Backup your ROM and try it out.
It seems that any sense rom, stock or not, makes the keyboard lag, any AOSP rom does not. Looks like I'll be sticking with cyanogenmod for a while.
Just wondering what roms fellow TELUS Desire HD users are using, and if you're experiencing any mass bugs? I'm currently running ARHD 3 with sense. After install I still needed to install the telus/inspire audio fix because prior to it my calls sounded horrible. I haven't played much with setcpu, but have pushed my CPU up to 1.2ghz for a bit. The first Rom I used was raidroid and as of yet I haven't flashed any custom kernels. I've also flashed the elequant blue theme for a quick change but I'm already becoming restless. For the record though everything seems to be running fine eg. WiFi, video, weather. Also note - before ARHD 3 I did a full wipe. So what are your suggestions for a different kernel or do you think there is a better alternative rom, or ones to stay clear of for now?
My Telus DHD with ARHD 3.0 has one bug in it, It wont let me connect to the mobile network. When I try to turn it on it just gets stuck at "Turning On" and doesn't progress. If anyone knows what i need to do to fix it (other than flashing ARHD 2.1), it would be much appreciated
I'm running CyanogenMod 7 nightly #11 on my Telus desire HD. Been pretty happy with it, no major issues or bugs.

Did you do a full wipe before flash? Also I flashed Telus Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 awhile back (via usb/pc not clockwork mod). Lastly I used APN Manager to backup my APN before I ever flashed any roms and then I reinstall and restore my APN backup everytime I flash a new rom. Did you configure your APN?

Nice thats what I want to try next. Any extra effort required eg. Telus Kernal?
The only other thing I had to do was flash the inspire audio fix to get rid of the tinny sound.

Ill wait for #13. They say everything will be fixed in it and nothing more will be needed.
Decided to Try CoreDroid 3.1 Themed
Wow. I'm loving it. Blazing fast great battery life, and love the experience. My favorite so far for the speed and simplicity and the very subtle theme tweaks. You can tell they took their time getting this right. My only 2 beefs are that the home screen launcher bar looks almost like the basic stock one even though its menus are awesome, and I had to select United States english. But damn that's knit picking this rom is awesome. Also I had to flash the Inspire 4G/Telus audio fix for phone calls, and set APN manually. The only downside is when I finished completing a full wipe and flash of the ROM 3.1 they released 3.2 with an updated kernel. 3.2 is based on 1.84.661.1 and the recommended radio is 26.06.03.24_M2. Sounds like a perfect match for me to Telus. I'll let you know how it goes tonight.
Hello, I have installed JIBwich ICS for Desire Z from user xT4Z1N4TRx today. I think it is fastest ics ROM available right now and it could be used on daily basis. However one problem I seem to have with all ICS rooms I tried is this:
Code:
Basically all text on Apex launcher is scrambled up, sometimes it happens even in system settings.... it disappears after restarting, but it is back again in 10 minutes of use. When I tried GOlauncher everything seemed okay.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
Yes everyone is having this. If you would take the time to read through the ics topics you would have known this.
You dont need to restart your phone every time. Just kill the launcher and you good.

It's a known bug in the ICS roms.
Hi guys,
Anyone experience stuttering homescreens on their One X? I have every single page of my Launcher filled, I'm running Stock Sense and I am using the Sense Launcher.
Don't tell me 'simple fix; don't use all of your homescreens' when I was using my Desire HD, and even Desire this problem was not apparent.
I think it sucks that we have LiveWallpaper issues, Sense issues, boot issues (if near low battery), HTC have had plenty of bugs to iron out these problems! Not to mention Gingerbread kernel (oh daym)

If you can live without sense widgets, just use nova or apex. butter smooth but you can't use sense widgets

To me Sense is all part of the HTC experience. I'm sure in updates to come this will be fixed, but I would just like to double check I'm not the only person experiencing this issue. Not a chance am I getting rid of Sense :-D

here is the fix for the issue
[FIX] Ultra & Super Smooth Sense 4.0 Launcher (Rosie) + Supercharged
and here you can vote for HTC to officially remove the stupid thing causing the stutter
I talked to HTC Jeff Gordon about this and lets hope they listen
Hi hamdir,
I have been through the thread you provided the link to & tried to post there but was not allowed to. I have tried to install the ultrasmooth but am I still stuttering so I was wondering if you could take a look at what I'm doing because it's probably not correct. Apologies but this is my first android phone, which I only got yesterday & I don't understand a lot of the terminology. So this is what I have done so far:
Rooted phone, installed ARHD 6.0 & bricked kernel 3.0. To install ultrasmooth I have -
Downloaded version for 1.29.401.11 (this is correct one for me) & saved to the downloads folder in my One X.
Boot the phone into Clockworkmod recovery & choose install file from sd card.
Locate Ultrasmooth zip file in the One X downloads folder & install.
Install completes successfully & when I reboot it tells me that android is updating but then when I get to the home screen it's still far from smooth.
Thanks
I have been in contact with HTC discussing the stuttering issue and the pausing live wallpaper when moving between screens, I went though a few processes escalation teams etc. The most recent reply I got was that my request had been forwarded to their r&d department in Taiwan to try and put the fixes in a future update

seriously? :| far from smooth? you are the first to experience this
you did the correct process, i never tricked bricked kernel, im on stock
did you still have the 3d widgets layers? this is how u can tell if its applied
edit: why dont u try the latest ARHD 6.1.0 its included and asks if you want to be installed while flashing the ROM
Thanks for the quick reply.
The widgets do look 3D still so I guess either I'm doing something not quite right or that it doesn't work with bricked kernel.

you mean in the weather you can see the clouds on seprate layers
if so its didnt work
kernel unrelated
did you ever uninstall and re install sense launcher?
I'm expierencing micro stuttering on this phone all around. I'm finding it to be largely unrelated to the launcher, as it is by no means stutter free on Apex either. I'm on stock, unrooted and very disappointed my quad core phone stuttters more than the galaxy y (€ 59,-) we have laying around here.

I've never unistalled the sense launcher, should I try that?
Thanks

no I have no idea why its not working for you, you can try arhd 6.1.0
@schiphol after ultra stutter is unrelated to launcher its a device fresh out of the one so expect performance updates
by the way I definitely had no micro stutter due to supercharger die hard patch
I just switched to hard to kill and micro stutter is back
Cheers, I'll give it a try
The home screen stutter is definitely due to those sense Widgets. When I remove them the UI is very smooth. But of course not using those widgets doesn't make any sense (.......)

Never experienced any lag on my One X (Completely stock).
Also, while 2.6.x kernels have been largely used in gingerbread roms, the 2.6.x kernel series are not Gingerbread-specific. Yes it's an old kernel series and 3.x (particularly 3.4) would be a lot better for android, linux kernel versions are not associated with any one version of android
I have stutter when switching between my clock page and my Twitter sense app. Apart from that no stutter. I have all pages filled up with HTC widgets aswell. Sense doesn't lag though. Only stutters ever so slightly. I'm not sure why though.:/

Hi guys,
I have a problem for which i can't seem to find a solution through search. I'm on the latest Ice Cold Sandwich and the recent apps function (holding home button) gets really slow after a while. It seems to me that the function holds to many apps in memory causing it to be slow. I tried nova launcher which made it a little faster but not quite solved the problem.
Does anyone know a way to adjust the number of apps this function holds in memory?
Thanks
Not that I know of. And changing the launcher won't help since recent apps list is not related to it. I was a longtime IceColdSandwich user till Lord Clockan stopped active development for it. It's gotten buggy over time and especially because he was blind developing it without a phone to test on. After some use the ROM UI becomes slow overall. For ICS, I'd recommend aospX. It's the most stable ICS ROM. However it's pure AOSP and won't have AOKP/CM features like IceColdSandwich except the quick toggles in the notification bar. I'd also recommend you they the codefireX JellyBean nightlies. They are CM10 with some AOKP features and are more stable than IceColdSandwich in my experience. There a also JellyTime which is CM10 only. Since these are JellyBean ROMs, they are by default faster than ICS throughout. Everything works including 720p video recording and there are no major bugs that hamper usability.
Of course I'm only talking about AOSP ROMs. There are many stable Sense ICS ROMs if you like Sense.

As sashank said, you're not the only one facing slowing down issues with IceColdSandwich. It seems a lot of users are experiencing slow downs in the overall UI after a couple of days using the ROM.
I'm a fan of Sense ROMs, and there are a couple very stable ones around.
Thanks guys,
Might be time to switch to a jellybean ROM then....

Let us know how it goes for you..
Yeah, I am in the same boat. IceCold Sandwich while formally rock steady, now is just laggy. I flashed over to Jellytime, but my wifi was so unstable at home that I have axed that one as well. I had Jellytime around B7 and had no issues with wifi. R12 & R13 are completely unusable for me. Oh well, time for something else.
