My Galaxy S2 went through an update through Sprint this morning, and ever since then I can't connect to the internet either through wifi or 3g/4g. When I try with wifi, it never acquires and IP address, and the 3g icon doesn't even show at the top anymore even though I've checked to make sure the 3g data box was checked.
Hopefully someone can help me out. I don't want to have to do a factory reset and lose all my data.

Ok so I flashed the deodexed (Whitehawkx version) stock rooted T-Mobile update with wificalling. I was super excited for it to be released blah, blah, blah then I went to send an mms. No go. Just hung. So I figured it must be because I'm on a deodexed rooted rom. I asked friend (thanks doc) who had just updated using the T-Mobile method to tey sending an mms while on wificalling. No dice. I'm wondering how many of us have this problem. It seems to be a T-Mobile issue, but I'm no dev. Just a big fan.
Thanks

It seems to work for me but it takes forever to send the images/media - unless the phone finally decided to use edge to sent the message while still connected to wifi calling. Though, I assumed once it's connected to wifi calling, it only uses wifi. Can anyone confirm this?

I can't answer that for sure. Hmm maybe I don't give it enough time, for me and doc it doesn't send until right after we disconnect from wifi. Thanks for the feedback.

This is a problem with the Wifi calling feature. It disables MMS and does this on multiple phones. I had this same problem on my Mytouch 4g as well.
There is a response from a Tmobile employee on the Tmobile support boards for wifi calling and the G2 which says http://support.t-mobile.com/message/4487.
This is normal. WiFi Calling registers through your wifi and disables the mobile networks to do so. Some T-Mobile apps have the ability to temporarily force a GPRS connection to verify you. The only away to avoid this is to disable or turn off WiFi Calling.
This is also why calls drop when leaving your wifi network's signal range. It needs to disconnect and re-register on the T-Mobile network.

i have a gs2 in one hand and a mt4g in the other. wifi calling on on both. the gs2 sends instantly without ever connecting to data, the mt4g connects to data and takes ~10 seconds to send. maybe depends on things like your router or something.

Did you update your baseband to the most recent one. That could be a problem.

You need to remember that the firewall settings are different from place to place. As an example I use a Cisco router at home and WiFi calling will connect but I could not hear the person on the other end initially. I had to look at what the router was doing, figure out what the firewall was blocking and unblock it.
It's likely the firewall at your work is letting some, but not all of the necessary traffic through. You could ask the IT guys if they can look and see what their firewall is blocking from your phone and ask them if they'll unblock it... They may or may not want to help and they may use the information to completely block your phone from being able to connect to the tmobile servers on the other side.
I tried to connect to 4G but noticed it never connected. Went into the about phone and on the 4G MAC address it says not available. Could it have been lost during a nandroid restore? is there anyway to get it back?
Are you in a 4g area? What modem are you on? Pretty sure it says unavailable unless you're connected to 4g at that time.

Running the FD02 modem. Noticed that when 4G is on I get all zeros on the MAC address but never a connection even in 4G areas

If you power off your phone and look under the battery the MAC ID is your 4G MAC ADDRESS, it should also be the same one listed on the box that your phone came in.

If you're on a stock ROM, I would clear NVRAM and allow it to reactivate with sprint. There are 2 ways to do so. One way is by typing in a dialer code and entering the MSL. The other way is to use the traditional odin 1.85 to odin the modem of your choice with clear phone EFS checked.

This won't work. The WiMAX MAC is not stored in /efs/nvm/num.

All you have to do is install the modded ct.apk app from the thread that autoprime made and once installed got to dialer and type in ##33284# and go to wimax ct. Once you're there the first option is mac address, click on open device and then type in the mac address that came with your phone, you can find it under the battery or on the box your phone came in. Once you typed in your mac address press "set mac" and wait a second afterwards just hit home or back and toggle 4g on and if done correctly you'll be all set

Just come back from a holiday abroad where I used my DHD for wifi use whilst in airplane mode. Since returning home my phone can't pick up my home wifi signal. The router is working correctly as I can connect using both a PC and laptop however the phone doesn't register a signal. I have restarted my phone, forgotten the saved wifi connections, reset the router and still nothing
Any suggestions or further info you need??
does your phone find your router when you go into wifi settings and click scan?

No doesn't find any signal. No settings should have changed whilst I was away.
Go to WiFi settings and use the static IP and see if it works.
A bump with a little more info.
Still nothing with wifi at home. But tried my phone at the office of my new job and low and behold managed to pick up a few wireless signals. Although didnt have time to try connect to them.
Did you install any app that may conflict with WiFi?
Not that i'm aware of but is there a way to check dates installed?

I have noticed that there are people starting to notice that that have LTE in their frequenting areas, but it's messing with their data once they leave these areas.
For me it was having issues kicking back to edge and even 4G signals would not pull any data, would simply say that I had no connection. Didn't matter whether rooted or not or which rom I was using.
Anyway,
I have discovered somewhat a fix for this issue.
Under Connections tab in Settings, click more networks, then mobile networks, then Access Point Names my Access Point Name was epc.tmobile.com.
I noticed in other forums their APN should be fast.t-mobile.com so I thought I'd give it a try and incredibly my results were pretty good. It goes in and out of LTE areas pretty smoothly in comparison to losing data altogether.
Give it a try and report back.
Thanks
I was experiencing drop of data connection for long period of time (at least 5-10 mins) every time I leave the house, losing my wifi connection. More than once it just won't connect at all for a good couple of hours. I just did a test today, messing with the APN, network operator settings and get it to connect to 4gLTE. Once and turn on and then off the wifi, I lose the data again. And it wasn't gonna come back.
The fast.t-mobile.com address seems to do the trick and I'm now immediately on 4gLTE after losing wifi. and the speed is AMAZING at 24,000kbps download and over 10,000kbps upload.
Thanks!!!
I already had that APN setting but I wasn't getting ant 4G LTE :/ must not be in my area yet. I'm in north Georgia

With thr default (epc..) APN, I had LTE before in NYC, DC, Boston. It just happened that the connection drop was getting more and more noticeable so I had to do something about it.

great find, I must have switched between 5-7 different roms trying to figure out why I'd lose data for up to 20min. after coming off wifi. Once I got reconnected to 4g I was afraid to even turn my wifi back on.
This seems to me to have just started recently, I'll have 4G but I might use the elevator at work and lose my connection, upon being back in service I'll be stuck on Edge for about 10-20 minutes before it picks up the 4G connection again.
I've been switching to Airplane Mode then back and that seemed to help but it doesn't any longer.
My APN is already fast.t-mobile.com, is there any other solution to fixing this?
EDIT: If I reboot my phone it connects to 4G immediately, and I'm using a Rooted Stock MDL Build w/ the Faux kernel.
Thank you!

I have noticed before as well that roms default fast.t-mobile.com, but other times it would not. I could still get LTE with the epc..... but it wouldn't hold it.

Unfortunately I do not know of any other things that might help with LTE connection. I just stumbled on this and thought I'd share what worked for me.
Can anyone with fast.tmo take screenshots of their settings for that apn. My Rom doesn't have that and I would like to manually add it in. Thanks!

My phone had an update for some reason in the last day and now my WIFI wont work even though it's connected. The 4gLTE will stay up on the phone as well but nothing is able to use data. If I disable wifi my LTE works, but I cant use my home wifi. What can I do?
