When I use dspmanager on cm9, it doesn't seem to do anything at all to my sound. I tried changing the settings for phone speaker, headset and BT, it looked like it changed, but the sound was exactly the same, even when making ridiculous changes to the equalizer.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
I've noticed the same thing. I'm running cm9 also and when I adjust the dsp for the phone speaker, you really can't tell if it's working. When I adjust for headphones it works perfectly but when I adjust for bluetooth it does nothing. A real bummer too cause I have a wireless bluetooth speaker which has good sound but it would be better if I could adjust it.
Might be worth asking aeroevan about, I remember when people asked about gsm for example, he had simply forgot to turn on a setting or something. That is, unless the question has already been asked 30 times xD

not working for me either.
edit: Strange - it's working now. I was messing around with different kernels, not sure if that fixed it. I am on the rom/kernel in the OP.

Has anyone had any luck getting the SGSII Car dock to work with any of the ICS builds floating around?
Really want to switch to ICS but for me my car dock is a must.
Thanks!
yeah I love ICS but I need my car dock the only workaround that I have done was take the aux cable off and put it on the headphone jack of the phone but that defeats the purpose of having the official car dock.
Not car dock, but with the official Samsung desk dock...no go with ICS. Screen NEVER times out and sleeps! Fine with Gingerbread, however.
Well we need a fix for both because its just terrible having to crank up the speakers and have barely any sound
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA Premium App
I don't have a dock to test this with unfortunately.
Can somebody describe the issue to the fullest detail possible?
Normally I hook up the dock with the dock setting of volume through speakers. With ics the volume is really low even though both the phone and car speaker volume is set to max.

I experience the same thing as bykr_dude15 explains, with all ICS roms. I can turn my radio and phone volume up as high as they go and can just barely hear the audio coming out of the car speakers.
If anyone comes up with anything to test, put it in this thread and I'll be more than happy to give it a try on my phone.
Same here. Having the exact same issue. I can try and get logcats for you if that would help.
I wonder if its a kernel problem. But I too would be happy to test it because this is the only reason I don't want to use the ics roms

So I broke down and just plugged a cable into the headphone jack for now because ICS is working so damn good on my phone I don't want to go back. but it is a real drag.
I am really thinking this is a kernal issue and can be fixed maybe with the use of something like this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.muteheadlight.dockredir&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm5ldC5tdXRlaGVhZGxpZ2h0LmRvY2tyZWRpciJd
People are having to use this with CM9 also. Just needs to be built into the kernal I guess??
Yeah bro, it's gotta be the colonel. Perhaps Colonel Sanders.
Actually, I'm just messing with you; I have no idea. I didn't even read the thread. I know this is totally off-topic, but, you gotta have at least a few off-topic posts, right?
But yeah, ICS is sweet. There were a lot of 'behind-the-scenes' changes that caused some awesome breakage, though.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
I don't think we need that because I can hear it being redirected but it just doesn't give out enough volume.

I just tried the new ICS leak you mentioned and it didn't fix the issue for me.
Still a no go. Been trying everything that hits the Dev section but have to keep returning to Tuesday|Blu|Ray so I can use my docks.
same problem with me... luckily I found a thread to post on...
I got the AOKP ROM for my AT&T Galaxy S2 i777 ... There is simply no option for the audio to be re-routed through the desktop dock [Samsung Official Desktop Dock] ... I did however got audio after plugging the AUX cable into the headphone jack, of course...
But one thing though, I found this app, called the Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector... but it says the ROM isn't supported... maybe it could be modded in some way?
I asked task650, and he said that it's only possible if the AOKP team includes it...
But I kinda wanna get it right now... I'm willing to try any hacks/mods to do this...
Thanks
I've been having this problem with all ROMS except for the stock ROM from 4.0.3. My noise is heard distorted to others like a synthesizer (robot) and when I switch off noise suppression they can hear themselves echo. What am I doing wrong? Already tried clearing cache, dalvik cache and fixed permissions to not avail. I love this ROM more than any ROM I've ever used...but people are having difficulties hearing me.
Edit : before flaming I already checked but none of the answers helped me unfortunately.
Edit #2 : Upgrading to #5 and reverting back to stock 4.0.4 kernel and sound changes Jovy added COMPLETELY ELIMINATED the problem.

Bro i think theres is a fix already lol.
Edit:btw im running the same ROM and its amazing you should check it out.

I think it might only be with roms that are based off of skyrocket roms. Apparently the position of the microphone on the skyrocket is slightly different, causing echo. (Saw this posted somewhere else on the forums.)
You already posted a thread about this issue.. Read my friend take your time and search...
I am on the same rom...
you need to go to your dialer then settings and enable noise suppression!!!!
and if it still have a problem do it again, mute and unmute
seems to help for me

I have the same issue. No amount of noise suppression enable/disable or mute/unmute toggling will fix it. I even odined back to stock and it persisted. The fact that Samsung doesn't acknowledge this as a defect is laughable.
Now, I'm just waiting for tmo to process my exchange and send it out.
I love the Samsung hardware, but so far, I am 2 for 2 on phones with hardware issues that were not considered defects. (a vibrant with a wonky GPS, and now a hercules with a piss poor mic design.)

I remember that lack of GPS on the Vibrant, and the lag on the Vibrant 4G cause of less memory and ram. And now the S2 with the mics problems. I havent search on the S3 to see what kind of defect it has yet but I am thinking on getting one and before I do I'm gonna do a lot of research on it
My co worked who used to have an ET4G and now has a Galaxy Nexus stumbled upon this MOD. Knowing how must of us running any jb ROM have low headphones/aux issues I thought I could post this to try and help.
There is a tiny problem though.... I flashed this last night. I successfully booted my phone but once everything loaded my phone froze up and just powered cycled. I tryied flashing it with different gapps combinations and different jb ROMs. So with that said... do any of you devs or anyone that want to try to modify this MOD for our phones?? Maybe it will bring a solution this this bug?
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to try this and provide some input

Might be a kernel thing? Who knows.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one with the audio problem but from my short testing in my car it seemed to only be music related, I'm using double twist. When I got a text message the ringtone was alot louder than the music itself and the volume setting on that was only around half as loud. Things use to be the other way around on ICS. Like someone else posted hopefully there can be a fix soon because I'm loving JB.
I tried this mod on my Nexus 7 and I didnt notice a difference

I'm having this issue with both music stored in my phone and apps like Pandora and iheart radio. my call volume is very loud, no issue there as well as notification. I just flashed AOSP jb 09/19 to see if it made any progress on volume but no luck. Low volume is still there

From what I can tell from my testing on the E4GT, your headphone and bluetooth volumes are tied to the speaker media volume originally. I haven't seen it in any other builds of CM10, but it seems fairly common in the E4gT's roms.
Where are the nightly builds posted? I don't see it on thier official site

So uh, I've been using the AOKP ROM for awhile now along with KTs kernel and everything has been running fine. That is until yesterday when I was on my way back to Toronto from a trip and suddenly in the middle of a song a loud, high pitch screech went off in my ears(Scared the crap out of me). At first I thought it was my headphones, but after unplugging em and hitting play, the screech was coming through the speaker as well. The odd thing is, it's only with certain songs that it does it. Was thinking of flashing a new ROM/kernel combo to see if that fixes it. Anyone else ever experience this/have another fix?

I've got my sgh-I747 running latest OTA from at&t rooted and using TWRP recovery. When I use the aux in on my car stereo in conjunction with my charger I get a horrible whine with cracking and popping. I have owned MANY android phones and they all do this. Its a shame. As soon as the charger gets plugged in it causes interferance with the 3.5mm output. Motorola, Samsung,HTC. They all do it.
But it won't do it if you use Bluetooth lol

How do you like the AOKP build. I'm new to android. I've been using jailbroken iOS for several years now. Android takes some getting used to but I'm really starting to dig it.
I noticed yesterday on the way home that the noise is only present when the device is both plugged into the charger and there is no audio broadcast. So in between songs or pauses in a radio app like tune-in radio. So not as bad as I thought but still kinda embarrassing. When you are showing how cool android is to your iOS friends

Haha don't ya just hate that? Trying to show off your phone and all of a sudden it's screaming at you? Talk about a downer.
But AOKP I just love. It's what I've been using for almost 2 years on all my devices. The customization and performance is just amazing. Hands down my favorite ROM. Like, I've tried the stock based ones, Cyanogen and others, but they just don't fulfill my needs like AOKP does. Get the right kernel combo/setup going with it and you'll be satisfied for a good amount of time if not forever

Bringing this thread back to life. Got an AT&T Samsung GS3 running CM10 Stable (10.0.0) with the stock kernel and when I plug the phone into my car's AUX system, there is a loud very high pitched / high frequency whine that is continuous, but only happens when the phone goes into audio-out mode... if the phone isn't doing anything, there is no whine, but as soon as I press "play" on the music player or turn pandora on, the whine comes on and continues throughout music play.
I tried plugging in my headphones (Klipsch S2) and there is no high-pitched noise that I can hear.
Is there a fix yet? Anyone else running CM10 stable having this problem?
Thanks!!
My Galaxy Note II constantly makes a soft static noise on and off every few seconds. I can listen to music/media and it will mask the sound but it is still there. It is very obvious with headphones but I think I can hear it softly through the speakers as well.
No it is not the headphones (I have tried multiple pairs of headphones/earbuds.
This issue (I believe) was still around when I was running NOTEorious Prime and I now use Paranoid Android.

Your roms are not even getting time to settle before they change again...

These phones are tough yes...but at the rate you are flashing....it is highly likely you are missing something....g
