I tried to connect to 4G but noticed it never connected. Went into the about phone and on the 4G MAC address it says not available. Could it have been lost during a nandroid restore? is there anyway to get it back?
Are you in a 4g area? What modem are you on? Pretty sure it says unavailable unless you're connected to 4g at that time.

Running the FD02 modem. Noticed that when 4G is on I get all zeros on the MAC address but never a connection even in 4G areas

If you power off your phone and look under the battery the MAC ID is your 4G MAC ADDRESS, it should also be the same one listed on the box that your phone came in.

If you're on a stock ROM, I would clear NVRAM and allow it to reactivate with sprint. There are 2 ways to do so. One way is by typing in a dialer code and entering the MSL. The other way is to use the traditional odin 1.85 to odin the modem of your choice with clear phone EFS checked.

This won't work. The WiMAX MAC is not stored in /efs/nvm/num.

All you have to do is install the modded ct.apk app from the thread that autoprime made and once installed got to dialer and type in ##33284# and go to wimax ct. Once you're there the first option is mac address, click on open device and then type in the mac address that came with your phone, you can find it under the battery or on the box your phone came in. Once you typed in your mac address press "set mac" and wait a second afterwards just hit home or back and toggle 4g on and if done correctly you'll be all set

I was able to pick up 4g while driving, but for some reason it wouldnt connect and sprint hotspot would automatically check mark itself and then eventually an error message would come up saying my username and number or something is not working..

Currently connected via 4G (in Chicago)
I saw the crazy tutorial on how to update prl via some program that u use to flash the phone to boost. The prl I have now is 61008.
Turn on the 4G if you can - it doesn't need to connect to get to the settings if I remember correctly.
Well its not letting me SET my Mac address when I try to set it in wimax ct

Hello,
I lost my sII and went back to my evo
I was running an old deck rom I got a few months back, and when I got my phone switched, the 3G didn't work. So I got a new ROM (twin turbo one) and the same issues. I can make calls and get them, same with texts. Also if I use 4g I can access the internet and related things, except that I cannot download any market apps using 4g....
Any idea what is going on? I checked for mobile data being off, also rebooted. Suggestions?
Thanks!
did you set the apns correctly?

How would I check that?
Did some googling and this is the best that I found
" It appears that on my GSM operator the 3G settings are not automatically detected and you need to enter them manually. To do that you need to go to Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names. "
but...that doesn't really help me because my settings menu doesn't have an Access Point Names option. I will do some more research but if you can respond on exactly what to do, that would be great
I'm having same 3g issue. There is no 4G in my area.
Backed up apn from my hero which gets 3g and restored on my EVO but no change.

Try flashing back to your original nandroid backup, backing the apn's up, and restoring them in the new rom?
One of my ha passwords got corrupted when I was in the ##data menu. Have you gone in and tried restoring it with a sense Rom?
Is there any way to permanently disable 4G functionality, by removing a lib or apk or some other method?
I'm using an Epic on Boost so 4G isn't an option, but I have still noticed that occasionally my phone will switch to 4G. When that happens I lose data and none of my background syncing works...
EDIT: Probably should have mentioned, I'm running The People's ROM v2.2.1.
Not 100% sure about this so I would wait for someone more experienced to give you another answer. But if you want, make a backup of your rom now and then use titanium backup and uninstall every app with "wimax" in its name. I do believe all the wimax stuff is 4G related. I could be wrong tho.

Did you disable the Sprint Optimizer? Settings> wireless and networks> mobile networks> automatic connections.
If that don't stop it remove easysmart.apk from system on phone.

No 4G on boost?! Is that because you're not using a dummy phone with a wimax radio? I thought as long as I take the ESN from a wimax enabled phone, I'll be able to use the wimax feature. Am I wrong about this? How did you get your phone Epic 4G onto the Boost Network, mbellot?

My (minimal) understanding on the subject is:
1. The donor would need to be a wiimax device
2. In addition to the ESN you would need to also "move" the donor's wiimax MAC address on your Epic since that is what gets "activated" for 4G service.
I have seen topics on #2 floating around, some even on using an alternate wiimax service (FreedomPop, etc) by using the MAC address from a device on that service since they all technically go through Clear towers.
I've never felt the need to pursue wiimax, I'm on WiFi 90% of the time and the rest of the time I've learned to live with 3G.
To your last question (how I got the Epic on Boost), there is a very long thread in the development section here.
FWIW - I solved my problem by moving from TPR to CM11, WiiMax is disabled in the kernel so I don't have to worry about it ever turning on.
My Galaxy S2 went through an update through Sprint this morning, and ever since then I can't connect to the internet either through wifi or 3g/4g. When I try with wifi, it never acquires and IP address, and the 3g icon doesn't even show at the top anymore even though I've checked to make sure the 3g data box was checked.
Hopefully someone can help me out. I don't want to have to do a factory reset and lose all my data.
