OK, my wife's phone has a "home" button with a bad attitude. It often refuses to respond. Is there a good source for that part? And where can I find instructions for replacing the buttons?
Thanks in advance

The power button on my wife's HTC Desire is faulty and becomes unresponsive at times.
When this happens, it means sge cannot get access to the phone unless she either plugs in/unplugs charger, receives a call or removes/reinserts battery (phone will power up automatically when button playing up)
Phone is out of warranty and cannot get repaired right now, so what i want to know is, does anyone know of an app that can be installed that could set other buttons on the phone to activate screen when screen is off?
Any advice would be appreciated

Thank you all for your responses, i have installed widgetlocker (on desire and my own galaxy s).
on the initial start up it does advise to go unto settings to be able to set any hardware key to activate screen. But i cannot find the settings :-\ the menu icon only locks the screen as does the icon in status bar.
Can you please help me find the settings?

Open widgetlocker from your app draw. This will cause the lockscreen to appear but is actually 'tool mode'.
Now press your menu button > settings > buttons and inputs > check Easy Wake. Done.

I'll be doing something and then my hand slides over it and ****s up everything. Just to be clear I mean the home button on the device itself. Not on ics. Thanks in advance!

Hello Guys,
I am looking for an app which disables screen touches as well as capacitive keys and power and volume keys when I am playing Rhymes for my toddler, tried No touch he always manages to find a way out to the home screen..
Any help appreciated. Thank you.
If you are talking about lock screen then try one of these two, I hope you'll find them helpful.
1. GOTO
2.WidgetLocker
thank you for your response. I think you misunderstood my requirement. I was not referring to the lockscreen. Anyway thanks for trying to help. Appreciate it.
Any more answers please...
Someone help please.
Have you tried zoodles?
Its a sandbox app that restricts usage to predefined apps.

Wouldn't it be scary if there's an app that can do these to your phone? How will you be able to turn the app off if non of the buttons and screen work?
I mean...unless you take battery out and in again...

True but at least there can be something like an on screen Pattern which will re enable the keys and touch

Recently my home button hasn't been responding when I press it. Specifically when I want to wake up the phone from its black screen. Once the phone is awake and not on the lockscreen it works flawlessly. However from time to time it won't wake up my phone?
Anyone else got this issue?
Stock ROM shouldn't pose any problems. Some of the aosp Roms have an issue with home button unlock.

you know what i mean by home button right? I dont want to get it confused with the "lit up" buttons. I am talking about the hard middle button.
Cheers
Yes. The physical home button. And my previous response stands unless you are talking about a completely different issue.

Is it possible to turn off on screen buttons, and use imaginary buttons on capacitive buttons?

It could be just me but I'm pretty sure your question makes no sense :/
The HTC logo is not capacitive. It is possible to hide the onscreen buttons using immersion mode or a mod.... Are you bootloader unlocked? Rooted? Gpe or sense?...
My bad I thought it was capacitive like the m7

I dont have an M7 but I used it before and the HTC logo was not a captive button. I guess its a mod the woke when u press the edge of the screen
It was a mod. You could use HTC button as menu button

The digitizer extended all the way to the bottom of the device (excluding the speakers obviously) so you could technically map that section to anything you wanted.
As for the M8, not too sure if the digitizer extends all the way to the bottom. Why would they, considering this device was designed with on screen keys in mind.
