I am wanting to give my wife my evo 4G, we are both on boost already and my evo has already been converted to work on boost. What I want to know is can I just go online and put in the ESN number that is on my boost acount and it will automatically work or will I also have to go into the phone and change the number over, I already have my msl # but I don't know what I would have to change if I did have to change anything. Can it be that easy since my phone has already been flashed for boost and also rooted or would I be better off just buying her another evo ? I want to flash a evo 3D for me and want her to have my evo 4G. Please help !
Unless someone has a better or faster way, I found it easier to just flash your old phone with the info from the phone on her acct now then just put your info into the 3D once you have it. I tried helping a friend swap numbers on a white Evo and black Evo (both on boost) since his wife wanted to trade. I tried to swap the boost phones on each acct first (Unfortunately it gives you new AAA keys when you switch accts) and found it easier to just swap the acct info on each Evo (Hope that makes sense to you, if not shoot me a PM and I would be glad to help.)

I think I understand, I can just basically copy and past my esn info on to her acount online and my evo will now be hers with her number with no issues ? Then I can just get an evo 3d and flash it to boost for me

Call *2 on your phone. Sprint employs support staff with access to assign phone numbers.
Once you get the EVO, call Sprint Customer Service and tell them you want to switch the phones between the two numbers. I did the same thing when I bought my EVO using my daughters upgrade.

You should be able to switch them over the phone. No need to go in.

all you need to do is call sprint and have them do it without walking into the sprint store..all they need is the serial number of the phone and the hex number, and that should be allowing you to activate to a different line.
I had a rooted samsung moment, and wanted the evo but didnt necessarily want to pay full price for it. A friend of mine (who really liked my phone) was getting a new contract with sprint, so i told him to get the evo, and then I would trade him my Moment for the evo, plus give him some cash. He liked the idea, so we went to sprint and set everything up, basically switching my phone number to the evo, and his old number to my samsung moment.
No problems at all, although the sprint rep gave me a funny look when he saw my custom boot animation. I'm glad they didnt get a good look at my sd card lol
Yes, we've done it many times switching our flashed TP, rooted HERO, and now rooted EVO around on our 3 lines. Just make sure to use the DEFAULT dialer when they want you to run the ##3282# code. That's the only 1 I can get to work with the codes.
you can even do it online through sprint.com... it may not be as easy if you are using a custom rom though.. sometimes you need to press stuff like *533534# and stuff like that and if using a custom rom that wont always work.. but if rooted is all youve done you should be good
I was able to swap my rooted hero's line with my stock evo's line. I did it over the phone.
I am buying a boostmobile configured Epic Touch4G, how do I restore it back to Sprint's network other then calling Sprint to configure the ESN to be setup on my line?

As mentioned don't buy it, I guarantee it has a bad esn.
That said, it is one of the easiest phone do a repair on. Google for epic 4g default 16 digit password. You will need a donor phone that is activated on sprint. If your donor phone is old enough you maybe able to get all your programming info from ##data#. If not, use QPST copy the info. Your HA AAA password maybe a pain to get. Googling will tell you how to get that too.
It is very doable. I have my E4GT on my OG Sero plan.
Before you decide to buy or not, check the ESN.
You can check the ESN online at http://www.checkesnfree.com or call it in to Sprint C.S.

You aren't cloning so it should be easy. I would think that the settings are pretty close already. Activate from the website and follow the programming direction. That should get you going.
If not then if you have another sprint phone. Dial ##data# on both phones and just start copying the info from the donor to e4gt. You will need the msl/Spc code to enter the data on the e4gt. If you have the msl for the donor phone enter it too, it will show more info.
Forgot, makes sure the Meid in settings/ about phone are the same as under the battery. If not, its very easily fixed.
There's a little more to it then that. If you can't get your original AAA password (nv item 1192) then you will need a donor phone. Try a ##786# reset or flashing a new radio to hopefully reset your nv items. Without the AAA password, you will not be able to authenticate your 3g and will be stuck in 1x

Funny, I read the first post as saying he wants to put a previously boost converted E4GT back on Sprint. If you want to go the other way, google is your friend. You will have to piece the process together by reading threads for different phones. Horwardsforums and mobile-files.us may prove helpful. Keep in mind many forums are purging info regarding esn repairs for fear of legal action, so that aspect maybe a little tougher to find but it is out there.

Understood. I wasn't aware that it was illegal. I was under the impression that it was like flashing to MetroPCS. Thanks for clearing things up
I bought a epic 4g from my cousin and called up sprint to swap the esn so I could use the epic I gave them the meid they said it came up as an evo which idk why but they went ahead and swapped them anyway then that was all done I turned my epic 4g on and they told me to dial ##590044# and a menu should pop up but it did not please help me with activating my phone
Since it showed up as an evo and they gave me an evo number to activate it the ##590044# should I flash a sense rom then try it again or is there a way around this totally please help thanks

Hi guys, I'm about to cancel my Sprint account and root the evo to boost, the incognito/rant are no longer on sale except on eBay. Which of the newer cheapest phone from Boost I can use as a donor???? I am afraid to get a used one from eBay thinking it might not work. Thanks in advance.

I've gotten mine, always used incognito, from craigslist. Doesn't matter what condition the phone is in as long as it powers up and can connect the usb port. I've done it with the Evo and the E3D. I want to try one of the Galaxy phones next but haven't gotten my hands on one. Good luck.
I've done two now with the incognito and their both working fine.
Technically you could use any 3g phone, it just may be harder to get all the info you need since most of the directions are for those 2...

It has to be from boost. And it can ONLY be used as a donor once at a time.
Meaning, say a buddy uses it to flash his evo. If he's still using it, you can't.
So if your buying one, make sure its a clean esn and activatible.

Just change the phone number on the Incognito it will assign new HA/AAA information.

But that doesn't matter. When you clone the info to a new phone, its always going to use the same unique numbers. The HA/AAA are only the passwords needed to access the information.
The esn/meid are unique and only 1 phone has those numbers. Its like a network mac address.
So no, you still can only use a phone once at a time. Otherwise, I could sell just the numbers off my phone all day long.

I'm talking about generating new HA/AAA information so at least he would know there's no way for some else to have it like the guy he bought it from.
By activating the phone you know if its in use or not.
He wouldn't be able to even activate the phone if someone is even using the MEID or ESN.
Can't you just call boost with your evo's ESN and they'll put it on their network? No need for a donor if so.
Some people claim they have but their official policy is against it, most have said they've been denied and I haven't even tried.
They can tell what ESN is coming from where Boost and Sprint ESNs are not considered the same in their systems.

To my understanding after reading a few blogs is that you can't do that, it will seem doable because is basically the same network(Sprint) but aparently is not possible therefore the need to flash.
Update
Just to update there are some other phones that can be use see this.
I was able to get a brand new incognito from a Sprint Store in VA, I spoke to one of the managers and they're getting rid off all the old boost mobile phones, I got mine for less than $30 they can even go lower If you buy in bulk, I thought about buying them(they had about 20) and reselling them on CL but didn't do it(not enough cash).
Anyway I completed the flash and now I am using my 4G Evo with boost, I am down to $25/month, I got the Pay as you go plan $.50/day unlimited web + $0.20/minute call. Works great for me since I don't use the phone to make calls, mostly text and web. Running ICS ROM of course with no 4G, I was paying about $93/month with Sprint.
