Recently my home button hasn't been responding when I press it. Specifically when I want to wake up the phone from its black screen. Once the phone is awake and not on the lockscreen it works flawlessly. However from time to time it won't wake up my phone?
Anyone else got this issue?
Stock ROM shouldn't pose any problems. Some of the aosp Roms have an issue with home button unlock.

you know what i mean by home button right? I dont want to get it confused with the "lit up" buttons. I am talking about the hard middle button.
Cheers
Yes. The physical home button. And my previous response stands unless you are talking about a completely different issue.

In all honesty, it is a bit tricky to time it right the first time. That's why it might seem not to work but it does
Also, some ROMs have this option embedded in the power menu (though most of the time you will need to activate the option first in the settings of the ROM) and this might make it easier than pressing the 2 keys at the exact same time.
You could also look in the android market. there are a couple of apps that do that.
Although you already have screen capture on your phone, I guess you could try this app. It has been my screen capture app of choice before I bought my GNex.

i got it
Hi guys.Do you know any way to take screenshots like on Samsung Galaxy S III.I mean swiping the screen from a side to the other side?I am rooted with AOKP B36.Thx
What's wrong with vol down+power? Seems that would be preferable over a gesture that could disturb the screen you're trying to capture.
The guy above me said it

How could it disturb the screen? You do know that it uses the proximity sensor, not touch right? Its not like you drag you hand on the screen.

Nope, had no idea. I'd still prefer the button method though. Knowing me, I'd look like a fool waving my hand around over my phone :/
On aokp press and hold power button and then press screenshot.

Sorry my english is not good.
On AOKP, you can also do the power/volume down.

Fire up Voice Actions and say "Take a screenshot".

Duuuude... +1
I totally forgot about this method until last night when I remembered back to the announcement of the gnex and how they'd be incorporating screen caps stock. So glad I don't have to use those weak 3rd party apps any longer.
This method is hit and miss for me but at least there is a native way to take one! Thank you for your hello!

User error... Its really easy to do lol. Hitting 2 buttons at once isn't too hard .
You have to hold them for a second . Not tap and release
I usually press power before press volume down. It works 100%!

Dont know what else to call it really but I know this is happening with all of our devices.. which is when the screen times out and u press home to wake it up it takes u back to default homescreen. The sgs3 doesnt react that way and ive had to get used to hitting the power button instead. Any ideas? This would be amazing and greatfully appreciated.

I can't replicate this issue. I let my screen timeout and pressed the home button and it simply turned the screen back on to where I left it.

I've had it happen. You press he home button immediately after the screen goes black, and it wakes the screen up, but also takes out of what ever you are in and takes you to the home page. I've retrained myself not to go for the home button, but the power button.

I've seen this behavior too. It's quite annoying.

Stock rooted. I tried it multiple times and the same thing happens, screen times out, I instantly press the home button and it turns the screen back on but keeps me on the web page, app, etc that I'm using.

This is really an issue, "immediately" hitting the home button when it goes to sleep? Why not just avoid letting it go to sleep or hit the power button? This seems like a non issue to me and I've never had it happen.
but my post does not help the OP so good luck with that, sorry for the editorial.
The point is my sgs2 gti9100, and sgs3 tmobile which both had physical buttons didnt react this way.. I find it to be strange.

Are you using stock LEAK ?
I think this is a Jellybean 4.1 issue. My Note 2 has the same problem, but my wife's Galaxy S3 didn't when she was on ICS. Last week the phone updated to JB and now the problem exists.
This is definitely related to Jelly bean but I'm not sure if it is strictly a Touchwiz Jelly bean issue. It happens when I removed S Voice from the home button double press. It happens on the S3 and when my Note II comes in I bet it will happen on there too.
There are a lot of people that noticed it and I even saw someone open an issue with Google, although I'm not sure it is entirely a Google issue.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39326
The last line is the issue maybe.
"I want the single tap to be more snappy - for that I must disable s voice, but when I do it this bug raises its head. "
Do you guys have s voice disabled on the home button to save that lag time?
I disabled the s voice on the home button but still have the lag.

hi everybody,
i didn't find anywhere an answer to this:
is it possible to wake up the screen of the N7100 with the volume button?
i can't find mods or apps that have this function.
Why do you need it? There are already 2 buttons to wake it. No enough yet?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Haha, I had this mod on my Desire HD and it was great but I see absolutely no use for it on Note 2.
As Arsaw says, there are already two buttons you can use :good:
thanks for the answers.
i know there are already 2 buttons, but when i use the phone with left hand i find easier to wake it up with volume button.
i understand it's not a priority for developers, anyway if there will be, i will be glad
Third party lock screen replacement in the market like widget locker have that option if I'm not mistaken.
I always liked this feature with AOKP on my Gnex and I do miss it on the Note.
Edit: installed Widgetlocker. Seems the Note will not unlock via volume keys. Pity!
