I am looking to unroot my HTC one M8. I followed tutorial from sakitech on YouTube to root the phone.
I am not sure if I am s on or s off, I am pretty sure part of the above process made be back up to mysd card using twrp or something like this. I have seen an option to fully unroot in SuperSu. I am in the UK and use Tmobile/EE network.
Is that all I would need to do? Or could someone provide step by step process using a Mac.
Thanking you in advance.
Hmm, I'm not sure what a mac is but maybe you could set it up to dualboot ubuntu and go from there?

First possibility is to perform the fully unroot in the SuperSu app and after this uninstall SuperSu.
Another Way is to download the unsupersu.zip and "install" it using a custom recovery. The script will then delete su.bin and all other su data.
To flash custom recovery you can simply install adb and fastboot on your Mac. I'm running it on a Mac myself and it works flawlessly, as OS X is programmed on a Linux base.
And yes you can dual boot a Mac with OS X and Windows or Linux. I had my MacBook even set up to tripple boot OS X, Windows 7 and Linux Mint

So if the fully unroot option within supersu works... Will it still require the custom recovery as well?

No if it works you can just go Info Play Store and uninstall the SuperSu app as well to be unrooted..

What about exposed installer being installed? I haven't installed any custom Rom at any time as all I wanted to get was pop-up notifications. But I didn't realise so many apps would detect the rooting so would not work. That's why I want to return it to normal. Will the above lock that boot loader thing as well?

What about APPs like RootCloak. Would try to use this first to cloak the root access to those APPs which won't work if the phone ist rooted. There is an XDA Support thread for this App as well.
As if you uninstall root you can right away uninstall xposed, as it won't work without root.
There is a free Heads-Up APP on Play Store. Just if you would like L like notifications on your One. without root. You can define which APPs are allowed to display those notifications and which are not as well.

Believe me it is.
But to be absolutely correct I would have had to write
Linux is based from Minix a type of UNIX.
Mac OSX is based from BSD, which is UNIX.
So they are in fact very familiar. Had to analyse it in a computational science lecture at university . But wrong forum and thread to discuss this topic.

Ok. This is where I am. I opted for the complete unroot within SuperSu app. All looked fine. Deleted/uninstalled then sense 6 toolbox and the xposure app. The OTA update then popped up again after the phone rebooted itself. I. Selected the OTA it downloaded and upon installing. On rebooting the phone...it goes to Team Win Recovery Project v2.7.1.0 with the options to install, Wipe Backup Restore Mount Settings Advanced and Reboot. I am Stuck now not sure what to do. can anyone help me to get the phone back to how it was before rooting.

Yes it is. So you have to download and flash stock recovery. 1.54.401.10. You can download it from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
After you downloaded it copy the recovery.img to adb folder and
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

On a Mac you maybe have to type it the following way (but first try as I wrote above):
./adb reboot bootloader
./fastboot reboot-bootloader
./fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Slightly out of my depth here, but go to the thread demkantor posted a few posts up and read carefully, it will be very informative.
Also you appear to be using stock Android recovery, I'm not certain this is a problem but just to make sure I would find out how to use fastboot to flash clockworkmod recovery. Just Google "flash clockworkmod recovery fast boot" or something along those lines... If you already have android SDK set up, etc. Which I assume you must have being as you're rooted, it shouldn't be too difficult.
Sorry this is about as much as I can help, I'm sure demkantor will be able to help you through anything more than this.

THIS THREAD will teach you how to use fastboot to do
various things such as flash a new recovery. problem is you dont have a bootloader with fastboot
capabilities, well at least not many. do you know how the phone was rooted? if it was
done using the gfree method than you can simply flash one of the PC10IMG.zips from
post 30 in the thread linked above (done via bootloader) if not it could be an issue to use do this.
you can only flash update.zips through the recovery you have now and they more than likely would need to be signed by htc. if you dont have a working os right now then
you may need to flash an ruu (one that matches your phone) let me know where you stand on all this

Just tried to install your stock recovery with fastboot commands. Kept getting message along the lines of "can't open file etc".
Had restored my stock nandroid successfully, put phone in fastboot mode and typed "fastboot devices" which produced my serial number ok.
Got the recovery on with a toolkit but would like to find out why it wouldn't flash with commands.
I've had these issues before with m7 too and ended up using toolkits.

It works great. It took some time because I had to find Win7 32 bit with direct internet connection (I'm on Win8 64 bit) but at the end it is S-OFF.
Thank you!
Now I have another problem. After S-OFF with this method I can not start Bluetooth. Tried with wiping data (factory reset) but no luck. It would be nice to have radio to download. Maybe that would help my situation.
For now I will try with different ROM.

you don't have to reflash the radio, just reflash a new rom (of course clean install)

Actually you don't really need s-off for cus-rom, except you want to tweak the device itself. For the problem recovery, I suggest to using cwm from developer '4m8' thread

Hello everyone,
I have seem similar threads about this happening to windows 8 users, but my case is slightly different. as of yesterday my fastboot was working perfectly fine, until I tried to flash this RUU ( I was trying to downgrade my OS so I could use rumrunner to unlock my device), when I tried to flash the RUU I heard the alert message from windows that my phone was disconnected. ever since my pc never recognizes my phone while in bootloader, although it works perfectly fine while on the system.
In the devices manager MyHTC drivers show with the yellow triangle and the errorcode 10 (failed to start devices)
going to leave the links for the screenshots

here is what I have tried already.
Install the usb 3.0 windows update( said already had it, plus this was working before so doubt it is the problem)

Install and reinstall HTC drivers (multiple times)

try different usb ports/cables
and I think this is all I have tried, will keep trying more stuff and update the post with information, has anybody encountered a similar problem or knows a fix?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: phone is now unlocked, also I'm on stock recovery. I also think the problem is that my bootloader got corrupted when the phone disconnect since I had hoot 1.57 prior to the bad ruu. Can the OTA fix my bad hboot? Will I lose root if I do that?
You are s-off, why do you need rumrunner? I don't know why your drivers will just stop working. I suggest running a distro of Linux and follow the below threads to ruu to 4.4.2 firmware (that one is pre-rooted so you can run the command to manually unlock your bootloader.)

Thanks for the reply, the thing is that I cannot flash the ruu I'm not rooted and cannot use the command to unlock, plus my ultimate goal was to return my device to stock s-on.

You are s-off, why do you need rumrunner? I don't know why your drivers will just stop working. I suggest running a distro of Linux and follow the below threads to ruu to 4.4.2 firmware (that one is pre-rooted so you can run the command to manually unlock your bootloader.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765784
After you ruu follow Scotty's instructions to unlock your bootloader.

You could always use a live boot CD as most distros allow that. I suggest linux as fastboot would always work so we can rule out the PC having the issues.

Yes I have not discarded it being a computer issue, I have a Linux mint dvd at home and I will try that as soon as I get there and let you guys know.
Edit: Oh something that may be important is that the bootloader won't display fastboot USB unless I navigate through the menu, and the text will glitch while changing from fastboot to fastboot USB. That is the main reason I think is a corrupted bootloader.

My bootloader has the same issue. It has been like that since I got the phone. It might be just a batch of main boards that had the issue. It doesn't affect my fastboot capabilities at all.

Glad to hear that, that glitch is unrelated to my fastboot issue although I didn't have the issue before, but that means
It could still be a driver problem. One quick question, will updating ota remove my root status?

Yes, it will remove su apps, like supersu, but unlock/s-off will always stay.
It worked using a linux distro. I can't still believe that my windows drivers just suddenly stopped working. Thank you very much! one last question, what method should I use to get locked and S-ON?

RUU with that zip, lock the bootloader with Scotty's command, unroot, then do the below command.
Fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
Be sure you are completely stock and unrooted before locking and turning s-on. You can upgrade to the newer 4.4.3 software with either vzw ota or if you do not have vzw service you can with HTC Sync or the ruu exe for s-on if you get your drivers working.

and using that command will not show relocked nor tampered? I want to return to full stock. I know I sound skeptical but it is just that all the post that I have seen shows a way long and harder process.

RUU would remove tampered, Scotty's command would make the bootloader locked and the fastboot command will put the phone back to s-on.

Hello! In this tutorial I'll show you how to flash latest stock ROM to your Android-based Nokia smartphone WITHOUT Nokia Data Package Manager.
You'll need:
computer with ANY operating system and properly installed ADB and fastboot
working Internet connection
USB cable
smartphone
Let's go!
Remove the back plate of your Nokia smartphone.

On sticker you'll see CODE, which identifies your smartphone's model and distribution region. Note it, because you'll need it for downloading ROM. For mine NX it's 059T9D8, which means my telephone is from Polish distribution. If curious, you can check it here.
Go to http://cellomania.com/ffu/. Type your product code and press "OK" button. Webpage will refresh and it will be slowly filled with all files available for your device.
Download all files you'll need to restoring original system. Their names are ending with *.img extension. For full restoration of stock ROM you'll need files for these partitions:
Code:
boot, system, variant, persist, preload, recovery
Connect your smartphone to computer, launch your favourite shell/terminal and reboot phone to recovery:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Go to directory where you downloaded ROM images and use fastboot to flash ROMs, for example:
Code:
fastboot -i 0×0421 flash system RM980_1.2.4.1_system.img
Erase userdata and cache:
Code:
fastboot -i 0×0421 erase userdata
Code:
fastboot -i 0×0421 erase cache
After successfully flashing of ROMs reboot your phone with this command:
Code:
fastboot -i 0×0421 reboot
That's all! Don't forget to press "Thanks!" button if this tutorial helped you. :highfive:

If you have already downloaded recovery partition image and you have problem with adb/fastboot commands, it might be easier to use Nokia X Flasher

I didn't saw any flashing tool for Nokia X2, I guess you'll need to manually use fastboot utility :d
Next time ask at Nokia X2 forums :G

Installed ROM has nothing to it and Nokia X Toolkit isn't working with Nokia X2, because it isn't the same phone. Flash ROM manually with tutorial in OP, just skip
Code:
-i 0×0421
in fastboot commands.
