Is it possible to turn off on screen buttons, and use imaginary buttons on capacitive buttons?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
It could be just me but I'm pretty sure your question makes no sense :/
The HTC logo is not capacitive. It is possible to hide the onscreen buttons using immersion mode or a mod.... Are you bootloader unlocked? Rooted? Gpe or sense?...
My bad I thought it was capacitive like the m7

I dont have an M7 but I used it before and the HTC logo was not a captive button. I guess its a mod the woke when u press the edge of the screen
It was a mod. You could use HTC button as menu button

The digitizer extended all the way to the bottom of the device (excluding the speakers obviously) so you could technically map that section to anything you wanted.
As for the M8, not too sure if the digitizer extends all the way to the bottom. Why would they, considering this device was designed with on screen keys in mind.

As the battery is not removable - is there some other way of rebooting this phone properly if it hangs?
I have this on preorder and it would be nice to know before flashing custom roms. Some of the roms I have used before sometimes required battery removal to wake up from a heavy crash. Aka "black screen pf death".

There will be a button-hold combination I'm sure.

Holding the Power/Lock button will reboot the device. That will simulate a battery pull

It was actually mentioned by one of the HTC reps at MWC. I forget which tech blog it was, but the rep was showing off the phone and the guy from the blog asked specifically about that in the video.

Is it mentioned by one of HTC blog's managing editor fr http://blog.htc.com/2012/02/htc-one-awards-mwc201/
There is a hard reset on the HTC One, pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds will force shut down the device. It basically simulates pulling the battery.

would you be so kind as to suggest to him to have this multicolor led notification on the hard home button for future release..?
I feel shifting the notification button to the home button at the bottom AND making it a multicolor LED type would be real awesome..!
Hi guys.Do you know any way to take screenshots like on Samsung Galaxy S III.I mean swiping the screen from a side to the other side?I am rooted with AOKP B36.Thx
What's wrong with vol down+power? Seems that would be preferable over a gesture that could disturb the screen you're trying to capture.
The guy above me said it

How could it disturb the screen? You do know that it uses the proximity sensor, not touch right? Its not like you drag you hand on the screen.

Nope, had no idea. I'd still prefer the button method though. Knowing me, I'd look like a fool waving my hand around over my phone :/
On aokp press and hold power button and then press screenshot.

Sorry my english is not good.
On AOKP, you can also do the power/volume down.

Does anyone know of any cases that would cover the captive buttons back, home and recent apps? I would love to use the on screen buttons provided I. Paranoid android but its annoying seeing the outline of the captive buttons even though I turn the lights off...

I've done a bit of searching around for this but I think they simply don't make cases like that :/
What about turning off capacitive backlight and then installing one of those mirror screen protectors? Would that have the desired effect??? Anyone using one??

Those are not soft keys soft keys are considered on screen keys . What you are referring to is capacitive buttons .

Check out capacitive buttons on the play store, should do the trick.
Edit: never mind missed the part about it being only for HTC devices.

Ok so with the M7 an amazing developer @tbalden was able to make the HTC logo a capacitive button. Anyone looked at the specs to see if it's possible with the m8? That bloody big black bezel has gotta be good for something!
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
They had to keep the black bar to allow room to fit the digitizers for the speakers.

Yes that's right but is there anything left over to use as a capacitive button like with the m7?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No. There's nothing left to make them work.
Sent from my HTC Desire
The logo was never capacitive on the m7. Logo menu was possible because a little bit of your finger made contact with the digitizer directly above the menu at the very edge of the bottom of the screen. I'm sure the genius devs we have will be just as creative with the m8.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Well in my opinion it's going to be much easier than on M7 because on my M8 i can :
- Scroll a landscape webpage just by moving my finger on the top 25-50% of the black bar.
- Wake up the phone by swiping grossly my thumb over the htc logo...
So yeah, this time it should be easy to encode buttons on the black bar and remove soft keys.
