My Galaxy Note II constantly makes a soft static noise on and off every few seconds. I can listen to music/media and it will mask the sound but it is still there. It is very obvious with headphones but I think I can hear it softly through the speakers as well.
No it is not the headphones (I have tried multiple pairs of headphones/earbuds.
This issue (I believe) was still around when I was running NOTEorious Prime and I now use Paranoid Android.
Anyone know how to fix?!
EDIT: I changed roms to Pac Man 4.3.. issue is completely gone.. Paranoid Android definitely caused this glitch be warned
Do not recommend that rom.
I noticed your making threads about...
But I think everyone knows that anything that isn't STOCK is going to have some sort of a glitch...
Especially all of the Roms you're flashing..

My thoughts exactly...
OP..you have flashed so many roms with different frameworks...in such a short time...
Your roms are not even getting time to settle before they change again...
Slow down a bit ??...and read the threads for the roms you are using...
The solution to your PA issue is posted in the thread for the rom...
These phones are tough yes...but at the rate you are flashing....it is highly likely you are missing something....g

So I am having a little issue with call volumes. I have to practically yell over the phone sometimes for the other person to hear me. Other times it just feels as if its normal. I am currently running jugs 5.0 with the included faux kernal. Still on kid baseband.
Anyone else with this issue?
I was always on jugs roms, and I don't really recall if its always been like this or not. And yes, I did a full wipe and clean install.

i had the same problem, odin it back to stock and start over. it should be fine, if not then odin back and use a diff modem
I've been having this problem with all ROMS except for the stock ROM from 4.0.3. My noise is heard distorted to others like a synthesizer (robot) and when I switch off noise suppression they can hear themselves echo. What am I doing wrong? Already tried clearing cache, dalvik cache and fixed permissions to not avail. I love this ROM more than any ROM I've ever used...but people are having difficulties hearing me.
Edit : before flaming I already checked but none of the answers helped me unfortunately.
Edit #2 : Upgrading to #5 and reverting back to stock 4.0.4 kernel and sound changes Jovy added COMPLETELY ELIMINATED the problem.

Bro i think theres is a fix already lol.
Edit:btw im running the same ROM and its amazing you should check it out.

I think it might only be with roms that are based off of skyrocket roms. Apparently the position of the microphone on the skyrocket is slightly different, causing echo. (Saw this posted somewhere else on the forums.)
You already posted a thread about this issue.. Read my friend take your time and search...
I am on the same rom...
you need to go to your dialer then settings and enable noise suppression!!!!
and if it still have a problem do it again, mute and unmute
seems to help for me

Thanks and yeah I know. I did the noise suppression enabler and I have to keep muting and unmuting every two seconds. But it must've been the kernel. Jovy already fixed it with v5. He's fast!

I have the same issue. No amount of noise suppression enable/disable or mute/unmute toggling will fix it. I even odined back to stock and it persisted. The fact that Samsung doesn't acknowledge this as a defect is laughable.
Now, I'm just waiting for tmo to process my exchange and send it out.
I love the Samsung hardware, but so far, I am 2 for 2 on phones with hardware issues that were not considered defects. (a vibrant with a wonky GPS, and now a hercules with a piss poor mic design.)

I remember that lack of GPS on the Vibrant, and the lag on the Vibrant 4G cause of less memory and ram. And now the S2 with the mics problems. I havent search on the S3 to see what kind of defect it has yet but I am thinking on getting one and before I do I'm gonna do a lot of research on it
So uh, I've been using the AOKP ROM for awhile now along with KTs kernel and everything has been running fine. That is until yesterday when I was on my way back to Toronto from a trip and suddenly in the middle of a song a loud, high pitch screech went off in my ears(Scared the crap out of me). At first I thought it was my headphones, but after unplugging em and hitting play, the screech was coming through the speaker as well. The odd thing is, it's only with certain songs that it does it. Was thinking of flashing a new ROM/kernel combo to see if that fixes it. Anyone else ever experience this/have another fix?

I've got my sgh-I747 running latest OTA from at&t rooted and using TWRP recovery. When I use the aux in on my car stereo in conjunction with my charger I get a horrible whine with cracking and popping. Read a couple posts where ppl said they were able to exchange their device for a new one that did not have the same problem so I may be going that route with mine. Keep me posted if you resolve your issues.

Try changing your voltages back to stock. Also change your min CPU to 384.
Reboot and it should be fixed. Either that or try a different kernel but I was experiancing this as well

I have owned MANY android phones and they all do this. Its a shame. As soon as the charger gets plugged in it causes interferance with the 3.5mm output. Motorola, Samsung,HTC. They all do it.
But it won't do it if you use Bluetooth lol

Well seems like I fixed it this morning. Just reflashed the latest AOKP available and switched over to Faux's kernel and the problem seems to be gone for the time being. If anything, try a diff kernel/ROM combo and see what if that fixes it.

How do you like the AOKP build. I'm new to android. I've been using jailbroken iOS for several years now. Android takes some getting used to but I'm really starting to dig it.
I noticed yesterday on the way home that the noise is only present when the device is both plugged into the charger and there is no audio broadcast. So in between songs or pauses in a radio app like tune-in radio. So not as bad as I thought but still kinda embarrassing. When you are showing how cool android is to your iOS friends

Sorry for the late response =3
Haha don't ya just hate that? Trying to show off your phone and all of a sudden it's screaming at you? Talk about a downer.
But AOKP I just love. It's what I've been using for almost 2 years on all my devices. The customization and performance is just amazing. Hands down my favorite ROM. Like, I've tried the stock based ones, Cyanogen and others, but they just don't fulfill my needs like AOKP does. Get the right kernel combo/setup going with it and you'll be satisfied for a good amount of time if not forever

I had this problem as well, switched off of ktoonsez kernel and it was gone. I strongly believe that his kernel, as amazing as it is, is the cause behind the noise.

I wouldn't say his kernel is the problem that's causing this. It's all about undervolting.

Bringing this thread back to life. Got an AT&T Samsung GS3 running CM10 Stable (10.0.0) with the stock kernel and when I plug the phone into my car's AUX system, there is a loud very high pitched / high frequency whine that is continuous, but only happens when the phone goes into audio-out mode... if the phone isn't doing anything, there is no whine, but as soon as I press "play" on the music player or turn pandora on, the whine comes on and continues throughout music play.
I tried plugging in my headphones (Klipsch S2) and there is no high-pitched noise that I can hear.
Is there a fix yet? Anyone else running CM10 stable having this problem?
Thanks!!
Well to start its a great phone but issues issues issues my wife an I are on our 5 replacement. Reason being when some one calls half the time can't hear nothing or they can't hear you. Rather mobile network or wifi calling. No matter what ROM either. As well as wifi calling sucks ass! No matter what router or flashable zips that are suppose to help with the issue. Swapped out two different Sim cards. An nothing phones work fine for the first day or so after that turns to ****. TMobile an there retarded Reps an so called tech support oh do a reset maybe a factory restore that should do it. Doesn't fix a damn thing. Oh and a trouble ticket every three days that they never call back about. As well as I have to dial a number a couple of times to get a call to go through. Never had these problems with my HTC phones. But we love our Samsungs. Anyone with the same consistent problems? Something else a rep said was the phones are having issues due to 4.0.4 update and they are working with Samsung to get it resolved but when I called back to find out about the trouble tickets this rep said he doesn't know anything about that.....retards

My wife says the call quality for her stinks but I find mine to be ok. The only Issue I had was with the D30 case the person i'm talking to gets an echo. But I remove the case and there is no issue.

I remember having this problem as well a while back on certain roms that I used, including stock, but I have not had a single issue since I switched the CyanogenMod10 rom. I would say give CM10 a try if you haven't. It's built from the ground up so it doesn't inherit all the weird issues that stock and modified stock roms have. I have never used WIFI calling so I am not sure if that works on CM10, but since switching to CM10 I have not had any of those weird issues where one person can't hear the the other on a call. Also, if you do try CM10 and people you are talking to complain about the voice quality, try enabling Noise Suppression in the phone settings on CM10. Overall CM10 made me fall in love with my phone, its rock solid, stable, fast, and has great usability improvements over the stock based roms.

Has anyone had an issue with connecting to phone calls with T-Mobile lately? I have tried 3 different radios on multiple ROM's with no luck.
Problem kind of goes like this. I'll make a call....phone will not ring and sometimes say call connected, sometimes it won't ever do anything. I'll hang up, call right back and it does ring. This doesn't happen every time but it happens enough to piss you off.
Any help would be great. Thanks community.

I have the exact same issue. Don't know what is causing it. I have also tried different radios and ROMS. Seems to only have been happening on Jelly Bean ROMS, but don't know if that is a cause, or just that I have only been on those ROMS for a while now.
What Radio/ROM are you using? I am on LiquidSmooth with the UVLH5 radio.
I'm currently on the UVLH radio and PACman latest release.
This is annoying, not disabling my phone but annoying at any rate.

Yeah. I have noticed it a lot when I call my girlfriend. It will say it's connected but I won't hear anything and usually it will disconnect. So if it starts doing that I have started hanging up and recalling and it rings from the start. I just found out today though that it is ringing on her end even though I am not hearing anything. She said most of the time I call it rings, I hang up, and then call right back, but to me, it seems like it's not connecting the first time.
Same thing happens sometimes when I receive calls, I will answer and hear nothing and have to hang up and call back. I wonder if its a T-Mobile thing in our area.
This is a typical issue with Samsung phones and T-Mobile and has been noted in multiple threads.
