[Q] Can you backup One X with bad display - HTC One X

My One X has just had a display failure. It will ring, and respond to alert on notifications but will the screen is black with no touch response either.
I am taking it into the store tomorrow to go for replacement or warranty repair if I must but I am sure either way I will loose my photos.
As I just took a trip with the kids I would love to get them off. I cannot "guess" my way into mass storage mode as the digitiser isn't' working.
Is there a way to hook this up to my mac and get it to give me access to the SD card?
Thanks for help.

It works on PC, not sure about MAC.

screen wont turn on...

i dropped my phone and since then the screen refuses to turn on. it seems like everything is working fine except the screen. calls are coming through and im able to answer the call as long as i swipe at the right spot. is this something that can be fixed instead of swapping out the phone? if this cant be fixed and i have to get a new unit, can the sprint technicians be able to somehow transfer everything over to the new phone? btw, my phone is rooted with cwm installed and nandroid backed up to internal storage since i have no sd card installed.
If you can connect via USB you can grab the data from internal storage possibly, but it sounds like, at best, your display has a hardware issue ( strange that the touch works but the display doesn't)
But I see a trip to the phone store in your future.
If you can, I'd recommend booting to the boot loader (pwr-voldown) and using Odin to flash a stock from first so you can at least have the chance of getting a warranty replacement. ("Not sure what happennes, the screen just doesn't work anymore...")
Good luck.

Sounds like something with the connection between the LCD and the motherboard. You could get lucky and only have to reconnect the LCD's ribbon connection, however, if the LCD is cracked in any way, it would have to be a replacement, that is, if they allow replacements on cracked LCDs. Every ASC location is different. The only way to transfer anything would be to connect it to a PC, like he said in the above post, and hope it connects as USB storage by default. Copy everything to the desktop and then drag-and-drop onto the new phone's storage. But dude, get an SD card. It really makes EVERYTHING so much easier when transferring to a new phone.
The LED back light system and the touchscreen are independent of each other. Sounds to me like the connection to the back lights and the power got disconnected.

that is exactly what it seems like. can i take it into a sprint store and have it repaired or do i need to send it off?
As long as there is no physical damage then I would say its repairable. If you have ever seen a smartphone dissembled you should go check it out on you tube. Alot of the connectors are very small and easily popped out.

[Q] Format and restore without a working touchscreen

I have GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus and the internal digitizer screen went bad after it cracked. My phone turns on fine, but the touchscreen is rendered useless. Screen doesn't turn on, but I am able to boot into the internal sd card portion of the phone via usb on mac and pc. Instead of me paying to buy a new screen I just want to sell this on ebay as is and recover my losses for the upcoming nexus 4. The problem is I don't want my personal info on it and unfortunately I was unable to setup the usb debugging mode prior to the screen cracking so screencast app won't work for me, I tried. Any ideas on how I can wipe my phone clean? Can this be done via odin? and if so how? Thanks for the heads up.

[Q] Broken digitizer/screen - swap motherboard chip to retrieve data?

I know similar questions have been asked before but here's my situation. Massive fight on the phone with the g/f ended up with my Desire HD screen smashed out of anger. The phone turns on, I hear the HTC intro music, the LEDs light up but the screen is black and non-responsive (based on using power key to light up screen but constant tapping of screen won't stop it going off).
The phone is not rooted nor on USB debugging mode. I can't sync it with my laptop or myphoneexplorer. From reading various threads I think its a lost cause to try to connect to it so I'm looking at the other option. Is it possible to physically take the internal memory out of the phone and have it installed onto a working phone just so I can take all the data off it? Has anyone made something like that?
Why not take it to repair shop and get new screen put in?
The option to remove memory chip is going to be hard and risky and reading data on it might be a problem too.
Like you said it turns on and works go get new screen...

I know, I've been quoted £80 to fix it but the phone isn't worth that much though I guess my data is!

[Q] How to view a Dead Screen?

So my brother attempted to repair the screen on my note 2 and now the screen is completely dead the phone still rings when called and can be recognized by the pc. Basically all I want to do is get the pictures off my phone.
The issue is I can connect to samsung Kies but it requires me to unlock my phone to view the pictures. Is there any way around this? I would pay to get it fixed but i upgrade. Also if theres no work around how would I wipe it to sell?
Thanks in advanced!

[Q] recover data, dead screen

I'm trying to help a friend recover mainly pictures from her phone. She dropped it down some carpeted steps and now the screen is dead. To avoid paying $200ish to replace the screen or turning in the phone to get a new one (right now), her main goal is to get the photos. The phone is unrooted and has a lock code. What can be done or steps to get inside the internal drive?

You should be able to hook it up to your computer via USB and copy the photos to the computer. I do that all the time and don't have to unlock the phone to do so.
