Hi guys i would like to release the first beta release of TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project)
This recovery does everything that CWM does but better and quicker here are the features of the recovery
Key Features:
Touchscreen driven with real buttons and drag-to-scroll
XML-based GUI that allows full customization of the layout – true theming!
Settings are saved to the sdcard and persist through reboots
Ability to choose which partitions to back up and which to restore
Ability to choose to compress backups – now with pigz (multi-core processor support for faster compression times)
What's new in 2.1:
Zip queuing as seen in TWRP 1.1.x is back
Slider control (swipe to confirm most actions aka swipe to wipe)
Lockscreen (with slider to unlock)
Basic file manager (copy, move, delete, and chmod any file)
Added support for devices with /data/media (most Honeycomb tablets, new ICS devices like Galaxy Nexus)
Displays sizes of each partition in the backup menu
Added listbox GUI element (currently used for listing time zones)
Updated stock XML layouts to be more consistent and easier to port to different resolutions
XML layout files are significantly smaller
Partitions available backup are more accurate for some devices
Removed unneeded error messages (/misc errors, unable to stat sd-ext, etc.)
Fixed a bug with blkid detection code
Fixed bug where a blank line was inserted between every line of text during zip installs
Fixed a bug during zip installs where an invalid zip would cause TWRP to get stuck in the zip install
Added setting for themers to toggle simulation mode to make theming easier
New devices added - Galaxy Nexus GSM & CDMA (preview only, manual install), Acer Iconia Tab A500, HTC Vivid, Motorola Defy
Added support for .jpg images in the theme engine
Changed images for stock tablet theme - makes tablet builds about 500KB smaller
Removed unneeded non-GUI images from GUI - makes all builds about 100KB smaller

The random screen touching by itself on the lower right and left corner of the screen (I know because I turned screen touches on CM9) when it is plugged via USB or AC, and sometimes even unplugged. Had to lock and unlock the phone to fix it.

I was unlocked, but after flashing vm update it now say's locked at the top. I hope it didn't locked my bootloader. I'm still s-off and able to flash rom's and such. By the way I tried this on marvelc.

Yeah your bootloader is locked, i did the same thing earlier today (on purpose).
just got to go back in and redo everything. I used the unlocker on htcdev myself but thats up to you. I just wanted stock on my phone for my upcoming trip.

It was 1.09 or something like that. Now it is 1.10 something.

Don't worry mate, that's normal.
My phone is the same after the latest update, but as its s-off just ignore the locked message in boot loader.
Good job Eoghan

Cool. Why is it still in beta, is everything functional?

Advice Please :) Just tried revoked to root

I just ran revoked, I did not click yes to accept clockwork. I then clicked recovery and now my phone has the picture of a phone with a caution symbol - The power button doesn't work, whether I press it or hold it - same with VD+Powerbutton. It's been about 5 minutes so far, I'm fine with waiting - just would like to get some advice from a seasoned rooter I had my old EVO rooted but broke my phone and haven't bothered to root my new one until now.
baseband = 2.15.00.0808
kernel = 2.6.35.10-g13578ee [email protected] #1
software = 4.54.651.1
pri = 2.15_003
hardware version = 0004
HBOOT-2.16.0001
RADIO-2.15.00.0808
I'm assuming the only way to power it down is pull the battery - but again, would rather get some advice - I know sometimes you just need to wait things out.
Thanks!
If you have gingerbread 2.3.3 don't use revoked. Use revolutionary

You just don't have a recovery just drop a recovery onto your SD card and rename it PC36IMG.zip and the bootloader will scan for it and accept it and you should be set ONLY DO THIS IF YOUR S-OFF

Just read through the sticky and found that (Didn't realize it went past the first post)
Step 1 on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218386 says to download SuperUser - Is that the recovery? If so, I didn't rename it and I guess that would be the case.
All I've done so far is run revolutionary. Is it okay to pull my battery and reboot? And will I lose root/need to re-do revolutionary if I do that?
Thanks!

If you look in the evo 4g development section search amon RA and it will be in PC36IMG.zip that you flash in the bootloader. No superuser is what you will be flashing through the recovery once you have it setup. Should be okay to pull the battery

Lol I can't see that picture at all
Alright - Thank you for the help, looks like I have my original issue fixed! Now I just have another one though, if you all could be so helpful again
I *DO* have S-OFF; however I just downloaded ROM Manager and it's stating I'm not rooted: "You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "system/xbin/su".... "
Keep in mind, I'm still running my original setup and have not flashed any ROMs yet.
Any ideas?

Unlocking relocked HOX with boot loop.

Help!
So, I made the switch from a iPhone 4S to a HOX a few days back - pretty excited about what the future held.
I spent some time trawling threads on here, and managed to root and unlock the bootloader through HTCdev no problem. Phone was working fine.
Then, I got a little ambitious and tried to slap the latest CyanogenMod JB ROM on via USB... and that's where things went downhill.
I'm thought I followed the guide I found to the letter, but obviously not.
After flashing the ROM I found myself with a spinning circle splash screen (this went for 20 mins). I restarted the handset, and got the same problem.
I then revisited as many threads as I could find to try and fix it, but couldn't 1) get past HBOOT or Fastboot, or 2) mount my phone on my HP or Mac.
I followed these steps from TORXX but, when I got to 'adb reboot' I received 'Error device not found' (or words to that affect).
I kept searching and followed a few more threads (clearly not having any idea of what I was doing), and hoping like anything something would work. Obviously something did work, but not what I expected, as now the device shows 'Relocked' at the top of the screen.
Now, I'm caught in a trap, as I can't unlock the device again or use any of the recovery files I downloaded, as all the guides rely on you being able to transfer files from your computer via USB (which I can't do).
I'm not keen on using the term 'bricked', as everywhere I have read says that if you can still turn the device on, then there is most likely a way to sort the issue...
As per the noob intro vid, I've tried to outline as much of what I understand/remember I've done... but as is blindingly obvious, I'm fresh off the boat from Cupertino.
If anyone could help me...
1) Unlock the handset (again)
2) Get out of the boot loop
3) Install the CyanogenMod
...it would be greatly appreciated!
Oh, I don't know if it helps but its running on Telecom (NZ) network.

I can't get into recovery. I just wind up back in the boot loop, or HBOOT/Fastboot menu (when I press volume down).
If by unlock key you mean the .bin file that HTCdev emailed me, then yes... If you mean the string I copied and pasted on the HTCdev site, then no.
The .bin file

Great, I used the tool, and it unlocked the device.
I then ended back at the spinning splash screen.
I restarted the phone, and was able to enter Recovery.
Now, going forward from here, this is the part I must've stuffed up last time... So, I'm looking for a noob-friendly way to install the ROM.
I would recommend installing arhd I can help you all the way with that the cm Rom is a bit complex

Also with that tool you don't need to fastboot boot.IMG just put boot.IMG in kernel folder open tool and click install kernel and it will install it for you

Many thanks. I'm downloading arhd now and will try flashing it with the tool as you suggest, so will let you know how it does. Surely not even I can screw this part up!!!
Not with that tool it makes thing so easy I use it all the time no problem just don't relock your bootloader with a custom Rom
Iv gotta go work soon but I will be back on about 5pm to see how your doing

Thanks again. I appears I spoke to soon!
I put the boot.img in the folder and performed action, but for some reason I ended back up at the CyMod screen when I rebooted?
My phone isn't showing up as a drive on my computer either...
Don't reboot install boot.img got to recovery run superwipe.zip then install arhd still don't reboot wipe cache and delvik cache then reboot let things settle down and enjoy sorry forgot to mention superwipe you can find it on arhd thread just underneath were you downloaded Rom

Have a good day at work. I've got Superwipe on now.
Followed your steps...
1) Superwipe
2) Flash arhd
3) Clear cache
4) Clear dalvik cache
5) Reboot
But, now, after rebooting I simply end up at the HTC splash screen, and nothing loads after... Is there anything I could have missed.
Boot loops are nearly always a lack of boot.img

You must do the last thing, and unlocking bootloader. thats not very hard. I must write a thread for it and when it complete send link to you.

1.first you must download fastboot drivers From my mediafire page to your computer detect your phone at fastboot and extract it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?kl623smbg4oea0u
then Connect your phone in fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold menu button and plug in USB Cable), there is a driver error(dont afraid) do this:
go to device manager(just type at search), and update driver software, then browse the location of extracted package(USBFlash_driver(S1boot Download), click install anyway, finish.
then:
2. Go to: http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
3. At the bottom click 'Continue' and enter your IMEI (type *#06# to find out), name and email address
4. You should now receive your unique unlock key
5. at the extracted package open fastboot folder
6. Hold SHIFT and right click on the free space of the folder
7. Select 'Open command window here'
8. Connect your phone in fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold menu button and plug in USB Cable)

10. If a value is returned, it means the phone is correctly connected
11. Type in "fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY" (without ") and replace KEY with the key provided in step 4.

Okay so when i connect my phone, it always just installs a fastboot driver something called ADB interface
Edit: ok i got it to not install it
but whenever i go to device manager and in other devices update driver software it says no driver can be found in that folder
Edit 2: it found 1 in the sdk thing provided by sony on their site
Edit 3: it installs something called android ADB interface

[Q] [10.1] [GT-P5210] Rooting?

Hi,
Is there anyone who managed to root his/her Tab 3 10.1 ?
I tried it several ways, but, no luck
I now have firmware version JDQ39.P5210XXUAMG6 and SuperSU installed (by rooting/flashing via Odin), it was a pre-rooted firmware. (Android version is 4.2.2.)
But the problem is, SuperSU wants to update the SU binary, or else it won't work. Then I can choose between CWM/TWRP or Normal recovery.
I've tried everything but it just doesn't work.
When I choose for Normal recovery, it just reboots into recovery and then doesn't do anything.
When I choose for CWM/TWRP recovery, it's the same problem.
I already have flashed the other recoveries and tried both options, for both recoveries, but, again, no luck
Oh and using Superuser instead of SuperSU, doesn't help either. It has the same problem.
Other superuser apps don't work, too.
Yes, almost forgot, enabling USB Debug Mode does not help, neither with flashing pre-rooted firmware again, with USB Debug Mode on.
Thanks in advance...

I followed this guide for root and recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432467
Only things to beware of:
uncheck the reboot option in odin and just hard power down the device after flashing the recovery.
Cwm only will use an external micro card (sees it as sdcard) so put the root zip there.
Vol up and down seem backwards to me.
Good luck. -- Bud

Aight, thanks!!
It worked by flashing/installing the root.zip through TWRM (verification disabled, else it failed).
So now I have root access, but, I encounter another problem... I can't update the SU binary...
When I try it through Superuser (that one with the green Android logo), it says the following:

Same worked for me without issue. I would go with factory reset(wipe everything if your having issues with SU) and then use the files from DutchDanny's thread.

Hello,
I just pulled my tab out of the box and when I turned wifi on it started downloading system update. In fact just finished downloading it. I'm wondering if I allow it to upgrade will I still be able to use Bindroid's root method. Anybody allow the upgrade then root? I have the att variant of galaxy s4 and i know there were a lot of people that got boned when they allowed the build upgrade before rooting because of the bootloader... I'm currently on MI8 build on my P5210. Under update info it just says size and "improved stability." I'm probably just paranoid from the s4 but just curious if there was any insight out there. Benzo I quoted you because I've seen your name a lot helping out.
Thanks!
no video in vudu or netflix after root via bindroid
Hi I rooted my gt-p5210 a coup,e of times thru bindroid. All works well, a little laggy but thats expected. Only problem ive found is that netflix and vudu both load all tbe way but neither will play the video its goes to video buffering then restarts the app. Any Ideas? Btw I used oden and cwm.

Excuse my ignorance here, but "laggy" ?
My rooted Tab3 doesn't seem to show any lag at all ?
Is it the general consensus that 'rooted' devices experience lag ?

Agree. Probably meant the recovery app (cwm or twrp) is laggy which it is. I would guess the chip is in a power saving mode under the recovery apps and no one has figured out how to fix this. -- Bud

How to Unroot HTC one M8 using a Mac

I am looking to unroot my HTC one M8. I followed tutorial from sakitech on YouTube to root the phone.
I am not sure if I am s on or s off, I am pretty sure part of the above process made be back up to mysd card using twrp or something like this. I have seen an option to fully unroot in SuperSu. I am in the UK and use Tmobile/EE network.
Is that all I would need to do? Or could someone provide step by step process using a Mac.
Thanking you in advance.
Hmm, I'm not sure what a mac is but maybe you could set it up to dualboot ubuntu and go from there?

First possibility is to perform the fully unroot in the SuperSu app and after this uninstall SuperSu.
Another Way is to download the unsupersu.zip and "install" it using a custom recovery. The script will then delete su.bin and all other su data.
To flash custom recovery you can simply install adb and fastboot on your Mac. I'm running it on a Mac myself and it works flawlessly, as OS X is programmed on a Linux base.
And yes you can dual boot a Mac with OS X and Windows or Linux. I had my MacBook even set up to tripple boot OS X, Windows 7 and Linux Mint

So if the fully unroot option within supersu works... Will it still require the custom recovery as well?

No if it works you can just go Info Play Store and uninstall the SuperSu app as well to be unrooted..

What about exposed installer being installed? I haven't installed any custom Rom at any time as all I wanted to get was pop-up notifications. But I didn't realise so many apps would detect the rooting so would not work. That's why I want to return it to normal. Will the above lock that boot loader thing as well?

What about APPs like RootCloak. Would try to use this first to cloak the root access to those APPs which won't work if the phone ist rooted. There is an XDA Support thread for this App as well.
As if you uninstall root you can right away uninstall xposed, as it won't work without root.
There is a free Heads-Up APP on Play Store. Just if you would like L like notifications on your One. without root. You can define which APPs are allowed to display those notifications and which are not as well.

Believe me it is.
But to be absolutely correct I would have had to write
Linux is based from Minix a type of UNIX.
Mac OSX is based from BSD, which is UNIX.
So they are in fact very familiar. Had to analyse it in a computational science lecture at university . But wrong forum and thread to discuss this topic.

Ok. This is where I am. I opted for the complete unroot within SuperSu app. All looked fine. Deleted/uninstalled then sense 6 toolbox and the xposure app. The OTA update then popped up again after the phone rebooted itself. I. Selected the OTA it downloaded and upon installing. On rebooting the phone...it goes to Team Win Recovery Project v2.7.1.0 with the options to install, Wipe Backup Restore Mount Settings Advanced and Reboot. I am Stuck now not sure what to do. can anyone help me to get the phone back to how it was before rooting.

You have to flash the stock recovery first, as OTA doesn't work wit a custom revocery such as TWRP.

Already guessed that the OS entry is empty. It's a known Bug with some of the TWRP versions at the moment.
What is written if you got to settings > about phone > software information > software number?
Just asking to find out which stock recovery you really need.

Yes it is. So you have to download and flash stock recovery. 1.54.401.10. You can download it from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
After you downloaded it copy the recovery.img to adb folder and
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot phone, download OTA and you good to go and install it.

Just edited my post above, with it
On a Mac you maybe have to type it the following way (but first try as I wrote above):
./adb reboot bootloader
./fastboot reboot-bootloader
./fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Edit: Oh man I forgot to ask. Do you have adb and fastboot installed on you Mac?
